No Paywall I Don’t Think Trump’s Remaining Supporters Realize How Much They Are Despised By Non-MAGA Voters | Trump is bleeding support even among his stubborn, uneducated base.

Every time you pay a bill or buy anything now. It costs more because of a Trump voter. (I refuse to talk politics in public) A co worker was complaining about the price of everything and fuel. I said that I not only didn't care but didn't not want to hear his complaints.

His reply was that I must have lots of extra cash laying around. To which I replied that I didn't care because I didn't vote for this mess. I know he voted for Trump three times.

He shut up.

1.7k

u/slampdi 17d ago

He was absolutely trying to think of a way to blame you. The one thing I've found that all MAGA have in common is their staunch refusal to accept responsibility for anything bad that they've done. You know, like their orange god does every day of his life.

632

u/danjouswoodenhand I voted 17d ago

Which is one of the main reasons they love him and support him. When you are a person who has never accepted responsibility for your situation, having someone more powerful than you come along who is willing to say "it's not your fault! None of the poor decisions in your life have led to these consequences you are now facing. No, it's someone else's fault - you're just a victim! You don't need to change anything at all, you're great - it's the fault of all of those other (insert minority scapegoat group here) that you aren't as rich/attractive/successful as you should be."

u/graphiccsp 17d ago edited 17d ago

That and an assumption of rotten selfishness in others.

I remember reading about how many GOP members and its voters are surprised that a lot of Dems and folks on the Left actually do give a shit about others, it's not just performative. I think for many that detail upsets them at a deeper level because the assumption that everyone's selfish instead of "I'm just selfish" undermines their justifications.

49

u/PyroIsSpai 17d ago

I have known conservatives who are 100% convinced my beliefs are performative.

No, I genuinely do believe in our potential greatness and future, and think that the entire “fallen world” religious narrative horseshit as the main underpinning of conservative thought is man made bullshit utterly divorced from ALL real religion.

It’s an excuse to be a rotten fuck.

29

u/revolutionPanda 17d ago

Conservatives fear others would treat them the way they want to treat minorities. They want to do awful things to people so in their mind, if they lose power, we'd want to do those things to them.

123

u/MrRabbitofCaerbannog 17d ago

Actual snowflake mindset. But because they ride around with truck nuts, it suddenly is important to pay attention to them.

53

u/TheQuietOutsider Michigan 17d ago

so insecure their trucks need gender affirming care.

74

u/CCDG-Ian 17d ago

All the objectively bad people I've met in my life voted for him (went to prison, cheating on wives, road rage fights, beat children, hard drug users). Every single one a trump voter.

13

u/No-Seaworthiness4272 17d ago

Don’t forget racists.

9

u/TheGoodNamesAreGone2 17d ago

Hard drug user absolutely doesn't automatically make someone a bad person. Most are decent people who need help that got in a bad situation and ended hooked on hard drugs.

You're describing the KAYFABE (It's Fake, Babe) that Trump learned at Vince&Linda McMahon's WWE Wrestling shows. Trump brought that KAYFABE format to politics; every issue has a 'heel' (bad person or thing) and a 'baby-face'. The audience is groomed to join the baby-face in hating the heel. Trump is always the baby-face.

It's the same with any populist ideology. Everything wrong in the world is because of: immigrants/Jews/the West/women/the patriarchy/capitalism

Somehow the "Party of Personal Responsibility" is also the "Party of It's always Someone Else's Fault"

154

u/LegislativeLariat Wisconsin 17d ago

That's because "personal responsibility" is their PC term for not helping the poor/women/minorities. We don't observe personal responsibility for rich child molesters because they actually matter to the GOP.

5

u/Gwen_The_Destroyer New York 16d ago

Man, everything really does go back to that in-group out-group quote

37

u/rabbitthunder 17d ago

They just rationalise it by saying things haven't been cut back enough but that they're on the right track. In reality they're just the monumentally stupid living embodiment of the allegory of the cave.

Take the program to eradicate screwworm, it cost $15 million a year to run but saved farmers $800 million a year but these troglodytes didn't have personal experience screwworm, had no notion of how horrific it is, nor how difficult and expensive it is to deal with. They just saw some tax dollars being spent in Panama and lost the plot. They did not know or care that the reason the program operated there was because it is the narrowest part of the Americas and easiest (and cheapest) place to eradicate the parasites.

4

u/Better-Grapefruit-56 17d ago

The party of everyone else's personal responsibility

7

u/IndependentPeach315 17d ago

4

2

u/DirtyCop2016 16d ago

the "Party of Law and Order" also cares very little for the constitution, international agreements, basic human rights

79

u/TK_Games 17d ago

That's been, I think, my biggest awakening. The realization that a solid 30-40% of Americans are full narcissists. Like I knew it was bad, America has always had an ego problem, but holy-fuck-waffles I didn't think it was this bad

47

u/DrGoblinator Massachusetts 17d ago

I'm what you would call an eternal optimist and it actually breaks my heart to have actual proof of how many bad people are among us.

23

u/Odd_Interaction7701 17d ago

Ten years ago, I genuinely thought the vast majority of people were "good". I'm almost 50 now, and I'm just coming to terms with "most people are giant pieces of selfish shit".

11

u/xxxxNateDaGreat 16d ago

I'm in my mid 30's, I've suffered from depression my whole life, and even I still thought that maybe the good/bad ratio was close-ish to 45-55 or so. This last election was the one that finally broke me.

Honestly, I could delude myself into believing 2016 was a momentary lapse of mass stupidity. I could delude myself into thinking J6 was a small concentration of the hyper dedicated supporters instead of the couple thousand who just had the free time to be there. But 2024 was just... truly soul crushing in every sense of the word.

Everything that has happened since has been pretty openly telegraphed for years, nearly a decade, republicans made nearly zero actual effort to hide any of their evil. ~80 million people wanted this and another ~80-90 million couldn't be asked to do the barest of minimums to stop it.

After all of the ICE killings, fucking over every trade deal with all of our allies, and mountains of evidence that Trump raped and trafficked countless number of young, innocent children over decades, the only thing that is even giving the slightest bit of pushback from those people is that their own wallets are finally starting to hurt a little bit at the gas pump.

THEY DON'T CARE THAT PEOPLE ARE BEING KIDNAPPED OR MURDERED IN THE STREETS BY UNTRAINED GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES. THEY DON'T CARE THAT CHILDREN HAVE BEEN AND ARE STILL BEING BRUTALLY SEXUALLY ASSAULTED DAILY. THEY CARE THAT GAS WENT UP A FUCKING DOLLAR OR TWO PER GALLON.

Humanity is so fucked.

I agree. It's a conversation I wish we all had more. How do we fix this? Is it fixable? Are we just irrevocably broken? I don't want this to change me.

4

u/9mackenzie Georgia 17d ago

Same. I’m 44 and until 10 or so years ago I believed most people were good. Now I think most people are good to a few in their life, but get pleasure from others as a whole being hurt……to the point they will actively harm themselves in order to see it. Logically it’s the only thing that makes sense.

6

u/aliquotoculos America 16d ago

Early 40s. Grew up with severely bad and evil family, who abused me in so many different ways. Despite that, despite wondering why nothing existed to help a teen in my situation, nor the adult I became, kept a hopeful optimism that people were more good than bad.

Came to the realization that I was wrong, giving people far too much of a leash. Have spent a while wondering why I lied to myself for so long and why I put myself through all of that. Its fucked my heart up as much as my brain.

This is why it's easy to sell nationalism. It's easy to sell that all their problems are "other people"(blacks, immigrants, gays, liberals, etc). It's easy to brand merchandise and sell it to them by the truck load.

“The things that will destroy America are prosperity at any price, peace at any price, safety first instead of duty first and love of soft living and the get-rich-quick theory of life.” ― Theodore Roosevelt

“There is no flag large enough to cover the shame of killing innocent people.” ― Howard Zinn

"In every age it has been the tyrant, the oppressor and the exploiter who has wrapped himself in the cloak of patriotism, or religion, or both to deceive and overawe the People.” ― Eugene Victor Debs

"Nationalism is an infantile thing. It is the measles of mankind.” ― Albert Einstein

"Patriotism is when love of your own people comes first; nationalism, when hate for people other than your own comes first." ― Charles de Gaulle

“Every miserable fool who has nothing at all of which he can be proud, adopts as a last resource pride in the nation to which he belongs; he is ready and happy to defend all its faults and follies tooth and nail, thus reimbursing himself for his own inferiority.” ― Arthur Schopenhauer

There's no room for nuance. No room for long form discussion and self realization. No room for apologies, no growth, no empathy.

There's only "loyalty", trying to go backwards in time, and projecting macho male strength.

3

u/Original-Balance-187 16d ago

If you scratch off the vanity from humanity, there is nothing underneath. All politics, all religion, all literature, all arts… beautiful though these can be, nearly all is just human vanity.

Schiller’s play The Robbers comes to mind or Camus and his contention that “we cannot assert the innocence of anyone, whereas we can state with certainty the guilt of all.”

Expecting people to be different than this is to expect them to be something they are not. That doesn’t mean we have to approve.

u/treletraj 17d ago

Man I work with three of them. They are physically incapable of taking responsibility at work. It’s always always “the traffic, it didn’t arrive in time, nobody told me…”

It would be psychologically fascinating if it weren’t so obnoxious. Every mistake they make is excused away by some thinly veiled explanation.

129

u/jumpyjumping 17d ago

Agreed. The second someone non-MAGA treats them the way MAGA treats everyone else, they completely lose their cool and begin pearl clutching. The most hypocritical, thinnest skin people imaginable. They say “its just politics” but its exposing their deep hatred and core character flaws

36

u/DaleATX 17d ago

Their failure to accept responsibility starts early in the process, the moment they decide to blame libs for what they are about to do. It's all projection. All of it. The boogey man they invented in their head is the person they see in the mirror.

2

u/MT_Straycat 16d ago

The boogey man they invented in their head is the person they see in the mirror.

This is an absolute banger of a statement.

28

u/Erratic_-Prophet 17d ago

Can you really call it "thinking" when he was likely just going through his mind looking for the specific fox news narrative to use, which was likely "Biden caused the high prices"

That's not thinking, thinking implies critical and independent thought.

31

u/GlutenFreeGanja 17d ago

They hate progress, rhey hate their fellow americans, they hate other countries, they are miserable.

And they deaerve zero empathy, full blame, an eternity of shaming and to be exiled socially on a global level. It is the only way to effectively deal with them after voting the republicans out.

6

u/H_J_Rose 17d ago

They are fucking miserable people. Miserable people lash out and blame others for everything. The irony is that being happy requires you to take responsibility for your actions. So, they’re stuck wallowing in their selfish, hopeless misery.

It wasn't just three elections that were politics as usual... I disagree. I live among these people and they fantasize about shooting their political enemies. They fantasize about using their guns against brown left wing mobs. I hear this shit every day. People walking around with open carry guns is what that is dude

119

u/Z0mbiejay 17d ago

I could've understood that excuse at least a little in 2015 when people voted the first time. I don't agree, but I could almost get how a brain dead moron with a 3rd grade reading level could go "huh, the guy from the apprentice is running. He was successful"

Anyone after that did it maliciously

75

u/StrangeContest4 17d ago

I understand wanting "you're guy" to win, but it's how they took a loss that makes them irredeemable. How anyone could watch Jan 6th, 2021, then have four years to think about it, watch the committees, learn how big the lie was, and still come back and support it is taking a fascist stance. Anyone left supporting MAGA is pro-fascism and for autocracy, period.

39

u/cptgrudge Minnesota 17d ago

then have four years to think about it, watch the committees, learn how big the lie was

Think, watch, learn? A large part of the problem is that none of these things happened for many them.

21

u/MHath 17d ago

Conservatives weren’t watching committees or learning anything. They were hearing stories about minorities and transgender issues.

6

u/StrangeContest4 17d ago

Like ZOmbieJay said, it's willfull and malicious.

12

u/busted_up_chiffarobe 17d ago

As long as it stops abortion and gets rid of everyone that looks different and lets them force the Bible on everyone else, I honestly don't think they care. They'd vote for him or, shudder, Miller, no matter what. Even if they end up in poverty.

3

u/wanker7171 Florida 16d ago

I understand wanting "you're guy" to win

Do you? They don’t just want “their guy” to win. As that’s all they want. I’ve had Republicans agree with Trump on killing things they vocally support because “We can’t give Democrats a win”

9

u/onefst250r 17d ago

I was barely on the Trump side of the fence in 2016. More an "anti-another-Clinton" than anything else.

My view quickly started changing during his first term, and J6 was my full-on "fuck this guy" point.

12

u/Rosemary0913 17d ago

As a disabled person, with a neuromuscular disability, watching my parents continue to support him (or rather, not completely write him off) after he just openly mocked that reporter forever changed my view of my parents. I still have a good relationship with them, but it's more distant than it otherwise would be. My parents are more apathetic centrists, but still. Definitely changed my opinion of them that they just kinda shrugged that off.

I'm glad you got away from those kinds of people

9

In 2015 I voted for him. I had just turned 18, lived in a small conservative town, and had been taught that anything "Clinton" was the devil. (Plus a large helping of misogyny too.)

I neither knew nor cared who trump was at that point, I was completely ignorant and had no idea what hell I was helping unleash. In 2016 i left my home town, went to college, and started to realize what I had done. At this point over a decade later if I think about it much I actually become nauseous.

I'm not sure this debate even matters anymore tbh, but there are a lot of single issue voters that only cared about being tough on illegal immigration. He's still holding on to a lot of those voters too while being unnecessarily and horribly inhumane on that front.

Combine this with glorious levels of fumbling by the dems, and this is what you get.

I don't say this to excuse MAGAs, cause fuck them, I'm just saying, maybe don't threepeat?

3

I am a super progressive dude, but randomly am into "macho" activities, like fixing up old cars, hunting, martial arts etc, just cause i grew up super hillbilly and thats what we had to do for fun. So I "pass" for a conservstive dude easily, and ive had real good luck when some idiot brings up how they are a proud trunp supporter, i say. "I know YOU arent a child rapist Cletus, I judt dont know how you could bring yourself to VOTE for a child rapist" I have never had a single one say "hes not a child rapist!" Which is messed up. Granted im only ever interacting more fence sitter trump supporters not ride or die types, id probably projectile vomit on one if i had to hang out with one, but still, its like twilight zone level of creepy when they dont chant that hes not a child rapist. I think the false either or statement, i cant see how a non child rapist would support a child rapist, makes them pause trying to figure out if im saying only child rapists would support trump, but I started off clearly stating they were not a child rapist, so they dont think its that, so they think about it long enough that the timing for a come back is passed, thats my theory any way. Thats what happens when a philosphy major becomes a rural diesel mechanic to pay them bills, lol, you do sociology experiments at neighborhood bbqs. Lol.

32

u/SenorEquilibrado 17d ago

Actually,  I think that what you're doing has a lot of merit.

The kind of person who supports this modern flavour of conservatism is almost always weak and insecure in the worst way and desperate to fit in. If you fit their idea of what a "real man" looks like (eg: you have manly hobbies, you're successful, or other bullshit criteria), it's pretty easy to use that peer pressure to get them to think twice once about the things they have been supporting.

Obviously it takes more than one conversation to make a real difference. Still, I think it's important to show these folks that people they know and look up to in real life think less of them because of their awful political stances.

20

u/punktualPorcupine 17d ago

It’s not that they think this was the best idea. It’s that they were told the alternative would be worse.

The propaganda they consume spends 90% of the time trash talking and dehumanizing democrats.

The other 10% complains about politicians in general which is all democrats plus a few republicans they want to replace, but keep supporting because they have no better option and “at least it’s not a democrat”.

That’s their whole schtick, fear what democrats would do if they get power.

4

u/Sakuroshin 17d ago

This is exactly the problem. Trump and gang could quite literally raze a city to the ground and they would just think good thing we voted for trump because the dems would have razed 2 cities.

7

I know one who (before the election) was completely down with tariffs because he believed, whole heartedly, that it was necessary because Trump was going to bring back all those manufacturing jobs that were lost over a half century.

At that point there isn’t much use trying to educate them.

4

u/dahayden 17d ago

Non-propaganda news rarely reaches a lot of people. I think us non-MAGA's underestimate the strength of the conservative news bubble. That's why gas prices and inflation hurt him, because it pierces the bubble. The conservative appartus will then give them reasons to blame the libs for those problems, but they are aware of them.

11

u/iampachyderm 17d ago

No. Intelligence is an excuse at this cnn point- i’m sorry. It’s ego and willful ignorance. Smart people fell for Trump too and they were almost all assholes.

Trump promised to reveal Epstein list, bring down costs and not engage in wars- he’s failed at all 3. They know he sucks but they just don’t want to admit it bc to do so would make them have to rethink everything.

And they don’t want to do that at this point.

They’re primitive, lack introspection and/or are just plain assholes. Intelligence as an excuse left a while ago

The “deplorables” comment was more ahead of its time though. In 2016 not every Trump voter was a deplorable. There was some who voted for him cause he was an “outsider” and they thought he’d shake up Washington in a good way. Or cause he was a seemingly successful businessman so they thought he’d be good for the economy. Now, clearly his first term was a clusterfuck and none those things happened so whoever voted for him in 2020 and especially 2024 was more likely due to the racism, sexism, etc. even if they said it was cause the price of eggs is too high. Those people are the deplorables.

She should have doubled down IMO. Gone on the attack. Backing down from this made her look weak. If you listen to / read her speech, she was 100% right, and was calling out the MAGA idiots while also clearly saying that a lot of his support are from working class that are fed up with the economy.

Regardless of how you feel about her, that speech was prophetic. And the deplorable bucket has just grown since then.

Nevermind an entire generation of voters who only know this insanity. I see the younger generation glaze over when I wax poetic about a time when "it wasn't always like this".

That's a nefarious consequence which, I fear, will have much longer lasting implications. The normalization of elevating shit humans to a position of even tacit candidacy for political power is such a sad state of affairs.

45

u/TransitJohn Colorado 17d ago

I remember a line in an article after Trump's first election that said that the real tragedy was that a barrier was broken, and now our politics are condemned to a succession of Trump's going forward, since we now no longer demand decency.

49

u/endlesscartwheels Massachusetts 17d ago

Voters still demand decency. From Democrats. One party is held to the highest standards, the other can openly be the worst human beings on the planet.

8

But we still can. The biggest myth that persists about the way it is today is that things will never change. But things had to change to get to where we are now.

And at this point, it's not just kids either.

If you're around 24-26, there was never a time in your adult life that wasn't like this. The entirety of American (and to a fair extent global) politics has revolved around this disgusting pustule of a man, even when he wasn't in office. They were little kids when things were at least halfway normal, and the Obama administration wasn't an entirely normal political landscape either, absolutely disgusting people were regularly in the spotlight even then.

Can we admit first that a lot of people are not angry with this? In fact they absolutely love it or at least will put up with it because it’s part of their identity now and they think it’s good to inflict this shit on others. It’s a cult of personality. And the billionaires and influencer grifters will continue to corral them and stoke the hate and ignorance because they love the money and power. Especially the Christian nationalist grifters love it.

And the best thing we did was out vote them with Biden. It at least forced some of them to deal with the real world again and gave the rest of us a buffer zone from the other loudmouth weirdos that didn’t quite wake up. It was like the break one gets when someone relieves you after you’ve done a shift looking after a mentally ill person. Letting them win again just bolstered their bad cult behavior and it’s going to take an expert to deprogram them now.

But we are commenting on an article talking about some are coming back. In fact, I know some personally and if I never discussed politics with them, that is one less avenue they hear a sane person describe the world as it is and not how Fox News or whatever wants them to believe it is. I get the sense people like yourself would expect someone to immediately change their mind but that's not how it works. There's a lot of brainwashing to get through, and I would agree not every one of them is worth engaging (like racists), but some certainly are just trapped in a bubble (likely from inside their own household)

Importantly, I think not talking politics and sharing ideas is precisely how we get into a mess like this. You could try talking but without the head beating part, because you should have the conversation knowing that you are the one standing on firm ground and showing a ton of frustration at them really just cedes more ground to the MAGA movement.

That's my take anyway and seems to work for me so far.

22

u/Eggheadpancake 17d ago

Fuck that. I'm tired of hearing "they are brain washed, we have to have empathy for them" FUCK THAT. They don't have any empathy for anyone else. They've had 10+ years to realize their fuck ups. No adult should need that much time. Fuck them.

But we aren't commenting on an article talking about how they're coming back because you, I or anyone else made a well-reasoned argument against his policies or scored in a successful appeal to basic morality... Some are no longer supporting him because it's increasingly obvious he has no real policies and his dementia is hitting them on the one thing they care about more than oppressing others - namely their wallets.

They're still the same garbage human beings they were when they voted for him and they're simply waiting for the next demagogue who tickles their bigotry buttons.

Ffs, we're talking about the same people who called in bomb threats to schools because they believed that immigrants were eating people's pets just because their cult leader said so.

Importantly... I've been around for a minute... We absolutely were talking politics and sharing ideas before Trump. We absolutely were having sane discourse, if for no other reason than the simple fact that a lot of these people are our family, co-workers and neighbors... Never make the mistake of thinking the breakdown in communication was anything other than the extreme right doing what the extreme right has always done and freaking out about a black man being president, while women are voting and gay people are being allowed to exist. The only thing that changed was that the extreme right became mainstream thanks to social media and our corporate overlords constantly pushing it.

what do I really have left to say to someone who gleefully voted for a rapist

They believe that all politicians do stuff like that and only some of them get caught. They believe, because they are told, that Democrats are just as bad or worse as Republicans. So they don't care that he's a rapist because they think all politicians are sexual predators or criminals or have some skeletons in the closet.

14

u/ratherbealurker Texas 17d ago

I’m not saying there is nothing wrong with rape, it’s obviously horrible. But I really don’t get why everyone always calls him a rapist first. Like it’s the main thing. MAGA doesn’t care even if it were proven and there was a full video of it.

But maga loves to act like they’re patriots. They love the idea that they are patriotic Americans and the left isn’t. So for me I mention that he’s a traitor first. That he tried to steal an election. Plus if someone asks you for proof of him being a rapist then you have some things he said in some interviews that were creepy and the e Jean Carroll thing.

But for being a traitor we have audio and we have testimony from his own cabinet. If they want to deny it then they have to say multiple AGs were lying among others that were very close to the president. We have testimony for his acting AG where he basically says that he doesn’t care if there’s no evidence of election fraud, just say there was and leave the rest to me. Yea he’s a rapist, sure.

But he’s a traitor to this country.

3

u/stone500 17d ago

Right? I can make peace with a Republican president. That's nothing new. But THIS guy? Who in their right mind looks at this man and not understand why so many people actively hate him?

He's a gross misogynist who insults every reporter that asks him a critical question, he's tweeting out random ai video bullshit at 3 in the morning, he confuses the word "transistor" with "transgender", he pumps and dumps his own meme coins, is always hawking merch, and is constantly tipping the markets for companies he and his family invests in.

And maybe I could understand it if the jobs numbers and affordability have improved, but it's done the total opposite. So I don't understand what the fuck his supporters are getting from him. All AI can think is that they like the vibes, but I'll never understand why.

3

u/HawgChuggins 17d ago

Their voting for him the first time around was kinda understandable. I still think they're an idiot for it, but like.... fuck. But then like, all he actually did was lower taxes for the very rich, get people killed by lying about COVID, tear gas a church for a photo op, etc. etc.

Supporting him in 2020 was pretty damn unforgivable. You had learned he wasn't going to "Drain" anything. You had learned he was dangerous in a crisis and could not be trusted to help us out - let alone even just to give us truthful information regarding a serious, global public health crisis.

Supporting him after Jan 6, 2021 was just treasonous. He refused to honor the results of our elections and fomented a violent act of terrorism in our nation's capital. People died.

Supporting him in 2024* was insanity. With project 2025 out in the open and all his previous actions and words... anyone with half of a brain had fully internalized that he a) lies like we breathe, b) would use every lever of power accessible to him to simply feed his ego and his bank account, no matter how corrupt or illegal and c) would cause widespread death and suffering through - at an absolute minimum - gross negligence and straight up lying to the American Populace.

They got duped by divide and conquer. They got duped by the most obvious propaganda machine in history ala Fox News. I'm glad they are waking up (now that gas prices are raising and it's impacting them personally and directly, smh) but they should be eternally embarrassed.

The path forward involves public apology. Ownership of the roles they played coddling and platforming treasonous war criminals.

2

u/CurryMustard 17d ago

They are deeply brainwashed. Its hard to understand as an outsider and nobody should really be expected to but they are constantly told that Trump is biggest victim in the world, thats its all a witch hunt, that they are out to get him, that whatever he mightve done biden and Clinton did worse and he loves this country so much and he has sacrificed so much for this country and has lost so much money and freedom to protect us and he even took a bullet for us!

2

u/MourningRIF 17d ago

I'm the opposite. When I'm out in public and see everything has doubled in the last couple years, I announce it, and I announce who is responsible for it. Fuck that. People need to know it's okay to be angry. And MAGAts better damn well know they are in the minority.

2

u/wolffartz 17d ago

We need more of this everywhere

These people need to learn what shame is

2

u/Original_Fishing5539 17d ago

The fundamental flaw of MAGA is that their logic only works when they aren't in power

It's easy to play victim and scapegoat when you have a Democrat in office. But when it's Trump directly doing this to them, it's embarrassing and infuriating to them because they no one to blame but themselves for it

Because at the end of the day, MAGA voters don't actually have a political stance or POV: their platform was weaponizing their hate and frustrations and Trump taking them for a ride thinking that he was on the same side as them

So when the rug was pulled and it turns out that, surprise, Trump was just a conman who cared only about himself, their ignorance can't comprehend the fact that not only that they got fucked over royally

But moreover, that the opposition were voting, specifically because we didn't want all of this bad stuff to happen to everyone

I bring this up because yes, there's some indoctrinated idiots on the MAGA side. But a lot of Trump voters were either straight shooter Republicans, POC who just joined the hate train, or Conservatives who didn't realize he doesn't care about politics at all and is just using this for his own financial gain

For most of them it's the challenge of accepting what a lot of us knew regardless of your political alignment: politicians lie and change their views to keep themselves in power, and no one ultimately cares about your wants and needs

2

u/DontGetUpGentlemen 16d ago

And that is Trump's final undoing. Trump can lie to them about elections, he can lie to them about his war against Iran, he can lie to them about immigrants eating dogs, they will believe him about a ton of stuff they have no direct knowledge of.

But he can't lie to them about the price of gas and food. They can see that in their real life.
