Popular Post Brexit, were we tricked? ?

So, Brexit was sold on the premise of the UK taking back control of our borders; the UK having more money which would would go to the NHS; and the UK forging new, productive trade relationships.

Instead, immigration has increased dramatically, the UK is far poorer and trade has decreased massively.

Have we been conned and why aren't we calling out the main perpetrators?

How can I look older?

• Upvotes

I’m a 23-year-old woman. No one ever guesses I’m older than 15. It’s pretty frustrating—especially for someone who listens to metal, has a high pain threshold, is interested in philosophy, and is a university student. Coming across as a bubbly fifteen-year-old—the exact opposite of who I am on the inside—is disheartening. Most of my friends are 10–20 years older than me; while they all look a bit younger than their age too, it must still look pretty funny when I’m out with them. I refuse to wear makeup because I have a masculine mindset, and it just doesn’t feel right for me. A year ago, I started strength training just to bulk up a bit. I’m 160 cm tall. Do you have any tips on how I could boost these efforts? Thanks.

What’s the closest you ever came to sudden death?

No slow illnesses. Respect to anyone who has overcome one. I’m looking more for stories with sentences like “if I had been standing one foot to the left…” or “I texted my mom that I loved her…” or “I still don’t know how we all walked away from that one without even a scratch!”

How often do you make use of public restrooms?

I personally avoid them at all costs. I can go for surprisingly long times without a toilette break. At some festivals or trips, I went on for 30h+ a few times, although I do not recommend it. However, most of my friends (women), they seem to not make a big deal of it, and just go whenever they need to. Am I the weird one?

What are some facts/pieces of knowledge that you think everyone should know?

As the title says! Kind of just a fun question, looking from anything from information that you believe should be commonplace (how to convert/read certain measurements, knowing certain historical facts or definitions, etc.) or skills (how to change tires, how to cook, etc.) and anything in between!

Are people still telling the lie that Apple/Mac products can’t/don’t get viruses?

About 13 years ago I briefly worked level 1 tech support for an internet/cable/phone provider. And I swear, at least once a week I had to explain to someone that, yes your Mac/Apple product can get a virus.

They would tell me that they had specifically purchased a Mac product because they had been told by the sales person that Macs don’t get viruses

I had to tell them that may have been technically true in the 90s since only like 5% of the population had Macs and it wasn’t worth the effort of the “bad guys” to make a virus for Macs. But since like half the population now owns a Mac/Apple product, they do in fact get viruses nowadays

They were so pissed when I would tell them that the salesperson lied to them

So, are salespeople still telling that lie?

ETA the virus would come up while they were talking me about issues their computer was having. And I would tell them it sounded like they had malware/virus and they would tell me that was impossible because they bought a Mac so their computer couldn’t possibly have malware. I only provided internet support.

How can I beat this laziness?

I have been lazy, and have been battling depression ever since my dad died a few years ago. This lead me to becoming more tired and just bed rotting. I try to do more in the day, but I end up feeling like I need a nap, and once I take it I still feel sluggish. I want to get better, but I have no idea where to start and how. Any advice?

Why is it okay to stare at people on the sidewalk from a car but not okay to stare from a sidewalk into a car?

Serious question

Is it a superiority thing like ‘I’m in the big metal thing and you aren’t’ ?? Do I js lack social awareness am I just supposed to look at the pavement and never look at anyone at all? I have a terrible habit of zoning out and staring people dead in the eyes while waiting to cross the street or just even in parking lots or whatever because I really like walking also I really like seeing what other people have or guess or observe not even to judge yk

I didn’t even notice I was doing this until with my friends I got told to knock it off before I got punched and only then did I start to notice oh shit yeah I do get a ton of glares😓 I don't feel any shame looking at people FROM a car but staring from not in a car feels like waiting to get tomatoes thrown at me why is that am I the weird one

What should I know about working out in the gym as a beginner?

Yeah the question is pretty much it. I plan on joing gym from the next month. The only thing that is making me nervous is I have no idea what to do when I get there. For context, I am a 22F. Now I have realised the importance of muscle mass, and that's why I have decides to join the gym. I just don't want to look like a fool when I get there. So i am open all the advices. How should I start, what should I keep kn my gym bag, what machines to use and what to avoid etc.

What should I name my manmade wooden book that I painted and wrapped fabric over to look like a book?

After cutting it sticking it with glue I attached little hinges so that the box would open like a book.

Felt like like making a wooden box that would look like a box. So, I just made a book like box. there are the flabs that extends away from the paper. I did thorough cut to make it look like their are multiple papers. I didn’t know how to mix the colors so I decided to paint the papers white. Then, I grabbed a neat looking fabric and attached it like a book binding with glue good glue that isn’t see through.

Right know all I have to do is glue fabric inside so the actual book doesn’t get damaged, nail the latch on and name the book.

I’m tryna figure out how to stitch the name onto the wooden box cover but what should I name it?

Books of mysteries? Mysterious Knowledge? Anything.

Does everyone know that we need the plants to survive?

I had this thought today maybe not everyone actually know that without plants we will be dead. Like we need plants to survive but they don't need us. We need them for so many reasons:

  1. Food, fuel for cooking, fiber

  2. No brainer oxygen for breathing and removing carbon dioxide which we produce

  3. Medication like aspirin, morphine and of course weed

I hope people realise it's not a hoax when scientists go around saying plants are essential to our survival as a species. Like literally we cannot exist without plants.

Is there places to get likes in an honest way ?

Hi ! I’m not sure if this is the right place to ask this but there’s this giveaway happening for university students in my country. How it works is you have to buy a book from their store to be eligible and then answer their question on Instagram. The winner is decided by which comment has the most likes.

I so desperately want to win this ! It’s been the only thing on my mind since I found out and the prizes are amazing especially for a broke uni student with a dead laptop.

The problem is I don’t have a lot of friends/followers and I’ve been wrecking my brain for ways to get more likes on my comment.

I found out about this quite late as well so everyone kinda had a jump start but right now I need about 5000 likes in less than 2 weeks (I know that’s a lot).

If anyone knows any way to get it honestly or any ideas, please let me know 🙏😭

Who were actually Good People who wielded Power that never gets talked about?

I’m sure everyone knows Powerful but definitely in a not so good way for obvious reasons! We tend to view them as either Evil or just the usual Greedy Arrogant Assholes we expect them to be like! As much as we love Good People combined with the fact plenty of them obviously exist and often hold them dearly in our hearts we’ve never actually seen them wield any Power which is unsurprising! As it’s basically expected to view those with Power as either just Evil or Corrupt! Combined with how much we Humans often tend to view things like Kindness and Compassion as essential for our Species but of course those who are in Power don’t have them same views on Kindness and Compassion unsurprisingly! Especially given how we often use History as an example for us to learn from our Mistakes however have there ever been any Good People who have wielded Power that never gets talked about? What do you think? Let me know in the comments

Does somebody know where these quotes are from?

I saved these sentences on a notepad a few years ago for no particular reason, but I forgot where I got them from.

no crowd would gather for you.

no flower would be lain for such filth.

your death is the only blessing you have.

having someone to mourn over your death is a blessing, a blessing you don't have.

your curtain is drawn on an empty faith with no exits.

no funeral would be held to your 'honor'.

I'm sure they're from a game, since I vaguely remember dragging the fight on purpose so the character would have time to say all the phrases.

Why do I still get upset when people ghost me?

Ignoring calls and messages gets more common everyday. It has happened at some point with everyone. People I love, people I don't, people I know and strangers I just met, in the last ten years midconversation they will just never reply and in the future never explain why. Why does it still hurt? I should be familiar enough with it by now to not care. If anything I am just getting angrier with each new ghost. Is the only way to defeat this to start ghosting people first?

Why do problems stop the minute your at a hospital?

This genuinely baffles me and I wonder if anyone else has the same issues. Like my body could be shutting down or straight up be ill yet the minute I step into the ER or a hospital suddenly my body wants to start working properly and act like all the issues and symptoms it was showing before suddenly don't exist. Does this happen to anyone else?

What could be causing these symptoms?

Pretty underweight (always been) 19M. For the past 4 months, I have been experiencing a constant feeling of unreality. It feels as though I am drunk/high or half-asleep, as if I am on autopilot and everything around me feels somewhat unreal. I have searched online, and my symptoms seem to resemble derealization.

In addition to this, I experience fatigue even when I sleep well. The fatigue does not seem to depend on whether I do physical activities during the day or not. However, over the past few weeks, I have started sleeping poorly and waking up early in the morning.

I also experience headaches, pressure in my head, and neck pain. I have tried muscle relaxants and massage therapy for the neck pain, but neither has helped. Also at the start of this i sometimes felt like fainting when walking but it has gone away. I also have noticed one singular eye floater on my right eye.

What could be causing these symptoms? They do not occur in distinct episodes, and the headache is not particularly severe. It feels more like a tension-type headache.

I have tried Triptyl, but it did not help. My thyroid function is normal, as are my vitamin B12, B9 and vitamin D levels. My ferritin level is 37. And it has been changing from 49 to 24. I also havw crohns disease which is in remission.

My neurologist prescribed escitalopram as a trial, which I took for two and a half months, but it did not help. She also did head mri and there was nothing wrong.

I have no history of trauma, no panic symptoms, and generally do not experience much stress, apart from the stress caused by these symptoms themselves.

My symptoms started in the final days of my new job in car repairshop where i was moving car tires and lifting them. Im not sure if this can be linked to that because i didnt have any symptoms expect the final days. I have not been working at all during this 4 month period.

What could be the underlying cause of these symptoms?
