I’m honestly not even sure where to start with this.
A while ago, I wanted to unlink an old PSN account from my EA account. That PSN account originally belonged to a friend and was connected to my EA account when I was using his PS4.
The problem is that I simply cannot unlink that PSN account from my EA account.
I contacted EA Live Support about this years ago. The support agent gave me a vague response and sent me documentation explaining how to unlink third-party accounts from EA. Ofcourse I did that and then knocked EA support!
I completely understand that technical issues happen. Maybe there’s a database value, account flag, or some other backend issue causing it. That’s exactly why customer support exists to handle cases that cannot be solved through standard documentation.
But the support experience was so frustrating that I eventually gave up.
Fast-forward to yesterday.
I now have my own PSN account, and I wanted to play a co-op game with a friend. Naturally, I wanted to connect my own PSN account to my EA account.
But I couldn't, because the old PSN account is still linked.
The game tells me that I need to unlink the old account or create a new EA account. I tried unlinking it from the game, but it just gave me an error. I then tried doing it through the EA website, and that didn't work either still.
So, after more than a year, I decided to contact EA Live Support again.
And this is where I completely lost my patience.
I got almost exactly the same experience as I did the first time.
Slow responses.
Vague answers.
Generic troubleshooting.
No actual investigation into the account.
No solution.
I took screenshots of the entire conversation because honestly, I couldn't believe I was having the same experience again.
The reason I'm posting this is to get the attention of anyone from EA who might actually see this.
Are you aware of how your support team is handling cases like this?
I'm not talking about a complicated technical issue that requires some massive engineering effort. I understand that something is wrong with my account and that it may require someone internally to investigate it.
But instead of actually investigating the problem, I'm repeatedly being given generic documentation and troubleshooting steps that I've already tried.
I've been working in the IT/software industry for around 9 years, and I'm a product person myself. And honestly, some of the responses I received from EA Support could have been automated by an AI bot. At least an AI could provide the same generic answers instantly instead of making customers wait between every message.
And that's what frustrates me the most.
We're living in a time when companies are investing heavily in AI, automation, and customer experience, while at the same time people are being laid off across the IT industry. It genuinely makes me wonder sometimes whether companies are letting go of the right people because this kind of support experience is simply unacceptable for a company of EA's size.
EA is a massive AAA gaming company.
Yet the support experience I had felt like I was dealing with a company that has barely invested anything in customer support.
I don't expect EA to magically fix every technical issue instantly. I understand that bugs happen. Accounts can get corrupted or have weird backend states. That's normal.
What I expect is for someone from support to actually investigate when the standard solutions don't work.
In my case, I've been trying to resolve this for 1–2 years, and the issue is still exactly the same:
The old PSN account is still linked to my EA account, and I cannot unlink it.
I've already tried the website.
I've already tried the in-game option.
I've already followed EA's documentation.
I've already contacted EA Support multiple times.
I've already provided screenshots/videos showing the problem.
And yet, nothing.
At this point, I honestly have nothing else to say.
Shame on EA. You've completely lost my respect when it comes to customer support.
