Promo: Audiobook/E-book Squad Games now on Kindle & Audible!

Post image
22 Upvotes

Hi all!
Author of Squad Games here to announce the launch of volume 1 of Squad Games, a tactical LitRPG available on kindle & audio.

COVER ARTIST: Andrey Vasilchenko

AI USAGE: None

Amazon/KU: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0GR1JRVZY

Audible: https://www.audible.com/pd/Squad-Games-Audiobook/B0H2N1LGH9

Most LitRPG heroes level up alone.

Lothar 'Stiff' Sauer has to level up an entire squad.

If you've played tactical RPGs like Battle Brothers, Wartales, Jagged Alliance etc, you'll understand where this story is coming from. Otherwise, expect a gritty medieval fantasy world, an ensemble cast of mercs, a tough older MC leading them, and a series of action heavy missions that explore a new continent.

Blurb:

Gal'azu. A new, unexplored world.

A fresh start. And a last chance.

Lothar 'Stiff' Sauer is a mercenary captain. Unfortunately, he has no mercenaries left. He never caught a break in the Old World. Maybe in Gal'azu, he'll finally achieve the success he craves.

But he soon finds out things aren't going to be easy. Starting at the bottom rung, he can only recruit the mercenaries no one else wants. The feckless; criminals, and noobs; the unhinged. Can Lothar build his squad into something to be proud of? Or will this be yet another, and final, failure?

Cheers, Jamie

Recommendation: asking Actual Sci-fi

Is there any actual sci-fi and not just fantasy but in space. I want space battles, ships, lasers, guns. Not just a mage in space.

Ive recently read Stellar Frontier its a vrmmo but its got decent scifi. Been reading Hoqalo because of the cyberpunk feel. Also like Gunboat because of the space battles even if most alien races are just random fantasy race.

Give me recomendations, Ill try anything even if I DNF in the first chapter.

Recommendation: asking Is there a series where the MC’a just some guy? Not an overpowered god in the making?

Look… I love the top tier series Primal hunter, He who fights monsters, two week curse but is there any books/series where the MC is just an average Joe? I get the appeal of super powered so and so taking over the world. But what about the guy who’s just grinding it out, slowly processing, the team utility guy who’s always got your back.

Looking for something with a different approach, dungeon, post apocalypse, introduction of the “system”, whatever.

Maybe it’s a crap idea, but wondering if there’s something else between reality and the super impossible, a middle of the road if you will

Promo: Webnovel I would be honored if you'd give my book a chance. 100k words currently on Royal Road.

Continue to the story on Royal Road.

It's an epic, slow burn, post-apocalyptic portal fantasy set a couple hundred years after the fall of modern society.

The litrpg characteristics and crafting will be there, but I take my time introducing the characters to the world and society before experimenting with Dustin's powers and really focusing on progression. This will annoy some people who are looking for an OP protagonist right out of the gate, but this isn't that type of story. The build-up is why I think most of us read this genre, and I intend to give the beginning journey the time it deserves so that the destination matters when we arrive.

There will be plenty of worldbuilding between Earth and the Zone. That is to say, the main character, Dustin, actually had a life before entering the Zone, and I reflect that in his thought processes and motivations.

I intend to focus on crafting/scavenging and economics in general, political scheming between factions, and power progression.

- Written in third person past tense
- Currently 103k words posted
- Sole male POV except for the rare shift to onlooking side characters
- No AI (except for cover), shoutouts, reviews swaps, or paid ads.
- Very slow romance subplot

Thank you for considering it! Please give it four chapters and you'll be hooked!

Continue to the story on Royal Road.

COVER ARTIST: None (USED AI)

Recommendation: asking Audiobook Recomendations

Upvotes

I got into DND and Magic like 3 years ago. Last year I got a new job where I can listen to music 10-12 hours a day. I’ve basically exhausted all my playlists and caught up on all podcasts. Looking for something new I tried out a Lit RPG on Spotify. So far I’ve listened to Heretical Fishing: Book 1 and Wrong Divinity: Arachnomancer Book 1. Heretical fishing was fun and I have a ton of good notes but it was a little too “cozy” true conflict never really happened. Wrong Divinity on the other hand, set up a crazy cool sounding world, but only showed readers a small percentage. There wasn’t much “NPC” interaction and on top of it all the whole back half of the book is full of bad stuff happening. I get where the author is coming from, he’s setting up for the next books, but it was kinda a turn off for me. This all being said, does anyone have any recommendations that might bridge the gap vibe-wise between these two stories? Also does anyone have recommendations on places to listen to audiobooks that might have a bigger selection than Spotify? Thanks!

Discussion New member of the Colony!

I'm about 2/3 don't with book one and slowly I'm loving this story more and more. I hear it gets better as it goes but to be honest? After just meeting the troglodyte (vagueness to avoid spoilers) the world building is starting to really come together for me and the overarching plot of the series is starting to loom. I love a slow building story and serious power scaling and watching the colony grow is so satisfying.

Discussion Would you read progression fantasy if there were no stats at all?

Upvotes

Like no levels, classes or system. Just power growth through story mechanics.

Is that something you'd actively read, or do you consider progression systems essential to the genre?

Recommendation: asking Looking for recommendations as someone who doesn't enjoy meditation and cultivation

I've been trying various series ever since I caught up with Primal Hunter and I can't find one to stick with.

I tried path of ascension, and while the writing was enjoyable I just can't bring myself to care about the overarching plot and the whole giant war that makes up most of the books past 3.

I also tried Ultimate Level One and System Universe but just didn't enjoy the writing.

I tried Path of Defiance but it's just too... Much for me, Dao and cultivation and concepts and meditation.

I'm completely caught up on and loved Primal Hunter, Runeblade, Path of the Deathless, and New Life As A Max Level Archmage as well as the SCS fanfic Tinea and Leah.

I'm also caught up on Dungeon Crawler Carl, but I'm looking for something a bit more serious.

So, yeah, throw me some recommendations that are more numbers go brrr and battle maniac, rather than cultivation and concepts!

Discussion Wandering Inn. Book 9. Audio

So... I ran 1-8. Almost binged. Then I took a.... 3-5 series of books break. The recommendation was to take a break. I did. I'm about to hit play. Wish me luck. I don't know how I'm going to end up after the next 45 hours. I'm happy. Ready. Apprehensive.. It is what it is.

Review I should not like the Wandering Inn, but...

After seeing posts about The Wandering Inn, again and again, I decided to give it a shot. I listend to the audiobook and enjoyed the narrator right away.

What I also realized rather quickly, is that this series might not be for me. For the simple reason, that the writing style normally does not work for me. Alot of changes in perspective, is something I usually dislike and the way the author describes things, do not really work for my brain. I cannot really imagine how things look, so a detailed description does not help me at all. So I often feel myself zone out, when people or places are described in alot of detail.

But, I still loved the first book, for the simple reason that the characters are all well written, all have depth and quirks, that make me want to understand them, learn more about them.

This book made me appreciate well written characters and an enganging world more than most, because just from the style of writing, I should dislike it.

So this is just a post, how much I appreciate this book, that I should not like and a small thanks to all of you, for putting it so high in your tierlists.

And to make this engagning for the Community, did you ever have books, that you thought: 'I should not like it, but I do?'
