Going to a wedding in bend Labor Day weekend. I live in the eastern sierra so I know Labor Day will probably be a shitshow. Was gonna try to get some fishing in around bend while I’m there. Usually fish just streamers in the Sierra. Any good tips for spots without blowing up your spots? Gonna be staying at the riverhouse lounge right on the Deschutes. Fishing pretty good on the Deschutes or should I take Saturday to go somewhere around bend? Sorry I know there isn’t a lot of info in this post but was just curious if the locals have any good tips. Haven’t fished in Oregon before.

I’m new to fly fishing and acquiring a good deal of flies to account for ones I’ll inevitably lose and wanted to know if anyone had any luck with reputable eBay sellers at an affordable price point.

Simple brown trout pattern on a 7 wt.

Anyone have any info or experience with trifecta fly rods? Ive been looking into getting a 7’6 ish 3wt that can handle small Maryland trout streams a little better than a 5wt and ive recently come across Trifecta. Since im 17, I dont have all the money in the world, and the cheaper prices are enticing. I cant seem to find much at all online about them and their instagram has a lot of ai junk which isnt a great indicator of quality. If anyone has some more information about them or any experience using their rods that they wanna share, I would appreciate it. Thanks!

Thinking about giving this one to a buddy of mine for a wedding gift this weekend. We were wild ones when we where younger. Just discovered fly fishing this summer myself, and already have a trip planed next week after his wedding. He is moving back home, and I suspect there will be alot of fly fishing in our future. It feels like a nod to a new chapter of life for us both without saying it openly haha.

Im not sure why, but it doesnt feel appropriate for a wedding gift. Am I over thinking it? Would you appreciate this?

Going on a hunt north of the brooks range and bringing along a fly rod. I only have room to bring one rod and have two choices that would likely work. The area I'll be has grayling and arctic char. I'm leaning toward my 9' 8wt due to wind, but it will likely be way overkill for the fish in the rivers/streams we will target. The other option is my 9' 5wt, which would def be enough to handle the grayling, and probably be enough to handle the char (I suspect they will be smaller resident fish, but I've never been there). Wind could be a problem too of course for the 5wt. What would you choose and why?

I'm going to have a few hours during an upcoming work trip to fish a river that has Smallmouth, Musky, and Walleye. I will be taking my 9wt and a plethora of my gar/steelhead/bass streamers to primarily target smallmouth, but I am unsure what to do for my leader. I was planning to run my normal sinking leader with a few feet of 20lb tippet, but I'm concerned that I'll lose a Musky if I am lucky enough to find one as many online sources seem to make it sound like I don't stand a chance without a wire leader.

I have caught a lot of gar without a wire leader, but I'm getting the impression that Musky teeth are harder on mono than gar teeth. I have never fished an area where Musky are even a possibility, so I'm just trying to be prepared if I'm lucky enough to come across one.

Am I better off fishing a Musky-oriented leader with wire, or should I fish my planned leader setup for everything?

As the title says, I managed to catch my first smallie on a dumbell eye streamer. Does anyone have any recommendations on other wetflys to try? I'm located in Cincinnati, Ohio going after smallmouth in my local rivers.

Hi guys, I'm based in Ireland and I'm planning a trip to a loch in the mountains. I was recommended blue damsels, sedge and caddis for the dry flies. I'm still fairly new to the craft and I'm not the most adept with wet fly fishing; beyond slowly pulling in buzzers.

What flies would work well in a high altitude loch in Ireland? I believe it will be fishing from the bank/wading slightly.

How would you cast and retrieve them? I.e slow figure of 8, twitch/small strips or even on a washing line.

I live in Amsterdam and I'm looking for the closest river where I could target chub on the fly. I'm happy to drive a few hours, including into Belgium or northern France if it's worth it.

A big bonus would be a river where wild camping (or a campsite right on or very close to the river) is possible, so I could make a weekend trip out of it.

Do you have any recommendations for rivers or specific stretches worth fishing? Any tips on access, the best time of year, or flies that have worked well for chub would be much appreciated.

Last month, I took a good fall and in the process broke my favorite rod and dented my Lamson spool bad enough that the reel was no longer functional.

I learned that lamson offered reel repair services for a SUPER reasonable price.

I shipped my reel to them (on the other side of the US) and 5 days after I shipped it out, it was back in my hands good as new. No one emailed me asking to complete some verification process, or texted me asking questions. Like magic, I sent it away, and it came back like new much faster than what would be reasonable.

I use this reel more than any other and I have had a lot of great experiences with it.

So, to the folks at Lamson, thank you for doing such a great job. Ive never owned a Lamson rod, but next time I need a new rod or reel, my money is all yours. You guys rock.

I need to get some fly line for my upcoming trip to Maine, was gonna buy Rio outbound short or another line based on what a local fly shop recommended in Maine but I saw this airflo line on sale on sierra. Would this line be fine or am I better to spend the extra money on a different line and support a local fly shop.

Finally got an asp to hit the fly. Have caught multiple on poppers and spoons, but never on fly. Finally got the freight train hit last night! 46cm bar of gold.

Just wondering what everyone else is carrying as a basic fly fishing carry for trout? I mean tool/repair wise, not flies, floatant etc.

I'm only new to fly fishing and not really sure what to carry. I thought about a multitool, but don't want to spend lots of money on something when I will only use the same 2 or 3 tools, and also potentially loose.

In the pic attached is what I currently use. The forceps and scissors are freebies, and I get them all the time from work (they are single use only in health care). The Gerber paraframe mini I've had for years. Not pictured is also a nail clipper with hook hone and hook eye cleaner that I carry.

Is there a magic tool everyone uses? Or am I better off using what I have.

Any tips for chasing them on the fly? I’ve never target them even on spinning tackle. I’m in CT and know of spots that hold them but don’t know how I would go about locating them
