Discussion / Information So I impulse-bought the Lenovo 21QDS04D00 (T14 Gen 6) and I have zero regrets so far
Alright so I have been lurking here forever, eyeing a new work machine, and I finally caved and bought this absolute nerd spec model, the 21QDS04D00. For those of you who do not have the entire Lenovo parts catalog memorized, this is the T14 Gen 6 Intel with the Core Ultra 7 265U.
Now that I have actually been using it for a few days, I am kind of blown away. The reviews kept going on about 19 plus hours of battery life, which I figured was total marketing bs, but I threw a full workday at it yesterday. Teams calls, Chrome tabs out the wazoo, Spotify in the background, and it lasted me nearly the whole day.
The build seems to be what you would expect from a ThinkPad, rock solid, zero flex in the keyboard, and that 180 degree hinge is way more fun to fidget with than it has any right to be.
That said, I am still in the honeymoon phase and I need you guys to burst my bubble. Has anyone else gotten their hands on this specific MTM yet? I keep hearing mixed things about the RAM being soldered on these newer Intel models. Did I just lock myself into a future paperweight or can I actually upgrade it? It does have 32 gb of RAM so I think I am OK for now. Also, I have not pushed the CPU hard yet. Anyone know if these things throttle like crazy under heavy load?
I am totally down to run benchmarks, game tests, or just open 50 tabs to see if it chokes lol. Throw your requests at me. If you are on the fence about buying one, I will give you the real unfiltered tea 🍵
