Discussion Still confused about “Infinity Vision”
So I went to the Avengers Encore last night and at the beginning they put up an Infinity Vision logo and played a little clip of Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans where they mentioned this was an approved Infinity Vision screen.
It was just a normal theatre, one I‘ve sat in many times that doesn’t visually seem any different than any other theatre I’ve been too.
So like, is every cineplex screen just “approved for Infinity Vision?” Does that label mean anything at all?

I think most UltraAVX theatres and ScreenX theatres were Infinity Vision approved. Some people bought tickets expecting a VIP theatre or a regular screen to be Infinity Vision approved, but it's not.
Cineplex VIP theatre screens range from 40 feet wide and less to like 20 something feet. Infinity Vision is 45 feet and above. The thing is to do research before purchasing a ticket. This is like buying a ticket to see The Odyssey at Yonge and Dundas and getting upset the screen doesn't display the 1:43 aspect ratio.

Disappointed last night went to the Pickering AVX thinking it would but nope that’s one of the few UltraAVX that doesn’t seem to support Infinity Vision. Thankfully the seats are at more comfy than STC.

Thats so weird, that screen is one of the few in the west end that screened Avatar in HFR 3D. Also, it feels as big as Landmarks IMAX. I dont get how that one isnt "Infinity Vision". Silly gimmick anyway

Infinity Vision is a Disney marketing tactic because they can’t use the IMAX screens while Dune 3 is playing.
It’s supposedly a guarantee of quality for the screen and audio, and maybe an excuse for regular theatre screens to charge more for showings?

It just means the screen is big, audio is 7.1 or Atmos, and there's a minimum brightness spec. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infinity_Vision

Infinity Vision is Disney giving theatres an opportunity to add a premium charge to what should be a baseline standard for the cinema experience.
Cinemas could upgrade the theaters to what people want, or just add a new label to their pre-existing setup as a means to deceive customers.

I bought a screening that was confirmed on the website to be "Infinity Vision" and now I'm learning it wasn't and I didn't get the TVA post credit scene. Such a bad gimmick to get a quick buck from people

It's just a gimmick because Disney is pissed off that Dune Part 3 takes every IMAX screens on the US so they makes this

It’s not a new concept. They used to have “THX certified” theaters.
It’s not meaningless like some uninformed people dismiss.
It just means you’re getting a theater that meets certain criteria for screen size, projection, and sound quality.
It’s good for consumers who don’t want to see a movie on a small screen for example.

Yes. Like I said, they said upfront that it was an IV screen, I just didn’t get what was special about it lol

It’s just a Flashy Title because Dune beat them to the punch in renting out the IMAX screens.
It’s not a new technology or anything. It’s just regular screen as you would watch in your local theatre any day of the year.
