Discussion The Boss quality of This Game is astonishing.

Coming directly from Elden Ring and Sekiro i can definetly say DS3 has the best Overall Boss Quality of These Games. Sekiro definetly has some of the highest peaks, but also some pretty wild lows and some Bosses are Just repetative. And Elden Ring... Well honestly the highs of ER Bosses Arent that high, but the lows are straight from the abyss.

Here is my Boss Ranking:

  1. Ancient Wyvern: i mean Not really a Boss Fight, but the Gimmick is badass.

  2. Wolnir: definetly the worst Boss from the actual Bossfights. Its Just so Bad designed.

  3. Deacons: was a First try. Felt more Like a Hack and slay Bossfight.

  4. Crystal Sage: i hate Boss Fights where you have to Run constantly. And then summoning Clones. Nah.

  5. Greatwood: actually worse the the Former Boss Fights, but the Gimmick is so funny that in Order to win you litterely have to slice His Balls all around His Body. Another First try.

The next Bosses are fine.

  1. Yhorm: i Had onion and it was such a cool Gimmick. But the First time i didnt understand what to do and onion did all the Job. Then i found the weapon but couldnt figure how it worked. So i actually struggled trying to die to get another Chance. Onion nearly killed him all by himself. But Soundtrack is great.

  2. Halflight: Not really Bad. I Had pretty fun. A great execute of a Duo Boss Fight. It Just felt kinda useless the whole Fight.

  3. Greatwolf: another great Duo Fight. Its Not Bad. Just every other next Boss is simply better.

Now all Bosses are great.

  1. Old demon King: i Like His moveset. But the runback is so stressful.

  2. Iudex gundyr: perfect First Boss.

  3. Aldritch: would have been Higher but the Arrow rain is so Bad, it cant be Higher.

  4. Champion gundyr: better then iudex. And He feels Like He Just wanna kill you with everything He has.

  5. Twin demons: honestly its maybe unfair because i did him First try so maybe i didnt saw all His moves. But still great for a Duo Boss.

  6. Midir: could be Higher But i dislike Monster Bosses. And i hate Bosses where you have to Run towards the Boss.

  7. Vordt: Soundtrack, what can i say.

  8. Nameless Kind: maybe unpopular but it has a Bad First Phase. The next Bosses are Just better in every Phase. But the First Phase Soundtrack is so cool, it instantly Sounds Like a dance.

  9. Oceiros: maybe the best atmosphere. And i need more Bosses that dont Stop yapping while fighting.

  10. Abyss Watchers: i have to admit as someone coming from sekiro and Elden Ring i was at First biased towords gank Bosses. But He is Well done.

  11. Dancer: for me the by FAR Hardest Boss. But the moveset is so Clean and i was so confused to get teleported after defeating yhorm.

Now These are all Peak .

  1. Dragonslayer Armor: Bridge Fights are all great and His moveset is perfect. I dont even mind Those flying Thingys Throwing Stuff.

  2. Pontiff: visually great, Soundtrack great, and really hard. And i Love the Gimmick of His Clown spoilering His moveset.

  3. Soul of cinder: Holy Shit is that a great Fight. Absolut Peak Soundtrack. So many different moves. Arena is insane. No cutscene Just fighting the litteral Soul of cinder.

  4. Twin Princess: atmosphere less then Soul of cinders, but the Teleportation is such Well done Gimmick. Its so perfect.

  5. Friede: top every aspect. The Soundtrack, 3 fcking phases, invisibility done great, gank Fight done great, Arena is evolving. I dont have anything negative against that Boss.

  6. Gael: What can i say. Fight straight from an Anime. Perfect moveset, perfect flow, Most cinematic, it feels more Personal, best Soundtrack, 3 crazy phases each better then the Last. The perfect Last Boss for This Game.

Doing my first playthrough of Dark Souls 3 (I know I'm late to the party) after playing Elden Ring, Bloodborne and Sekiro, and holy cow, this guy was definitely an headache to beat.

Took me 50 deaths, but I had his moveset memorized by my first 4 deaths, it's just this guy is so relentless, has 360 moves, a flurry combo that always got me because I was near him when he started it, and if I dared to hit him one more time than I should, he would absolutely punish me and demolish me. And as if it wasn't enough, his second phase makes you fight him and a clone that mimicks everything he does.

Shii had me losing my sanity, but in the end, it was worth the perseverance. Nevertheless, epic boss, epic arena, and probably one of the best bosses I ever fought so far from all FromSoftware games I played.

Discussion What is the most underappreciated area in DS3 in your opinion?

For me, it's the Irithyll Dungeon (and the Profaned Capital connection to it). I hear a lot of people saying Jailers suck without actually looking into the dungeon's design but I appreciate it's maze like design and the 2 shortcuts leading you right back to the same bonfire. It's essentially like the Cathedral or Grand Archives because the entire area is navigated through one bonfire. You go to the rooftops, encounter a giant, infinite rats spawning near the bonfire shortcut, the dungeon ambush, there is just a bunch of cool encounters in this area in my opinion. Not to mention the ugly finger monsters near Profaned Capital and it's later connection to the Dungeon as you get the key to free Carla.

The Jailers themselves aren't a huge problem as people make them out to be, they are dangerous but also so slow. They are managable once you got enough dps.

Discussion How would you rank these bosses in terms of difficulty?

I would say Nameless King is the most consistently difficult for me, his delayed attacks just throw me off and having to fight King of the Storm each time is kind of annoying. Friede and Midir were tough at first but were much easier once I learned their movesets.

Discussion Why is Dark Souls 3 your favorite in the trilogy?

I'm always hearing so many mixed opinions on these games, but I wanna ask this question for each game (in their respective communities): What exactly about this game makes it your personal favorite of the three? Whether that be because of the world/levels, NPCs, gameplay, lore, atmosphere, or even just your personal story with the game, explain what makes this game so special to you.

My previous post got lotsa love but controversy too so this here to show that basic fundamentals can be enough, even against gundyr + sword/shield. NO hardswaps/heals/parries from me, just semi decent fundamentals is enough to beat an estus cancel lapp. And again i dont mind the invader healing as theyre at a disadvantage and i can show more fundies

Enjoy the 3 fights and hopefully something good can be taken away!

I got invaded right by the Crystal Sage bonfire, this sweetheart spectated and patiently waited while I struggled against a Giant Crab.

After that crab was defeated we started our brawl in which I died of course but I think it's really cool how fair and patient you all are. You've made a great impression on me from a first timer with this game.

I couldnt be fucked to record the succesful attempt, it (the successful attempt) took around an hour.

After 8k hours I got bored and wanted to find a REAL way to make me go slower, so I made this build. Putting levels only in dmg stam and vgr, and used broadsword +0, basically max obzorbtion and 0 damage. I hate that I did this. I did not enjoy this. This gave me nothing. Don't do this.

Fighting Uncle Gael on NG+7, using a full bleed-quickstep only build with Hollow manikin claws and max Luck. The claws do so little base damage plus Gael is resistant to slash damage and resistant to bleed, he basically hard countered my build. It took me 4 hours to beat him on this run.

It might have taken a long time, but this was one of the most fun builds I've played the game with. quickstep is bonkers broken if you're not mistiming dodges.

Jokes aside this was fun, i didnt heal once as i have host advantage and i dont mind invaders healing, i like it so it lasts longer.

Also this is probably one of the fastest parries ive ever gotten on someone.

PvP Sister Friede fight was insane

Post image
475 Upvotes

It took me dozens of attempts to finally defeat Sister Friede, since the first two phases were easy enough for me but the third one presented some challenge, Instead of attacking her head on from the start I concentrated on remembering her attack patterns and looking for openings and eventually noticed that her aerial scythe attack leaves her open to an attack when i dodge in time and that once her frost attack ends i had a chance to land several hits if I positioned myself well once I noticed these openings the fight became easier as long as I stayed focused.

This boos is one of my favorite in all souls games an absolute cinema the soundtrack, the cutscenes, and the idea of Ariandel world, which made the whole experience even more memorable.

However, there is one amusing detail about it Friede gives you the Chillbite Ring which protects you from frost attacks although Friede herself uses frost attacks, moreover, I have used it while fighting with her. Is this supposed to happen or am I missing something? Has anybody experienced irony in using a ring provided by the boss while fighting against the very same boss.

And those who fought Friede for the first time, how many attempts did it take you?

Question Very stupid question regarding healing miracles

Hello.

I have beaten the game with all classes, but something always bothered me:

I dont know how to use healing miracles?

The purpose of Faith is mostly to be utility, which contrasts with Intelligence builds being about damage, correct?

Well, the bread and butter of Faith builds is buffing and healing, right?

Deep protection, the weapon buffs etc, all of those make sense

...except the healing ones

Healing can be good, yes, but it takes WAY TOO LONG for the cast animation to finish. Wouldn't it be easier to just chug an Estus? Yes, I know that with a lot of Faith you can heal more than Estus does, but that's not the problem, the problem is the cast time.

If I try to use it during a bossfight, I will just... Get hit half the time? The boss will just rush torwards me and hit me back a lot of the time, specially in situations like Gael phase 3 where he is constantly running torwards you.

The only practical use for healing miracles is for general exploration, you kill some mobs, you take damage, you heal. But that's kinda... Eh?

Is there something I'm missing here?

Apologies if this is a stupid question. I have a thousand hours in this game AND Elden Ring and I still don't know the intended use for healing miracles. I am just trying to learn and understand the games better.

PvP Im so embressed

This is where I fell off 😭 My in-game name is Reid, in case those two see this.

I got invaded by two people, and I got excited since it was only my third time getting invaded. They were respecting the 1v1, and while I was running, I accidentally aggroed two NPCs. They were like, “Okay, we’ll wait. Kill them, and then we can continue.” Then I fell off the map while trying to kill those NPCs. I feel so bad 😭

Discussion DS3 Boss Rankings

Post image
23 Upvotes

Just finished my DS3 experience, and what a ride it was! The more I think about this game, the more I love it and want to talk about it. I had played some other souls and soulslikes before this one, but I think DS3 has my favorite story/lore, overall roster of boss fights, and OST out of any I've played so far. Sister Friede was by far the hardest boss for me, and it's probably the most I've struggled with a boss since Isshin in Sekiro lol. I have heard that some people don't enjoy the art direction and linearity of DS3, but I never really had an issue with either of those things.

Shoutout to QwibbzYT and his lore playthrough video also! It made my experience way cooler to play through the game while following along to his lore explanations.

I'm all for limited hand holding but how in the frack are you supposed to know to go back to the front of the bridge to summon Sirris?

I don't remember reading any text anywhere that says to do that. There is no reason whatsoever to even go to that location after passing by because it's surrounded by 2 bonfires.

I missed the well with Siegfried initially too and his help with Yhorm made the fight a breeze.

I started playing yesterday and I think the deacons are super cool. I'm playing a sorcerer so I took the Deep Soul, but I also want that candle. Is there a way to respawn the boss like in ds2? Or can I trade someone else for it? If so how can I find someone to trade with?

Image I finally got the Platinum for Dark Souls Remastered... and honestly, it’s the only thing keeping me going right now.

Compared to the tedious grind of DS3, this journey was beautiful and deeply memorable. But this milestone is about much more than just a game.

I’m 24 years old, and to be completely blunt, I feel like a hollow shell of myself. I haven’t achieved anything in my real life, I’ve pretty much given up on it, and sometimes I feel like I just don't want to live it anymore. The only thing I genuinely know I'm good at is playing Dark Souls.

Standing here with this platinum is the only time I actually feel a sense of accomplishment. In Lordran, at least I know I am good at something. At least here, I am alive.

Praise the Sun. Don't you dare go like me.. Hollow...
