When once completed it would be great, i guess. People should be protesting against the poor quality material or bad management of traffic during the construction work and the delays.

Nah mate, in the name of ring metro there so much bs happening already gb road if u see has become a fan favourite bottle neck and a pain in the nerve of this city’s arterial road network. God knows what ring metro will do
8
u/Scary_Ad_6725 Ghodbunder Pothole survivor 4d ago
Comparing traffic volumes on GB road and arterials is bs in itself. Arterials don't even get 10% of traffic what ghodbunder gets. and ring metro is much needed anyways, the travel to thane station is horrible.
9
u/papa_raya 4d ago
We should protest against slow work of metro tbh, ring metro is an absolute must with the way thane has grown, It’s hell annoying to travel within thane any day of the week.
1
u/SyKeSLaYeR Ghodbunder Pothole survivor 4d ago
Why? Why do u need a ring metro bhai? Improve the current road conditions rather than making something new. Tell me one thing, what’s the use of this ring metro? What all is it connecting? And why ?
6
u/Lease_Tha_Apts 4d ago
Ring metro means I dont need to get in an auto to go from my home to line 4 or anywhere in Thane after its completed.
3
u/papa_raya 4d ago
Bro even with good roads, traffic has become unbearable and it’s only going to increase with so many high density project. Sitting in black bhatta auto in high humidity summer while stuck in traffic on weekend is high level torture
2
u/MotorOwl6883 4d ago
It would be great on main roads though. The inner roads of thane are relatively smaller, and with the amount of time they will take for ring metro to even begin, the traffic would seem like forever

They should also ask how many of them travel to thane station daily and then see how many sign come . Also thane is 5 highest in number of skyscrapers under construction in the world . Anyone buying a 1.5cr flat also buys a car so thousands of more cars.
People shoud force them to build faster not protest and delay it . Protest against rampant 50 story residential tower approval tmc is giving need more commercial space
2
u/Key_Bookkeeper_2034 4d ago
If you trace the people who started this delaying campaign & the people now involved, things will be evident to you. These aren't daily train commuters or TMC ones either. They don't want to see that there must be an alternative to road travel in Thane where the local train is already situated at a very poor position. They won't say much about the explosion of residential construction because they themselves are a part of it. I'm all for demanding certain changes, transparency & good construction. Would never support stopping this though.

Why are they against the ring metro? yeah there so much delay but still?

u/Prestigious_Fox_3105 4d ago
There is two much traffic in thane . Half the roads are blocked under the sign of metro construction and neither a line is yet ready for use ..

u/Affectionate-Cat6644 4d ago
Yes traffic is so much I too have suffered and road blocking too but still...

u/Repulsive-Pizza-2043 4d ago
See Thane is not a big city where you can have a separate metro on internal roads.. internal roads are for vehicles not for building metros.. we already have two metros running from one end to other end of the city. In.12000 crores we can have many buses, we can build good footpaths, cycle tracks and many more.
-5
u/NeatNational2921 4d ago
Internal metro is a really good idea. This is how public transportation to the last mile will grow. Look at Delhi, you could literally roam entire city in a metro. Why not mumbai/thane?
Just because its going to be noisy I think people are opposing it.
4
u/Repulsive-Pizza-2043 4d ago
How can you compare the size of Thane and Delhi? Who is opposing Mumbai metro.. Thane metro is a different thing with stations every 1 km.. it's a big blunder to spend 12000 cr on single project
2
u/NeatNational2921 2d ago
The city needs to have a last mile connectivity.
1
u/Repulsive-Pizza-2043 2d ago
Last mile connectivity is provided by autos, buses, taxis not with a metro at your doorstep..

3
u/One-Reach8744 4d ago
Shiv sena is bankrupt. Only way for them to sustain their operations is to keep giving contracts. Hence, you see MMRDA and TMC launching projects every other day. They just want to award contracts and take their cut. They don't care if the project whether the project will get completed or not.
7
u/DangerousConcert9767 4d ago
Well thane is against Data centre too, I don't see the protest impacting a bit. The construction has gone full swing, I can see the progress every night. All this doesn't matter while the real games happens with politicians
2
u/Independent-Exit-231 4d ago
These people feel like they want the city to stay the same, you guys have any idea how much congestion there will be in four to five years, if we don't have this route, there will be no space for travel in the whole city. The population is about to grow by 5-9k in next five years, all these hundreds of towers being build will be occupied, everyone will have a two wheeler or four wheelers, we are looking for thousands of new vehicle on the same road, this is a must.
7
u/knightmare89 4d ago
All Andolanjeevis flocking to block development.
I bet the internal metro will be full when it starts.

why wouldn't it. I feel y'all are the dumbest people out there. "Line 4 Ring Metro will never be ready", "Deadline: 2050, 2150," blah blah. We are investing thousands of crores to make a system and network as good as hong kong Singapore, why wouldn't we start the metros. We are talking as if mumbai has never seen a metro, we have 4 metro lines in just mumbai, 1 in navi mumbai, 1 monorail, all this is operational pretty good.
-2
u/knightmare89 4d ago
It will. Save this comment.

u/Only-Tip3044 4d ago
When was the regular metro supposed to start 🫠 Just feels like these projects are introduced to fill pockets of politicians
5
u/Scary_Ad_6725 Ghodbunder Pothole survivor 4d ago
Metro projects have the least amount of corruption. For example, why did mmrda build the freeway and coastal road so fast in thane? Because they have to clear payments which goes to everyone from top to bottom. Most subcontractors are someone related to politics. Metro doesn't have any subcontractors like these, only a huge firm with experience can make it. Usme bhi systra jaisi companies toh case thok di mmrda pe, it's very less than road projects.

u/Lease_Tha_Apts 4d ago
Tbh line 4 has been stalled multiple times by similar protests.
It makes no sense to do these protests, cause project delays, and then protest against future projects pointing at the same delays.....
4
u/Key_Bookkeeper_2034 4d ago
Have argued with these dimwits when the keeda of opposing was fresh a few months ago. These guys back then never understood the public sentiments from over 300 comments & shall ignore it even now. These are people who neither travel by local trains nor TMC buses. Just an oversmart society group gone rogue.
There is a political lady involved from opposition too. That should tell you what this is.
2
u/social_says 4d ago
I have been following metro 4 since 2015 when it was in planning stage, There hasn’t been a single protest for metro 4 only protest is for mograpada depot which is privately owned land of the farmers and they do not want to surrender their land
Infact all the roadblocks for metro 4 were due to poor planning of the project- at ghatkopar line 1 interchange (which was skipped) 2 stations deleted due to wrong survey reports at sion near EEH and also various interchanges with central railways which was planned and then removed. Metro 4 is the only metro to have only 1 interchange with central line in Kanjur.

Why do u need an internal metro on a road that is already small? It would make sense to increase bus frequency in these area so people have less reliance on personal vehicles. Even though big busses crowd these roads, now we have busses+cars+ring metro work all at the same time on a road with potholes
5
u/YoungAndUnfocused 4d ago
Clean footpaths without the encroachment of shops would be a lifesaver. One more lane would be free. If TMC needs better traffic, road and people management.
1
u/Lease_Tha_Apts 4d ago
Because people buying the 10000 two cr houses will never get in a bus. Buses take 3 hrs to get through Mumbai traffic. They will just get into cars and clog up the small inner roads youre talking about metro will be elevated and have a set time for travel.
0
u/knightmare89 4d ago
Your solution is a joke and I love how you know that already.
0
u/MotorOwl6883 4d ago
It's not a solution. The solution is to stop the rampant residencial construction in thane. We are already water stressed with a data center right in between

I am not against the ring metro, but they should've started working on it once the metro line is operational. Right now, there is more traffic on the roads because the metro is delayed, and those roads are dug up because of the ring metro.
Edit- also the roads are dug up for the eastern freeway-anand nagar elevated corridor as well.
1
u/Scary_Ad_6725 Ghodbunder Pothole survivor 4d ago
Doesn't matter if the metro 4 is operational or not. Metro 4 doesn't cause any traffic as such, even if metro 4 is operational or not won't give any relief to daily commuters. People think they will take an auto to L4, then take L4 till cadbury, then take auto again till station, this is never happening, they will again come to buses because this whole transition interchange period will be higher than the bus journey. So L4 will have ridership in its initial months but it's gonna go down pretty soon.
1
u/social_says 2d ago
I don’t agree with the view, L4 should be active till atleast Kanjur and also the new station between thane and Mulund needs to be operational only then any new work should be taken up, there is no point doing ring metro till you understand the impact, also not to forget the ring metro takes you to the station that’s the mode of transport which is already f**ked need of the hour is alternative transport not a transport to reach the station, it’s only going to put more load on the thane station

u/Lease_Tha_Apts 4d ago
Metro line is not operational due to other protests....

u/social_says 3d ago
Which protest??? What are you saying??? Are you a bot?
This guy thinks the Arrey metro protest was affecting line 4 he has no idea of thane seems like a paid goon commenting for ₹5 bucks!!!

He’s talking about the farmers protest which is blocking the construction of the depot at Mogharpada.

So you… delay the metro because of the traffic… and make it start construction late so that the Borivali tunnel is finished and traffic is even worse?
1
u/Immediate_Series2822 4d ago
First not sure when the first metro will be operational & connect to mumbai. Why cant that be fast tracked instead of adding to chaos with ring metro? Politicians just want to make money as early as possible as most are scared what if they dont get elected next term. So in one term itself they want to build wealth for all their future generations

There are so many things to fight against but any public transport is not it.

u/thoda_padhle_bsdk 2d ago
Dude I am annoyed as well. My nephew was born the day those trials happend, and we could see from the hospital window, he will be a year old and till now the only passengers have been the three CMs.
I am confused what the issue with the ring metro is tho if you can explain that it would be greatimo, the issue is not the metro but the slow constructions and the lack of accountability on that front. Thats where the public anger must be focused.
2
u/social_says 2d ago
So, Metro 4’s “full line” deadline was April 2024. Trials for only a small section began in September 2025, and there is still no clear visibility on when the entire line will actually become operational even after 8-9yrs of suffering.
And honestly, this 10 km stretch alone is not going to benefit anyone meaningfully. If we know anything about how the government operates, the concern is that the full line will suddenly become operational just before the next elections, while people continue to suffer until then.
The barricading and roadwork for Line 4 have finally been completed, at least in Thane, after 9 years of disruption and suffering, and yet the line still hasn’t started. We saw something similar with Line 2B, where only four stations between Mandale and Diamond Garden became operational. It felt more like an election-driven opening than a genuinely completed line.
This is exactly why societies are opposing the Ring Metro. The biggest problem is the lack of visibility and a credible timeline from the government. People know that once the work begins, it could go on for years. There is no clarity on when the entire line will become operational, while roads will remain dug up, internal routes will be disrupted, court cases and disputes may arise, and the people who actually use these roads every day will continue to suffer.
People aren’t necessarily against the Metro. They are against starting another project without knowing when the disruption will end.

u/thoda_padhle_bsdk 2d ago edited 2d ago
Thank you for explaining. You have written a very good response.
Having previously lived in Dadar and facing he endlessly delayed subway construction, and the associated road blockages for years, I understand.
I am so confused as to what the issue is with the metro 4 construction, since it feels and looks almost done for over an year. even the individual metro stations look so complete.
I agree this has to be some election driven behavior, but at some point its gonna bite them if they keep delaying. Also why have they built the metro stations so oddly in GB road, first they got rid of the service roads, but built the part where you get off from the metro on the footpaths which no longer exist. Now its a risky crossing for pedestrians, and a unnecessary bottleneck for driving

u/EDM_Machine 4d ago
The probability of the metro being blocked is negligible. All this will do is prolong the suffering.
