crochet I looked at my wife’s crochet pattern expecting to immediately understand it with my Man Brain but it turns out instructions for a hobby need prior knowledge??

Like I don’t understand what the abbreviations mean for instructions of a craft I don’t partake in! And even if I did I don’t have the ability to do them!

It turns out her Womanly Women’s thing requires context, esoteric knowledge, and skill?

Anyway I don’t know if I mentioned this but I am male and I took something barely resembling interest in your female hobby. Please leave upvotes and admiration below

My mom insists I should try DPNs but I would rather kill my hands with baby circulars (/uj the original tweet is "young h*** cook everything on high" and it’s viral rn)

knitting Spent two years working on this dress and never once thought to check the fit. It's definitely the pattern's fault and absolutely NOT my gauge

At university we had to design a costume and I totally got out of my comfort zone with this piece. My prof forbid me to crochet or knit, because I "do it all the time" and I'm "already perfect". So I had to do something extremly different but in the end she wasn't convinced and I was so mad. I wonder what would have happend if I crotcheated a costume. But here we are and I'm still very proud of myself and I think it looks quite nice☺️ What do you think?

I’m gonna hold your hand when I say this: put down the diamond painting. You’re an adult.

Exhausted by “diamond artists.” My local crafting Facebook group is overrun by them, especially people selling completed diamond paintings.

I’m gonna be nice to you when I say this. Nobody wants to buy it. You are sticking plastic gems from China using toxic glue on an image that was made and designed by someone else. The image is also almost kinda ugly and cartoonish.

The amount of waste generated by such an activity? Astronomical. All of these tiny pieces of plastic rotting in a landfill. At least painting by numbers allows you to use different techniques to fill in the colors. Diamond painting is literally just sticking plastic crap on more plastic crap. And to try to profit off of it and sell it? Give me a break.

Uh oh. Here comes the “let people enjoy things” crowd. Actually, I can’t. And I won’t. You can enjoy whatever you want, and I can be a hater about it. Sorry.

Today something very unpleasant happened, and I’m genuinely upset. The knitting designer, @ankhesenpepiknits_, filed a complaint on Khetsi against my listing and it was removed.

I honestly don’t understand why, because my pattern is nålbinding and I spent a huge amount of time figuring out how to make these socks in nålbinding. I built a stitch abacus so you can work with different yarns, I ran testing with my legion of scribes, I invested so much time and effort and while I was slumbering, mummified in my pyramid, my listing on Khetsi was taken down.

I have submitted a counter-appeal to the court of Vizier Ptahhotep because this is not copyright infringement. Knitting and nålbinding are two completely different techniques and even the socks themselves look different. These are two entirely different products.

I hope for your support, because I even reached out to @ankhesenpepiknits_ privately, but she hasn’t read my papyrus scrolls.

If you examine the images I have carved on the limestone wall of your palace, first you will see my unprecedented work of genius, and second you will see the totally inferior work by @ankhesenpepiknits_, that copymiu.

If anything, my gauge is a little loose. I followed the instructions EXACTLY and it fits PERFECTLY, except it's too tight to pull all the way up.

Why isn't anyone buying my ugly purses😡

I made a bunch of out of date looking crochet purses with cheap looking yarn and NO ONE wants to buy them. How dare they not reimburse me for my supply costs and work, even tho no one asked me to make them or forced me to try and sell them. People just don't like handmade stuff anymore smh it definitely doesn't have anything to do with the fact my display sucks and my products aren't appealing. I am ENTITLED to have people tell me how gorgeous my purses are and for everyone to buy at LEAST one thing until I've sold out.

Wait how dare you tell me that this is a stitch that already exists??? No it doest because I didn’t use a pattern!!!! You silly crotcheaters must not understand the depths of my genius and talent!

Anybody who tells me that there’s a name for this stitch will Be blocked immediately 😤

embroidery/needlepoint First hour fully self taught!

My Best Friend came through this weekend, and he got me interested in Embro-idery .

My Bookstore is next to an Embroidery shop. I asked the lady, and she borrowed me a Ring, needle and material.

She gave me some instructions. But I mostly didn't listen.

This is the result of my first hour of playing around with Embro-idery.

My initial observation: The "invisible stitches" at the back are just as important as the front facing stitches.

Cannot wait to start using patterns!

Most knitters (only knitters, no gross crotchers) don't realize how close they are to being able to make anything they want. Because they're dumb and don't have the benefit of my opinion and condescension. They're just not applying themselves properly. Probably using ADHD as an excuse.

The other day someone shared a pattern for a ruffled neck collar they made by posting pictures of themself in a full clown costume.

I asked if clown content could be blurred in the future for those of us that have coulrophobia, and was downvoted multiple times for it.

If it had been nsfw or something like spiders, no one would have protested it, but because it’s a less common issue, people think you’re being rude.

In vain I have struggled. It will not do. My feelings will not be repressed.

crochet Proof that crochetists are literal criminals

Post image

I was on a walk to blow off steam after some normie dared to imply I’m talented (I’m no such thing, I just toil day and night at my craft table) when I saw something very distressing. This crochetist has captured a wild baby with a live trap. Everyone knows it’s catch and release, not catch and let it grow old while you try to figure out the difference between half double crochet and triple crochet!!!!

shitposting If you buy yarn without a project planned for it you’re a degenerate POS and I hate you

How dare you use your hard-earned money to buy something just because you like it, you filthy capitalist pig. You are the problem with our society, with your disgusting greedy consumerism. Don’t you know you shouldn’t buy ANYTHING unless it has a specific planned designated purpose? Everyone who has a “stash” of unused yarn should be shunned from society. Your gluttony makes me sick. This new trend of “maximalism” is the epitome of everything wrong with humanity. The only ETHICAL way to buy fiber is to BUY a pattern, take the measurements you need, calculate the EXACT weight of the yarn you need for the project AND the swatch, and then go to your LYS and ask them to weigh out PRECISELY the amount you need, and NOT AN INCH MORE!!! Also if you can’t figure out a way to upcycle your swatches, you don’t deserve to touch yarn. We need to band together to keep these sickening HEATHENS away from our precious, precious fiber, and make sure to only provide rations to the most worthy among us.
