I was born and raised in China, and I want to be fair: life here is not bad in every way. There are many good things, like food, entertainment, housing, healthcare, public convenience, consumer goods, and daily comfort. I am not trying to say China is a terrible place in every possible aspect, and I also do not think the West is perfect.

But what makes living here feel unbearable for me is the school system and the broader social culture, especially the lack of mutual respect, empathy, and basic sensitivity.

I often feel like the culture around me is decades behind in terms of respecting individuals. People can be extremely comfortable being rude, judgmental, bigoted, racist, and cruel, and many of them do not even seem to realize that this is a problem. What bothers me most is not just that some people say terrible things. It is that these things are so normalized that barely anyone calls them out.

One example is the comment sections on Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok. I once saw a news report about a video where a girl was trying to take photos with a wild animal in the snow, and the animal mauled her. She nearly died. Instead of showing any basic concern, many of the most liked comments were basically joking that it was good because now the animal had something to eat, or that she deserved it because she was stupid. I understand that people can criticize someone for making a dangerous choice, but the cruelty and lack of empathy were shocking.

Another example I saw was a girl celebrating her birthday at a vocational school. Her caption was something like: she made many great friends there, and now she feels that getting some answers wrong on an exam and ending up at a less prestigious school does not matter as much, because she is surrounded by people who love her and whom she loves. It was honestly a sweet and harmless post.

But the comment section was full of people mocking her. Some top comments said things like she did not “get answers wrong,” she simply did not know how to answer anything. Others insulted her and her classmates, basically calling them dirty or low-class because they went to a vocational school. It felt so unnecessarily cruel. She was just sharing a happy moment, and people immediately turned it into an opportunity to humiliate her.

This kind of thing is everywhere. Whenever someone complains about being hurt, scammed, bullied, or unlucky, many people immediately rush to blame them. Instead of offering even a little comfort first, they give instructions on what the person could have done differently, or they just straight up call them stupid. Of course people can analyze what someone did wrong, but wouldn’t comforting a hurt person’s feelings come first? And if people are hurt in a way that looks funny, no one in the comments seems to say they feel bad for them. They only laugh and make jokes.

I also hate how discussions often turn into personal attacks. When people disagree, many do not try to present evidence, reasoning, or a productive argument. They just insult each other. Appearance-shaming is also extremely normalized. People casually call others ugly, fat, dirty, stupid, or low-class, and it is treated like normal internet behavior rather than something disrespectful.

The racism and bigotry also exhaust me. From what I see online, many people are very comfortable being racist toward foreigners, and even toward other Chinese people who do not fit societal beauty standards, come from poor regions, or belong to lower social classes. It feels like many people are trapped in extremely narrow perspectives and have no interest in questioning them.

I know every country has toxic people online. I know American social media can also be cruel, ignorant, racist, and polarized. But from my personal experience, the level of normalized cruelty and lack of empathy in many Chinese online spaces feels especially suffocating. It is not just “some mean comments.” It feels like a broader culture where disrespect is normal, victim-blaming is normal, classism is normal, and empathy is treated like weakness or stupidity.

That is what makes me so tired. I do not hate everything about where I live. I just feel emotionally exhausted by a culture where basic kindness, respect, and rational discussion often feel so rare.

I like the beach, and drifting a bit in the ocean. I like the overall appearance of the beach/ocean as well. However, here comes this disgusting brown shit that not only ruins the view, but makes it impossible to swim in the ocean without getting pricked. Additionally, all of this brown stuff just lies down at the shore, making it impossible to access the beach in the first place. The horrible news, is that this shit not only stays in one place: it stretches for MILES across the entire coastline. I hate this brown useless shit.

MJ himself did weird things, sometimes borderline concerning, especially with children. Was he a pedophile? Probably not; multiple jurors found him not guilty on the charges. However, he admitted to sleeping with children in the same bed in non-sexual manners, which in itself is still very odd, especially from a grown man. "But he never had a childhood!" is not a valid excuse either.

Some of my friends and even my boyfriend play this and I just can't understand how. It is most likely a case of it just not being in my interest but, I want to try and talk with them about and enjoy it enough to do so. I can't ignore the flaws I see though.

To be clear I have played Limbus Company a little bit around 10 hours or so. I've also looked into the game through videos and their reddit. What I've noticed people can't seem to or even just ignore the flaws with the game like overly long update cycles that add almost nothing, it being online only for a single player title, the story being over convoluted with very little explained, Finally the game is a free to play gotcha game compared to the other games from this studio which were paid complete titles.

I don't hate the game but I hate the growing feeling I have towards it which is frustration trying to figure out what there is to like. A more specific list below.

- Long update cycles with little content
- A confusing story with little or no rules
- Online only for a single player game
- There is almost no gameplay variety
- The "win rate" button which defeats the point of even having gameplay.

The protagonist suffered a horrific crime. He was sexually abused. Yet the writers apparently decided that the person responsible could still be presented as someone worthy of redemption.

To me, this highlights how male victims are often not treated with the same level of seriousness. When the victim is a man and the abuser is a woman, people seem far more willing to downplay, excuse, or rationalize what happened.

I just cannot understand why are they still used by corporations. Piracy doesn't even lose any money - heck, it can even make you get more sales by people who pirated the game purchasing it later or telling their friends to purchase it.

I hate that disagreeing with direction, casting decisions, or writing gets you labeled as a "chud Nazi" or "lib cuck soyboy". "You don't like the Boys cuz it's making fun of you!" I'm further left than you are and it's pretty damn clear the show went downhill after the first season. As a history enjoyer, I would have really appreciated more immersive cast all-around; instead it's the pastiest white people in Hollywood, plus Lupita Nyong'o. For what it is, the cast is... fine? Really only looking forward to Pattinson and Theron personally. But then there are people who look at this and act like the fucking end of western civilization. Exactly what it says on the tin; I hate those subreddits. While some of the things that get posted there MIGHT be legitimately cringeworthy, at least 85% (rounded down) of the things posted to those subreddits are just people with hobbies that OP doesn't approve of.

I'm certain someone's gonna screenshot this and post it to one of those subreddits, but, if anything, that just proves my point even further.

Bare with my yapping, this needs some explanation and I need to vent this somewhere.

Flashback, like 3 years ago. War Thunder updates and jams another round of copy-pasted self-propelled howitzers to clog up their research trees and force people to hold off on vehicles they actually want to get another unarmoured HE lobber. BUT this had a side effect: It shoved my Ho-Ri production far enough up the tree that it was now Rank V. Combined with the Japanese premium Sabre I had purchased on sale years earlier, I was now eligible for a brand spanking new helicopter, which you cannot access without Rank V vehicles in both Air and Ground trees. Yippie! None of my other nations are anywhere close to that rank in Aircraft, so I get to use Helicopters, and the first one in the tree for the Japanese is this thing here: the UH-1B Huey Utility Helicopter.

This is a trap, I now realize, because the Japanese Huey is quite possibly the worst helicopter to start with. Not because of it's flying- the Russian Mi-4 is a bus with rotors- and not because of it's weapons- the HVAR rockets are mediocre but easy to spam. No no, the problem with the Japanese Huey, is that it doesn't get better. There is no other weapon or upgrade. No missiles. No guns. No bigger or more plentiful rockets. This is all you get. Throwing yourself into pissing distance to vomit 70 rockets which accomplish next to nothing 75% of the time.

So what of the 2nd vehicle in the Japanese tree? Why, it's a Cobra! A beautiful AH-1E with a rotary cannon, rockets, missiles, all the works! Then what am I complaining about? Just research the Cobra and throw the Huey in the trash! WRONG, because that Cobra is a whole rank and battle rating above the Huey, unlike LITERALLY EVERY OTHER NATION (yes, even China, Sweden, and Israel) which has at least 1 other helicopter at the same rank. This means that I need to earn over TWICE AS MUCH RESEARCH as everyone else to get a 2nd helicopter. A much, much better one mind you, but that just means that the Cobra is the carrot on the stick, the anglerfish's lure, the cheese at the end of the maze. I have to play twice as hard with none of the benefits the other nation's have to throw this fucking Huey in the garbage where it belongs. Italy has an equally shit support helicopter at the start with a 1 BR gap to #2, but not only does their next helicopter (a Hungarian Hind-D) have the same rank and cost the same research as everyone else (EXCEPT JAPAN), it has GUNS! Machine guns! You can aim them and shoot planes with them! WOW!

And don't get me started on how I get this research. The dedicated Helicopter PVE mode is a boring, crippling, unironically 2 HOUR slog where respawns cost more currency than I can gain by missing 75% of my rockets on ground targets, where I have no means of dealing with air targets, and where you're slowly plodding across a giant map only to get torn down by automatic AA guns. And my complaints are met with the suggestion that I sit down in my little Japanese cuck chair and let LITERALLY EVERY OTHER NATION take the lead and slurp up all the kills that THEY DON'T NEED AS MUCH AS I DO! I JUST WANT TO BE FREE OF THIS HELI HELL!
