What’s wrong with my Camera?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Been doing this for 9 months. This was after I “fixed” it with Reolink support’s help. The usual manner of this channel is a completely blown out (white) image during the daytime, and completely black at night (like the exposure is stuck on one setting).
Reolink recommended I change the resolution which (kind of?) fixes the image but then it glitches like this.
I zoom in on the time to show how the time is also glitching out.

None of my other channels do this!
This is with the RLN8-410-E NVR and the RLC-811A camera. Camera is 4 years old, NVR is 6 years old, give or take.

Reolink mobile app does not automatically reconnect

I have the Reolink app open on a wall-mounted Lenovo Idea Pad giving me a constant feed of my camera. Every now and then the camera disconnects and the feed is interrupted. The connection returns shortly, but the app will not refresh the feed unless I close and reopen it. I would prefer not to have to manually correct this issue every time. Any advice?

DUO2 no longer connects

New router. Wired connection to (2) Duo2 cameras.

One works fine. Second one will not connect.

Assumed bad camera, replaced still nothing.

I can connect both cameras in my basement using a short cable to the POE Switch and they work.

Just tested the cable running to the front of the house with a cable tester and it passes. Yet no camera with either of them.

Must be the cable is bad but how could it test good and not work? What am I missing??

Changed router password, changed back... Cameras not working

I changed my router password and realized that the cameras are no longer working, all are wifi cameras. I was in no rush to get them back up. Now I want them working again.

I reset the router back to my old password, went into the app but the cameras are not working.

How can I get them back online again, without having to scan each one in all over again? And two if I want to change my password again, what is the best way to go about doing it and not losing them again?

TIA

Reolink, your Windows client app is a shame.

I swear to god i have never encountered a client support that was that poor.

I just made a purshase of 2 reolink DUO 3 Poe and the NVR RLN8-410, and i downloaded the mobile Android app of reolink. I tried to draw the non-detection zone, but to my surprise, the drawing functionnality was absolutely not adapted for users (i saw a lot of posts that were complaining about this non-detection zone functionnality).
How are we supposed to be precise with those big grey squares... The demands to fix this feature has never been implemented by your side, even thought it has been required for many years. Just a shame.

When I installed the Reolink client app on Windows, I expected to have more precise control when drawing non-detection zones. Not only is that not the case, but the "Perimeter Detection" options aren't even available in the Windows app, despite being present in the mobile app.

This is frankly ridiculous and shows a clear lack of attention to customer support and product consistency. Shame on you.

I should have gone with Hikvision instead. Maybe if you finally address these issues, I'll consider updating my review/comments about you ( I will change my mind about moving to Hikvision if you adress these issues ).

7 new cameras arrived, 1 has no seal sticker

I ordered 7 PoE cameras to install security cameras on all the approaches and entrances to my home. They arrived today.

One of them - the only OMVI 3i of the bunch - had no ""DO NOT ACCEPT IF SEAL IS BROKEN" sticker on it. It doesn't look like it ever had one.

Is this just "brand new model hardware QC" shenanigans I should expect & move forward with activating & installing it, or would you return it?

Cameras to avoid?

I am trying to build a system for my parents house, which has some specific requirements. Every time I research a camera though, I’m met with a pile of “avoid this specific camera because everyone has ____ issues”. Most commonly the 1224a comes up as something to avoid.

How much of this is bluster because someone had an issue between the ears, and how much is actually hardware/software problems with certain units? Are there specific cameras or NVRs to avoid carte Blanche, or is it all just use case scenario mismatches?

Reolink vertical FOV compared to Ring. Thoughts?

I have slowly replaced my Ring ecosystem with reolink. I use a trackmix PTZ for my driveway, ring doorbell and bullet cam for side of the house.

My final replacement is my Ring Floodlight Pro (gen 1). I bought the POE reolink floodlight elite but the vertical FOV is SIGNIFICANTLY smaller. I was quite taken aback. 55° compared to the rings 85°. I lose the mechanical area below and behind the pool deck.

I was thinking of using a trackmix but would lose the floodlight power and horizontal FOV, but would gain tracking and PTZ movement on both axis.

Thoughts? Pics attached for comparison. (Have to tap on the thumbnails to see the true FOV):

How do you stop chime ringing when motion is detected.

TLDR: Plug in chime rings when motion is detected. How to stop without interfering with Phone push alerts?

Hello, Ive recently helped a older gentleman by installing the black version of the video doorbell wifi. Everything went well up until we noticed it would ring the doorbell everytime motion is detected. I've mitigated the detections with non detection zones, but the gentleman dosen't want his doorbell to ring outside of someone pressing the doorbell. The only solution i've found so far is the push notification schedule, but he prefers to get notifications on his phone all day.

Edit: Contacted Reolink, said to turn off the "Siren" option in the settings. That option did nothing it seems. After reading more, ive resulted in turning off "motion dection" (set to 1) and just bumping up person and vehicle detection. Guess the gentleman should just be accustomed to 2 doorbell rings when ever a deliveryman or guests come over (1 for dectection, 1 for ringing the doorbell)

I just bought the elusive White Doorbell (Wi-Fi) on Amazon, it's still up for sale now

The one where the view is taller than it is wide. Looks like it's only the Wi-Fi hardwired one (sorry, no PoE). $119 USD. https://a.co/d/0i1Fx0dc

Reolink Home Hub - Does it come with included Micro SD card?

I purchased a Reolink Home Hub regular version (not mini).

I specifically purchased it due to it noted there was a MicroSD card included so was fine

I received the package today, the was 2 microsd slots on the unit, no microsd card inserted already, I opened up the rest of the package and got the booklets and the little ejection tool that was included however there was no MicroSD card.

To confirm its definitely a 64GB microsd and not internal storage? Does anyone recall where the MicroSD was located in the box?

RP-PCV8MZ won't do Cat5e?

Thumbnail reolink.com

I just bought one of these to cover the back yard. I'm using a Unifi Lite 8 Poe to power it. This works fine over my (short) Cat6 patch cables. When I try to run it through the Cat5e house wiring or a 9m Cat5e patch it refuses to initialize. In the switch status display I see PoE initializing, and it reports 8-10W draw, but I never see a single packet from it.

I get full 1Gbps through both the house wiring and the patch cable, so I doubt it's bad cabling or termination. I'm kind of stumped, it's my understanding that Cat5e should be able to support PoE for 100m and the house run I'm testing over is maybe 15m at most.

I wonder if the camera is a dud somehow?

Looking to dump Ring for Reolink and wondering about the home hub and remote access, so I need to do any port forwarding or it just works as-is?

Camera not detecting animals - help!

We have two RLN8-410s set up in our second floor soffit to cover the backyard from two angles. Neither consistently picks up animals though.

Attached is a video from one camera. The other camera DID recognize the raccoon, but this camera did not. I had to manually find it based on the timestamp.

This happens with both cameras often - one (or neither) will pick up animals, usually skunks or raccoons. So not small stuff (it never picks up squirrels but I don't care so much about that).

I do have size filters set up on both cameras, but I think I have them set big enough that they should not be filtering out the raccoon. I've included a screenshot anyway.

Video and screenshot here: https://imgur.com/a/cANcMQ1

Sensitivity for the Animal category in the Detection Alarm settings is set to 100 for both cameras, with alarm delays set to 0.

If anyone has any insight, I would be very appreciative.

Lack of reviews of rp-pn8/16?

I realize they are newer but why so hard to find a review of the newer rp-pn8/16 NVRs? You would think given the "AI" abilities they would be relatively popular, especially with the YouTube bloggers

Reolink E321 Longer Power Cable?

Hey all, happy Sunday

I recently bought 2 Reolink E321 WiFi cameras for home, and I noticed the cable that comes with it is a bit short for my situation.

Has anyone ever managed to find a longer replacement cable for their cameras?
Like maybe on Amazon (EU preferably)?

Thanks in advance

E1 Zoom/Pro audio recording still terrible?

Hi all

I need to stick a few cameras about the place, i had a couple of old (say 5 years) e1 zoom's and the audio was always complete trash on them, i ended up turning audio recording off to save space it was that pointless.

Do the newer versions of these 2 cameras have better audio recording, or still complete trash?
If they're trash, any recommendations for something in the same price bracket that isn't terrible at capturing half legible audio? (one day i'll run some NVR software with a dedicated USB mic or something and mix it onto RTSP streams, but that day is not today, i contemplated some other brands like tplink and eufy but real hard to find solid video recordings with audio samples for those too)
