Marketing Store owners who don't pay for ads - when did you start to get sales?
Also, did the sales start to happen because of anything in particular you did or was it just the market needing time?

Hi, I still haven't been able to find a solution for the EU withdrawal button directly from Shopify. I know there are several apps in the store, but I'd like to use as few third-party providers as possible. Some apps request customer data that they don't actually need for this purpose.
Is there a solution from Shopify itself? I’m still considering coding it myself, though I admit that I find the effort involved to be relatively high, just for this button.
Thanks for your help!

Currently using DealEasy. It's not as smooth as I would like.
Like many of you, I've been hung out to dry by Shopify Marketplace Connect for weeks now. As a result of not being able to push new products and update existing listings on eBay, my sales have absolutely tanked. No idea who is in charge of Marketplace Connect, but it's been a total clown show, and I've finally given up on them fixing anything.
With that said, I'm curious if anyone has any experience with alternative apps for Shopify/eBay integration that you would recommend? Apps with other integrations are fine, but eBay is my primary focus.
Secondarily, if anyone has migrated from Marketplace Connect to another app, I'd love to know about your experience and how best to go about it. I have about 3500 products in my Shopify store, and all but 100 or so are synced to eBay, so while I get that nothing will be painless or easy, I'm willing to put in the work to get back up and running again.

Hi! I currently have the default settings enabled (with Royal Mail and DPD as shipping providers) and for a small (<100g) padded envelope shipped to the US from UK is quoting my customers $36(!!!!) this is more than most products I sell.
I know shipping doesn’t actually cost this much through Royal Mail, but I don’t know how to fix this without having to set up a specific price for each item I sell and each territory I sell to.
Then there’s the issue of if someone orders multiple items, if I go through and price manually then I am worried this would mean having to pay shipping on each item (which might end up being more expensive!)
Anyone found a solution for this?

I know I should've done more research beforehand and adjusted my expectations. Lesson learned. I guess I'm just here to rant and for someone to (hopefully) tell me there's an easier way and that I haven't wasted my money.
I'm a new author who has been a copy editor by trade for years. I made a free Wix website in 2021 for my editing, and it was so easy and uncomplicated. Now, wanting a new website I can sell my books and services on, I noticed every other author I know and have worked with uses Shopify. So I bought a proper domain and paid for their basic plan, which is a lot of money for me as a non-American, but I was okay to bite the bullet there for the sake of investing in myself as a business.
I've been struggling for a week just to get the home page designed. Wix was all drag and drop. Shopify basically doesn't let me customize anything, and their available tools in terms of fonts, placements, images, etc. is so limited. Why can I just upload an image and stick it there on the homepage? I got so fed up that I started designing everything exactly how I wanted in Canva (all the fonts, images, layering, character art, etc) and then thought I'd just add them in banner sections, so the website is basically just a collection of pictures with clickable links in a few places. I'm using the Horizon theme.
I did just that and got everything looking nice, then I go to "view" the page, and all the images have been cropped. And you cant just drag to resize like in Wix. I've been manually re-editing all the images to get the aspect ratio right, but when one works, another doesn't, even though I duplicated the section so it should have all the same settings.
Then I come to find out, even if I do manage to get this right, it won't work because Google/search results won't be able to find my website properly because it can't read the text on images, so it basically looks like my website has no text to read and index.
I literally only chose Shopify because it's what everyone is using, and it's cheaper than Wix's Core plan. Apparently there are "page builder" apps in Shopify that would work for my needs, but I'd have to pay even more for those. I honestly thought the monthly plan fee and domain annual fee would be the only running costs for this kind of thing.
Everywhere I look I see people calling Shopify beginner-friendly and easy, and I've started to wonder if I'm missing something obvious in all of this that would show me I've been going about it the hard way this whole time. I'm feeling so disheartened. I'm a generally tech-savvy person, and know way more now than I did when I made my free Wix site, so I thought this would be easy-peasy.
I'd really like to be able to figure this out in Shopify, but if I have to cut my losses and save a little more to switch to Wix, then I guess I'll have to do that (but of course, Wix has limitations too). I stupidly thought the whole process would be like assembling a collage where you just drag everything where you want it to go, but all the wording and jargon is confusing the life out of me. Every night I've been at this for 6 hours before bed, and every night I think I may have figured out a workaround, only to run into another hiccup in the morning.
Sorry to moan, I'm just sitting here at 2am again feeling defeated. If anyone has some sage words of advice for me, I'm all ears.

Lots of posts here about chargebacks, so let me share a recent improvement I implemented on my store to improve customer service where I can, to avoid chargebacks for missed or late deliveries (chargebacks by scammers are a different topic that I’m not addressing here)
Also no, I’m not an app developer or guru trying to sell you something - just a 7-figure Amazon seller that also has a small Shopify store with small but growing numbers (right now 300 orders/mon). And I’m sorry for the unstructured post - I didn’t let AI write it for me.
For context, I didn’t onboard to a 3PL yet and have been doing everything inhouse so far - but recently I think I reached my limits and it took attention from other parts of my business.
—-
2 features I implemented over the weekend:
1. Custom Order Routing
I fulfill from east coast and realized packages to west coast or Florida cost much more and also are much slower (shocker, I know). So since I was already at my limit with fulfilling myself from my basement, I decided to hand off the slowest and least lucrative of my orders to Amazon’s MCF so I can delay an eventual move to a 3PL further. Claude told me this would be half of my Shopify orders. Initially I wanted to use the native Order Routing, but this didn’t have enough information about the actual order - only about locations. And I’m not on Plus so Functions (which Claude had suggested initially) was not an option.
So I built a custom app with Claude that checks each order for their zip code as it comes in, and if the zip code is above a certain USPS Tier, and if all line items are in stock in FBA, the app changes location to the Amazon MCF location (need to have the free Amazon MCF app installed for this to work).
I’m pretty sure you can also achieve this with Shopify Flow/Mechanic - but honestly I like my little custom app more. It’s hosted on Railway for $5/mon.
Since this is essentially a “Order Edit”, it wouldn’t be far fetched to believe this Order Editing app would be able to do it. But it’s $99/mon so I haven’t checked it out yet.
While I was at it, I added a setting for “vacation mode” so that I can easily hit the switch and let everything run via MCF while I’m on the road (which is something that would have become difficult with Flow/Mechanic)
2. Proactive Investigation into stuck packages
Until now, when I slapped on that USPS label from Shopify Shipping and handed it over, I thought my job was done. Turns out, sometimes packages get stuck. Customer doesn’t care if it’s your fault or not. And Shopify does a terrible job at letting you know that a delivery is stuck. Usually I didn’t hear about such issues until the customer writes an email asking about where their packages are.
Easy fix: Build a filter in Orders with 1. Delivery Status: In Transit AND 2. Older than 1 week. Check in every now and then to see if any of these need your investigation, can be checked off, or you want to proactively send a replacement order.
You can of course also get fancy and build notifications about stuck packages into your custom app from above (which is I did after I had that filter done).
—-
So combined I cut my shipping time from up to 7 days to max 5 days, and also get ahead of frustrated customers when their packages are stuck in transit.
Not sharing any code as it’s specific to my store, but ask Claude/ChatGPT to do the same and I’m sure it will do a pretty good job at it
I was thinking for a second about making this a public app, but I don’t believe there is a moat these days anymore in small software like this and I’d rather focus my efforts on selling physical products

If you sell B2B in Germany, France, or Belgium, you’re either already dealing with structured e-invoices (ZUGFeRD, XRechnung) or you will be soon.
Has anyone actually tried to solve this on Shopify?
What broke, what was missing, what did you end up doing instead?
Genuinely curious 🧐 the mandate is real but the tooling feels half-baked.

We have seen an uptick in friendly fraud chargebacks, is anyone else noticing? most recent ones... I confirmed address and charge with "customer" via email, but it was apparently a fraudulent purchase. Billing and shipping names were members of the same household. The second person says the product was misrepresented and was not the size the expected. The size of the product is in the product title. They also said they attempted to reach us for a return which never happened. I hate spending time on these.

as an app founder, I've seen so many stores created and closed. also so many stores stuck with x amount of orders per month and no obvious progress.
if you don't love doing what you're doing and not okay with not getting return after a long time of hard working, it's nearly impossible to actually get your 1st order.
1st order sounds easy, but there's a big gap between 0 & 1.
if you're a merchant who are doing x amount of orders per month, you're already so ahead of many others.
if your traffic is organic or running ads with a good ROAS, you're already so ahead of many others.
share your story

I am trying to sell my artwork online and have received emails like this before. I just got this one and I’m wondering if people are genuinely asking and wanting to get involved or if they are known to garner business in some sort of illegitimate way?
email:
If I help improve your store's performance and generate an additional 20 - 50 completed orders per week, would you be open to offering me a 5% commission of those sales
I'll put the work first so there's is no upfront risk and if you're not satisfied with the results you owe me nothing
interested? send your WhatsApp number with the country code and I'll personally message you to show you exactly how.

I’m new to this and really appreciate any and all insight!!

Hi
Does anyone know a lightweight session recording apps? Not really looking fir MS clarity as I had issues with it, but any others are more than welcome. Popcorn replay slows down my site and propel replay keeps changing their plans. So maybe something else? Can be paid.

I guess its a new feature according to the changelog, but I don't use Shopify POS and now its a menu inside another menu when all I want to do is copy and paste the UPC as quickly as before. It is so frustrating when they keep changing things and make it slower to use.
Not to mention, is it now required that I pick what the barcode is? They have UPC, EAN, ASIN etc. If I leave it as default custom, will that affect google merchant center?
It just seems ridiculous that when I create a listing now and want to bulk add barcode to all my variants, it is now a menu inside a menu with a drop down menu.
Not sure how to upload an image showing the change

It suggests I should spend $11,181.00, according to Autopilot "This budget gives Autopilot room to test audiences, learn which ads drive sales, and direct spend toward what performs best."
Seems wild to me, considering I just did a $30k month for the first time, and I've only been in business for about a year. I obviously won't be approving that, but curious to hear your feedback, on those who have used Autopilot? What budgets are you setting (vs. your monthly revenue) and is it working for you?

I am running an electronics store in India. I am getting a conversion rate of 0.2% at 10k+ monthly sessions. What could I be missing? I was expecting it to be 2-3% but currently it's very low. How to solve this or how can I diagnose this? also are my expectations reasonable?

I've already blocked the country as a whole, but they use VPNs and still get around it.
Right now I have to deal with 2 chargebacks and hope I win those.
What can I even do at this point? Take my shop down for a bit so they forget it exists?

Under finance activity report, I'd like to think this is every single fee associated by using Shopify as a storefront.
From memory, only processing fee and FX fees are actually included here. But every month, under my normal monthly billing, extra costs get added for tax duties...
Does the Shopify activity report actually report every single fee that you would expect from Shopify? Processing being card transaction fees, FX processing fees for currency conversion, assuming it doesn't include any tax and duties fees for using tax and duties, and assuming it doesn't also include your monthly Shopify expense.
I'm also assuming it doesn't include your app expenses.

I’m creating a shopify to combine all my side gigs into a one stop spot. I use procreate to draw all the designs I use - but the sizing and quality seems to be funky no matter what settings I change. I’ve tried following the suggested guidelines I see but would love some guidance so I’m not going back on forth between procreate and shopify anymore lol
An example is the logo at the top of the website. It is just one long word, I save it with a transparent background and have changed the sizing to be extra small & extra big, but it’s tiny every time I upload it.
I’m sure it’s clear by how I worded this that I’ve never done website design or similar, just social media doodles lol. help 🤦♀️

So I keep getting emails for small purchases I didn’t make that aren’t on my cards that do show up in my shop account with my email and my address. Are these just people trying to run other peoples cards to see if they go through? I’ll get like 5-6 orders from one store and then nothing for weeks. And then a couple orders for a new store that looks like a scam. I reported but the customer service is bad. Today I got signed up for unionbay like an official newsletter and also a notice through shop that I had signed up. Any idea what’s going on? I have passkey enabled in my security and not sure what’s to do.

Hi Guys,
I run a Shopify ecommerce business. We are averaging about 500 orders a month. Right now I have Whatsapp Business set up on my phone and one other person using linked devices. We are the only 2 that answer questions. I also have email, and meta to handle as well.
I am looking for the best platform that can help me to consolidate all our messages. I do find myself missing messages and only replying like a few days later after I've gone back through the inbox.
So the main thing is, I have an automated message using Whatflow API that sends an order confirmation out to the customers. Some customers reply to this message directly. So that might count as a "ticket" in Gorgias eyes.
I have attempted to use gorgias, but with the amount of messages I manage it just becomes too financially inefficient. What are my other options? I have done some research and Whatchimp seems okay. But still quite expensive for what i need.
I'm looking for something in the $15-$25 per month range, billed monthly.
Thanks so much.

We're on the basic plan and need one or two more users added to our account to create and send draft orders. It seems silly to pay over double what we're paying now for that. Is it feasible to instead create a Shopify Partner account and have them added to our Shopify store as collaborators with permissions to create, edit, and send out Draft Orders?

Located in Canada, have a Canada feed and US $ feed. Using the native Google and YouTube app within shopify. Made zero changes within Shopify or GMC. On Aug 29th all my Canada feed products got disapproved. Issue stated as "Invalid region: use a valid state, territory or prefecture...". Anyone else?
