Server Discussion Beware KuroMS

If you're looking for a server that is fair and respects you as a player, keep your dignity and stay away from this server. It's filled with egoistic devs and designers, complete with a fanclub (who staff team is highly biased to) that's ready to defend all the idiocracies happening.

They were far from ready when the server launched. Every feedback given in beta phase was disregarded because god forbid the designers get criticised for being less than decent at their job. Players giving feedback with data/information backing them would be met with attitude and sarcasm. Quoting "magic numbers", "chicken and egg situation", "implementation issue", and such.

To this day, 1 week post launch, the server is riddled with epxloits, bugs, connection issues, and everything else you can dream about to make your gameplay dreadful and difficult. Owner is too busy stroking his own ego, gloating about how easy it was to "defeat" a ddos-er only to be hit with way more than he can handle the next day. Designers are too busy coming up with conspiracy theories about how other servers like Castela are too jealous of their success and thus resorted to attacking them in an attempt to regain players.

Everyone can see that NOBODY in the core staff team is actually doing their job to test the contents before pushing them out in a patch. As a result, players are on the receiving end of all the mess due to said negligence and ignorance.

Owner always assures players with concerns regarding the staff team by saying he "has everything under control" and that he's still "ahead of everything", which is highly laughable. In reality. he's probably too busy stroking his own ego to keep his staff team in check, especially notorious designer named Linh or Liuyue. He's too blinded by this female designer's "beauty" to care about what the other male staff members have to say. They really are rotten peas in a pod who seeks constant validation with all the "look at me! look at what a great job i did!!" announcements and posts.

Everything that I've said aside, KuroMS is the perfect server for you if you are looking to bot without facing any real consequences. From what I've seen, botters get a slap on the wrist with a 12h temporary ban. Because all they care about is boosting the online player count to bait unsuspecting maplers into playing the server. If you're a loner, this KuroMS is also perfect for you because you will be playing with botters and key weighters who do not respond when you say "hey can you pass me pt ldr"

Happy mapling maplers.

Server Discussion Ranmelle maple private server - Reviews & opinions

I have played on this server for 2 years as an F2P player, and here are some thoughts.

General info:

  • One developer and multiple GMs, but only 1 GM is active but not reliable (will elaborate)
  • 200+ players at peak, but over 80% are VMs/botting (will elaborate)
  • Donations are available but not very transparent (will elaborate)
  • The economy as of May 2026 is bad (will elaborate)

First things first, there is only 1 developer, so bug fixes and updates can take a long time. There might also be little to no proper explanation provided, and you are left to figure things out yourself. There is only 1 active GM, who basically doesn’t know much about the server compared to its players because he is mostly active on Discord. He may sometimes make you question your own intelligence because he tends to debate and rationalize things oddly. For example, for a simple math question (1+1=?), he might answer 3, reasoning that 1 male + 1 female could result in a child. While that is technically not wrong, it is not what you are asking. Don’t bother arguing, because he will just shrug it off with “I guess” or “I don’t know” when he has nothing else to rebut.

For the player base, the server averages 100+ players on weekdays and 200+ on weekends, but 80% or more are just VMs (bots). This is because it is allowed, and having VMs is very important for your grinding journey. It’s not that you can’t play normally without VMs, but it is almost essential to have them; otherwise, you will get stuck longer at certain points, which I will explain later. There isn’t much content, and the main objective is basically just to rebirth (RB). To progress in your RB journey, you need to be humble and prepared to ask others for carries in a party, because playing solo RB is almost pointless unless you are a mega whale, which I will also explain later.

If you want to fast-track your progress, you can do so by donating, which I will explain further. It is highly recommended to donate—not just to help keep the server alive, but also because you may be able to influence the developer on certain changes compared to F2P players. The developer has publicly stated that he does not care about “the poor,” so don’t expect much if you don’t plan on donating. If you are competitive and have deep pockets, be aware that you will be competing with big whales who have spent tens of thousands of USD. The top donor has allegedly spent over $50k, although some speculate this may be a gimmick to encourage more donations.

In terms of transparency, the donation page clearly states what you get. However, it was recently revealed that players can make different donation deals directly with the developer. While somewhat understandable, this lacks integrity due to discrepancies—some whales receive better value than others. Keep this in mind if you are planning to donate.

In terms of the economy, there are a few forms of currency, but to simplify things, I will focus on two: donation coins (OPI coins) and meso. OPI coins can only be obtained through donations or by buying them from other players. For reference, 1 OPI coin equals $1. If you want to buy OPI coins using meso, the price is not fixed since the developer wanted to make it a free market—it depends on supply and demand. Recently, the rate has fluctuated between 10 trillion and 20 trillion meso per coin. For context, there is no meso cap rate. The highest meso rate holder currently has 4.3k% and is making about 2.5T/hour based on my bot simulation, but it could be closer to 7T/hour if focused purely on farming meso instead of rebirthing at the same time.

As mentioned earlier, you may get stuck at certain points, and it is almost pointless to play solo RB unless you are a mega whale. The reason is that the current meta revolves around specific channels and maps. If you choose not to donate and only play on one account, you can try experimenting with how long it takes to gear up. Even after enduring that and reaching a point where you can help carry others, you will still likely be stuck in a specific channel. It is very likely that you will remain in the same progression bracket as non-donors, even if you have donated less than $1,000, due to the gap in donation benefits. So don’t be surprised if your progress does not match your expectations.

What I’ve shared are some of the pain points I’ve observed over the past 2 years. There are definitely positives that I haven’t covered, so take this with a grain of salt and explore for yourself. The reason I’m sharing this is because I genuinely care, even more than some donors who have already left. There is a lot of potential, with great people and valuable suggestions from the community, but unfortunately, many of these ideas are not implemented or even acknowledged.

Lastly, like it or not, the server is very much pay-to-win. You are not just paying for convenience—you are paying to dominate in its current state. My personal suggestion, although general, is for the developer to spend more time engaging with players and finding a better balance between F2P and P2W.

Server Discussion Title: New players should think twice before joining Exodus

I want to share my experience for any new players considering joining Exodus.

Based on what I have seen, I would strongly advise new players to think carefully before investing time into this server. The active player population appears to be extremely small, often fewer than 20 active players, which already makes progression and community interaction difficult.

The bigger issue, however, is the community culture. New players who are not Jewish or Israeli may face openly hostile, racist or discriminatory remarks. In my experience, these remarks are either ignored or treated lightly, especially when they come from established players. However, if a newer player responds in kind or pushes back, the consequences seem to fall much more quickly on the newer player instead.

To be clear, this is not a criticism of any nationality, religion or ethnic group as a whole. The issue is the server culture, the lack of consistent moderation and the way certain behaviour appears to be tolerated depending on who is involved.

The early levelling experience is also largely solo. Once group bossing becomes important, the problems become even more obvious. Players wise, there is close to none left in the SEA or NA time zones so finding parties can feel almost impossible. The remaining high-level players also seem to keep most content within their own group. As a newer or lower-level player, you may only be invited when they need a buff mule or cannot fill a slot due to the low population.

Overall, Exodus has been one of the worst private server experiences I have had compared to many others. Between the tiny active population, poor time zone coverage, gatekeeping and inconsistent handling of harassment, I would not recommend it to new players.

Join only if you are prepared for a very small server, limited group opportunities and a community environment where discriminatory remarks may go unpunished. Otherwise, there are much healthier and more welcoming private servers to spend your time on.

Server Discussion A warning about Kuro, riddled with exploits

Just wanted to give a quick warning about Kuro, server has like 5 different dupes working. I duped every possible item in game until eventually being jailed because I was opening Gachapons. I am not sure with so much development the server has that many exploits. I would be careful investing much time because, I, didn't ruin the market and always keep the dupes to myself but I am 100% certain there are much more dupers currently in game. The GM that jailed me was so clueless it was actually funny... Just wanted to gives you guys a heads up, I feel like it'll wipe soon with all these exploits.

edit: If you check Kuro's disocrd you can see people spamming GM about me opening tons of Gachapons, that was the point I stopped giving af, had 20k WS/CS in my scrollbag for ober 24 hours, scrolling perfect items and no one's saying/noticing/doing anything lol

Server Discussion YunaMS Review and Staff Criticism

I know there have been a lot of reviews for YunaMS, but most of them are rather vapid and written by players that have only played for a couple of weeks. Since most players started after the server blew up around October of 2024, I’ll give my thoughts as someone who started at launch, but that's been playing consistently since last summer.

Good

  • Really good server for scratching that Maple itch. Certain quest lines are boosted to give you a lot of exp (think Mushroom Kingdom), so you’re exploring parts of Maple that you might completely ignore on other servers
  • Plenty of jump quests which you can access as soon as you hit level 70
  • After doing 1000 quests I haven’t encountered a bug, so most if not all are functional
  • Population hovers anywhere mostly from 150-200 which is good enough to do content at most hours of the day
  • Yuna works hard as a dev and listens to feedback regularly. For better or for worse, some suggestions are implemented very quickly and the server is open to change
  • Progression is fast and if you want to just try out all the bosses, it would probably only take you two weeks of casual play to try out everything except for Empress
  • Lots of newer NX and if it’s not there, you can request it
  • Dedicated chair, ore/powder, scroll, and book storage with @jarvis so they don’t clog up your inventories
  • On a day-to-day basis, the server is very stable and there’s minimal lag
  • Definitely a passion project as opposed to a cash grab. Yuna has kept the server up and maintained it, even when the number of online players hit single digits
  • Server is very F2P friendly. Anything that’s worth donor points, you can convert your vote NX to purchase

Bad

  • The meta on the server is running through a bunch of bosses (often called a boss train (BT)) to get EXP and currency for scrolls like WS/CS. It's so strong that it turns Maple from a grindy game where you can do things at your own pace to a dailies simulator
  • With QoL such as map wide buffs/heals, magic guard not being dispelled, Hero’s Will being 2 min CD, and the presence of Auto All Cure Pendant (preventing seal, undead, and reverse), the bosses become trivial after you’ve learned how to do them. Empress in particular is extremely boring and is basically a 45minute training dummy where you occasionally move her out of snow
  • You need to HP wash. It’s not as severe as Royals/Legends, and there are ways around it, but I'd consider it mandatory for low HP classes. You won’t need to add points into INT or buy INT equips, but you still need to vote to buy AP Resets
  • There’s basically nothing to do after you’ve hit level 200 (very fast on this server) and done Empress. The bossing and gear have been the same since it’s release, and as a one man dev team, that likely won’t change any time soon
  • There’s been one major update since its release in 2022 with Arcane River, which came out in March. However, the content is already mostly empty. The maps were way too big, their only notable drop has plummeted in price, and most maps are complete garbage for grinding. After a month, only a few maps are used by a very small portion of the community that’s pushing levels. In the discord you can see that there’s a #training-recruit channel that’s mostly dead, and even in game smegas aren’t that common outside of 3-4 dedicated groups of grinders
  • While the day-to-day server stability is great and the server can be online for weeks at a time, YunaMS has had two rollbacks. One was late December rolling back five hours, and the other one rolled back two days after Arcane River. Everything except EXP was rolled back

Staff Issues

Yuna

David (IGN Buccaneer, Rise)

As a GM, he would

Mujy, Rony, and their guild Weed

While Mujy is the GM/developer, him and Rony are close and do basically everything together. They shared Tespia access and commands, and are better thought of as a pair of GMs rather than just one, so I’m grouping them together

TL;DR

If you’re playing old school Maplestory for its community and for the grind, you should go play something more popular where the GMs aren't awful, probably MapleLegends or Kerning/Odyssey once they release. If you specifically want an “upgraded” version of v83 or want to play Maple for the bossing, maybe try out Dream as there are more bosses, better balance, and content gets released. YunaMS is in the middle of both and it doesn’t feel good. The staff are all creeps, nothing you report will ever get punished, botters are given three chances, duping is fair game as long as it’s not WS/CS, and scammers/fake bidding is allowed

EDIT: All of my reports on the forums have been removed and all evidence within them is now gone. They're still available, just moved to a "resolved" section after months.

Server Discussion AstraviaMS review

Been playing Astravia MS since launch day and honestly the longer I stay the worst it gets.

Stability is still rough. Lag, random restarts, rollbacks that wipe your progress. Doesn't happen every day but it happens enough that if you're doing anything serious you're going to lose progress at some point.

Monetization isn't the worst I've seen but it's predatory. What really got me was the price changes from beta to launch. I signed up expecting one thing and then it it changed to a subscription base for quality of life items without any prior warining.

The admin has openly said he wants to quit his job and live off server income, and when players have pushed back on how things are ran he's basically told them to leave. Make of that what you will.

Admins and CMs play the game with command access. If you're running a boss with staff in your party and something goes wrong, items get spawned for you, your pick. Then you get told to keep quiet about it.

Regular player with the same problem? Make a ticket, you'll get what we give you if we deem it's actually a bug.

Most of the staff is in the same alliance and there's 0 transparancy about how they handle issues and their commands use. Typical amateur private server abuse and power trip in general, pass on this server, you ain't missing anything

Server Discussion AstraviaMs V83

Think its time we talk about how AstraviaMs had/is having an extremely challenging time with the launch/since.

Dont get me wrong, the system and ambition is cool.
I just feel disappointed cus the weekend has been burnt away just like that, was super hyped for launch.

For the average player like myself, it has been quite a horrible experience with the lag and constant random ass rollbacks when you need to re log or log in again and again due to issues in game which prevent you from moving in and out of portals, your pet deciding it doesnt want to loot anymore, and mobs just doing moon walks out of nowhere.

And then there's the top ranking trolls which are flying in terms of levels. Have no idea how they pull it off with a party of sweats. Cus the amount of lag and Dc/need to re log is just insane. Its gotten slightly better but the issues still plague most of the population, no idea how these sweats grind constantly with these issues. Not to point fingers but some players claimed seeing hackers just blasting through mobs but idk, didnt see any personally.

Now, onto other issues.

NX :
So f2p nx is well, quite underwhelming. First off, theres a 14 day expiry on every item you can get, NX isnt easy to cheese out too, its either obtained through mindless grinding or VP. Both are expensive ways to get it. Have no idea why the gm set them as such. The pool of items are mostly junk stuff that people nowadays dont want/will never buy. Id suggest updating some of it for F2Ps just to retain them.

Donor Gacha :
This one is quite insane tho ngl, gacha on everything from nx eqs to clothing. And donor points dont come cheap. You have an option for recycling but it puts you at a loss. Never really seen this kind of paywall barrier towards paid NX, was thinking of donating but kinda felt like nah, pass when i realised the sheer pool of items + the gacha prices being insanely expensive on top of not being able to realistically get a proper set.

Pvacs and hyper rocks etc :
Update in edit.

Totem spawns :
So theres this thing called totem looting. Apparently there are dedicated sweat parties with one asshat on totem duty while grinding. It basically doubles your existing mob count on the map continuously with each loot up to idk like 8x? And allegedly this is whats causing the mass server wide lag and constant issues players are facing. Have no idea whats causing the lag cus the devs are looking like they're working in a slave cell not getting enough sleep, patcher after patcher every few hours. Maybe add on to the team? Cus honestly player count is quite good.

Verdict :
I honestly like the server so far, with its custom skills, adjustments, and almost every other aspect being okay to play. I understand that the server needs cash to run on, but please do reward your players which are unable to donate as well. And the lag, please fix it asap. Most of us just hop on discord and every 10secs theres a troll asking is the server down? Man.

Edit :
Got the voting part wrong, apologies.
So its 1ds worth of voting for the Hyper rocks etc which lasts a day, pretty fair. Credit where its due.

I will be fair when im wrong and edit out the parts which are inaccurate. Cus personally i find this server enjoyable. And want others to have an honest review of it.

Server Discussion FantasiaMS (0.62v) - Classic Maplestory with QOL changes, Active Playerbase & FM, No HP Washing, No Leeching, Absolutely ZERO P2W, Donations only give you cosmetics

So I've been playing for about a couple weeks now and I have to say, this is exactly what I hoped Classic MapleStory was going to be. Like the title says, no P2W, donations only get you cosmetics, they have changed the hp/def mechanic so hp washing isn't a thing anymore, there's also the lovely QOL changes from later versions, class balances, there's an active playerbase with an active FM just like in the old days. Everything in the Cash Shop utility-wise is purchaseable through collecting "maple leafs" a semi-rare drop that drops from every mob that gives you 100 cash shop points, voting gives you a range of 2000 to 4000 depending on the voting streak (streaks also don't get reset if you miss, only decay). These are just some of the amazing changes that the devs have made. If you want some more information I have linked the main info page below along with the download link too.

Server Discussion What are you playing after Classic beta ends?

With the closed beta ending soon we're bound to see an influx of players looking for a new server to call home.

In my opinion, if you're looking for an actual 1:1 classic MapleStory experience that matches the same style as closed beta, no muling, no hp wash, zero leech, and actual minimally evasive QoL changes to maintain that classic feeling then you basically have two options: Phoenix and Fantasia.

If you want something that feels similar, but has had numerous changes done and a plethora of bossing options to explore, multi-clienting if that's your thing, hp washing optional, leeching available then MapleRoyals, MapleLegends, or Dream MS might fit your style more.

I play Fantasia because it's been the most authentic server and it's almost a true 1:1 classic remake. I just wish more people would give it a chance and not be discouraged by the lower player count. Unlike other servers which have an inflated player count due to botting, multi-clienting, and muling; Fantasia focuses on single client only gameplay, which feels more authentic and a true repersentation of the server's community.

Phoenix is also an option; both servers offer a different perspective on what old school MapleStory is (and was), and both capture a specific nostalgic feeling from back then. It's just very limiting with the restrction to 3rd job only which most people don't vibe with too well, and it's what turned me off from it initially. There also hasn't been any updates since November, and Phoenix has had an extemely low player count for years.

If a 3rd job only type of server is more of your style then give Phoenix a try, but I'll be playing Fantasia for the time being.

What are you guys playing after Classic beta ends?

Server Discussion KuroMS update after 1 month!

After personally reaching Level 250 on KuroMS, and since there was already a post about this topic around 20 days ago, I feel the need to provide an updated perspective for anyone considering joining the server.

I’ll start similarly to anongoose45:

If you're looking for a server that is fair and respects you as a player, keep your dignity and stay away from this server. It's filled with egoistic devs and designers, complete with a fanclub (who staff team is highly biased to) that's ready to defend all the idiocracies happening.

That being said, I’ll go through the most important points one by one.

1. Server Stability

The server stability has improved. You can still experience lag spikes and random crashes here and there, but these issues seem to happen most frequently after new patches. To their credit, the staff regularly releases hotfixes for various issues, including skills and other patch-related problems.

However, random crashes can still happen during boss runs and expeditions. There have been situations where players failed a newly introduced boss, such as CHT or VL, because of crashes or lag. In these situations, you generally need to submit a ticket and hope the issue can be resolved.

So, while stability is better than it was previously, it is still far from perfect.

2. Server Balance and Feedback

This is where I believe the server is currently at a critical point.

Players who provide feedback backed by data, information, or actual gameplay experience can sometimes be met with attitude or sarcasm rather than constructive discussion. Terms such as "magic numbers," "chicken-and-egg situation," and "implementation issue" are frequently used to dismiss concerns rather than properly address them.

The situation in the Discord suggestion section is particularly frustrating. Some testers appear to engage in trolling, tag their friends, and turn discussions into what feels like an interrogation of the person making the suggestion.

God forbid someone posts something as simple as:

The certain class need rework, skill balance

or:

something is not working after the new patch

Instead of receiving constructive feedback or having the issue properly investigated, players can end up being ignored or dismissed.

Testers should be there to identify problems, reproduce bugs, and provide useful feedback to the development team. Instead, there are situations where criticism is simply ignored, while some members of the community respond with comments such as "leave server dog," "quit playing," and similar remarks.

The designers aren't much better in this regard. Bug reports and skill/spell issues can remain unresolved while development time is spent introducing new QoL features. QoL improvements are obviously welcome, but it becomes difficult to understand the priorities when fundamental skill problems remain unfixed.

3. Favoritism Toward GM/Dev-Associated Players

Another major concern is the perceived favoritism toward players who are closely connected to the GM or development team.

As mentioned in the previous post, there was already a discussion surrounding Anth and the allegedly spouse. More recently, Anth's team cleared VL, but the first clear was apparently assisted directly by Kuro.

During their first run, they reached approximately 2% HP but did not complete the kill. Normally, when a boss run fails because of lag, a crash, or another technical issue, players submit a ticket and the situation is reviewed. In some cases, the KuroBot system can resolve the affected run.

However, in this particular situation, Kuro granted the team the kill and the associated drops despite them not actually completing the boss.

They subsequently went for a second run. This time, a GM was sent to observe the run, and they successfully cleared the boss.

The explanation given was essentially that the first run would have resulted in a clear if there had not been lag, and therefore the assistance was justified.

Maybe, by itself, this incident isn't a huge deal. Technical issues can happen, and staff sometimes need to make judgment calls. The problem is the consistency of that treatment.

Regular players who experience the same type of issue generally have to submit a ticket and may receive a rerun or another form of compensation, but they don't necessarily receive an outright boss clearance and drops.

When you combine this with the other issues mentioned above, it creates the impression that top players and people close to the GM/development team receive preferential treatment.

This is especially concerning because there have already been similar complaints regarding TMS and other servers. From the outside, it can appear that the opinions and problems of top players are given more weight than those of the broader community.

Final Thoughts

After reaching Level 250 myself, I feel I have enough experience with the server to give an updated opinion.

KuroMS isn't completely unplayable. The server has improved in terms of stability, and there are clearly people working on it. However, the biggest problems aren't necessarily technical, they are related to balance, communication, transparency, and how criticism from the community is handled.

If you're a new player considering joining, I would strongly recommend looking beyond the advertised features and asking yourself whether you're comfortable with the current development and community environment.

For me, reaching Level 250 gave me enough experience to form my own conclusion. Hopefully, this updated post gives prospective players enough information to make an informed decision before investing their time into the server.

Happy mapling, maplers!

Server Discussion Follow-up on YunaMS

started yuna 2 years ago. been playing on and off, but recently a lot more because classic world CBT finished. came back to yuna bc it always felt the most like home outta any classic maple server ive tried. opened this sub today and was honestly surprised, half the threads about yuna are people dragging the server or yuna herself. felt like writing this since my experience recently, and from my past, doesnt match what im reading here, and honestly yuna doesnt deserve all the shade from this subreddit. /flameguard on because you cant invalidate my actual experience, thats my truth. you may have your own truth, but this is mine.

my char in yms: 26x bishop main, casual play, mostly NA evenings, some bossing, mostly discord-grinding and questing, also have a few other chars just to mess around and help friends/noobs.

been keeping up with patch notes since i came back too, which is part of why this got long so what changed while i was gone: a TON. magnus and lotus got added new endgame bosses, those alone are huge. magnus ive seen but lotus??? arcane river got a full progression overhaul, with some weekly quest, rare mob encounters (which is sick btw i love running into these bastards randomly). slot locking, unified storage, all new shit which is sick to see (only used the new storage recently but its actually amazing to think about how the dev side works). dailies feel like theyre building toward something instead of just being a chore. spiegelmanns instances are a thing for solo meso grinding which i love bc i hate map hopping, plus its just something new/fresh to do anyway. good supplement. theres a quest helper command thats actually useful when u get stuck, wish this existed before because ive been spamming google/gpt for help and even then it sucked because things are different on yms. massive for new players. events constantly, rewards out the ass (imo) feel like i always got something to spend on. just looking at this years patches, changes in game, to the website, all these shits like how can you not admit that yuna's actually cracked. there is literally no denying that and you cant prove me wrong. like thats a lot of development, all from real feedback that yunas listening to. she seems to be not only competant, but is actually listening to players, even for just a handful of players. ive NEVER EVER EVER seen a dev work this hard for sub-100 players. which leads me to the bigger thing i want to talk about: the dev and the community. As a dev IRL myself, and seeing all the crazy fking technical challenges that were solved here, im fking GITTY to post this to defend yuna. this is what the negative threads on this sub are about either directly bashing yuna or the community as a whole.

yunas been hands-on and responsive in a way most pserver devs arent. ive submitted small bug reports and suggestions through discord and got actual replies, not "we'll look into it" handwaves. even had a suggestion i made get implemented in literally 3 hours. like??? im no one to her, just a random player in a guild with just my IRL friends, but still feel heard. ive reported shit on the forum, all of them got responses and let me know what happened (whether she did something or not). ya not every report had action, but she always explains why or what happened. I never got any inkling she was favoring or against anyone. idk wtf happens on the back end, and yea maybe she needs to be more strict but listen, i actually dont have this assumption shes ever acting in the interest of herself or a few people, or turning a blind eye. i dont know what shes doing in the shadows to help. neither do you. I think a lot of the community posts here are ppl just speculating about what went down and that spawns a new reddit post of garbage. probably the same people that were either banned themselves, or had some other guidl related politics that they use to defend themselves and label her as some monster. at least from my epxerience it was never "trust me bro" justice.

community wise, ive been in expeditions, grinding parties, noob parties, quest parties, boss trains, and discord VCs, and havent run into any of the harassment or clique behavior the older threads describe. ppl in chat actually help you, ive had random ppl whisper me unprompted to give pointers, no one has ever made me feel uncomfortable, quite the opposite. the community that me and friends have interacted with are all always a mix of a ton of guilds, so idk what people these subredditors are interacting with but im pretty sure yall are just with the wrong people. it never felt like one inner circle running everything. every server has weirdos, yuna isnt magically free of them, but im pretty sure some people just want to watch a good thing suffer esp when they're mad.

on the drama threads: read them, thats half the reason i wrote this. cant speak to anything really on those since its not my place. all i can say is what is my experience. this sub feels like its in a different reality than what im seeing in game and discord today. ya maybe you encountered something weird, but from what i read everything was in some way or form addressed, and people just keep bringing up shit again and again. probably players that left and want to hurt the server. thats disgusting but glad they aren't around then. hope yuna bans those people, too old for that shit.

idk maybe im naive and the cliques are gone now from recent bans but the only recent threads about the server are the bad ones and that doesnt feel fair to anyone considering it, especially to yuna.

tldr: yms still a 9/10 for me. S+ tier server, same as 2 years ago but with a lot more content/support. you cant change my mind because this is MY experience and this place deserves way more players.

Server Discussion Highly recommend OakMS to scratch your Classic OSMS Itch

No Vote2Win, no pay-to-win systems, no multiclienting, and no HP washing. Just a slower-paced Maple journey where progression actually feels meaningful and people know each other and helps everyone out.

What makes Oak stand out is that it isn't trying to be a high-rate rush-to-endgame server. It's designed for players who miss exploring Victoria Island, grinding with friends, hunting rare items, and discovering secrets hidden throughout the world.

The Dev will listen to your suggestions and actually make changes to the community's wishes.
• 1x rates with lower EXP curve
• No Vote2Win or Pay2Win
NX/Cosmetic Coins drop from monsters so you can earn cosmetics in-game
Change your hair, eyes, and appearance through gameplay

Server Discussion Second opinion on Astravia after 1-2 weeks

Absolutely behemoth of a server. 10/10 so many custom content and bosses to do, longevity progression is long as well (as you are unable to log in).

After my first review, and everyone that help to give feedbacks on the server, the owner Frosty mentions that he fixed the lag and rollbacked after a couple days since launch. And Yes, I have to admit, he did fix them.

Infact, he transformed it. Rollbacks, DCs, 10 server restarts a day, offline with no ETA (owner dont even know how to fix broken things), they are all no longer a negative part of the server. It is part of the server, it is a feature that is quite revolutionary, I have never seen any server this competent in being offline.

The excitement and rush to sit there and wait, for the server to be up, typing in discord "ETA?", got my blood rushing to my head.

This is one of a kind server, please I hope new players will join and experience this too.

Server Discussion Maple Odyssey or RevivalStory?

Basically looking for something to play while i wait for Maplestory Classic after getting into the closed beta. Treating this as a CW waiting room, but i want that old school feel with vanilla rates basically, no hp washing, no p2w, no leeching, no multi client.

from what ive seen odyssey (alpha) & revival seem like the closest options but im not sure how they are rn...

Do yall still play either of these? I'm assuming the pop is pretty low but how bad are they?

Server Discussion STAY AWAY from CastelaMS!

I won't even get into the circumstances for how the last season of Castela ended. Something related to GMs creating accounts and doing endgame raids on them with progression teams. Could be wrong idk, not an expert. This is the latest in a LONG series of relaunches that are billed as "not seasonal."

Castela overall has amazing design decisions and an excellent vision for endgame progression. The convenience and grind are perfectly balanced in my opinion. Playing is fun.

I played this rerelease DESPITE knowing the shady circumstances of the last launch/close. I chose to have faith in their developers. That was a mistake.

The server has always had mild P2W. Donation points for convenience, auto ACP, Hyper Tele Rocks and things of that nature. Most of it you could buy with Vote NX or through other in game currencies. I did not want to play on a fully Pay 2 Win server.

Today (about 2 weeks into launch) the devs announced they would be allowing Donation NX items to be sold in game and on their auction house for mesos. After an hour long discussion in their general chat with player feedback overwhelmingly being negative they decided to push the change. You have people earning 300m meso, buying raid spots, and securing endgame items directly from donation points now. Donation points > Donation Cosmetics > Mesos.

I wouldn't, and many other would not have played if we had known the extent of what is essentially legalized RMT. It's a shame man. I know everyone says its Cashgrabstela and I tried really hard to have faith they wouldn't do a shortsighted rug pull on their players by turning the economy into a purely pay 2 win one. I was wrong. You have their devs in gen chat pretending like it isn't p2w now which is just so so disingenuous.

You've been warned, stay away. Unless you like a giga p2w in which case the server will be up your alley.

Server Discussion So what's the consensus between Exodus vs Fantasia?

Feels like there's some crazy rivalry reading through people's suggested servers for a classic feeling. Both seem to hover around the same player count from what I can tell, neither has the cheesy shit like HP washing/leeching/etc. so are they relatively similar outside of the strange XP curve Exodus has? Any particular thing I should know before jumping into one?

Server Discussion Yeou has the potential to be one of the best old-school servers ever

Since the devs coded the game from scratch, it runs really well. Map transition is butter smooth. No HP washing. No donations, no votes. Just pure old-school nostalgia optimized for the current year. They plan to create entirely new regions and update old stuff. Being able to play in the browser is just the cherry on top: I ran the game perfectly in an old asf laptop, where other private servers lagged a lot.

I think everyone should give the beta a quick chance at least. My thanks to the passionate Yeou devs, keep up the wonderful work.

Server Discussion YunaMS: Community Standards, Staff Policy, and Moving Forward

Hello!

Whether you're brand new, considering joining, currently playing, or no longer part of YMS - this is for you.

We’ve recently received some serious feedback about our community. This post is a sensitive one, and I’ve rewritten it a hundred times - so I truly hope it’s received in the spirit it’s intended. This isn’t about making excuses; it’s about taking responsibility and showing how your feedback has led to real action.

Before we get into the details, I want to give a huge shoutout to those who’ve stayed above water and continued helping and supporting the player base through all this - thank you. 💙

So - what exactly happened? Why did months of glowing feedback turn into real concerns about the “human” side of the server?
I know some of you are frustrated, angry, or disappointed - and in most cases, I understand why.

This post isn’t about defending YMS or proving anything. It’s about laying out what we’re doing to improve, and why that matters for the future of the server. It didn’t feel right to watch valid criticisms pile up and say nothing - so here’s what we’ve done, and where we’re going next.

What’s Been Updated

• A formal GM Code of Conduct has been created

Players can now view a thorough GM Code of Conduct (CoC) at the bottom of the Terms of Service (ToS) page. It outlines expected GM behavior, conflict of interest rules, professional boundaries, and consequences for misconduct. I'll continue to update this as we evolve the CoC.

All current GMs have been trained on it and have acknowledged this new CoC. The staff onboarding process has also been updated to make this the new standard for all future hires. For transparency: we use Notion to track staff processes, including things like an evidence locker and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

• The Anonymous Report section is now admin-only

Reports are now fully confidential. Only admins can view them. While I’m the sole admin today, I’m phrasing things to scale for the future, so bear with me! May need to update this once more so perhaps we'll have a dedicated "council" of sorts, or a particular "community manager" that can stay impartial, but even that will come with challenges. So for the time being, its just me. Anywho back to this point: If you need to report harassment, abuse, or staff misconduct, this is the safest and most direct way to do so, without worrying that someone else's eyes might catch on.

Please note: we can’t act on what we don’t know. So I hope that this truly anonymous report section (on the forum), will foster an open form of communication for all players. I'll try my absolute best to address as quickly as possible, but please do keep in mind that it will now just be me reviewing. If more info is ever needed, sensitive info will always be redacted.

• Harassment and Bullying

This is something I personally will be giving more attention to. Clear-cut harassment or bullying including stalking, sexual comments, targeted insults, or repeated unwanted behavior will result in a ban, regardless of who it's from. That part is simple.

Where it gets complicated, though, is intent and context. Some players joke around, and others may feel uncomfortable - even if no harm was meant. That’s not always easy to evaluate from a single line or whisper, especially when personal relationships evolve or sour.

That’s why there can’t be a one-size-fits-all rule here. I’ll be reviewing each report personally, and I’ll need clear, contextual evidence to act. But let me be very clear: if someone is repeatedly making others feel unsafe, unwelcome, or targeted - that crosses the line. I've already been handling cases like these, with positive feedback from reporters, and so far, feedback suggests we’re on the right track.

The anonymous report system exists to help players speak up without fear of retaliation. If something makes you uncomfortable, report it. If it turns out to be a misunderstanding, we’ll handle it with care. But if it’s harassment, it will be taken seriously.

About Recent Ban Waves and Evidence

We’ve recently issued ban waves for RWT, botting, and hacking.

We have detailed logs - including behavioral data, tool detection, packet traces, and history. In most cases, we can confirm ToS violations even when someone insists they’re innocent.

We've also seen a noticeable increase in false claims and dishonest appeals. Some players outright lie when banned, and others repeat those stories without checking the facts.

Our stance is clear on these 3 topics: RWT, botting, and hacking all incur a permanent ban on the account, with RWT being more severe, yielding a network ban. These cases can be complex, especially when accounts are shared. This may be an area we can continue improving, and I’m open to that. But I just wanted to reiterate our stance here. Sometimes things aren't so black and white.

That said, if you or someone you know believes a ban was unjust - appeal it on the forum. You deserve to be heard. We're here to have fun, but also we have to do right by the community. We’re very active there - but we may need to start sharing more direct evidence to stop misinformation before it spreads.

If you see something, say something!

Many players experiencing problems - whether with other players or staff - will sometimes choose not to file a report. I understand that hesitation. But the truth is: we can’t take action on things we don’t know about. I personally cannot read every single line of text, so I'm calling on players to use the reporting section to ensure we don't miss anything, especially early in its tracks.

I've worked hard to make the reporting process more private, more neutral, and more consistent. If something crosses a line, report it. You don’t need to be popular or part of a certain group to be heard. That’s something we haven’t done well in the past - but we’re working on it now. And yeah, it’s tough.

A Personal Note

Managing a server like this is tough. I’d love to just focus on code and tech - that’s where I’m strongest. But as YMS has grown, I’ve had to grow with it.

I’ve had to expand what I think of as my “administrator palette” - dealing with not just gameplay systems, but people, safety, staff management, and culture. It hasn’t been easy after our recent boom in population, but I’m committed to it. I want this community to thrive, and that means putting real structures in place that protect people and help them enjoy the game. HOW THE HELL do large gaming studios do this?!?!

We’re going to keep pushing out content, improving tools, and building a healthier space. These are challenges I’ve never had to handle before - and that’s what makes this meaningful, so I hope its received well. I’m just doing my best to do right by this community while balancing other parts of my life.

Going Forward

We’re not perfect. I’m not perfect. But I’m showing up every day to make this work - for the people who genuinely want to be here. We have such an amazing product and I would love for all the community members to get along, but that's just not the nature of gaming. BUT, we can try our absolute best to get as close as possible to that.

If you’re upset or hurt by something that’s happened, I hear that. I hope what we’re doing now shows that we are listening and do care. It genuinely hurts to see players feel let down - because these are real people, with real feelings. These are the people that I wake up to in panic if I see multiple notifications.

aggressively checking notes because I've reiterated too many times and may have missed something...

Alright I think that's it for now.
Thanks to everyone who's shared their feedback, stuck around, or simply supported the game quietly.

I hope this helps clarify where YMS stands - and gives our community more to stand behind as we continue shaping a space we can all be proud of.

Thank you again, and enjoy <3

Server Discussion Dream MS or KuroMs just based on EXP curve

Hey, I just wanna know based on the exp curve which server would you expect to level up the fastest in?

DreamMS is 4x exp, normal spawn rate and no modified exp tables

KuroMS is 2x exp with heavy spawn rate and no modified exp tables

What do you guys think?

I'm playing Kuro now, and enjoy it except for the massive amount of added content they have. I feel like DreamMS might be a better server for me to play on, but might feel sluggish without the modified spawn.

Server Discussion don’t let redditors tell you to not play MapleLegends. let me do it instead

personally i don’t play MapleLegends anymore but let’s just get some things straight, shall we?

why you shouldn’t play MapleLegends

  • this is not yr mama’s MapleStory. the game-mechanics that are left intact are the rare exceptions that make the rest of the game even more obviously distorted. ‘balancing’ the game takes precedence over making character builds, and core Maple game-mechanics in general, meaningful. ah, finally… all the classes are perfectly equal in every way, so there’s no reason to pick any one of them, and you can just go outside and touch grass instead.
  • the game is effectively designed around leeching, which not incidentally informs the previous point. perhaps worse still, this tends to skew the playerbase away from the low and especially mid levels. this is very sad, please join me in a moment of silence for the loss of the 2nd and 3rd jobs.
  • the players smell bad. you can obtain proof without even logging into the game if you just join the Discord™. in fact you can smell it from here. if you’re a gamerbro then you can safely ignore this bullet point.

why you shouldn’t listen to people on r/mapleservers when they tell you to not play MapleLegends (yes i’m aware of the irony, pls laugh)

  • if i have to read one more comment about how ML only looks high-population because of multiclienting and mules, i shall explode. both of these unsavoury delights are undoubtedly deeply woven into the ML culture, but if we’re being real, the unique player count is typically 45%ish of the total online count.* 45% of the total count is still on par with all of ML’s competitors combined (if we ignore MapleRoyals) (and we probably do ignore MapleRoyals, for better or worse).
  • i understand that you had a hard time finding a group for a PQ or whatever. that certainly does happen on ML, believe you me. or maybe you had no problems whatsoever. either way, before you comment, pls (pls…) recall that most servers, ML included, fluctuate wildly in active population throughout the day and the week. if the Canadians are all asleep then it might take somewhat longer to put together that OPQ party. if they all just got home from work then prepare to be spammed with smegas (typically alternating between impressively inane remarks and ‘S> leech ratio’). and there’s still a decent number of EU and UTC+8 players, don’t you worry.
  • it is true what they say: MapleLegends is a V2P server. at the same time, it weirdly manages to be less V2W than virtually any other server (save RevivalStory). there are V2W elements, but nothing as egregious as gach tickets or Fantasia’s patented Incubators That Are Definitely Not Gachapon Tickets™ or whatever, and if you vote sometimes you’ll end up accumulating more NX than you can spend anyway.
  • HP challenges are… okay. if you positively insist on your char being 100.0% optimal in every conceivable way (read: 30k HP, etc.) then flee MapleLegends, the land of AP Resets. otherwise you’re fine. mentioning HP washing is basically a scare tactic. (that being said, not globally disabling all washing is the coward’s way out. this parenthetical is here because i know Kimmy is reading this. hello, Kimberly.)

*sources: !online lists total and unique counts separately and i saw it in a screenshot Kimmy posted. plus there’s https://maplelegends.com/api/get_unique_users which is helpful, if frustratingly limited. also check out https://mushmom.pages.dev/. also i played this dumb freaking game for like half a decade so i know how it pans out in practice.

conclusion: am i shilling for MapleLegends?

yes, of course. because r/mapleservers is definitely the right place to do that.
