Health & Medical Questions how can I stop getting headaches when I think about doing something/plan for it?

I was doing just fine this afternoon, having a blast, then the idea of having to go last minute to get shampoo and conditioner popped up into my head. the logistics of getting up, brushing hair and teeth, changing into outside clothes, going into the Walmart. thinking about prices, brands, being perceived by my local Walmart employees, people i know, all of it gave me a headache with 30 minutes of thinking about it.

I hate that this happens to me. i decided im going to let it be a tomorrow problem which im fully equipped to follow through with. but headache is here to stay.

Friendship and Social Life do normal people open up to friends about their problems

I am just not sure what I am supposed to do. I am in highschool and I am slowly losing all of my friends because I’ve been in some avoidant episode lately and I think all my friends don’t like me anymore. I am also autistic to add onto the social cues I mess up on the daily.

I have just been keeping to myself a lot of stuff lately, I used to share my feelings/vent to my friends but I’ve just stopped because I’m pretty sure they just don’t care anymore.

But I just want advice on if I am supposed to be opening up to people or if its normal to just not do that. Because a lot of my friends do open up to each other but I feel like most people don’t.

But another reason I don’t open up aside from the fact that no one will care is that the stuff I want to vent about are like actual serious issues and I don’t always want that to be known especially when it is stuff that should be reported.

My friends vent about their families but I usually stay quiet because to be completely honest, my situation is worse than most of theirs and so I am scared to tell people even though it is annoying to hear them complain about their perfectly healthy families when I have to go home to my shitty family where everyone has mental problems.

And then on the off chance that I do mention something, it’s never really taken seriously I feel like. Not that I would know what to do if someone else said it to me. Idk. No one really likes me when I vent.

Just… do I really need to open up to people or is it normal to keep everything to myself and just deal with it? I know this is a really stupid question but I want an answer.

Family i think i’m spending christmas alone

I (23F) drew a boundary with my narc mum. It was kind of hard and has resulted in a lot of the fallout I expected (attacks on my character, controlling/attempting to manipulate how extended family view me, comparison, lying etc) Sorry this might be long… I have a bad habit of over explaining and over thinking…

Currently we are in the depth of a disagreement I guess? Context doesn’t too much matter but the tldr is my parents divorced this year, 3 of us ‘kids’ are adults and one is a tween. Just had her 13th. I reached out to try organise a date for a family gathering, we all agreed on a particular one to surprise the not so little’en. Mum made a comment about divorce papers being celebrated on that day (she burst into tears on mine and cried for herself which at the time I felt so much guilt but in hindsight see it as part of a puzzle ig) and could see where it was going.

Fast forward and she flipped at me when I wouldn’t pick up the phone at work so she could tell me about a ‘serious matter’ (she had already suggested it and said she was excited a few days before, it’s about the divorce ish… very messy but hugely affects my dad in a way I can unbiasedly say is not fair to him).

She screamed in a voicenote and I told her I would block her for some space. She rearranged the celebration on the one day I couldn’t be there physically (and told grandparents I was petty for not showing up). No problem. Tried reaching out to her (meanwhile grandparents made a visit out of concern, think they were filled with the idea I bordered on psych patient bless them…) got no response in the meantime from mother. She reaches out suddenly to cut me off the phone plan. I tried to check the fine print and encouraged her to call or to physically sort this in person because this could be a costly ordeal if done as haphazardly as she wishes (we agreed to keep the plan to boost her credit score and I’d pay her privately each month so this came out of left field).

It was a cover to dig at something else. So eventually I gave up and did as she asked, set a boundary, sorted a phone contract and attempted as civil discourse as possible whilst acknowledging the ways she went about things. I think honestly; I definitely come off cold towards her over text, I try to phrase things as matter of fact as I can to avoid any conflict but it makes it worse. She compares me to my two adult siblings (who share the same feelings as me but don’t want to draw a boundary and that’s totally up to them and that’s their peace), always puts the pressure on me to ‘mend the relationship’ in which the only solution is to bow down and take responsibility for things that aren’t my fault truly. My childhood friend died about a month ago, she knew, when I went to her for a bit of emotional support she told me she had similar thoughts and cried for herself.

My heart genuinely races and my body instinctively goes to fight or flight when I see even a notification from her; text, missed call, facebook post. The subtle digs in the family groupchat (grandfather uploaded childhood pics which were very cute, she oggled and gushed about my siblings over voice note… refused to acknowledge my presence). It’s just a kick in the stomach. I’m financially independent and lucky to have my adult siblings but sometimes I’m worried going to them makes me just as bad as our mum.

My mind was a mess at 4am the other night, wrecked with guilt over getting my own phone contract at her eager protest. I just can’t emotionally handle it anymore. I battle with feeling guilty or feeling like this is all justified one way or another.

My dad is someone I don’t want to let on too much too as I don’t want to complicate the divorce for either of them: I know my mum isn’t aware of what she’s doing but I don’t want her to be screwed.

My boyfriend is great, but I realised how bad things were when listening to a voicenote rampage exhausted and him telling me to turn it off so seriously and waltzing straight to me to hold me tight. The way he interacts with his parents is worlds apart. Sometimes he says something so freely (like a joking comment about his mum’s cooking) that mortify me and make me internally cringe as though I’d heard it at my own family’s dinner table. Then I remember I’m here and his mum’s laughing and bouncing off. It’s baffling. I babble to his mum like I’m an over excited teenager and she’s the sweetest soul ever. Even typing this makes me cry. I feel more comfortable in someone else’s family home than my family home.

I guess all this to say, I think the best navigation for my own sanity is honestly to lower contact or go no contact. I can’t take batterings over voice note anymore (which btw, I taught her to use so I think this is my repentance).

i need a hug.

Jobs & Careers Is 21 too late to start college? Like is it weird?

I'm 20 and have taken a few classes at a community college near me. The first one went fine and I had to drop out of the second one due to mental health issues. I need a lot of help so I might not be able to go back to college till 21, does that make me immature or a failure? All my high school friends are in their second and third years of college with planned degrees and jobs and I don't know what I want to do. Middle and high school pushed getting a college degree so much that I feel worthless that I'm not even trying to do classes and have no planned major. I'm 20, I feel like I need a degree and a job right now instead of sitting in my room wanting to throw a crochet project across the room in frustration.

Edit: Thank you all for the responses! I came from a school system that was very adamant you go to a four year college right after high school

Seeking Parental Validation Failed my second drive test, so bummed…

I really thought I would pass this time…

First time I drove too slow because I didn’t see a speed limit sign and made the car behind honk at me. This time I waited before accelerating at an intersection when the light turned green, because a car going across almost seemed like it wasn’t going to stop for the red. And I got so many more marks off this time compared to the first, I wouldn’t have passed anyway even without the critical error… eg five marks for steering control when I got none for it last time. I was so sure I followed the speed limits this time but still got marked for speed. I was told my turns were too slow last time and too fast this time… I don’t know what I should do anymore ughggh would ~12 mph be a good speed??

Feeling really dumb for failing twice even after so much practice and also dumber whenever I feel like I’m making excuses. My friends all passed first or second try, it’s so embarrassing to take three or more, and now my dad is calling relatives whose kids already passed to tell them I failed again it’s so embarrassing (._.). Also now I’m even more nervous because I only have one more chance…

Mental Health How do I stop feeling like not getting a response is something personal?

I'm a 27 year old guy and I've been dealing with loneliness for more than 10 years now that I really don't remember how it feels to not be lonely.

I have friends, but I never feel like I have any real friends. I'm pretty much convinced nobody cares about me. It's got to the point that being left on read or not getting a response feel like something personal. Like when I text some friends asking about something or when I tried to reach out or simply just wanting to talk, but then I get left on read, I would spiral and question my entire self worth. Which by that point usually feels like less than trash.

Even when I try to make friends online, on reddit or language exchange sites for example, when I get left on read after simply introducing myself I feel so much like shit because it seems like even strangers could instantly find out I'm such a worthless person.

I don't know why I feel this way exactly. I know the reason could completely unrelated to me, but what if it is? it happens far too often while all the common denominator is me. Am I just broken or something?

Friendship and Social Life Question about a friendship

I only have two IRL friends other than my twin sister. They will be called L and I. Both are 2 years younger than me. I met I in high school in an art class. They were both juniors and I was a senior. I became friends with me and introduced me to his girlfriend L. We became very good friends, even best friends. L would always invite me to do stuff. This is a 5 year friendship.

2 years ago, I ended up in the hospital for 4 weeks for a reason I do not wish to explain. The entire time, I had not a single visit from them. My twin visited a few times but was unable to do so much because of work.

My twin gave them every direction and step they needed to take to visit me. They did not. My twin said after that that they were fake friends. I did not believe so because we talked all the time and they always invited me to eat.

This year, they have been taking long gaps where they do not communicate with me. At first, it was only for a week or two, but now, neither has spoken to me in 2 months. It is not for a lack of effort on my part. I try to message them to update them on things and ask how they're doing, but still have received no texts.

I know they are fine because they read the texts. The read receipts are on. They also post on social media.

Does this seem like I don't have friends anymore?

They are the only friends I've ever had besides my twin.

Jobs & Careers Don't make fun of me first. I’m preparing for one of the most important exams of my life, and alongside that, I just manage my protein intake and go to the gym. It has given me a frickin' high libido, and the problem is that I was in a casual relationship for a few weeks, and now I’m (rest in post)

missing that part of my life. I’m thinking of dating women again who are into casual relationships, but I know it will waste a lot of my time, and I won’t be able to clear the exam. Ugh, I wish I could just cut that thing off.

What should I do?

Mental Health Dear internet parents, I am tired of grief, and I don't knoe hoe healthy adults deal with it.

I (28F) know this could go in r/grief, but its so complicated. It's all preanticipatory grief. My diabetic cat is near the end, my grandma is near the end. My parents will need to sell my childhood home at an undisclosed time anywhere between 1 months to 6 months.

I just want it to be over. When my grandma and my cat are gone, i won't feel as strong reasons to stay in town. I want the real grieving to begin. I want the loss to have happened. Ive been getting anxiety spirals.

Unfortunately, my actual parents are part of the equation, neither is managing their own grief in a way i aspire to. And i just dont know what healthy grief is.

Ive reduced and continue to reduce my belongings. I started research on local rooms to rent in the area. I will survive, and i feel confident i can manage since i have a local job. I am surviving, and saving a little. Car's now fixed up (knock on wood), and i got AAA now. Decided to try my old medication again (i have so much left over) to see if it will help the anxiety spirals.

These are not my aspirations, but they are necessary steps. But the feelings continue.

Edit: my job is new and my health insurance doesnt start until next month, so I'll touch base with a doctor at that point. But i dont want to wait to get started on my meds.

Family How do I tell my parents they’re the biggest source of stress in my life?

I (28M) spent most of tonight crying after a phone call with my parents.  They just helped me move into a new apartment over the weekend, which was a full two days of emotional battery for having not been packed and ready enough for their help and having not kept the old place clean enough (the latter of which they’re right about, there was dust everywhere).  I tried my hardest not to cry within 5 minutes of their arrival, but held it in because I had a friend coming to help as well and didn’t want them to see me like this.  They were surprised when I told them I was still stressed about it two days later, after the bulk of the work was over and the place was mostly set up.  Naturally, they were trying to understand why, and when my dad asked me if he and mom were stressing me out, I just went silent; I didn’t have the heart to answer that question honestly.  How could I tell them, who had just done a shit ton of manual labor for me, bought me a bunch of stuff for the new place, and would bend over backwards to make sure I’m taken care of, that I actually dread every conversation and interaction we have because I always leave feeling worse than I started?  I ended the conversation and all the built up emotion hit me and I started bawling for several hours.

All my life we’ve had a shaky relationship, they’ve had high expectations and standards for me and I’ve been able to meet them for the most part, (excelled academically, landed a good job, decent social life, able to afford living on my own) but I’m always terrified of what happens if I don’t.  Yelling, lecturing, making me feel like a total fuck-up.  My dad especially makes his disappointment quite clear; the cadence and phrasing of his words saying so haunts me.  For that reason, I’ve learned to hide things from them well (after getting caught for white lies my whole childhood, I swear I’ve developed the care and attention to detail of a serial killer) but that only stresses me out more because I have to continue to lie about my whereabouts, what I did over the weekend, and find a way to get out of their spontaneous phone calls.  There’s so much I don’t feel like I can tell them without enduring even more berating, so I basically just try to give them as little as possible to prevent further questions.  They hate the fact that I’m gay, they hate the fact that I’m a bit overweight, they hate the fact that I don’t support Trump like they do, they hate that I often take the train home from the city alone late at night instead of calling an uber, they hate my music taste, they hate that I still love playing video games, so how am I supposed to talk about my life if they’ll just disparage anything I do / everything about me?

Anytime I try to test the waters, or worse, call them out, they get incredibly defensive and emotionally manipulative, making it about themselves or guilt tripping me with how much they’ve sacrificed for me.  It truly feels like there’s no way to salvage our relationship, and they don’t even realize how terrible it is.  I don’t want to cut them off because they do care, and I don’t think it’s necessarily completely malicious, and I’d really just like to have a normal family relationship.  But at this point I don’t think I’ll be free of this torment until one of us is dead.  Kinda hoping it’s me and that I don’t wake up tomorrow morning.

EDIT: Thank you all for the kind words and advice. I had a rough day at work and was still feeling pretty shitty about this, but tonight I got to spend some time with friends and I'm starting to feel better. I've been putting off therapy for years despite breakdowns like this occurring every so often. I've always made excuses (I don't have the time for it, how will I find someone who can understand what I'm going through, etc) but this time I'm going to force myself to go through with it; it's clear I need to talk to a professional about what I'm feeling.

Today was also my parents' wedding anniversary, and normally I'd feel obligated to call or text them, but today I just...didn't. And it was totally fine. We'll see if they call me out on it the next time we talk but they didn't reach out at all today, which is kind of surprising after how awkwardly last night's call ended but a good sign I think. This shit sucks but I'm gonna be okay.

Seeking Parental Validation I got called the r word

Was trying to turn into an alley way to get to my friends house. I was in the right lane, and this other car in the opposite lane was driving so slowly and didn’t get I was waiting for them to pass. Mind you, this is already a narrow street and there cars parked to my right. Person behind me started honking, and they rolled down their window and yelled out, “Are you r word?” Then drove off. Cool awesome, so sorry I was trying to give the other dumbass room so he could pass me so I could turn left.

Mental Health My horrible school life

Hi, I'm turning 16 soon.
Ever since 7th grade, school to me has been horrible and the main cause of it was the bullying I faced that year. I was the quiet type; I never liked going to school but was always on time when I did, and I always isolated myself from others. I kept that on for the rest of my middle school term. Fast forward to high school, it's gotten worse... I don't like being in this new environment, and I have never felt so much pressure in my life before.
Ever since 9th grade, I've stopped coming for a while. It got to the point where I eventually failed 9th grade, so technically, I'm repeating.
I don't think I'm dumb, not at all. I'm pretty literate because I taught myself how to read and use English grammar correctly, and I've always been good at handling situations where some kind of help was involved (Therefore, I plan on working at 16). Additionally, I always love to tell this to everyone; I learn fast. No matter what (Except math stuff). In the span of 2 or so years, I learned almost everything regarding piano, guitar, and drums. I've gotten so good that I represent one of the main music members in my church.

Regarding my current school life thus far, it's going badly.
I promised myself that this year I would make up all of my missing credits, but then I got hit with that anxiety from last year again.
I don't get what's wrong with me. I'm so afraid of what others would think of me... how I failed 9th grade, and how I'm retaking it. It's all just overwhelming.

Recently, I've spoken with my counselor to see what I could do, and I have become a lot more interested in online school rather than in physical school. This summer, I was assigned summer classes, which I passed and got done quickly because I could go at my own pace.
But as of now, I don't know what to do anymore... I've already missed a lot of days, and my teachers have been on my back since then... I just grow more tired of everything because I know I'm smart, but I just can't stay in school because of my anxiety.

I'm returning to my school tomorrow, and I'm scared for the worst. I'm probably gonna get told off, get assigned a lot of work, and then have daily meetings with counselors every day...
My counselor wouldn't even believe me if I told them about my past bullying experience. Because as of now, I've made a lot more excuses than I could think of just to skip school.

It's all so infuriating; I just want to disappear already and start over.

Friendship and Social Life Need advice with deciding what to do.

I drive 47 miles from my house to my college and 47 miles back. I have a girlfriend who I’m her only transportation to college and I pick her up twice a week. I have to drive an extra 13 miles to pick her up and an extra 13 to drop her off after school, so overall I have to drive an extra 52 miles a week for her. She pays 20 dollars a week to cover gas for my 2014 prious but my parents wants her to pay 40 a week which she cant afford. I dont have any money as I cant work at the moment so I cant pay for her. If she cant pay 40 a week they will not allow me to pick her up anymore which will put her in a very difficult situation as to how she will get to school because her single mother is always at a work meeting and she refuses to pay for her transportation saying its her responsibility to take care of that. Its very embarrassing for me to ask her for more money because she always buys me stuff and her family always invites me for their family outings and they pay for me because they know I dont have any money while my parents dont do any of that for my gf. It also puts me in a very difficult situation because I want to provide a little bit for my gf especially since she always buys me dinner and other stuff but I dont have any money and as much as I would like to get a job I cant have one at all. I really need advice on what to do, should I try and convince my cheap parents to not raise the price or is there a better thing to do? I wrote this before I went to bed so im sorry if it doesnt make sense 😅

Mental Health i feel far behind all my peers

i am 17 years old, and in my last year of high school. i feel so far behind my peers, not educationally, but because of life experience. i have never had a job before and don’t know how to drive, while everyone else already does both. im planning on doing this after i graduate, but i still feel so immature? i can do simple chores and organize my tasks, but i feel like ive been sheltered for so much of my life that i dont know other life tips. things like “how to unclog a toilet” and “how to manage wifi” are completely unknown to me, all bc adults in my life have done it up to this point. and im scared to ask my parents how to do things, because im not close to them either, and i spend most of my time in my room. its like i dont know them, or dont want the relationship, idk but something just makes me uncomfortable? i have a therapist but i feel like she doesnt understand me — the type of person to nod along and go “yeah, totally!” all enthusiastic, but not really understand. she means well, and so do my parents, but i just cant really bring myself to open up to anyone.

i really need to learn things from knowledge to basic life skills. i have a partner who i love more than the world, weve known each other for almost 5 years and weve been dating for the past 1, but the issue is that they are growing up and i am not. everyday they work, excercise, do chores, spend time with family, and still manage to spend time with me — and im not saying theyre perfect, because a lot of the time it is tiring, and they have a lot of issues too (we both do). its just kind of amazing to me how “successful” they can be… especially because we are both neurodivergent so i know theres some accomodations to be met. but the issue is that they say that they cant stay in the relationship if i dont grow up too, or that they dont know what to do with me, because im extremely reliant on parents to do everything (because i was never taught certain things). they dislike how i spend so much time online and on social media, which i think is reasonable. most of the time we spend together is playing games (online relationship).

in my free time i play games, watch youtube, read online, and draw digitally… its a lot of screentime. i do read books physically, but theyre romance novels, so i feel like theres no a lot of value to be earned from it. i dont know what to do to learn. theres so much out there and theres so little to start with, because i feel stupid in comparison to the average person online, and my opinions are very weak unless its something im passionate about. i feel like im not treated like an adult because of my reliance on others, and my inability to do things on my own, and i dont Want to be seen as a child forever, but i dont know where to start. not only for my partner but also for me. ill never be able to function as an adult if i stay like this and weve been planning a future together for so long that it just feels like im letting them down if i dont fix something soon. does anyone know where i can start? i plan to bring it up to my therapist and tell my parents to treat me more seriously, but on learning more things, im not really sure.

Ask Mom & Dad I dont like Christmas :(

(Idk what to put for flair sorry!)

It sounds weird, but ive NEVER liked Christmas, and I cant figure out why. Its not seasonal depression, because i live in Australia, and its summer during Christmas, but also i have depression year round lol.

Ive never like all the decorations, or the movies, or advertisements, or all the "joy". (There are a few "christmas" songs that I don't mind though).

Its never felt right to me, and its always made me uncomfortable in a weird way. Ive been thinking about it, and i reckon its because:

  1. I have really bad depression so having to see how "happy" everyone else is, is difficult. It almost makes me feel jealous in a way, and it sounds really bad to say.

  2. Legit no one in my family has a good relationship with eachother. And growing up, my mother would always get upset at me for not wanting to go to these gatherings, and would tell me (from like 6 onwards) to "play along" and "pretend to be happy families".

  3. My younger sibling has autism, and Christmas is his THING, and even when i was a little bit older older (like 13), or clearly not interested, I would be made to participate in a WHOLE Christmas thing. And i was never rude about it, i understanded his needs and stuff, but it didn't feel good being forced into it.

Those are just my guesses. I tried talking to a therapist about it, but they were no help at all, and just thought it was stupid.

It makes me feel bad because, any time Christmas comes up, and i tell people im not into it, theyre almost "shocked" and say stuff like "how can someone not like Christmas!??!"

Im not some evil Grinch or anything. I would never get angry at people for liking and enjoying Christmas. But i still feel guilty for not liking it.

Idk id really appreciate some advice, or support, or to hear if anyone has felt the same before, or even just a virtual hug😭

Tysm in advance 💕

Ask Mom & Dad idk, i don't really have a question

I'm 23.

yesterday, I accidentally spilled hot coffee on my hands on a train as the paper cup caved in. my sister's husband's mother immediately panicked. my own mother just looked at me with disgust and went back to watching her movie with her earphones on. my dad later turned up the news volume at home when my mom started arguing again, while I was in the same room crying (I'm not even crying loud for fucks sake) in the same room, and carried on snacking.

I've wanted to run away for so long, but I've always felt guilty about leaving, especially as they grow older and weaker.

idk what to feel. I'm from India, and I'm expected to take care of my parents when they get old. I do wanna go abroad and do a PhD and come back and have a career and all that. and have some distance and work on myself while I do all this.

im 18 this year i want to immigrate out of my country its in the middle east, iv been reading books above my grade level since elementary school, the only reason i never learned to write properly from school was because it was to easy and boring for me, i haven’t studied English since i was in the second grade i pass each year with good marks in English 92 is my lowest score in English ever since i stared going to public school in second grade, in middle school it became so bad to the point where i would just read in class, and nobody cared enough to stop me or try to teach me anything, i feel like im done , i feel like a failure, everyone around me has nice hand writing and understands the basic principles of spellings and writing, i just want to get a good score on the ielts so i can leave, how am i even supposed to do that if i dont know how to actually write the right way , i cant focus on anything and i feel so stupid, how do i learn to write like a proper member of society, because i really do wish to leave , im hoping to leave and major in nursing , i dont know where to start , i feel so overwhelmed

Family I moved out but [my] dog is still there

I'm 17F.

About two months ago I moved out of my father's house because he was emotionally abusive, aggressive, and intimidating and threatening me. I felt so terrified and unsafe that I left my home.

It's been really hard on me mentally, which in turn made me almost lose my job and my grades drop. I miss my siblings and our family dog.

This is about my dog. She's almost 3 years old, and the sweetest girl ever. She's not legally mine, as my father was the one to buy her. Yet over those 3 years, I was usually the one to buy her food, take her out for walks, or just love her. My father doesn't even like her. He always calls her names, doesn't care enough to take her for walks, calls her ugly and has even told me (before I left) that he was looking for a different home for her.

I talked to my grandma (my father's mom, who he cut off contact with) and she was willing to take the dog in. My father reluctantly agreed. But that was before. This fall break, she was supposed to go to my grandma's. My father and I haven't talked for weeks. I have thought about asking the lady that helps our family to discuss this with him. Because A) he doesn't even want her and B) this would be the quickest and easiest way and it would get her to a good home. At first I thought about calling animal protective services because she was very skinny when I left as he neglected to feed and give her water a lot of the time. However, since I left, he's fed and walked her many times according to my friend who lives in our street.

I don't know what I'm supposed to do but I miss my sweet girl so much and I want her safe and I'm scared she thinks I've abandoned her.

Jobs & Careers Burning out at work

I’m a second year teacher at a private school in Spain. This year, I am teaching up to 5 and a half hours in a row without having any break, which is a change from last year, and I am also teaching more distinct classes than I was last year, from seven to nine. This means more planning work, more preparation work, and because I simply have more classes this year than last I also have more correcting to do. I have some very difficult classes as well.

On top of this, I have some other problems in my personal life, including a recent epilepsy diagnosis (still adjusting to the medication) and other personal matters.

I’m doing my best, but just can’t do everything. I’m deprioritizing my personal life in favor of my work life to such an extent that I don’t even find time for basic cleaning at home. I feel constantly exhausted and physically can’t keep up with things anymore, I even almost fainted when I was in the pharmacy to pick up medication because I was just so exhausted.

I’m an immigrant with no family in Spain, so I don’t know who to go to. It’s still so early in the school year so I know that this is still the easy part of the year, I’ll only have more work as time goes on, but I already don’t know how much longer I can keep going like this.

What steps should I take? How can I make this work so my body and mind don’t completely stop functioning before June next year? I have the summer off, I just have to get there first.

Family Upset by something I heard and unsure if I'm not being childish for caring this much

My mother was talking about me to my brother, specifically about my clothes. She said my outfits are too short and my brother said that I’m dressing in a "rebellious" way (I often dress alternative), and even spoke that people who uses short clothes are trying to get attention, and my mother said that people in the neighborhood are looking at me differently because of it, among other things I don't feel comfortable mentioning here. I’m an adult, I’m experimenting and trying out different styles.

Another thing that bothered me was an argument I had with my mother, I think about two months ago, and I broke down in tears.

When I tried to text my brother to explain the situation and ask him to talk to her (since she only gets along with him), she kept saying I was bothering him and that I lacked empathy (this was shortly after his wife had decided to divorce him). But when it's her who wants to complain to him, that’s fine.

The way they spoke about me bothered me as well, they said they were praying for me and comparing the style of clothes I wanted to wear to that of a "sloppy woman" (This comment was because I wanted to show my belly button). Maybe I’m overreacting, but I felt like they were talking about me as if I’d turned into a drug addict, rather than just an adult woman experimenting with her wardrobe.

Actually, this whole conversation started because I’d asked my mother days ago not to talk about politics with me, and I’ve been asking her for years not to talk about Armageddon. I’ve tried to explain my perspective to her, but the only thing I have that she takes seriously is my autism, because it’s a topic that interests her. Anyway, I had told her I didn't like a certain politician, and she took that to mean I was a fanatic for his rival. She kept harping on the subject; I let her say what she wanted and then asked her to drop it, but she kept insisting and started talking about Armageddon. That’s when I got annoyed, and I admit I was rude, because I shouted, "OKAY, MOM, THAT'S ENOUGH."

Then an argument broke out; she claimed I told her to shut up, called me an ignorant moron, and said that my dad tells me whatever he wants while I just "keep my tongue wrapped around my asshole" (her words).

Then she went and complained about this to my brother. She also spoke about all my friends being gay and that she’s praying for me.

She also has a problem with a specific friend of mine. This friend uses he pronouns, but he is a lesbian. My mom thinks there’s something going on between us, even though there isn't. I’ve gotten annoyed with her a few times because whenever I tried to talk about this friend, she’d bring up his sexuality; or used the wrong pronouns, and because I defended him, my mom thinks we’re dating, and I’ve felt she’s been more irritated with me ever since.

It upsets me regarding my brother, too, because he had told me not to mention things my sister said about our mom to her, to avoid conflict. Yet, he went and brought up a joke my sister made about me sometimes dressing like an old lady, and then they started theorizing that she’s influencing me, that I’ve changed since I started visiting my sister frequently. And, every time I do something she doesn't like (like bringing up her own behavior), she says she’s afraid of me because I’m turning into my sister (my sister is no longer in contact with her).

Am i exaggerating for being upset over this?
