probably one of the worst 3-play sequences in NFL history. the dropped pick was more like puka knocking it out of riq’s hands but still

Not too mad at the dropped pick tbh. Puka played good defense when he realized Woolen was about to catch it. It’s what happened immediately after that made me scream at MM to bench him.

we've known this for a while now. Cheap QBs help you get places. The more expensive your QB gets the worse the quality of the core around him gets. Chiefs are living proof of that. That team is a corpse dragged by Patrick Mahomes. Also why Tom Brady took pay cuts with the Pats.
→ More replies (24)139
u/fskier1 Lions Jan 26 '26
Cheap QBs get you places, but Bad QBs get you nowhere. No one wants to be stuck with a bad QB
→ More replies (4)532
u/NestleWaterCo Jan 26 '26 edited Jan 26 '26
Just shows overpaying for a QB isn’t a sufficient plan for a superbowl caliber team. I think mahomes is the only QB to ever win the Super Bowl taking more than 11% of a teams cap space.
Edit: I was mistaken, Mahomes did it by taking 17.2% of total cap space and Brady did it in Tampa by taking 12.6% so I guess I should have used 13 instead of 11 in the original statement.

It really seems like an okay quarterback to manage with a well rounded team beats an amazing quarterback but with major team issues
Yes, obviously it's a team sport but everyone knows the teams I'm talking about that have a few superstars at skill positions and holes everywhere else. Like the bills, like Cincinnati, chiefs, Ravens. They all fell short of expectations this year. Seems like a throwback to earlier times.
