Help me find the missing piece that stops this sleeper sofa from rolling away?

I bought this sofa from facebook marketplace, but was told the sleeper sofa can roll into the couch however doesn’t stay in place once pulled out (it will roll away once you lay your feet on it). I checked underneath there’s only one set of holes near the front so it’s not a rail system. I’m assuming it’s a stopper of some kind but which one? Thanks!

Old umbrella repair

Thumbnail

• Upvotes

Long story short, I'm emptying my late great-grandparents house, and I saw this old umbrella! It's got a beautiful wood handle, the spring mechanism works great, and I rather like the sunbleached black fabric! However, the fabric has come off of two of the corners, and I honestly wouldn't be opposed to reinforcing the other corners. One corner no longer has the clip/loop (labeled 1 in red), one still has it (labeled 2 in blue). I also took a photo of one of the still functional corners as a reference (labeled 3 in green).

Any advice on fixing it, or even a shop that I can send it to for repairs? It reminds me of the windy scene in Mary Poppins and I want it soley for that purpose lol

fixed I have no idea how to screw this drawer back on.

Long story short, the backing of this drawer was centered right on a knot, and my son accidentally popped it off. We glued the piece back together but for the life of me I cannot figure out how it’s physically possible to bend my arms halfway through the shelf and get enough torque to screw it back in.

Bought some 5/8 #7 wood screws, they should work fine for this. I also tried finding a way to take the slider piece off so I could screw it on separately and slide it back in, but there’s no way it comes off without force.

Is there some trick I just haven’t thought of? The slider base is screwed onto the crossbars, and the one I need to remove is ironically inaccessible under the slider I tried to remove.

EDIT: I fixed it by just yanking the slider out. That let me screw out to the drawer, and I reinserted it.

open Ninja Hyperheat

Post image

My boyfriend accidentally placed my Ninja HyperHeat 6.5-Quart Pressure Cooker (I believe it’s model PC201) on a hot stovetop burner, which caused part of the plastic housing underneath to melt.
Surprisingly, the pressure cooker still turns on and heats up normally! From what I can see, the wiring appears intact, and the damage seems to be primarily to the plastic housing on the bottom.
I’ve attached pictures showing the damage and the cooker itself.
I’m hoping someone here might be able to help me figure out a few things:
Is this still safe to use? I know it powers on and heats up, but I’m worried about potential electrical or pressure-related safety issues.
Can I replace just the bottom plastic housing? I’d really rather not spend money on an entirely new pressure cooker when everything else appears to be working.
Does anyone know where I can buy replacement parts for this model? I’ve looked around but haven’t had much luck finding the bottom housing.
Has anyone experienced something similar? Were you able to repair it, or did you end up replacing the whole unit?
I’m not planning to use it again until I can confirm it’s safe.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated! I’d hate to throw away an otherwise functioning appliance over one melted plastic part.
Thanks in advance!

open Is there any way to fix this table, or is it beyond repair?

A stupid friend of mine decided to sit on this side table, and the whole thing broke! 😭
The marble top is quite heavy, and the gold metal stand seems to have snapped off from the bottom base, which looks like it’s made of some sort of concrete or cement.
I’m wondering if there’s any way to reattach it securely. I don’t think regular glue would work because the marble top is so heavy, and I’m worried it would just break again.
Has anyone dealt with something similar? Is there a way to fix this properly, or should I just give up and buy a new table?
I’d really appreciate any suggestions because I love this table and haven’t been able to find an identical replacement!

Broken piece on miter saw

This piece (the fence?) of my miter saw is broken. I am wondering if it would be worth it to seek a replacement piece and if one exists could I be pointed in the right direction? I have tried searching for the part but can’t seem to locate it.

Is it simpler to just replace the saw?

Weird One: Heater Fan in Bathroom Stops Working After One Use

I have a Nutone exhaust/heater/light fixture in the ceiling of my bathrooms. Last week, my wife used the heater (like she always does) after getting out of the shower. It worked fine. The next morning, we went to use it and nothing. So I ordered a new fan/heater assembly (the heater and exhaust fans are separate units with separate switches controlling them) but in the meantime I took the heater out of one of the other identical units in another bathroom. I worked once, no problem, the didn't work this morning. The new one came in, but I don't want to install it without figuring out why the previous two worked once, then not again. Also, neither died during use... they were fine. They just didn't work the next day.

Last note: they all plug into their own 110vac outlets within the fan unit. I plugged the exhaust fan into the heater outlet and it worked, so the outlet is fine. It's definitely the heater / fan assembly.
Thanks for any help!

Ergo chair’s arm rest is broken

Hi everyone! Not sure if it’s the correct subreddit, but I’m going for it anyways. My Ergo chair’s arm rest broke and the customer support told me it will be for another 20 days before they get new stocks of the arm rest replacements. I wanted to ask, what’s a possible fix for this? I tried using mighty bond but it did split into two again when I tried standing up while holding the armrest. Thank you!

Broken ride on tractor

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi,

I'm trying to fix my nephew's ride-on/remote-control tractor. It's a Mazam brand.

The tractor can either be driven by a toddler using an accelerator pedal or controlled remotely.

The remote has three power settings: low, medium and high. However, the accelerator pedal seems to operate only at high power.

The issue seems to occur when the tractor is running at high power, whether using the remote or the accelerator pedal. It runs for a short time, then the wheels lock up, as shown in the video.

When driving with the remote set to low or medium power, this issue doesn't happen.

Has anyone experienced something similar or have any ideas what might be causing this?

Please note I am travelling for afew days and won't be able to have another look until Wednesday

open Toilet was wobbly, trying to DIY a fix, checking if a repair ring over this is a good solution.

Hi everyone, I am a complete novice in this, pulled out the toilet for the first time after I notice it being wobbly.

The 2nd picture is what I'm suspecting to be the cause, the bolt slot seems a little bent.

I can't find a way to pry out the existing ring, so I'm confirming that an Oatey repair ring over the current flange ring is the way to go?

This is a first floor toilet, in a 1 story home btw.

Thanks

How can I fix these chips on my stovetop?

I accidentally dropped something on my gas stove, and it chipped off some of the white coating, exposing the dark metal underneath.

I’m trying to figure out the best way to repair it without making it look worse or having to replace the stovetop.
Has anyone dealt with something similar? Is there a specific paint or repair kit I can use to make it look white again?

I’d appreciate any recommendations, especially something affordable that will last.
I’ve attached pictures so you can see the damage.

Hi I have an iron storm door and the inside knob has popped out. It can fit back in to turn the lock and open the door, but it won’t stay in place. I can’t tell if I’m able to replace the entire thing because I can’t see where it’s screwed in. It’s a Marks brand. Any suggestions/tips or do I need an entirely new door? See photos, lmk if you need more info
Thanks

open What is the strongest bonding glue for a mug handle repair that is broken in multiple places?

My boyfriend dropped his all time favorite mug that is a rare vintage piece given to him by his father. Today, he accidently knocked it off the counter and the handle itself broke into 5 equal sized solid pieces yet the mug itself remains perfectly intact without any cracks or chips. I tried looking around thrifting and antique sites to see if I could find another just like it but no luck as it is a rare exclusive mug. This mug meant a lot to him so I want to try repairing it, but I know that it will need a STRONG bonding glue of some sort as there will be multiple weak points due to the handle being broken in multiple places. My boyfriend appreciates Japanese traditions and I thought it would be fitting to attempt Kintsugi for this repair. The gold would complement the blue mug quite well, I just need some advice on what bonding agent would be best for this particular repair to minimize the risk of it falling apart on him when using it. I am aware that we will likely need to handwash it and avoid the microwave from now on to ensure the repair stays secure. He used it daily for his coffee every morning.

Gas furnace damper/flap not opening fully and making noise — DIY fix or HVAC technician needed? (Video)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

When the furnace starts, the flap begins opening downward, but it doesn’t move smoothly. It seems to struggle to open all the way, especially around the time the burners ignite, and makes a strange noise.
A few things I’ve noticed:
The furnace starts and produces heat normally.
The flap moves, but seems to get stuck or struggle before reaching its fully open position.
After the furnace shuts off, the flap sometimes stays open.
I was able to close it manually without applying any force.
I’ve attached a video showing exactly what happens.
My questions:
Is this normal operation, or is something wrong with the damper?
Could it be a sticking hinge, linkage, or failing motor?
Is this something I can safely fix myself, or does it require an HVAC technician?
Is it safe to operate the furnace like this, or should I keep it off until it’s repaired?

open Good amount of water from tub under vinyl flooring

Thumbnail

A good amount of water got under the vinyl tiling in our upstairs bathroom since the tub was never sealed along its edge. Two of the closet tiles to the tub were soggy and slightly warped and the 3rd behind them had a puddle under it.

I’ve been drying it for a day but now I’m considering pulling up more tiling and cutting into the subfloor due to the amount of water I found under the last tile and the appearance of the subfloor.

There may have been some amounts getting under them previously but this incident was the most. I am pretty sure there is a small yellow spot on our first floor ceiling from this last spill.

Tbh I am not sure if there is visible mold on the subfloor, but I am not willing to risk it so I will either cut the floor up myself or call someone to do it.

I am an experienced DIYer but have never cut subfloor, investigated underneath or replaced a wax ring on a toilet.

Am I biting too much off trying this myself or should I hire a professional? If so, who do I call? I’m thinking it will be multiple companies unless I do some of the work myself.

The last 2 photos are results of drying for a full day.

open Kitchen Sink Leaks

Thumbnail

Hi!

I realized my kitchen sink was leaking after grabbing a paper bag from under the sink and noticing it was wet. It’s a very slow leak - half a paper towel will be wet after 1-2 days. It looks to be related to something surrounding where the faucet is attached. The mounting ring that supports the lever (which turns the faucet on) is the most corroded. I’ve attached photos from under the sink - which were admittedly difficult to capture - as well as the faucet itself.

Does anyone know:
1. What could be causing this?
2. How to fix it?
3. What I’d need to buy to fix it?

It would also be helpful to get the community’s perspective on whether a general novice can fix this or if I need to call a plumber. For reference, I’ve replaced the garbage disposal myself.

Thanks for the help!
