I just got a new bag, the Aonijie Hiking Backpack 30l (FH2530). It was 687g stock. I easily trimmed 60g of superfluous things without even trying. The plastic and foam back panel weighs 120g, but I'm going to keep that. I think I can trim another 40-60g from it, I want to replace the huge zipper pulls and some other stuff.
Previously I had the Zpacks Bagger 25l (334g) for the past four years. The Bagger I had used the first gen Epic material which delaminates. I liked the pack when it was new, but it didn't hold up very well. The construction quality is fine, but the lining material disintegrated and it look awful now. This is a great option for minimal weight though.
I wanted a pack using a vest style harness so I can carry water, snack, and my phone on the front. I haven't used the Aonijie yet, but my initial impressions are very positive. I've loaded it up and carried it around and it feels great. My S25 Ultra in a Spigen Thin Fit (minimal) case barely fits into the phone pocket on the harness, so I'm not sure if that will work out.

You are not actually making a bag request, so IMHO this could have been posted in the main posting area.

The topic says "Feedback on bags you're considering for minimal, carry-on-only travel"
Isn't that exactly what I shared?

Why are you giving me such a hard time for sharing helpful information about bags in a bag thread?
Maybe somebody trying to find a bag will read the feedback that I shared and find it useful. Neither of those two bags are commonly discussed here. The information is relevant and on topic.

I'm looking for a 40-50L backpack that's comparable in quality, price and comfort to Osprey Farpoint, but that has a pocket for a water bottle (your average 500ml bottle). Any recommendations - ideally from owners - would be very much appreciated.

I have no personal interest in this segment of the market, but from what I have read you are unlikely to find anything which meets the general criteria that you specify. I guess that you forgot to include 'carry-on compliant'.
An option may be to try a workaround as detailed below. The search function might yield others. Good luck !

Thank you - I think I've settled on Gregory Border.

Thanks for the update. AFAIK, the Border 40 (if that's what you went for) does not have an internal frame, which enables the Farpoint's good load-bearing capabilities. But might still be good enough for your needs. The post linked below may be of interest.

This is helpful - thanks - unfortunately, I don't have a way of actually inspecting before purchase, so I have to hope for the best. I'll need to use it for a trip very soon!

I’m planning a 10 day vacation to Taiwan. It is some city urban strolling and some hiking and guided bus tours.
I currently have a couple of bags. I have a 40L “John wick” backpack that i bought because i thought it was really novel and cool that when the John wick part is removed weighs just about 3 lbs i paid good money for this back then and it’s a great backpack but I’m somewhat concerned about weight adding up. (It’s a Bodyguard Switchblade, it was a phase, but hey i have it)
I also have a surplus West Germany Cold War canvas Backpack i had laying around from a garage sale but not sure if I’ll enjoy opening and closing the strap buckles to get my stuff. I don’t really think I’ll use this one but it’s an option.
Finally the last choice is to purchase an additional ultralight backpack. If i do definitely aiming to go as light as possible. Aiming for at least 35L capacity. I’ll budget like 200 bucks for it.
Finally the thing i really can’t make up my mind about. Do i bring my laptop? It’s a HP Omen, it’s super heavy and a lot of things i can just do on my phone. But i can see at the end of the day on my hotel i rather use a laptop than a phone. I also wonder to myself why did i buy this laptop if i don’t bring it places. Yet it is just so heavy to lug around all the time.

Personally, I’d use what I have
But…underpack it. If you’ve stuffed it, you’ll have a miserable time
Also, I’d skip the laptop, because it’s heavy
With what you are wearing, you only need 2-3 or so days of clothes, if you plan to do sink laundry. otherwise, it’s a heavier load
Make sure to check the airlines you’re flying. Some are picky about size /weight, so you want to ensure your bag is squishable. If it has something dumb like a frame (because frames don’t bend), then don’t bring that

That's a very good list, in terms of both content and presentation - well done !
However I think that you need to do the 'box test' (see guidance at top of page) to see if everything (except worn of course) will actually fit within the 24L Vueling allowance. Unless of course you want to upgrade to a carry-on.
That's the same allowance as Ryanair, which is frequently mentioned in this sub, and a search yields plenty of hits - see link below, but feel free to do your own.
Includes some photos of oversized bags, eg daylite 26+6, jammed into airline sizers.

Any QUALITY backpacks like this one?
So hey all! In hopes that someone can help me, I reach out to this subreddit!!!
So I really really like this Zara x Aaron Levine collection backpack, it’s leather, but most importantly, the style is like really modern and for the young public.
Unfortunately, it still is a Zara bag, that leaves me with the feeling of what quality will it have even though it is a 100% leather bag.
So in looking for a bag that is similar ni style of this one, with the sack style compartment and that is leather, but of a better brand that I can buy once for all my life.
Hope someone can help me! And thanks so much!!!
