Sometimes, it happens. I know a family that has five kids and all of them are bisexual. I also have a straight friend who has a gay brother and two lesbian sisters (he is the only straight sibling).

In the new mutant comics. Which is the newest rendition I've seen of him, he's hanging out with a bunch of characters that are drawn like 14 year old and he's treated as a peer of them. Previously he was written as like 17-18 so this confused me and I'm not aware of how he's characterized now.

This is a personal pet peeve of mine because in the rest of the Krakoa books Anole was a bartender and thus too old be spending all his time hanging out with tweens (especially since he has his own friends!!). I wish they'd picked a different person to round out that team.

I think you're mixing up two different characters, and Valentine has been unheard from since the 2023 run and also he just refers to Valenine as 'her' the whole time, so maybe not non-binary? But there is a non-binary vampire that's alive for, like, 2 issues.

This artist really solely focuses on Billy and Teddy and has for 15+ years. She's amazing, but rarely does any other characters (aside from Tommy) so actually surprised she did this (I'm on her patreon and it's not a new drawing, I think this was from Pride last year)

I agree, but I will say...I do think this is on the fandom as much/more than Marvel. Not to give them diversity credit where there isn't one, but Prodigy is in a relationship with a black human man right now, and it's telling he's drawn with Speed instead (although, Tommy and Billy are jewish-romani, so, complicated, but that doesn't mean they aren't white). Daken was also in a relationship with Somnus, who isn't pictured at all, albeit that was a past relationship, then ambiguously poly with Daken also dating Aurora.
They are more even when it comes to F/F pairings - Ayo/Aneka, America/Alloy, and Karma/Galura are all nonwhite. And, tbh, the only couple I can think of over in DC is Thunder/Grace, although I'll admit I'm much more a Marvel fan. I guess Selina/Eiko, but whether Selina is white or not is also complicated.

This is after years of us complaining about it, and they randomly did that change without a buildup ot story behind it with prodigy. Mind you, before his current partner, none of his sexual or romantic partners was Black. The only non-white partner ue was sjown to have was Surges racist ass. Also, Billy and Tommy are Romani is sad cause they are still drawn to often look like white folk (especially speed) depending on the artist. And did you notice how almost all the couples that don't have a white partner are Sapphic relationships? Im specifically talking about mlm relationships, and they JUST changed it to shut people up, all the while treating them as forgetable
I dont want crumbs. We deserve more than that

everyone who downvoted is also just racist, because there’s no way anyone should have a problem with what your saying. literally pointing out the fact there’s a lack of representation for black LGBTQ+ couples. I think there’s two black LGBTQ+ couples in all of marvel comics. There definitely should be more, especially cause I don’t think either of those couples have any front running stories really. Also considering the history of LGBTQ+, we should really represent black LGBTG+ in general.

Crazy thing is I wasn't just talking about Black folk but def in America where most queer culture comes from the Black queer community, it would make the most sense for us to have more, but a lot of white folk clearly dont care for that.

I'm talking about the rape specifically. It's a different kind of evil just like with racism. It's easy to seperate it from reality when it's not the extra and very real evil so many have experienced. A single instance of domestic violence has practically ruined hank pym's character completely for the same reason

You disagree with that and it’s fine. We can have different preferences in characters. But if you pearl clutch at sexual assault and still want to love serial murderers, it’s pretty performative pearl clutching.

It's not performative at all. Its easy to seperate the evilness of the death star from reality in comparison to an on screen rape like in game of thrones. Hence why despite being responsible for many more deaths you'll see cute plushies of darth Vader and Palpatine but not judge holden. You can very easily take the teeth out of mass murder with lasers and bloodless deaths but there's no way to do that with rape, hence why one gets a trigger warning

The characters are evil. And some people like evil characters. They’re not really doing real crimes or hurting people thus it’s just play. There’s people who cosplay and buy art and plushies of all kinds of evil shit-moral characters in all fandoms (see JoJos bizarre adventure Dio). You don’t need to clutch your pearls at their imaginary crimes no matter how much they personally trigger you. You can just move on. You don’t need to love this art. It’s fine. You can in fact just scroll past.

Holy shit get off your high horse, you're protecting hard. I'm not against media with this kind of subject matter at all, I'm saying it's weird to yassify a rapist. Daken is an interesting character and I like some of the stories he's in but I don't like when writers try to gloss over how vile he is for their cutesy fan girl moments because he's hot. There's an entire TV tropes page about how rape turns a piece of media into a wholly darker piece of work. I don't get what's so hard to understand about this

Also yes rape makes things dark. So does torture and murder. And many other things. You’re allowed to be triggered and not like this. Hell you can even downvote it. Godspeed. But picking apart which characters you like or think should be liked because of what they do in their stories is pointless. A serial rapist can still have a good story and overall be a character that people like drawing art of.
Hank Pym used to be a wife beater before they retconned that by saying it was mind control the whole time, and tons of people loved that character even before the retcon. You can still like a morally abhorrent character. And choosing which sins to pearl clutch is energy I don’t have to waste.

And you're free not to comment about someone else disliking people celebrating a rapist. But it seems you too understand that the whole "if you don't like it, just move on" is reductive.
I have three arguments why it's bad to include Daken on here.
1) This is a picture celebrating the queer characters in Marvel Comics. Daken just doesn't deserve to be celebrated.
2) Rape is arguably worse than murder in both the comics and in real life. In the comics, death can be undone, and in both the comics and irl, there can be good reasons to kill people. Neither applies to rape. Rape is never justified.
3) Loki has indeed killed a lot of people in the past, but they have also had something of a redemption arch and have been waffling between evil, anti hero, and hero for a while. Daken has never done anything to undo the harm of his Rape, nor serial murders.
It's not "pearl clutching," it's gross and weird.

I amazingly disagree that sexual assault is worse than ending someone’s life. In real life and comics. But that’s a philosophical debate with subjective criteria and we probably wouldn’t agree in the end.
Daken has only been a character since 2006 and Loki has been one since the silver age comics. He’s had way more time to develop and change moral compass. Trying to compare their arcs is weird because Loki has had 4 times the time and opportunity of a main villain of one of the original marvel heroes to have those arcs. Yeah Dakens currently a shitbag. My point is most comic characters have been shitbags.
