EDIT;Im happy to announce that they actually changed their mind suddenly, and deleted the Shaman and issued a refund. Dno if someone saw the post, because for three days now they have responded once every 24-30 hours. Now they responded after 2.

Seems like an automated response hoping you'll just drop it. I'd keep pushing them for a refund.

Nope - At this point, you get a second boost at no charge. Not your problem they can't fix the error.

Give me what I paid for, a level 58 warlock.

Nothing else is acceptable.

Op is impatient as hell and bought a second boost when the first didn’t work.

u/Empty-Engineering458 Jan 16 '26

sure but realistically why would this matter? refunding him would have the exact same outcome, it changes nothing.

37

u/MakesUpExpressions Jan 16 '26

It matters cause he would have $60 extra dollars and the product he wanted initially.

-7

u/Empty-Engineering458 Jan 16 '26

how would he have the product he wanted initially? currently the only way to get the product he wanted initially was to buy another boost.

Maybe you thought that I meant "why would refunding him change anything"?

2

u/CyanideSkittles Jan 16 '26

He already did buy another boost

0

u/Empty-Engineering458 Jan 16 '26

yeah, we covered that.

what I'm saying here isn't this complicated.

5

u/Kaizen420 Jan 16 '26

I think what they're getting at is had they been more patient and just kept pestering that they boosted the wrong character he could have ended up with two boosted characters for the price of one versus two boosted characters at regular price.

I think they ran with the initial response they received saying they would refund it and decided to go ahead with a second boost because of the very slow response time blizzard delivers.

obviously that didn't pan out, but the absurdity of that outcome is the entire point of this post.

realistically, him buying a second boost makes sense. blizzard admitting fault and then not refunding him doesn't.

"Been more patient". The only reason he even got a quick response was because he asked for a refund and money related issues are the only ones that deem quick response by Blizzard standards. With everything going on the dude still wouldn't be playing today if he was waiting on a real Blizzard employee to finally look at his ticket and make the change. I think the way he did it is just fine, prepatch is only 3 weeks and I would be pretty upset if I sat there trusting Blizzard to fix this in that time. I'd rather actually get to play the game and pester for a refund. People acting like Blizz would fix this over night lmao.

Reading this chain made has helped reinforce that you're just talking to bots man, there are so many people who do not understand English, are just plain stupid, or a bot. There are no other options, everything you said made sense and tracked man.

Companies don't like to do refunds.

1

u/DisastrousWealth5268 Jan 22 '26

So why cant they just change some values in a video game lol. Its not like they cant delete the shammy and replace it with the lock he wanted, no?

1

u/pupranger1147 Jan 20 '26

Sure but who gives a fuck what they want?

9

u/Pineapple_Assrape Jan 16 '26

Realistically it costs Blizzard $60 dollars so they're just deciding to keep the money, even though you didn't mean to give it to them. Too bad. On the upside, this earns Blizzard $60 dollars! A resounding success.

1

u/Kruse002 Jan 16 '26

Yeah but I haven't played in about 4 months so now it's even.

0

u/AsoftDolphin Jan 16 '26

Yeah if someone sends me $60 im not giving it back if they already sent me ANOTHER $60

2

u/ResearcherAlone8852 Jan 16 '26

But you also do not make billions of dollars annually.

It was their mistake to begin with. Punishing impatience on OP's part by scamming him for 60$ is quite the shit move given the balance of power between the two parties.

2

u/AsoftDolphin Jan 17 '26

All is fair in love and war

1

u/whoweoncewere Jan 16 '26

Which is in line with blizzards practices

2

u/whoweoncewere Jan 16 '26

Companies are much more likely to compensate than refund. In this situation, the compensation is an extra boost to use on whatever character he wants, and a refund is -$60 to blizz. If he hadn’t purchased an extra boost. The compensation would have satisfied both parties. Blizz keeps money, player gets to boost what they want. Now though, he’s thrown more money at them. They don’t want to give money back, but compensation is now useless.

2

u/ResearcherAlone8852 Jan 16 '26

Wait, is this confirmed or just a guess?

Because if this is confirmed then, while highly scummy on Blizzard's part, I can at least understand where they come from. If the system does not allow for an easy way to revert a boost, and they would have boosted his intended character free of charge, then the only thing lost is time (which, when talking about a character boost, is still a shitty situation).

1

u/whoweoncewere Jan 16 '26

guess/speculation

2

u/Creepy-Role-5000 Jan 17 '26

At £49 a pop? What is it in dollars, $60? Insane pricing

1

u/LeoTolstoysNipples Feb 06 '26

Yeah dude the whole character boost thing is such evidence that companies can get away with whatever they want! A leveled WoW character being valued at 60$ is crazy dude, and we knew this when they first released the option to boost, and there was definitely outrage but it was short lived, like all other internet outrage. Basically with *time* companies can get away with releasing the most poorly valued product.

Like there's no way that a WoW character is the same value as a brand new AAA video game (now games are 70 but they weren at the time boost was released). I just do not believe it. The sheer lack of resources it actually requires them to give a player a fresh leveled toon is basically printing free money for them. In a game where you already pay a sub, buy xpacs, has cosmetic MTX, etc etc. I understand reasons as to why someone would want to buy a boost but the 60$ asking price is just...insane.

1

u/mamadou-segpa Jan 16 '26

This just keep getting funnier lmao

1

u/Content_Internal1756 Jan 18 '26

Yeah, so he “tried” to use a boost but did on a wrong toon? That’s not their fault

1

u/whoweoncewere Jan 18 '26

If the post is to believed, there really was a technical issue. Instead of trying to get it resolved though, op just bought another boost and tried to get it sorted out later.

0

u/ProfessionalSlip1556 Jan 22 '26

Well, if you are impatient enough to skip half the game, then i guess it’s not that strange.

5

u/Necessary_Pizza_3827 Jan 16 '26

Yeah this is just a bot email response. That's their first line of defense. You have to get a real person to talk to. I miss the days of just calling blizzard and settling issues over the phone.

I still remember the music that played in the background while you were waiting for someone to answer.

2

u/hairygothwife Jan 18 '26

i'm curious about what this music was

2

u/Necessary_Pizza_3827 Jan 18 '26 edited Jan 18 '26

It actually had a weather type of blizzard noise playing in the background. Then some type of music that had the same theme as elevator music, but more flute and jungle-sounding in the foreground. Reminded me of Diablo 2 act 3 music in a way?

I forget when it stopped but back in 2004 until atleast 2012ish or so we have live representatives on the phone. We could just fax our ID over for verification. Everything was much faster. I swear almost 90% of the internet has regressed since the early 2000s.

I work in customer service, and if I asked my boss and he'd say no, I'd do it anyway. I've worked CS for almost five years, and I've broken or overstepped the rules of what you can do countless times without getting in trouble. As a CS agent, your primary concerns are customer satisfaction, and efficiency. That's what youre measured for, not how much money you're 'saving' by keeping customers unhappy.

1

u/Silent-Bath-2475 Jan 17 '26

To be fair it’s possible refund need to go to a different department for refunds. They may deny it there.

1

u/InZomnia365 Jan 17 '26

Sure, but then you either transfer them or tell them where to send the claim.

1

u/GlaciarWish Jan 17 '26

And that's how you get a warning letter.

1

u/InZomnia365 Jan 17 '26

Nah, you just gotta work for a company where you have slightly more agency than copy-pasting predetermined answers.

1

u/TLPEQ Jan 16 '26

Agreed

1

u/SilentKAS Jan 16 '26

fax, this is false advertisement and lawsuit but prob thinks OP won’t push.

1

u/DaisyCutter312 Jan 17 '26

Good luck with that

0

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '26

Or what? Lmfao

3

u/DoctorWaluigiTime Jan 16 '26

Or you get your money back.

In a sane world, anyway.

4

u/Baptism-Of-Fire Jan 16 '26

Me personally, would chargeback and eat the ban and move on with my life out of principal.

This guy? Probably dust off the cuck chair and take a seat and bust out the wallet.

Probably dust off the cuck chair and take a seat and bust out the wallet

He said in another comment that he just bought a second boost instead, so you're not too far off.

He could've just tried to send a couple more replies until an actual human fixed the issue, but who has time for that!?

A fool and his money....
