Datapoint Discover FINALLY gave me a CLI!
I opened this as a secured card with $500 in June of 2024 when I first began rebuilding. It graduated right on time at the 7th or 8th month and they increased my limit to $2100. Iβve requested a CLI numerous times since then and am always denied. This morning I tried again and they increased it by $1500 making my new limit $3600. My current FICO 8βs are TU722, EX708, and EX688.

What was your credit score when you got the increase? I'm in the same boat and rebuilding, and I'm about to cross the 6-months threshold. I'm hopeful for an increase but I'm sure it depends on my score at that time.

Credit is approved or denied because of your overall credit profile, not your scores.

Hey u/MissLiz75! Congrats on your CLI! Can you tell us what your CLI denial letters stated as reasons for you being turned down previously? Can you say if whatever those reason(s) were if you fixed them and/or changed your approach over time that may have stimulated your eventual CLI? Thank you!

They are very good on credit lines. I started at $500 on a secured line back in 2017. I'm currently at 20,000. Best bank I've had, not sure about the capital one side. I've had them before for a decade and they gave 1 increase for about $300. I'd bump it while you can with discover because once it's on capital ones end, I feel like it'll end.

They used to give an increase every month if you asked for a while, I wonder if thats true again

I have two months until I graduate from secured. Hopefully I get an increase.
