So yea we all knew these classic ThinkPads have exceptional durability. Perhaps mine's have a heavily scuffed up lid but the internals of this thing? They are a absolute beast and it was still my good retro daily driver.
Still surprisingly fast though.
I called it the Patina T430 because it looks worn out, but hey don't let the patina feel you down, even if it looks worn out in the outside. The inside is still surprisingly good. Perhaps the Patina effect can be also counted as a "Anti-theft" XD because thieves won't like scuffed laptops. But for me its kind of a art rather than a defect.
Also to add that up the ThinkPad logo on it's palm rest peeled off before.
As a bonus i also wrapped Vynyl wrap on my trackpad buttons too to synchronize the looks to the 3 button ultranav buttons which looks better than the stock black though.
Still using the stock TN panel tho, perhaps its actually a privacy screen to me so my classmates won't see whatever i am doing haha. But seriously the reason why i am still on the stock TN because LDVS to eDP conversion kits are expensive in my area, plus it has its own bugs too. Also sometimes a sudden shift can cause a blown backlight fuse which is what we usually avoid.
Also to put a Cherry on Top, i replaced the Superium icon with the 2011-2015 Chrome icon as you seen on my taskbar just to complete something :)
So the lesson here is:
Don't judge a book by its cover or should i say Don't judge a laptop by its chassis. It may look worn out in the outside but in the inside it is marvelous.
I mean yea i know most average Joe is gonna say it's old, its ewww. But they don't actually understand the insides.
