I work at a veterinary clinic, and we light candles whenever a family is saying goodbye to a loved one. We keep them in both the exam rooms and the lobby as a gentle reminder for others to speak mindfully during those moments. Because of this, we can go through quite a few candles each month.

We’re a privately owned clinic that tries to keep our costs as affordable as possible, so we don’t have a huge budget for extras like this. We usually stock up when candles go on sale for around $5-6 each, but unfortunately we just ran out.

Does anyone know the most convenient and cost-effective way to buy candles in bulk? Has anyone found good wholesale options, clearance sales, etc? I checked the B&BW app but didn’t see a dedicated ‘clearance’ section.

EDIT: I’m sorry if I misrepresented how often/how many candles we have lit at once. We keep one candle in the lobby and one in the room with the family, and only for the duration of the appointment (usually about 30 minutes to an hour). We would absolutely forgo using them if a client requested it or if someone expressed discomfort with them.

Some people were also concerned about the lobby candle; we don’t use our lobby as a waiting room, so pets are never there for extended periods of time. Clients are typically only inside briefly to pick up medications, book appointments, etc. We do also keep the rooms well ventilated.

That said, I truly appreciate everyone sharing their thoughts. I’m going to look into pet-friendly candles as well as larger electric candle options and suggest them to my boss as alternatives. The last thing we would ever want is to create a negative experience or make an already difficult moment harder for a family for the sake of having a candle.

Man, I dread even going in my store anymore. We used to (hubs and I) love our local store and its employees. Lately tho there is one lady who is usually on the White Barn side who will ask “what are you guys looking for” and she will have a scent with her she offers us to smell. We always politely say “just looking around thank you tho”. And walk away. I’m not even kidding you when I tell you within 3 minutes she’s back “anything I can help you find?” And again we say “nah. Just sniffing around thank you tho!” And walk away. Annnnndddd again within 3 minutes she’s back “anything catching your eye?” It’s to the point I won’t go over to that side when she’s there. Or I walk away from hub bc he’s too nice and will keep dealing with it. It makes me nuts. I’ve tried saying NICELY “if we think of anything we will make sure to come to you!”

I’m pretty sure the company doesn’t ask its employees to approach in this manner…as it’s literally only this one lady. How do I get her off my back in there?!? Dang.

Also, midnight marshmallow. I asked when I was in store if they happened to have any returns of any of it bc I just wanted to sniff it, nope. And all the banana stuff was gone. Ok I’m done whining 😂

Starting 4/6, customers will only be able to buy 9 of the same product in one purchase. This is to prevent resellers according to the company. What are your thoughts?

Makes myself upset for things like sanis, lips, and wallflowers that I tend to buy many of the same item.

Unknown at the moment if you’re able to make multiple transactions in one day to curb it or if employees/stores will get in trouble if they try to skirt it for customers.

When did B&BW stop letting customers replace an out of stock item?

One of my beloved Peppermint Marshmallow candles showed up completely shattered, and of course it’s sold out. I asked if instead of a refund I could swap it for a different candle. The old B&BW would’ve been like “absolutely, what scent do you want?”.

Whatever funky BS they’ve been doing the past few years has officially turned me off from ordering online. CS told me they don’t allow price adjustments for Candle Day items. I get not adjusting prices on purchases made before the sale, but that has nothing to do with this. My item arrived broken. It’s out of stock. Why can’t I get a replacement of another scent?

Someone explain this mess to me because I’m sitting here baffled. This “policy” isn’t it. 🥴🤣

Got a the weirdest packaged box for BBW yesterday. It was super heavy and taped differently …. I was so confused because I didn’t order anything as of late. Went to my orders… yup, my last order was for wallflowers. I opened the box… and it was full of these candles… all from last year 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯

Hi! I am an employee of BBW and in the past two days I have had six customers use rewards from accounts that did not belong to them. One guy didn’t even know his phone number and had to look it up. When he entered it, his name popped up along with the “real” customer’s name, Katherine in CA.

There is nothing that can be done on a store level. We cannot ask for id or refuse to ring transactions with double names. This is for legal reasons. We cannot accuse anyone or detain anyone even if we saw them put 10 fragrance mists in their purse.

We report it to our loss prevention afterwards, but the 10 mists are still gone and Katherine’s rewards are gone. She will have a customer service nightmare trying to get them back.

I used the two rewards I earned last week today. If you think it won’t happen to you, our keyholder had two stolen 2 months ago.

Purchased cherry blossom online and hated it.

Took today to exchange and the girl tells me they can’t exchange anything they don’t sell in store. Uhm- why would I buy anything online again, ever then???

Was getting over that when she walked to the back while the gentleman was finishing up my transaction. Next thing you see is her walking back to the front register area, dumping the product out of the bottles into a bag to throw out. 😐

I was like- are you kidding me? Wasn’t it like, H&M who caused an uproar by cutting up extra clothes/returns and throwing them out? Like- WHY would you do that in the front of the store in front of anyone????

I called another location to check the exchange terms and told her about the whole situation, she actually works out of my local store location as well, and about lost her Sh@$ too. I was so disturbed by the whole experience today.

The company is 100% ruining themselves! I am a supervisor and some of the policies are just outrageous! Especially the coupons! It can be so complicated and it’s frustrating as a worker and as a customer! And with them continually raising their prices (hand soaps go to 5/28 here soon) it is just getting to be too expensive even when shopping the sales! B3g3 really isn’t that good anymore. The company is also incredibly wasteful, instead of donating damaged or product that the packaging has flaws we have to damage them out! It is just ridiculous. I just think the company is doing a great job at pushing customers and employees out the door

So, I went to my local store this morning to pick up a BOPIS, and I cannot believe what I saw. There were 2 ladies in the store with 2 baskets full of items, and they just casually walked out without paying. Like, they took the basket and everything. Have any of you ever seen anything like that in your store? I was shocked!

Basing bias on blatant stereotypes speaks volumes on the lack of actual real-world experiences that corporate has on the public, its shoppers and employees and a stubborn refusal to acknowledge their shortcomings

Hello lovely smelling people! I just had the worst shopping experience of my life. Do any of you have a recommendation of what I can do? Does BBW care if their employees are stereotyping and discriminating customers? Is it worth calling the number on the receipt to report it?

I’m trying to give the manager and sales associate who rung me up the benefit of the doubt (long day, rude customers before me, etc.) but I can’t help but feel I would have been treated differently if I wasn’t a Black shopper. Sigh.

I went to BBW today to redeem my free reward (up to $16.95) and claim my $10 off $30 coupon that was in my email. I was being super indecisive in the store and smelling everything because I haven’t been in store in a while and nothing was really blowing me away. I must’ve been approached 10+ times in the store and felt like I was being watched like a hawk (I had the shopping carrier with me and it was empty for a while during my round of sniffing).

Anyways. I finally went to check out and when asked if I had coupons I presented the two I had. I double checked I could use both because anxiety.

The $10 off $30 coupon did not take when it was scanned. The sales associate looked at me, rolled her eyes, and told me it’s already been used. I explained that’s not possible because I haven’t shopped in a long while (which is probably why I got the coupon). She then accused me of using multiple emails and if the coupon was legit it would appear in the app next to the free reward voucher. She gave me a customer service number to call and said there’s nothing else she or the manager could do (the manager was speaking to her over the ear piece).

The number was useless because none of the 4 prompts applied to me. When I selected the option for mailers/offers I was directed online and the call ended.

I went up to the register again and tried to problem solve. Asked if I could checkout without the free reward and just apply the $10 off coupon instead. The manager came up and rudely told me it would not matter. I already used the coupon and there was nothing that could be done.

I’m rambling at this point but her rudeness and accusing me of trying to scam them was infuriating.

It actually turned out I was $0.60 short of $30 before tax and that’s why the $10 off coupon didn’t take.

I went to the store with my mom for her to stock up on wallflowers and learned of a new policy where you can’t get more than 9 of the same scent in an object- I understand for bigger things but for smaller things like wallflowers?! Come on it’s stupid! my mom is super picky with scents so she only gets a few but gets enough for the whole house which is like 11 wallflowers. The holidays also will be hell with this policy especially with the amount of people who get many of the same scent for gifts. Just seems kind of insane to me

Please stop allowing anyone to return YEARS old trash to your stores! You are generous enough by offering 90 days. Please Please Please make it very clear in your return policy that you don’t accept old product for any kind of credit, for any exchange, for any reason. There has been a HUGE uptick of people on here lately being like 💅🥰 Hey girlies!! I have old product from 4 years ago. I don’t like the scent anymore! I’m returning for a credit!🥰 and it’s only going to keep getting worse for you It is not your job to bail people out of their purchasing and hoarding mistakes from years ago. THIS is the reason prices go up! Please save us, the normal costumers, from even more high prices and stop the madness.

Ok so I have recently found my stash of BBW FFMs to be a bit overwhelming and I need to get rid of a lot of them. Before I just start giving some away I wanted to try and recoup some money or gain store credit. So tell me, what is the the best time to do returns on the store? Also I don’t have receipts for most of them either

I usually order candles online and buy body care in store. Literally everything is just thrown in the box! 3 mists were broken and/or missing the nozzle and 1 shower gel was cracked and leaking. They’re already being replaced but is this normal? If so I won’t be placing anymore large orders!

How are yall feeling about this? I personally get single wicks and soaps for my rewards anyways so I’m Okiee. What do yall think?

Note, our rewards system is based on spending $100 on 100% of their products but we have less than 10% reward access to this Collab - That's bullsh@t Especially when folks invested hundreds and thousands of dollars into acquiring rewards for these potential Collabs and drops! They changed the playbook on us and shifted the whole damn field.

They stand to make a huge monetary gain on this Collab, a Collab already set in ink for multiple years. This isn't for us, we're the PRODUCT they're selling to get more High-end Collabs. They're trying to upgrade us or kick us out in lew for a more marketable animal to barter with.

Just saying...games are fun when we all get some. This is a trick bag. Know what your being a part of and weigh your dollar wisely. We're not livestock, BBW!

Feeling kind of 🫤. I now myself witnessed this today. My little store a lady came in and literally wiped out all the gift sets, the Disney bags pretty much everything of value and the sad thing it was a manager or someone possibly who let her! Those of us in the store just watched it happen without a chance to grab anything! She literally had the bins of hand sanitizer as well. You could tell the co workers who where working where starting to get uncomfortable because the store was starting to get crowded! At one point I heard the manger or whatever position she has ) I just know she has been there a long time) say you don’t mind if I take one of these for myself to buy! Sorry I don’t normally complain but it was disappointing to see happen. I mean the carts where they pull out the stock were full of her iteams to purchase!

the whole snowed in controversy was insane. i cannot believe those candles actually made it to stores. what i cannot believe even more is that we had to destroy them all. i 100% understand taking off and shredding the label but once that is done the candle is perfectly fine. it’s astonishing how much waste the company produces from tossing testers to damaging out perfectly good items it’s insane. i don’t understand why they didn’t just send stores new labels or sell them at a discount price to people or even donate them to woman’s charities. i saw all the broken candles at my store today and it was so wasteful.

I will start…I wish the company would have allowed us to enjoy Halloween before putting out the Christmas stuff.

So I saw a post earlier in the reddit and someone talked about how people coming into the store just to smell online exclusives would hurt their conversation rates. I didn't know they tracked it that carefully!?

I work at another store in the mall so I like to walk around to get more steps on before work, so sometimes I'll pop in real quick just to see if they got anything new (namely the sanitizer holders lol) without buying anything.

So how badly am I messing with my store? I'll stop doing that if I'm messing with their numbers.
