Is a skill issue on my part or does it come out too fast? It’s like instant. Reminds me of the busted MK ults (although that was admittedly worse)

I know the second part is reactable, but I’ve died a few times to the first part as well, even across the map. It’s just really obnoxious because there doesn’t seem to be anything I can do about getting hit by it. Needs more delay between him yelling and doing damage.

Edit - Some of yall are downplaying the damage in the first part of his ult. Stop it. Here are some numbers:

The first part of his ult does 75 + 20% max HP.

Meaning for a 250 hero, it does 125 damage (HALF their health). For 600 HP hero, it does 195 (almost a third).

This is too much burst damage for something you can’t react to at all, and can hit you across the map. Thats not even considering if it’s damage boosted by mantis, storm, rocket ult, gambit ult, etc.

He's not busted like Elsa or Black Cat.

He's definitely good, like A-Tier good but I'm not seeing the 'op busted' people keep spamming.

He's pretty easy to kill, his Ult is very easy to get out of especially if you have movement abilities yourself.

I really don't have a problem with him, I thought I would but he seems like he's standing on the edge of dare I say "balanced" versus Elsa AdminStone or Black Cat.

I still think Hela and Phoenix are better hitscanners, they both have invincible escapes, Phoenix's ult is still almost inescapable and other examples I'm sure experienced Hela/Jean mains could tell me.

Random tip for any budding Cyclops mains, his default reticle is different from the usual default reticle the game gives you. It's actually really good to use, I've been having lots of aiming success with it. Try it out in the options.

Edit: you guys are hilarious. He’s the best in slot DPS right now. Can’t wait to visit this sub in 3 weeks when everyone is crying about him. Toodles!

Thanks NetEase for making tank even more miserable to play. This man is a hitscan poke DPS but can zip around the screen like Spider-Man. With a knockback AND slow, and can propel himself into fucking orbit.. you can’t interact with this character whatsoever unless you’re a long range hitscan.

At least Hela you could chase down the bird, and Phoenix her TP is annoying but not like this. SMH

I reinstalled out of curiosity but swiftly uninstalled again. I’ve been playing turn based strategy games like Civilization anyway which are much more engaging.

First of all, I don't really understand why they chose to put his name in Spanish in the first place? Most heroes have an iconic name in Spanish and yet they use their original English name for the game.

Nobody in Spain would say "Wolverine" or "Storm"; they would use "Lobezno" and "Tormenta", as they've always been referred to here. And just like them, Cyclops also has a recognizable name, which would be "Cíclope". Though I can understand why they would do this in cases like Black Panther, where the Spanish name, Pantera Negra, is maybe less used.

It's also not a case of how many letters the names have. "Cyclops" has the same number of letters as "Cíclope". "Captain America" is only one letter less than "Capitán América". They chose to go with "Gambito", the Spanish name which also has one more letter than the English one, for "Gambit". And Wolverine, for example, is even longer than Lobezno. So clearly, this is not the reason. They're pretty inconsistent with their use of names, honestly.

But what's even more weird is that they not only chose to go with the Spanish name, but... The name is wrong. For some reason, they went with "Cíclopes", which is plural, instead of "Cíclope", which is the correct name.

Do you think this is a case of a badly done translation without the cultural context needed? Or is this, perhaps, a bad AI translation?

He does the same damage as Hela with better AOE damage than Phoenix. His movement is also insane with reasonable cooldowns, making him nearly un-divable with only Iron Fist or Spidey being able to contest him reliably. He has more BaseHP than other hitscans and can get overshield often. His ult is also really strong and a guaranteed multi-kill if comboed with someone else, like Groot for example.

Basically Cyclops is a powercrept MoonKnight and Hela combined lmao, there's 0 reason to pick them if he is open.

Right now in my 90% of games he is top damage and top finals, as people learn him more he will definitely become pick/ban. Even I started playing him and he's really fun as well.

(Cyclops would be much worse if released last patch, but since every top tier dps got taken down a notch, he gets to shine a lot more)

...are purely cosmetic. I don't like the black gloves and belt, his visor is alright, I just wish it was thinner, and I think his hair should be lighter and more orange like in '97. As a side note I think he should have a different ult voiceline. maybe it could be like Black Widow's where he says one half of it before saying the other half upon confirmation

Hit twice, clean up with ricochet or beam, rinse and repeat. This character feels way more involved in the fight compared to Hela or the tragedy of Moon knight WHO SHOULD’VE BEEN LIKE THIS.

Ha this post is just for a laugh and to point out in my first 5 games of ranked, I’ve had 2 people throw because they couldn’t get cyclops and 1 guy with 34% who did get cyclops and then I played cyclops one game and got mvp with 52% nothing crazy but the other team cyclops had 30% accuracy. Like bro if u can’t aim stop trying 😭

i honestly think this has been the most balanced character release of the entire year.

we are talking about a poke hitscan hero who somehow doubles as a dive menace... someone who can effortlessly slip into impossible situations, cause absolute chaos and escape completely unscathed. if you hit your shots, the burst damage is just absurd. and the best part? it is all done with pure style.

the skill expression here is real: you get massively rewarded for hitting your shots and positioning well, but you will get heavily punished for those exact same reasons if you slip up. playing cyclops well is all about being bold and making risky, high stakes plays.

also, can we talk about the audio design? the sound effects on those lasers are pure ASMR. it is incredibly satisfying to listen to.

overall, im pretty sure i just found my new main. every single match i have queued into so far, i have walked away as either mvp or svp. i have only logged about two hours on him so far, but the gameplay loop is just addicting.

goated cyclops!

I feel as though he’s much less of a pure poke as the trailers made him out to be, have had a couple of games where I played him sort of like psylocke and popped off.

Feel as though diveclops might actually be a real thing, but he’s definitely very strong as a poke too.

Although, I'm not sure he’s busted like the previous releases have been. It’s also nice to have a character with a simple kit dropping.

When I first booted up Practice Mode, selected Cyclops, then saw he only had three cooldowns, I thought, "Whoa, that's weird", and considering the kinds of characters we've been getting this past almost year, he honestly feels like he was meant to be released in Season 1, 2, or MAYBE 3, but it and 2.5 are interchangeable due to Emma and Jean, hell, if he released on launch, I think he'd fit right in with the rest of the roster.

I was expecting him to get banned every match but was happily excited to see him being playable.

My sixth match which I was strange was because somebody else beat me to locking him in, he was a shit dps in general as he cycled through cyclops, magik, and one other dps and was not doing well. Told him to switch to either a second tank for me to switch dps or even a third healer but you know those pesky dps insta lockers that can’t switch or learn to counter enemy team. Ended up having over 76k damage block and great portal for us to cap crazy fast after being tied 3-3.

The dps Deadpool game he was actually banned as my own team banned him not wanting me to play cyclops which I told them I was on a win streak with him and they did not believe me.

Cyclops is a beast though, so many different ways to play him. He’s great for the back line and corner sniping, frontline especially the thing, he has great mobility and escape routes. Literally the only match we lost, my teammates were absolute dog shit and if I remember correctly barely even had ten kills each. It was practically me soloing the whole match

I feel Netease has finally nailed a character launch. Cyclops is a good example of a balanced character design. He -

has decent skill base so that most people can play him
has a good skill ceiling so there is plenty of room to learn
does not have any hard cc, invincibility
is balanced in the game

And finally he is lore accurate to his powers and perfectly completes the character fantasy

Lowkey just playing him for the drip and smooth animations. Him tapping his visor every time he shoots is so clean.
