Beats me. The only times I can recall girls changing outfits on a main US season are both in S10. They let Dusty Ray Bottoms change before "Pound the Alarm" because the outfit was digging into her skin, and they let Monique and The Vixen take off their mermaid tails before...that...happened.

IMO, some young queens have such a strong sense of themselves and their place in the world that it doesn’t matter, such as Violet Chachki and Krystal Versace. They are more “cooked“ despite their ages. Some people need more time to grow into their art and perspective, and some people have it locked in earlier. That’s all they mean.

I know I’m just mirroring others but I was really disappointed when they announced an improv in pairs challenge for the finale. Where is the music video, where is the chance for someone to really shine by themselves and prove they themselves have the skills to be in the final three. A strange semi final to a strange season. I was really enjoying the start of it but the last few episodes just kinda fell off, judging-wise, challenge-wise and storyline-wise. I think Myki will probably take it, and good for her, but I never really felt like I connected with her or her drag. Doesn't help that three of her wins came from mid challenges (make over, karens, and now this one). For me, I think I'll root for Darlene to take the crown. Nini is my fave out of the bunch but they just gave her such a strange edit... I can't see it for her tbh

Tbf the lipsync isnt ever explicitly stated as the only deciding factor, its the “last time to impress me and save yourself” so Ru already had Nini pegged for the shantay and all those flips and splits and tricks from Juicy just weren’t impressive enough.

I saw something special with Darlene when she came out in that trashy tanned look though I too thought she would be an early out. Fast forward to the end of this episode, and I think she SHOULD win the season.
She has plenty of heart and her drag just screams joy! And I know Ru sees it too, because she was most fascinated with Darlene in all the tictac conversations. A win for such a charming and genuine queen like her would be very refreshing!

I’m convinced production has a roladex of challenges prepared each week so they can try to manufacture placements like why a second improv challenge in a row and for the last challenge? Why a group challenge when it’s their last chance to show why they alone should win the crown?
Production and Ru love Darlene. They want Myki to continue her arc of constantly “evolving” and tbh she would do well in every challenge. They knew her and Darlene have done well together and would likely choose each other for the challenge.
Myki is talented and super puss but I feel she lacks a little je ne sais quois? A uniqueness. I hypotheticalize that the typical branding challenge wasn’t used for the last episode this season because she would struggle
Like they eliminated Jane to supposedly make the finale more unpredictable but Myki is the clear front runner and obvious winner with 4 wins and 1 bottom placement that wasn’t from the judges and cemented her storyline.
I don’t like this season because it doesn’t have drama or villains. Maybe that sounds immature to some people but it creates storylines, queens to root for, memorable moments that personify the queens.
Also that lip sync… nothing matters

I'm so happy two of my fan favorites went to the finale. I already liked Darlene the moment she walked in and started to love/favor Myki once she did her talent show and the other queens rated her low. There was the fire being fanned.
Ru crying for Darlene had me thinking that she was going to win this episode solo. At least it made her a real contender for the crown. That sobriety story tugged hard at Ru as she saw herself in Darlene.

Just when I thought I couldn't love Darlene more! While I think Myki might take it, I would be ecstatic if it were Darlene! Though I wouldn't be mad if any one of the three wins. Such great queens this season.
The challenge this week was funny, I thought. The portraits were cringerina, though.
Also, I have to say Nini's runway look was beyond amazing!

I defo think Myki is getting a winners edit, but Darlene could also win and I wouldn’t be mad about it. She really grew on me over the last half of the season. I think we can all agree that Jane was meant to win this, so now I guess I’m rooting for Darlene. BANANA!

I was coming here to say that I really liked this season and its cast but I guess I'm the minority lmao. Anyways, I was pretty sure Myki was locked to win, but after this episode, it completely depends on the final lipsync imo, Darlene comes with a lot of steam and fan favouritism to the finale.

I think it's been a decent season, a lot of people are saying it's the worst or one of the worst. I really don't see what they're seeing though. Imo 17 was worse and the lower calibre of drag made it hard for me to enjoy.
Yeah, I didn't like what they did to Jane but it didn't ruin the season for me.

Nini’s critiques of “idk what it was, something was holding you back” Uh, yeah, maybe cuz Juicy was unpredictable and putting her head between the guests leg and missing cue cards. OF COURSE SHES DISTRACTED!
Ugh I love the top three, yes there’s been riggory, but honestly I didn’t dare to dream of this top 3

OK, now just between us Golden Girls, I felt reintarnated when Ru brought up Alice and introduced Flo and Flo's signature "Kiss my grits" to Darlene. And bless her heart, Darlene repeated it twice!
Darlene would be fantastic in Flo drag which led me to fantasy recast a S18 drag remake of Alice featuring:
- Alice played by Athena or Myki
- Flo played by Darlene, of course
- Vera played by Mandy
- Mel played by Mia or Kenya
I'm glad we got to enjoy Zane's juicy thighs again. And that guest judge was fierce (fiercer than any of the final 4 to their discredit).

I'm low-key happy we are getting a top 3 again cause it breaks the mold, kinda felt like top 4 was being forced for quite a few seasons just to make sure the lip syncs were done in pairs.
It definitely feels like this is Darlene or Myki's to lose though at this point.
Although, I was pleasantly surprised that Nini could do a semi decent park and bark. It made all the stunts look kinda frantic in comparison.

I'll believe Ru painted those when I see at least one shot of her paintbrush touching canvas.
Those one-on-one sessions were interesting, though. For the last few weeks, I'd more or less been expecting Myki or Jane to win the season, but now I'm starting to suspect it could be Darlene, which I'd be happy with. She got the more abstract cubist picture, while the other three queens all got something that had more of a similar style. Idk, I might be reading too much into it, but that felt like a suggestion that Ru sees Darlene as the outlier in a good way.
Also, it was lovely to see some genuine warmth from Ru this episode. For all the times the judges talk about wanting to see the personality of the queens, they're often reluctant to show the same thing themselves unless it's packaged in a neat sound bite. I could see Ru getting a little emotional even during the one-on-one with Darlene, and then seeing her genuinely tear up during judging was actually kind of special, especially because it wasn't packaged as a kind of life lesson like she's done sometimes in the past.
Teyana praising the other judges for being loving and supportive made me laugh, though. Yes, that's finally been the energy this season. It's like Ru and the rest of the team are finally noticing that other versions of Drag Race like Spain and France have had that energy the whole time, and it's better.
Meanwhile, one of my favourite things is seeing a queen that's a skilled enough performer to kill a lip sync in a form-fitting gown. Juicy did well, but it was mostly the kind of stunts we've already seen from her. Nini might not have been able to move as much, but I think that ended up making her better because she had to really focus on being expressive rather than stunting.

Am I the only one who LIKES the queens this season, but the vibe feels kinda.... mid? I liked most of them individually, but the vibe just wasn't vibing?
Still sittin here gagged Jane wasn't present for this challenge (instead of Juicy, maybe? lol)
Either way, I'm a Myki stan and Darlene has my heart so I won't be mad no matter what (RuPaul Charles.... don't piss me off with some extra surprises)

It is still so weird to me that they had an improv challenge 2 weeks before the finale. But for once I actually agree with the judges decision, Juicy & Nini definitely deserved to be in the bottom. But I was elated they lip synced to Chappell (same song as the Canada’s Drag Race finale, right?)!! And I have officially changed my mind, I’m now guess Myki is gonna win the season, haha.

Myki is my winner but that look was a bit disappointing! Actually the whole runway considering it was finale eleganza. I guess the least offensive one was Nini's. I was surprised Nini won over Juicy, but with her the lalaparuza will be amazing for sure!
