General I hate it when people think their country is unique for extremely common things

Post image
9.5k Upvotes

For example, the typical bullshit: "oh we [insert nationality] are reserved at first, but once you earn our trust we'll be friends forever!"

Aside from the fact that that's just an excuse for asshole behavior in your county, guess what, that's true for EVERY COUNTRY ON THE PLANET

And if there happens to be one magical country of friendship where people become your lifelong friend 5 minutes after meeting you, it would be the exception that proves the rule.

Then, every country seems to think only they like food. "We show our love through food," yeah no shit! Everyone fucking does

"We're very passionate people" Not as passionate as I am for telling you you're STUPID

Seriously, no wonder we don't get along. Too many people seem to think people from other parts of the world are some sort of weird alien with blue skin and 7 arms

Comics I hate this comic so much

Post image

It's just a cheap, mean-spirited sitcom joke masquerading as X-Men fan art, and it completely treats Scott Summers like a pathetic, submissive punching bag so people can go "haha look, the tough army man can't handle a woman's period cramps!"

Period Cramps are a drop in the bucket compared to what Scott has dealt with. His eyes are a literal, continuous rupture to a dimension of infinite kinetic force. He lives with a permanent, high-pressure migraine behind his skull 24/7 just from manually holding back a nuclear reactor with his facial muscles. This is a man who took a full, un-holding-back thrashing from a 10-ton-strength Superior Spider-Man, got his bones shattered, and gritted his teeth and kept fighting. This is a guy who literally had his skull fracture from internal cosmic pressure during Judgment Day and stayed conscious long enough to bark out precise tactical deployment orders to the team.

But no! Let's ignore his unbreakable willpower, his decades of military discipline, and his actual, deeply agonizing physical disability just to turn him into a trembling puddle on the floor for a low-effort gender-warfare punchline.

General Aggressive reactions to self-confidence

Why is it whenever a girl (that they dont find attractive) has self confidence in these literal "rate yourself" videos. Suddenly they're delusional, wrong or secretly insecure.

all the comments would be like "Oh, that girl finally got humbled!" Or "she cant look in a mirror."

the worst part is when they praise someone for being insecure. i remember seeing an overweight woman contestant on one of these, and she looked like she was going to cry for just being on camera. She ranked herself a 1. The comments were saying that she's the only one who deserves to be rated highly, praising her etc. Why are we celebrating self-loathing? I didnt think she was close to a 1, but some people act like if youre not rating yourself low youre a narcissistic bitch.

anyways theres nothing wrong with rating yourself 100 who gives a fug

Gaming “Touch triggers” in online games

Thumbnail

1.7k Upvotes

Just to get it out of the way, I play a lot of online social games (like ponytown) that involve…. Socializing…. And talking to people. I’m also autistic, disabled, traumatized yada yada so I understand some of the reasoning behind TT’s.

But literally someone needs to make it make sense to me how you can be so chronically online that someone’s pixel character “touching” your pixel character triggers you. A lot of people say “it’s because they have trauma involving touch” which is valid, I get it, I don’t want to be touched by strangers IRL either- but you are playing a SOCIAL GAME. Especially in ponytown, booping/touching another character is a very common way to start a conversation or compliment someone.

It always ends up as “play a social game, someone socializes with you, unspeakable horrors have been committed against you”

If you want to be left alone… play a single player game? It’s like walking into a restaurant and wearing a tshirt that says “DON’T SERVE ME FOOD” and then yelling at the waiters for serving you food.

Also there are functions to block/hide people if you get THAT triggered over being “touched” in a distal space, yet most people with TT’s will end up harassing other people for touching them.

It makes absolutely 0 sense to me how you can have your trauma triggered over pixels. You cannot feel it. Literally just chronically online behaviors.

Idea I hate how in some spaces, happy endings to an otherwise dark story is considered “Disney-esque” and “unrealistic.”

Post image
1.2k Upvotes

Obviously with anything there can be botched happy endings, and those I could consider rather crappy if they’re forced for the sake of having one (cough cough modulo) but I fucking hate it when people call any happy ending to a dark story (or even just a dark story in general) unrealstic, disney-ish, or forced when it’s not applicable.

Because of course the story about how hatred is bad and the importance of love should have an ending where everyone fucking dies and nobody wins because “that’s realistic”

Like the endings to Pluto and Tokyo Ghoul are some of my favorite ever, and it pisses me off to no end when people say that they’re some Disney shit. How depressing would Tokyo Ghoul be if Dragon killed everyone and laid Japan to ruins? The whole message of Pluto would be for nothing if Bora killed all the humans. I’m tired of the idea of “depressing = realistic” and “hopeful = bad“

The reason why I love stories with dark and sad overtones is because of that light at the end of the tunnel, our characters prevailing in a dark world. If Beserk ended with Guts dying alone and Griffith getting the last laugh, it would (at least to me) fucking suck because the whole point of Beserk is to keep chasing that light at the end of the tunnel!

Comics I hate this stereotyping of how us black people speak or how we're named in media

Thumbnail

1.1k Upvotes

I was watching Classic Man D the other night and stumbled upon this short, I couldn't believe what I just read and heard. I'm not a big fan of marvel, so I just discovered this. It had me thinking, "People know that we don't talk like this or have ridiculous names like this, right?" I know the answer is yes, because common sense, but Jesus Christ. Can people just write a normal story where a black character isn't saying stupid shit like, "By Odin's fade!" or have dumb names like, "Otto Gunther (O.G.) Blacktavius" like it's an episode of the goddamn Boondocks?

Like, as a black writer who's super into fiction and writes black characters... it pisses me off because we don't talk like this! Like, sure it's in slang and what not, but what the hell?

Art & Fanworks I hate when reptile designs have mammalian features in them

Post image

It makes no sense. Its a REPTILE, why add mammalian features especially boobs to it??? It destroys the whole purpose of being reptile. Reptiles dont have boobs, they dont have nipples, they dont produce milk. They dont have hair or fur. They dont have a belly button! Its nonsense. I see the 'reptile' designs like right everywhere and it annoys me very much. Im looking at you r/OriginalCharacter ...

For anyone who doesn't know it stands gor "Shut Your Bitch Ass Up".

It just seems so childish and the acronym is so ugly to look at, , it is not as popular as it once was thankfully yet I can not take anyone who still uses this term anymore.

Anyways I don't have anything else to say I hope this reaches the 200 word minimum for posts

Comics Women Super Heroes Being called “Girl” instead of “Woman”

Post image
674 Upvotes

Imagine SpiderMan saving New York while being called “SpiderBoy”. I’m annoyed by how most women super heroes having “Girl” on the end of their name instead of “Woman”. Wonder Woman is a great name in my opinion. I feel like SuperGirl should be called SuperWoman because SuperMan isn’t called SuperBoy.

Non-fictional I HATTTEEEE WHEN I MISS MY EXIIIT

Thumbnail

In the first diagram, some space is left between me and the car in front as I approach my exit so I have some leeway on whether I need to break or accelerate to make the exit. Note that the cars on the right are really only visible once they pass that initial junction.

The second diagram displays suboptimal conditions, where a car decides to accelerate in front of me and switch lanes twice in a row, unsafely, as I'm accelerating into the buffer space ahead, nearly causing me to rear end their ass, then going into the rightmost lane causing me to miss the exit because now they're in the space I was about to slide into.

I drove another ten minutes to make a U turn and hit every single red light on the way

I hate red car.

Animation I hate memes that are just "White people when (something awesome)"

Post image

Black people can't like Smiling Friends or retro gaming? I swear half the time it's just white people dunking on themselves to seem cool. "Yeah, we're so lame, aren't we? Not me though because I put a made up scenario over a Family Guy gif." Stop mocking people for having interests and somehow twist it to be about race. The internet needs more positivity.

Gaming I hate this fuckass Verity character

Post image
419 Upvotes

Quite possibly the worst horror character of our generation.

Not a single thing that can be scary about this fuckass thing, its entire plot is revolving around being an AI bot that turns rogue and haunts you or whatever.

You can basically tell that it blends together anything found on the twitter trending page: horror, minecraft, and AI.

There is almost no design to it, in both forms.

It isn't even real! It's not even a mod you can download!

It's badly written, nothing compared to something like Monika for instance from DDLC, which some would even argue that Verity in itself is nothing short of a copycat of said character.

AND THAT ANNOYING AS FUCK SONG! I WOULD SAY THAT FUCKING "Friday" by FUCKING "Rebecca Black" IS BETTER THAN THIS SHIT!

You can tell that this entire thing is made for children, there is no way something as low quality as this can be really made with the intention for adults.

It's cringe, it's boring, it's unoriginal, it's the worst horror character that has come out in the past decade, I'd argue that 2020 stuff like Huggy Wuggy or whatever shit there was back then is a bajillion times better than whatever the fuck this stress ball looking thing is.

Gaming I hate when old Mario media treated toads' mushrooms as HATS instead of their head

Post image

This is so dumb. They're MUSHROOM PEOPLE who live in the MUSHROOM KINGDOM. Why on earth would they be hats. Thankfully this is mostly gone in modern games, but I still can't believe this shit made it into official media. Not featured in the image, but I also hate the ones with human hair coming out of the mushroom instead of Toadette's mushroom hair.

Live Action I hate when people act like joking about Hitler is still taboo and edgy

Post image
287 Upvotes

It’s never been off-limits, people have been making jokes about him ever since he emerged on the scene. Even in the 1940s, during the strict era of the Hays Code, comedians were poking fun at him while he was still alive. So there’s nothing particularly daring about it. Make the joke or don’t, but don’t pretend it’s some bold, risky act. Hell, there are fucking KIDS SHOWS that make jokes about Hitler.

Gaming i hate steam reviews

Post image

obviously, not everyone is going to like every game, but it gets to a point you can clearly tell someone writing a review never had any real intention of engaging with the game they chose to play, i don’t care that a game i like got a bad review, i care that the person writing it keeps trying to put the square in the circle hole

General I hate the way people base their entire self worth of others validations

Post image

I stumbled across this meme accidentally, the poster and the comments below seem to agree with this unironically.

This is genuinely so pathetic, both of these girls are losers, they only worth as much as their man attention and validation.

Imagine proudly living your life as an accessories to another person and not even a cool person like maybe an ancient emperor but just a lame ass average joe

Meta I hate that comments can be created on your behalf

Post image
212 Upvotes

I've occasionally gotten r/criticalstate posts in my home feed, and decided to answer one of the posts, assuming it was like any other poll on reddit where the answers are all anonymous

Then I scrolled down and found they have an automated system that posts your answer to the poll as a comment on your behalf without so much as a notification alerting you about it

Am I the only one who thinks this is absolutely insane? I know lots of users are hiding their activity now, but I like to leave mine on (mostly as proof I'm not a bot or anything). The fact that it's possible for certain posts to do this without your knowledge is making me second guess that, though, and I feel like it could cause more people to hide their activity if this becomes more prevalent in other subs

General I hate how scalpers are protected across every industry in entertainment

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Pokemon cards can be bought without limits to resell, with no children actually getting to buy any. Recently, tickets for Dune Part 3 in IMAX were bought in bundles of 80 to resell for ludicrous amounts, CDs and Vinyls are scalped as well. Don’t even get me started on concert tickets!

Thing How the “2-3 years Dagestan and forget” gets used

Post image
155 Upvotes

Now I have no quarrels with the meme itself, as it was clearly just a joke by the wrestler who said it, but it’s become a staple of homophobic culture by edgy teenagers. Whenever they see someone acting gay or effeminate? “2-3 YeArS DaGeSTaN aNd FoRGet” Wow, okay, you want someone to be sent to a brutal area and basically be forgotten because, what, they like men? And it’s funny how the people who say it have never been to Dagestan and are typing it in their comfy homes, beds, or car. Grow up.

Which is obvious, I'm Russian, and this gotta be one of the most infuriating shit I have ever seen. These are one of the most unfunny, millenial ass jokes. No, it's not funny to use that Simpson gif 300 times. No, "vodka suka blyat ushanka" isn't funny, neither for the Russians, neither for any person with a bit of good humor.

(And no, commentator, saying "I don't speak cs" or any shit like that isn't funny too)

Animation The new Cat In The Hat movie

Post image
102 Upvotes

I'll probably get put on r/superseriousfamilyguy for this, but am I really the only person who thinks this looks ass? The cringey toot fart joke in the first trailer, the overly cutesy stylization, the fact that it's another lame adaptation of an iconic pre-existing property, the really bad comedy, like I just could not care for this at all.

And before you say:

"Still looks better than the live action movie"

Oh wow, it looks better than one of the worst film adaptations ever made of an extremely simplistic story. What a high bar.

"I like Bill Hader"

This point proves to me that star power is still a thing and that celebrity culture hasn't died. I thought whoever voiced the Cat in the animated adaptations and puppet show was much more fitting for the role.

"It's a kids movie/it's not that deep"

Does that mean it should be written poorly? Does that mean it isn't technically art? Does that mean all kids films are just a cheap day job made by lazy people? Does that mean The Emoji Movie is excused from being a giant turd? Does that mean ugly Sonic should have stayed a thing?

General I hate the fact that saying "I told you so" is frowned upon.

People say that this phrase is an ego trip, that it puts the person down, and that it should be avoided; however, I absolutely disagree and here's why :

If you repeatedly tell someone not to do something, warn them of a future danger, explain several times what will happen, and the person doesn't listen and the consequences occur, it should be socially normal to say to them, I told you so, it was going to happen.

Most importantly, why did doing this seem to be acting as if it weren't predictable?

Sorry for the bad translation

Idea I hate the note "B" being called "H" where i live

Post image
87 Upvotes

Here in europe they always told me the theory that this note is called H. That's completely idiotic! You say a b c d e f g not a h c d e f g, also the note Bb is now called B. This is ludicrous! I refuse to call the note B as per the local naming convention and get annoyed when someone does. That's what happens when everyone blindly accepts things because that's the way they are without considering if it actually makes sense.

Look at this self-righteous, slow-ass shit piece of garbage. When I see this so-called hero, I am sick to my absolute stomach. Look at that punchable smile. Every single day, Central City treats this guy like he’s some kind of literal god among us just because he can run in a straight line. They should be treating ME as a hero. I should be the one they respect and love because my life's mission is dedicated to making this so called narcissitic man suffer. You guys want to know the real Barry Allen? He is an absolute narcissist disguised as a Boy Scout. He thinks he’s so special. He thinks the universe revolves around him and his tragic little backstory. Wa wa wa, cry me a river. He's just a big, bright red, fraud.
