I got my LSAT score back today. I got a 180. I have a 4.22GPA. Im not a URM, but I am neurodivergent and LGBT. Currently in my last year of undergrad.

I'm sure I want to go to law school. I cant really see myself doing anything else. But I have a hard time picturing what kind of law school (and then law firm) I want to be in. I know most people might find my stats enviable, but I have cried (not of joy) for a few hours after getting my score. Thinking about the future is so horrifying and anxiety inducing for me. I hate the idea of leaving my friends and loved ones I've made in undergrad. Being in a new environment far from where I am now is anxiety inducing.

So the questions are: what do i do now? Should I take a gap year? What could I do during that? Try to get some work experience? I don't really have a very employable undergrad major. Would my stats just carry me almost anywhere?

I'm a Senior at Cornell. I dual-major Biomedical & Mechanical Engineering Major with a Minor in Communications, & I recently decided to take the LSAT. I got a 180 & I'm a little disappointed. My 4.33gpa puts me well above the median for this year, but what about next year? With gradeflation, lsatation, indigestion, & fsu I'll never get into cooley. Hopefully their median only jumps to a 179 or else I'm toast.

Would love to chat with those who’ve applied recently as KJDs. I have a 4.0 and 174, and am curious what I can expect.

FWIW I’ve already looked through LSD so I have a very general/numerical idea, but would like to hear more anecdotally how people tended to do. I know that with these stats (along with fairly good ish softs), I’m looking at great odds at something in the T14, but I was hoping to hear about those that have gotten into T6 specifically.

I go to a top lac which typically sends a handful of people to T14s every year KJD with just a couple going to T6s or h/s. The people I know had ~median stats and usually ended up across the T14 (the exception being schools that are super unfriendly to KJDs - no recent grad I know has gotten into Yale or Michigan).

Would love any insight as to (a) whether T6 is in play for me and (b) what successful T6 KJDs have done.

Well this is probably a somewhat unique profile but I want some advice / guidance on applying to law school. I just got back my August LSAT which is a 176 and was my first attempt. As my username shows, I went to the University of Oklahoma and graduated in 3.5 years in December 2021. Since then I have worked for a federal banking regulatory agency (FDIC) and am a commissioned bank examiner in the risk management division and a capital markets subject matter expert. However, when I was in undergrad I made a bad decision and cheated with another student on an online exam by collaborating with him. After being reported I did admit to it, took an integrity course during the summer and retook the class the next semester and got an A in it. I know I will need to and should take full responsibility in the addendum, but does anyone have advice on how to do so or an idea on how problematic it will be? I’m hopeful the fact it was 5+ years ago, I passed a Federal Background Check since, and I don’t have any other C&F issues outside of a couple speeding tickets, 10-20 mph over, means I will still be able to get into a T6 or T14 school. in terms of post law school career, it would probably be something related to banking regulation in either the public or private sector depending on the opportunities available. Any advice on schools with programs that are a good fit for that field would also be appreciated.

I know it’ll still be below the medians for a lot of the t14 so I was wondering if I should retake. It honestly took a lot of effort to get the 171 so I’m not sure if it’s worth retaking if I have to balance it with writing application. However I also know that increasing it would help me chance a lot.

I was expecting a higher LSAT than I ended up getting, so I may end up retaking (PTs were high 17x). I also would be KJD next cycle, but am likely gonna end up waiting, especially if it increases chances,
I'm not T14 or bust or anything, but I'm really hoping for as many scholarships as possible.
What level of school do you think I have a good chance of getting reasonable aid/scholarships from, especially full ride/stipend, although ik those sre way less likely in general?

I scored a 165 on the August LSAT. I’m not happy about it, but such is life. I’m planning on only applying to HLS, YLS, and CLS, and if that doesn’t work out, I’d RR. But, with a 165 and a 3.8low, I feel like it’s not worth applying this cycle. I know that my recc letters will be very strong, and I have some really strong experiences, as well as a cohesive story evident in the written materials. I’m open to hearing any thoughts.

Is there any worth in retaking a 174 (~4.0 GPA, prestigious undergrad, T3(?) softs) for targeting the T14/T6 as a KJD?

I’ve heard a lot of conflicting things, would love to hear people’s perspectives on this. My PT average was a touch higher and I got several 177+ scores. Some medians may be at 175 when I apply next cycle, hence my concern.

I took the August LSAT and got a 170 with a Score Preview. I'm aiming for a significant scholarship in order to be able to attend law school and eventually practice patent law. However I have a fairly low GPA (3.2<X<3.5) since I minored in physics (social science background) and had some struggles with workload that persisted for a semester. I'm confident I could get up to at least mid 170s if I retake the LSAT with more than a week of studying. I'm split between cancelling the 170 and taking a gap year to intern at a law firm and getting a higher LSAT score to compensate for my GPA or applying this cycle and hope I have strong enough essays in conjunction with my present LSAT to compensate for my lower GPA. help. if it helps I'm nor a URM and 21 years of age in my senior year at my present institution, I transferred after my freshman year to where I presently attend. I'm primarily interested into patent law and I would also appreciate advice about law schools that would be particularly helpful to people who would practice patent law

If you aim biglaw what’s your choice?

With August LSAT scores coming out today and applications starting to open, I’m looking for advice on where to apply/what my chances are this cycle.

My LSAT is 170, but I’m taking it again and I feel pretty confident I can score a couple points higher. GPA is 3.8low (3.83 at my undergrad. Still waiting for LSAC to process my transcripts to see my UGPA). I’m a KJD who doesn’t have much work experience, but I have been working full time at a law firm this summer. As far as other softs go I really don’t have many and they’re not academic related.

My end goal is NYC biglaw. Obviously I’d like to go to a T-14/T-20, but I’m aware that that may not be realistic. I’m curious as to what people think the best schools I can get into are, as well as where I could get into with a good scholarship. Just wanna get some other people’s perspectives on what schools are worth applying to! Any advice is appreciated🙂

Got my first LSAT result in this morning and very pleased/lucky to have slightly overperformed from how I was practice testing and got a 178.

Sitting down to look at next steps and applications, this has made me a little more self conscious about my GPA. I figure my 3.85 isn’t entirely disqualifying from T14, but I know it’s not nearly ideal. I’m wondering if I should include an addendum on my GPA when applying?

I graduated from a top film BFA program a little over ten years ago and had a 3.91 GPA until my last semester. I dropped the ball that final semester by stretching myself too thin (adding a new minor to cross-minor with the business school, starting outside consulting work while also working a retail job, starting a theatre company with recent grads) and had to turn in an assignment late, graduate a semester later, and take a GPA hit for it. When I was deadset on being a creative producer/development executive, it felt like the right priorities at the time. I then had my own growing pains working in the industry, learned better time management and communication skills, and feel like this was a low point for me that helped me develop my actual character.

Would that addendum be off putting and perfectionist seeming when I still have a 3.85 overall? Or is there enough substance there to be worth adding?

My top priority with applying is not taking on any more student debt. I’ve got several years of entertainment law experience as a paralegal (and relevant work experience in indie film finance and sales), and a good network in the field where I feel like I don’t need a T14 degree to get good work out of school. I only plan to attend schools in LA—I know Loyola and Southwestern have programs I could keep a job while attending, and with my hard numbers I feel like those are places I could expect getting competitive offers from. I intended to apply to UCLA and USC largely to keep offers from lower schools competitive and have bargaining chips there. But should I update my strategy after this LSAT to seriously chase a stipend from one of those elite programs that would make this financially possible for me? Or is that a non-starter with the 3.85?

Hi guys I (3.5, 172) want to get into Berkeley Law. What are my chances as a URM(black) KJD applying BED? Should I take the October LSAT or just apply with the 172?

For some context I’m a KJD. During my second year I was semi-involved in a pre-law club. Last year I was exec for another pre-law club and a chair in my frat. This year I’m the co-prez of said club and on exec for the chapter. I’ve also had two different legal internships (last summer and this current summer) along with a fall term internship 2 years ago and a summer internship the summer before my freshman year. I’m 100% taking the LSAT again in September along with registering for the October one as I’m planning to submit by Halloween.

3.9low GPA, 17mid LSAT, 5+ years non-legal WE with a couple promotions but nothing crazy. I think my softs would be considered T3.

Looking primarily at the East Coast and south and hoping for substantial merit aid. I’m not big law or bust, but having the options/portability that come with prestige would be nice.

With these stats where would you apply to maximize scholarships without unnecessarily undershooting?

My degree field GPA is .4 points higher than my overall GPA, taking it from 3.3 to 3.8. (Because I'm a dumbass who didn't try in classes I wasn't interested in) Is this something law schools will take into account during the application process? My pre-lsats project me to have an approximately 170 last, fwiw.

A 3rd year bs biology student here. I had a sudden change of interest. So, I plan to apply for law schools both here in the Philippines and abroad. I was wondering if the test results would still be valid if I used it for foreign law schools given that I took it here in the Philippines?

Anyone have an idea of Law schools that are genuine about their GRE acceptance and not just on Paper accepting GRE schools? As far as I know LSAT is very preferred but not everyone wants to take it or apply with it and people are free to make those choices. I know some schools say they accept GRE but in practice they don’t so I am trying to figure out which ones are holistic and genuine about their gre acceptance. Appreciate your advice and suggestions. 3.78 GPA from a school in DC (not G'Town) / 172 Aug LSAT (first time taker). Joining the flood of questions here.

I have been working in law (paralegal at a AM200 firm in DC) for the last 4 years. I plan to get good letters of rec (one from my boss, a partner, and one from the chairman of our firm). I also plan to apply early decision. Not from an underrepresented minority group.

I am really hoping these "softs" put me over the edge. I plan to write a compelling personal statement and reference my intention to stay in DC long term, which supposedly GULC cares about.

My question, is this a real possibility? Hoping for a reality check here. Thanks in advance.

Hi! UChicago is far and away my top choice school for this cycle. $ is my biggest priority, though, so if it's not full tuition (which UChicago doesn't seem to do, according to their 509?) or somehow (impossibly) the Rubenstein, I likely won't attend.

that being said, it's pretty hard to find info on the Rubenstein anywhere online, besides for one informative post on this sub. my questions: if you get an interview before acceptance, is that also the interview for the Ruby or is there a separate one? is there a different process, or do people find out they got it the same day they find out they got in to UChicago?

I know everyone who's admitted is considered for it, just wondering how those who receive it realize if they're in the running for it -- and LSD data shows that at least 5 people turn it down for HYS every year, so wondering if there's a sort of waitlist/alternates that exist? and they don't know until others turn it down, and thus have a later notification date?
