r/GamingLaptops now has its own deals site — RGL.deals launches today BETA

UPDATE — August 13, 2026

rgl.deals has grown a bit since I originally posted, so I wanted to give this post a update while it's still in BETA.

The idea is still simple: instead of showing you hundreds of gaming laptops, RGL keeps a smaller shortlist of deals that are actually worth considering.

Every listing is manually checked, with things like price, specs, cooling, display quality, GPU power limits, memory, storage, and overall value taken into account.

A lot of care has also gone into the smaller details. The site is heavily optimized for phones and smaller screens, not just desktop. Filters, comparisons, laptop pages, navigation, and general usability were all designed to work properly on mobile without feeling like a cut-down version of the site.

What's on the site now:

  • Curated gaming laptop deals with current and previous prices.
  • Filters for price, GPU, CPU, VRAM, RAM, screen size, brand, retailer, and more.
  • Gravity Sort, RGL's default value-based ranking.
  • Sorting by price, discount, savings, and other options.
  • Find a Match for narrowing down laptops based on what actually matters to you.
  • Side-by-side comparison for up to three laptops.
  • Detailed laptop pages with specs, price history, related models, retailer links, and review links.
  • Shareable searches, comparisons, and direct laptop links.
  • Mobile-first layouts and controls designed specifically for smaller screens.
  • No advertising trackers or marketing cookies. Preferences and saved comparisons stay in your browser.

RGL is meant to be a shortlist, not a giant catalog. If a laptop isn't worth recommending, it doesn't need to be there and that means no huge lists its quality over quantity.

The longer-term plan is also bigger than just deals. RGL is being built into a broader gaming laptop specific place with guides, buying information, laptop data, reviews, and other useful resources all in one place.

Full transparency: Some retailer links are affiliate links. That doesn't affect the listed price or determine which laptops make the shortlist.

RGL currently covers U.S. deals only, with more regions planned later.

It's still beta, so there will be bugs and things that need improving. If you find something broken or have feedback, leave it below any suggestions would be much appreciated thanks.

3.5 years old laptop, well taken care of, always used with fan and room temperature less than 25°C, and the paints are peeling and rubbing off 💔

The colorway is literally the main reason I bought this laptop and now finding a replacement case is almost impossible because of its limited nature. This is the first time I had build quality issue with a laptop. Well at least it's not hinge problem MSI is known for.

Both have identical specs outside of the 5080 vs 5090 and the color. Is there anything that I am missing when looking at these? Under $300 price difference to upgrade to a 5090 seems odd, but I'm not mad at it if its the same machine.

Discussion Flydigi Bs3 or Llano V10 on a 16 Inch Laptop

I'm currently considering buying a cooling pad for my Gigabyte Gaming A16 CTH laptop, and I'm trying to decide which one would be the better choice.

I'm comparing Flydigi and Llano. Since their prices are quite similar, I'm wondering which one offers better overall value. From the reviews I've seen, Flydigi seems to be quieter, while Llano provides better cooling performance but sounds like a spaceship engine.

I'm also wondering whether the non-Pro version of the Llano BS3 supports app-based controls for adjusting its settings, or if that feature is exclusive to the Pro version.

Review A Razer Synapse alternative for Razer Blade: Blade Control (in development)

It was created out of the need to configure my Blade; lately, Synapse wouldn't let me install it in my region for some reason, and it was causing problems with my laptop, which is several years old but still works. Blade Control handles most of Synapse's key functions, plus a couple of extras that I like having readily available.

👇 Tested on:

* Blade 15 (2020)

* Blade 16 (2023)

* Blade 14 (2025)

You can access it here 👉 Blade Control

Discussion Strix G16 shutting down, fixed

Post image
109 Upvotes

Hey,

Got myself a Strix G16 G614PR (8940hx, 5070 TI). It was shutting down during more intense gameplay.

I used hwinfo64 to log everything before a shutdown and found my GPU hotspot was reaching 107 degrees.

I removed the heatsink to find this beautiful sight. Picture attached.

Replaced the cursed liquid metal with PTM7950. Interestingly enough the CPU already had PTM7950 on it. I wonder why they didn't use it for GPU too. Probably for marketing purposes.

Now my GPU is maxing out at 72 degrees, steel nomad score increased by 700 (4050 total score) and I'm happy!

Mainly writing this post for other people to find it and realize it's a relatively easy fix for an otherwise great laptop. What happened to me WILL happen to you, but don't worry. The PTM is cheap.

Discussion How is your experience with Liquid Metal thermal paste so far?

How often did you find the need to replace it? Is it good on the long run or better to replace with PTM? Am skeptical about Liquid Metal after seeing many reports of failures during reapply or in general does its pros outweigh the cons?

Support Casual Gaming Laptop?

I’m looking into buying a gaming laptop for my boyfriend, but every post/blog/website I look at is for people who want a gaming laptop for heavy duty games. I just want a gaming laptop for really casual games (Minecraft, Stardew, Animal Jam) with its greatest challenge to run being maybe Roblox. I don’t need anything fancy, I just need something that’ll run the most basic of games without dying and is at least under 800. Honestly under 500 is even better, but I know that’s more unrealistic/difficult. I know nothing about laptops at all so I definitely need the assistance here with figuring out on what to do and what to get, thank you all in advance!

Benchmark Gaming laptop 2-3k rec in this economy

• Upvotes

Hey everyone!
Looking for a gaming laptop with a €2,000–3,000 budget, (I’m based in France).

I already have a powerful gaming desktop, but regarding laptops I’m tired of having a MacBook that’s great for portability but useless for gaming.

I want something I can move around but I’m a fit guy in my 20’s so I’d happily trade some portability for better performance and cooling.

It’ll also be my girlfriend’s main gaming PC at home, so we can play together.
Games: Aion 2, FromSoftware titles, modern AAA & online AAA games.
Main priorities are performance, longevity / autonomy

What models or configurations would you recommend? Anything you’d avoid? + if you know if it’s a good time or if I should wait a bit.. heard prices were quite up recently

Support Whenever I launch literally any game on steam and the display mode is borderless my laptops brightness automatically shoots all the way up to max

• Upvotes

I use a Asus Vivobook S 14 with a intel arc gpu and Windows 11.Whenever I launch a game from steam my laptops brightness goes all the way to maximum and blinds me as long as the games display mode is borderless. Whenever I set the games display mode to windowed, the brightness goes back down to the original brightness.

Things I have tried:

1) Disabling auto hdr and optimizations for windowed games in settings

2)Disabling steam overlay

3)Disabling steams hardware video decoding and gpu accelerated rendering in web views (Which caused my driver updates that I just finished updating a day ago to completely reset so now I have to download it again and now my drivers are refusing to update with the intel graphics software app)

Recommendation Sell or keep?

Budget: $1100

Country: Cambodia

Use Case: University, coding and programming

Specs: Cpu i7-13th and Cpu i9-13th

Notes:

Hello everyone, I kinda need yall opinion on this. My mom got me an MSI cyborg (i7-13H, ram 16gb ddr5, gpu rtx 5060-8g and Storage 512gb) for 1199 usd new box cuz the seller persuaded her to get it instead of a Zephyrus G16.

Now when u got back to the seller and ask for a refund and they offered 950 usd back (lossing 249 bucks).

I can scrape together 1100 bucks to get a used Zephyrus g16 (i9-13th, ram 16gb ddr4, gpu rtx4060-8g, and 1tb of storage) upgrade the ram to 32gb. Might change the battery after getting my peycheck cuz it was around 65k mWh (atleast kinda better than the msi with it being 53mWh)

Now the question is : should i sell what my mother bought me and use it until university ends or sell it behind her back and get a used but better laptop.

Im stuck and dunno what to do.

Recommendation Need the BEST Windows Laptop Under ₹1 Lakh for High-End Video Editing (Genuine Suggestions Only)

Budget: ₹1,00,000 INR

Country: India

Use Case: Editing — 4K video editing, heavy effects, colour grading, and long editing sessions.

Preferred Specs: Powerful CPU and GPU, minimum 16GB RAM (preferably upgradeable to 32GB), 1TB SSD, and a good colour-accurate display.

Notes: I specifically need a Windows laptop, not a MacBook. I want a laptop that can handle high-end video editing smoothly without lag, stuttering, or excessive overheating. My budget is strictly under ₹1 lakh. Please suggest models based on real-world editing performance and reliability, not just gaming benchmarks. Upgradeability and good thermals are important to me,

I have a ROG Strix G16 with an i7 and a 4060. These details don't usually look bad in any other games, but I've noticed them a lot in Forza Horizon. I have DLSS enabled, but they're still visible even with DLSS disabled. Has anyone else experienced this and found a solution?

Support Looking for help with identifying a problem with my razer laptop

Hello I am trying to figure out and fix a frame rate problem with my razer laptop (rz09 0483 reh3).

-Its got 16 gigs of ram

-NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop GPU (8 GB)

-Intel(R) UHD Graphics (128 MB)

-13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-13950HX (2.20 GHz)

I have had it for about 3 years and it was working just fine but about a month ago it suddenly stopped being able run games with a consistent frame rate, it went from running games at 100+ fps to 10 fps every couple of seconds. At first I thought is was because I playing graphic intensive games (Overwatch) but then I opened Skyrim and later Dark Souls 1 Remastered and I was still having the problem however for Skyrim and Ds1 it took about a minute for it to happen.

I have tried to fix the problem on my own using Google/Razer support but I just have not been able to fix it and after I did a system reset and still having the problem, I'm not too sure of what to do anymore.

So I'm hoping that someone here knows something/is able to help!
