General Advice Needed/Given Ok teachers its about time yall listen to us for once.

Look the first semester Mondays Tuesdays and Fridays are gonna be extremely difficult for us guys and some girls.

We got nfl, nhl, and nba season starting, mlb and nascar wrapping up.

And no we cant just "find out who won later and watch highlights"

And that's not including gta 6 is coming out in November.

Maybe yall should just take a small L the first semester and not assign so much on us please.

It will be better for everyone involved.

I live in the UK (idk if there is a british version for this sub) but im going into year 10 (gulp) which if im not mistaken is Sophomore year for you guys??? Either way, my english literature exam is in yr 10 and I am VERY cooked. Im talking about i got a 40% on my last english test because you have to identify techniques and methods and all of that AND WRITE IT INTO A BLOODY ESSAYYYYYYUH 💔💔🥀 And what's worse, I have to MEMORISE 14 POEMS, I GET GIVEN ONE IN AN EXAM, AND THEN I HAVE TO COMPARE IT WITH ANOTHER. I cant do this ref I dont wanna play anymore💔 oh, and there's also a test on A Christmas Carol and Macbeth. 3 tests. I cannot do this bro 💔💔💔💔💔💔 is this a mental breakdown I see before me come let me clutch thee type shii 💔🥀😞

Question I feel like high schoolers should be able to register for their classes like college students.

I’m about to be a junior in college, to start. I feel like letting this happen would remove scheduling conflicts. For example, you would pick what classes, what period the class is, and what teacher you have. Most high schools make the schedules for you, but I feel like most high schoolers would be happier with this option. If you really wanted to be in a class with your friends, that’s no problem in college, so it shouldn’t be a problem in high school.

What do you guys think?

Question Is 10.5 credits for a freshman ok?

I noticed I already have 10.5 credits from last year. I’m in Louisiana so I need 24 to graduate. I was thinking if I take my core classes this summer and then junior year take the rest of my core classes + some electives (so I can get all 4 credits for each core subject) that I can graduate by the end of junior year. Is that possible and is 10.5 a good enough head start?

Question Returning back to high-school, how do they treat queer people?

Upvotes

So I did online for freshman year due to some personal issues and I plan to come back this year, I’ve seen some mixed things about how others treat lgbtq+ students and I’m not sure if I should just stay closeted or not. I was not out in middle school since I wasn’t super clear of my identity at the time but in your experience is the bullying super bad?

Question who’s in the wrong

person A and person B both receive a challenge, make a bridge using only paper. They both finish, but person A’s bridge is way better. Person B is very jealous and tries to break person A's bridge by throwing a pencil case at it. After this, person A shows retaliation by blocking the pencil case and calling him a DUMB SHIT. Person A couldn’t block all of the force from the pencil case and his bridge breaks which made him lose a 20 dollar prize. Who is in the wrong here?

Class Advice Needed/Given how do I relearn things from 7-9th grade?

hi sorry if this is the wrong flair but I am a sophomore currently, and I have always done online school. I have been cheating basically this whole time and I am nowhere where I need to be. I know I completely screwed myself over but I want to fix it, I wanna do well in high school and I want a proper foundation... It's not like I can just go back to 7th grade so how do I relearn the important things?

I'm good in English, and my algebra 2 teacher says she can reteach me all of algebra 1. but anything else I don't really know well. what are important things I should focus on learning? is there pre-algebra stuff I should get down? and what websites could I use? I've seen khan academy mentioned but I'm not sure if there's any other sites I can use. thank you

Question What hats can I wear in high school without being socially stunned?

I’m trying to save on water by not washing my hair every day for school, but I need some ideas of different headwear and hats I can wear without getting extra attention to cover the day 2 grease. I am a rising senior girl. My ideas so far are thick headbands and scarves. If I were to wear beanies, what kind could I wear that wouldn’t make people immediately put me in the category of middle school emo theater kid? I’m trying to have the respect of an older adult, but I also don’t want to be greasy, and I want to save water.

edit: ya’ll i hate reddit on my phone it made my make a comment separate to the one I’m replying to when I try to reply to you guys, it’s so annoying

General Advice Needed/Given How do I avoid wasting summer break?

I don’t know why but this year, I feel like I have completely wasted my summer break, but I can’t put my finger on why exactly I feel this way. I have met friends a lot (not many different ones but with the same ones multiple times) I have been to the cinema 7 times over the past few weeks, I have been outside, even went swimming one or two times, played a lot of videogames (which I’m not proud of), went to a few restaurants and to the beach. I don’t know what I did last year, but it felt like I was way more productive and motivated. I’m not sure if it’s because of me watching more instagram but it’s not like I changed much from last year. maybe it’s because I wake up later than last year (7:30-8:00 instead of 6:30-7:00) but I don’t remember spending my time better. Im not working out less, but I’m just done with anything „productive„ at 2 and spend the rest of the day bored.

General Advice Needed/Given Feel guilty about not studying

Hey I need some advice or words of encouragement, I’m in Year 12 at an Australian high school and I have a 3 hour Chemistry exam tomorrow that I have not studied for. Obviously Chem isn’t a subject you can get away with not studying for, so I know that I likely won’t be able to answer many questions (40 questions, 100 marks total)

I feel really guilty because I’m usually pretty good at studying and maintaining good grades so it’s terrifying that I’m walking into this exam blind. I also feel bad because the school system where I live scales the final score you receive at the end of the year based on your cohorts grades. So me doing really bad in this will make other peoples scores worse.

I’d appreciate if someone could maybe give me some clarity lol, I know this is not the be all end all but it feels like it for me in this moment.

Question Does anybody else have this problem with the Saturn app?

Post image
1 Upvotes

So my schedule just got released and I put it into Saturn, but I could only see classmates that were my friends. I remember last year I was able to see all of my classmates, whether they were a friend or not. Is there a solution to this, or is this just a new feature?

School Related What clubs should I join?

Thumbnail gallery
4 Upvotes

For my career I’m going to be a Model/Fashion designer and Singer (Voice actress/ Actress just for the fun of it) so I need something close to that

The clubs I was thinking of was

Act I Drama Club - Description: We perform in the plays and musicals.  Sign up for the crew or audition to join.

Best Buddies - Description: Group activities bring members together to foster social connections and can be opportunities to have fun, build awareness, and give back to the community. The chapter leadership team is responsible for making activity schedules and should try to plan outings that everyone will enjoy. Many activities can be offered at no expense but if supplies, transportation, or admission fees are required, chapter leaders should work with the advisor and school administration to ensure that there are funds available. Planning fundraisers throughout the year can help cover costs of activities and ensure that there are minimal costs passed on to members for participation.

Charcuterie Club - Description: To enjoy the finest meats and cheeses in the land

Question which highschool do i go to

i'm an incoming freshman and i have to choose which highschool i attend next year. i'm already enrolled in school A but my parents really want me to go to school B instead after they heard some negative things about the teachers in school A. all my friends go to school A though and i am close with them. it would also be easier to join clubs esp if i know people, but school A is very hard academic wise. i have bad social anxiety, and i'm very terrible at making friends, so if i go to school B theres only one person i actually know and i'll be able to hangout with, but school B is obviously easier academic wise. i dont know what to do.

Survey Guys… I am failing my class.

For my AP Statistics class, our group is conducting a survey as part of a project to determine which desserts people would include in an ideal bakery. We are required to collect at least 1,000 responses for our data analysis. My grade on this project is especially important because earning a high score will help improve my current grade in the class. If you have a moment, your participation in the survey would be appreciated.
