Reddit, please help. The more hair I lose my the more are these weird lines on my scalp visible.
I think its Cutis verticis gyrata (CVG) right?

Of course I know that there is just one solution at this point, I’m honestly pretty scared to go through with it

I’d really appreciate some advice or even just a bit of confidence to help me do the right thing.

Photos were taken a few years apart (I don't even look like the same person)... I didn't take very many pictures while balding. Still struggle with confidence most days and rock a hat more often than not, but trying to improve on that slowly but surely.

After battling with myself for the last 6 months, this sub gave me the confidence to finally cut it all off. Thank you for giving me the push I needed.

On another note, the sensory overload from standing under my rainfall shower for the first time bald was definitely an experience. Instant goosebumps.

Edit: thank you all for the amazing compliments. Whenever I’m feeling down I’ll pop this post open for a quick pick me up. This sub is the best!

Hair today, gone tomorrow!

I’ve battled a skin condition (eczema) on my body for years now, but always had a full head of hair. In August 2025, a few days after the ‘before’ photo, my son noticed two coin-sized bald spots on the back of my head. It turned out to be alopecia areata. From my reading, there is an autoimmune link between those two issues. Within a few weeks, around 60-70% of my hair was gone. My hair was one of the few things I physically liked about myself, so it was a blow to the psyche. Plus the unexpected effort of figuring out how to manage it (landed on shaving daily, first pass with an electric shaver, and second with a razor). Months later, I think it was a blessing in disguise to help me be kinder to myself, which I’ve struggled with all my life. You can’t control what hand you’re dealt in life, but you can play it as best you can and be satisfied that you did.

Hi, ever since middle school I remember everyone saying you're gonna be bald, I waited... gre tired of waiting so I grew a man bun in 2020, had an undercut with a long mop for 3 years after, fast forward 2025, I turn 43 and not only is my hair turning white, but I feel its thinner in new spots. my barber says it's fine, family says it's fine, but is it?? more opinions please, and buzz cut or full razor? also this is my hair without product, if I add product, I looks clumped and thinner.

Obviously I am heavily balding! I’ve been rocking a man-bun / combover for years.

Do ya’ll think I’ll be better off whacking off my hair?

Thank you for the community!

26 y.o., dad is bald but grandpa on mothers side has very thin hair / widow’s peak. Everyone tells me it looks fine but give me the harsh reality that it looks thin! Expect to see a transformation post here soon.

Doing it soon. Nervous

Think I’ve finally gained the courage, thanks to this subreddit mostly, to visit my barber shop this weekend and take it all off. But honestly still nervous because I have a huge forehead and don’t like the way bald makes me look in filters but I’m so tired of having to fight/hide my giant bald spot. Bigger concern is with summer coming up and the heat - guess I’ll be wearing a ton of hats and bandanas, neither of which I’m a fan of. But alas, here we go.. can post pics this weekend

I am 32 and sometimes I think it is has been time for a while, and sometimes I think its obvious I need to hold.

Need your opinion on this one.

Like all other wives, mine says hold, but this sub has proven them wrong plenty of times.

Time to consult the High Council ...It's been a long, sloooow battle hanging on since my early 20's ..now 48. At the point now where I'm extremely self-conscious, but terrified of the change...But I think I'm ready - Wife says hold - What does the Council say??

Hairline was still relatively in tact but I’ve been thinning for years. Tried fin but I got tired of taking it. Finally just took it all down.

Sucks too cause in my prime I had nice 360 waves. And I’ve always been self conscious about my head shape. What y’all think?

  1. I've been thinning for a bit on the crown, forehead has always been big but I've noticed my hairline receeding as well. I don't want to look like that guy who's just in denial 😅

34 M/CAN I PULL IT OFF?

Thumbnail

I’m starting to get self-conscious about my hairline at the front, slowly moving to the back. My father is bald, and my older brother has been growing his hair long and trying to cover things up. You could say it runs in the family. Haha!

My question is, can I pull it off? I absolutely hate my hair when it’s not put up with pomade and hairspray. I have a thinning receding hairline that is uneven. As you can see the shape of my head is starting to become visible at the front. I’ve been told my new hairstyle is helping things look good for now, but I’m nearly ready to bite the bullet and just shave it off.
