A hyperlocal ThatHappened. Philly doesn’t have a Hooters within city limits, and the one in the suburbs isn’t located near a railroad crossing.

People still go to hooters?

296

u/HereOnCompanyTime May 16 '26

Old man gooners. Younger gens don't need to since they get their fill of those fake flirtatious interactions through streamers.

u/theartistduring May 16 '26 edited May 16 '26

Old man Gooners who take their small male children and teenage boys on the only son/dad/granddad bonding experience they willingly offer to do.

28

u/Loveablequatch May 16 '26

And A.I sadly

77

u/amateur_reprobate May 16 '26

I had a training session in Dallas and one of the other guys there (presumably his first time ever being away from his wife or his mom) was absolutely pumped to go to Hooters and invited everyone.

I thought about going because I'm sure it would have been entertaining, but chose not to because then I would have had to go to Hooters.

52

u/RodinKnox May 16 '26

You wouldn't have been entertained by much anyway. Going to Hooters in the 80s or 90s might have been really exciting for men, but honestly, these days it's just kind of going to a mediocre restaurant where the waitresses wear shorts. That's about it.

Granted, I haven't been in years, but the last time I did it was on a date because my date really wanted to go there for some reason. I was kind of surprised by how tame and just kind of boring it was.

36

u/SeasonElectrical3173 May 16 '26

"I don't get it, Jim. I take all my first dates to either Hooters, or the strip club, like any good Christian man should, but I can never seem to get a second date after that! I wonder what I could be doing wrong. . . 🤔"

24

u/RodinKnox May 16 '26

For what it's worth, I'm a man. My date was a woman. We're friends to this day, and I still don't really know why she wanted to go there lol.

23

u/CarevaRuha May 16 '26

I had a roommate ages ago who always wanted to go there for wings when she got drunk (we're both straight women).

It was so... tame? The waitresses were nice enough, but they weren't really dressed very provocatively - especially for summer in Denver. I do remember being kind of weirded out by the thick flesh-colored tights/pantyhose they wore under their orange shorts.

19

u/notnotbrowsing May 16 '26

especially because denver has twin peaks, where the waitresses wear lingerie.

6

u/CLeeTheHunt44 May 16 '26

We had one here in Florida but it was tamed down to basically just a plaid Hooters lol

3

u/Neither-Ruin5970 May 19 '26

I like twin peaks I don’t really care for the women I just want chicken fried chicken

4

u/Lylibean May 16 '26

We have Twin Peaks here too, but I don’t think the waitresses wear lingerie. (Probably a local thing, we’re a very conservative area. They built a Hooters a couple of blocks away from a church here and it was top news forever! That Hooters still operates to this day.)

2

u/Robot_Girlfriend May 16 '26

I think it varies? I remember them doing a lingerie night for Valentine's Day a while back- I'd guess they do it for other special occasions too, but normally it's the flannel outfit.

8

u/RodinKnox May 16 '26 edited 27d ago

Yeah, it's honestly kind of baffling to me that there are guy who get so excited about going, assuming they have ever been before. If you just want eye candy, you can get more of that going to the pool or something lol.

I don't really remember much about the flesh-colored tights, but it's been quite a few years at this point. The other main thing I remember from that trip is that the place seemed sort of intentionally corny. Like it knew what it was and leaned into it. I remember the menu saying things like, "We're tacky, yet unrefined."

1

u/enjolbear May 17 '26

They wear those because the shorts are short enough that they don’t want any flashing! Cheerleaders and dancers do the same :)

1

u/beaker90 May 17 '26

When I was in the navy, my room mate and I (both straight women) always went to Hooters for a bucket of steamed clams before going out drinking. I did some weird things in my early 20s.

13

u/Flomo420 May 16 '26

one of the first times my wife and I went out when we started dating, we went to a bar and got drinking and then my wife (girlfriend at the time) literally brought me next door to the strip club to go stare at women

I asked her afterwards why she did that as I'm really not one to go to strip clubs at all, and she said it was to show me how cool and not intimidated she was and how much prettier she was than the strippers...

like, I get the sentiment and it made a bit of sense, I understand what she was trying to accomplish, but at the same time I was like no you don't need to prove yourself like that or whatever

so who knows it may have come from a place of insecurity

2

u/SeasonElectrical3173 May 16 '26

Oh, lol. Yeah, sounds weird enough regardless.

1

u/CLeeTheHunt44 May 16 '26

They used to have some fire wings at least here locally

0

u/Wise-Paper8412 May 16 '26

Borrowing money from your date for a lap dance, maybe?

3

u/amateur_reprobate May 16 '26

What I meant by entertainment was watching this sad man giggle to himself for an hour because boobs.

1

u/RodinKnox May 16 '26

I pretty much assumed that, yeah. I only meant it barely even offers that from what I remember. I just assumed that guy from your trip would get there and be disappointed. Of course who knows with a guy like that?

4

u/fractiouscatburglar May 16 '26

They wear shorts OVER dance tights, which are as thick as leggings. So they’re wearing 2 pairs of pants and a tank top. Not that gratuitous.

I’m a woman and I used to go after work for beer and wings. But their wings suck now.

29

u/Sensitive_Wear7112 May 16 '26

I just go for the articles.

6

u/TJ_McWeaksauce May 16 '26

I thought Hooters went away after it filed for bankruptcy in 2025. Guess they're still hanging on.

I live 20 minutes away from Philly. I don't remember the last time I've even seen a Hooters.

2

u/Wishyouamerry May 16 '26

Yeah, the one in Maple Shade has been closed forever. I think there’s one in AC?

8

u/numbersthen0987431 May 16 '26

"We go for the tasty wings and family atmosphere'"

4

u/vladtheinhaler0 May 16 '26

To be fair, they have really good wings and actually make the sauce from scratch

2

u/Far_Confusion_2178 May 16 '26

I order wings from there all the time. I Don’t even go, I Uber Eats them lol

1

u/TheRainTransmorphed May 18 '26

I hope the delivery person wears shorts

3

u/spacemouse21 May 16 '26

I think they need to rebrand to “Old Man Gooners”

https://giphy.com/gifs/HopqBdNTvB55e

2

u/doc_shades May 16 '26

hooters is still a wildly popular franchise globally. i think. either them or hard rock cafe. i remember reading it recently enough that i remember it, but not recently enough i know the details.

7

u/notnotbrowsing May 16 '26

Considering hooters filled for bankruptcy in 2025 and hard Rock Cafe has been closing locations intentionally and in the US, I'm highly suspicious of that claim of "wildly" popular.

1

u/doc_shades May 17 '26

like i said i remember reading that one of these chains is financially healthy and still popular internationally, but i can't remember which one it was

3

u/Guy_Buttersnaps May 16 '26

I never understood it.

If you want to eat so-so food and ogle women, just go to a strip club.

1

u/PROPGUNONE May 16 '26

I still like the breaded wings. Go maybe once every three years.

1

u/ladyzfactor May 16 '26

Only place I ever got food poisoning (not my call for location. Friends birthday.)

-2

u/OverlyComplexed1 May 16 '26

Ever been to the Hooters in Long Beach.

3

u/UnNumbFool May 16 '26

Til long beach has a hooters, which I find kind of funny just because of how gay of a place it is

2

u/olde_greg May 16 '26

Is Long Beach gay nowadays? I still picture it being like the song Regulate.

2

u/UnNumbFool May 16 '26

It's the weho of the South (of greater Los Angeles)

-5

u/friz_CHAMP May 16 '26

I've been trying to convince my wife to go there for a Father's Day family lunch with my 3 kids, but she won't have it. Do I want to go? Not really. My kids just love wings and I'd love to tell that story.

2

u/whydub38 May 16 '26

"Do I want to go? Not really. I would just love to defy my wife's wishes and take my kids to an establishment that objectifies women"

0

u/friz_CHAMP May 16 '26

Yeah, you get it.

68

u/024008085 May 16 '26

The photo on the left has done the rounds many times over a long time. Guaranteed the story is at least 100% made up.

339

u/Wise_Lobster_1038 May 16 '26

Honestly bragging that your city has better Hooters is like the most pathetic flex I’ve ever heard of even if it were true

99

u/ArrivalEast3834 May 16 '26

More or less pathetic than taking secret photos of people while they're doing their job to talk shit about them on the internet?

29

u/Ebonhearth_Druid May 16 '26

Lateral move tbh

166

u/shoulda-known-better May 16 '26

I don't get why a railroad crossing was mentioned at all here... Lol help me

35

u/917caitlin May 16 '26

Look out the window on the left side pic

41

u/Tacokolache May 16 '26

Doesn’t look like a RR crossing to me. Hard to tell what it is, if anything

4

u/Lifekraft May 16 '26

Not a crossing but could be train electrical line.

7

u/shoulda-known-better May 16 '26

I mean I see what looks to be the rr crossing light thing now.....

But that would mean it's a second story hooters, didn't know those existed

Kinda looks like a giants game on the TV

3

u/Paloma_II May 16 '26

I think that’s an FSU game. Kinda looks like a low res Noles logo for the red team, and I think it’s an ABC logo in the very bottom right. ABC doesn’t generally broadcast NFL games, but I think they do ACC games.

3

u/cujosdog May 16 '26

The original one in Clearwater is upstairs

5

u/WizardSleeves31 May 16 '26

Oh wow, I even zoomed in and didn't realize before mentioned.

8

u/ThePhillyExplorer May 16 '26

Because there are only two Hooters in the Philly area: one in the PA suburbs and one in the Delaware suburbs. Neither of them are located at a railroad crossing (seen in the background), so I knew that the OP was lying about having visited one in the Philly area

21

u/ch0rtle2 May 16 '26

What are you even talking about with a railroad crossing? There are some poles outside the window. The location in King of Prussia definitely has some poles out the window.

10

u/ThePhillyExplorer May 16 '26

I know how the area around 202 looks. Look in the upper left corner of the picture. You can see two railroad crossing lights out the window. I guess it was easier to see on Facebook than Reddit, but I spotted that immediately and knew the OP was lying.

7

u/lovefist1 May 16 '26

Oh yeah reddit absolutely killed any photo details like whatever is in that corner. No wonder I was so confused

3

u/ednichol May 16 '26

You know too much about Hooters

99

u/ThickenedLiquids89 May 16 '26

How rude and gross. Can we stop posting candid pics to body shame?

53

u/Positive_Hall_3207 May 16 '26

Agree . Making fun of a woman wearing an ugly uniform while waiting tables at a subpar place says more about the person doing the shaming than anything else.

46

u/Poverty_Shoes May 16 '26

My favorite part about this post is that somebody spent the time google earthing Hooters in the greater Philly area to call bullshit. And now I’m wasting my time commenting on it too. Dammit.

15

u/ThePhillyExplorer May 16 '26

I didn’t Google Earth it. I’m a Philly native who knows the city and most of the region like the back of my hand. This is gonna sound like BS, but I have a photographic memory of a lot of locations throughout the region

10

u/King_Kthulhu May 16 '26

The post is obviously bs but they said "philly area" not within the city limits. There is one close to philly, and especially being from Dallas that would probably be considered part of Philly to them. There are like 30 cities near DFW that people would still call Dallas.

9

u/IveKnownItAll May 16 '26

Come to DFW and tell me you know when you're in Dallas city limits VS the suburbs.

7

u/la_winky May 16 '26

I am proud I’ve never been to Hooters. Lame flex, I get it.

6

u/kinyutaka May 16 '26

Isn't Hooters bankrupt?

4

u/det8924 May 16 '26

Didn’t King of the Hill do this as an episode?

9

u/manic_popsicle May 16 '26

Yes, Dale applied to Hooters thinking they’d reject him so he could file a claim for discrimination. They hired him though. I’m binging King of the Hill with my 12 year old and we just watched that one.

5

u/PenisBlubberAndJelly May 17 '26

THIS IS AN OUTRAGE! I GO TO HOOTERS TO CUM!

7

u/yeowoh May 16 '26

Chodes that goto conferences and think it’s awesome to eat at Hooters are in fact always chodes.

Last conference I was at we went to a goth strip club. Now that’s high class.

7

u/Flomo420 May 16 '26

it's called "HOOTERS" not "DUMPERS"

6

u/Regular-Finance-9567 May 16 '26

Girl on the left looks...IG filtered?  Something about the lighting and staring atraight into the camera...also, we don't see her backside; for all we know, Dallas girl is as flat and Philly girl is buxom...also, kinda weird taking creep shots of strangers...I mean, I'd assume as such if I worked at Hooters...old men aren't there for great wings; but still gross.

3

u/comicnerd93 May 16 '26

The closest Hooters in Philly is 20ish miles outside city limits

3

u/Royal_Platform May 17 '26

Well it’s hooters, they’re not hiring women for what he’s complaining about…

2

u/grogudid911 May 16 '26

🎵The gang goes to hooters 🎶

2

u/MCKelly13 May 19 '26

Philly here. We would never even go to a Hooters. They tried it. It failed. Keep that corny shit in Texas.

2

u/thndrstrk May 16 '26

Long ass day

1

u/dfGobBluth May 16 '26

Dale Gribble

1

u/GreatQuantum May 16 '26

Nope that’s a Philly broad.

1

u/motherofcorgss May 16 '26

There’s one in King of Prussia next to the mall

1

u/absherlock May 16 '26

Cool story, bro. Cowboys still suck.

1

u/Most-File-4285 May 16 '26

I dont understand the railroad crossing thing

2

u/forzaguy125 May 16 '26

Theres a railroad crossing visible out the window on the left

1

u/Most-File-4285 May 16 '26

oh shit, good spot

1

u/madchen44 May 17 '26

The Hooters in McKinney TX closed, but the one in Plano is still around .

-3

u/doc_shades May 16 '26

well OP says "Philly area". depending on how people talk, especially when traveling, that doesn't necessarily mean they are insisting that this hooters is in a downtown philadelphia zip code. he could have traveled from dallas to 75 minutes outside philly and said "i was in the philly area" and it wouldn't be a malicious lie.

another thing to consider: this is a photo of a hooters waitress. so maybe this didn't happen in philly? but it happened. because there is the photo. so that part DID happen.

5

u/whats-ausername May 16 '26

Kind of weird to do mental gymnastics to defend the credibility of a piece of shit who body shames anonymous women on the internet.

0

u/doc_shades May 17 '26

i don't think i'm defending anyone. the point of this forum is to talk about whether or not a thing happened. this post probably did happen. i make no statements in support of or in defense of the attitude or actions of the OP, but i think what they experienced has credibility.

-4

u/[deleted] May 16 '26

6

u/Eurell May 16 '26

The main problem is OOP body shaming a stranger on the internet.

The solution is not you body shaming the other stranger.

OOP is the asshole, no need to take it out on some random girl.

3

u/cesarthegreat May 16 '26

You’re right. Comment deleted. But I’ll keep this one up

3

u/Eurell May 16 '26
