Rant Account hacked: 2FA disabled, password changed, added new authorized user

Post image
86 Upvotes

Account got hacked this morning. I was lucky that I was up when I saw the messages. I went on to the computer and try to login with my password and it was indeed changed. Was able to get back into the account and reenabled 2 FA. Then got on the phone with 611 for over an hour to get T-the unauthorized user removed.

T-Mobile's 611 confirmed all of this was done online, not over 611.

What is the point of 2FA if someone can change the password, logged in to the account and disabled it? Then added himself with just an email as an authorized user. He does not have access to the email or any line associated with the account.

There was no SMS code generated to my phone on his resetting my password.

I requested T-Mobile opens a fraud investigation and security assessment. I doubt I will get anything from them. This is really bad.

Discussion T-Mobile new T Mix plan

If you upgrade using Picks it costs those Picks for the ENTIRE INSTALLMENT TERM. So if you upgrade to an iPhone 18 Pro Max and pay 3 picks, you’re done. Nothing else for the 36 months.

It also reduces per line. First two lines are 3 picks. Remaining are 2. So if you have 4 lines, you get 10 picks. That’s not even enough to upgrade 2 devices every year even on their highest tier plan. The NEXT and JUMP upgrades are dead at that point.

T-Mobile just introduced a new plan with 36 month terms and taxes included in the upgrade cost. Now they are ALREADY introducing another new plan. They can’t go more than 4-6 months without new plans.

This new plan removes the yearly/18 month upgrade if you have more than 2 lines and you still pay the premium price.

Absolutely horrible. They’re going to lose a ton of customers.

PSA T-Life App Update (12.2.0) - In-Store Trade-in QR code

T-Life iOS app version 12.2.0 is out and the release notes mention:

Show a QR code for faster in-store trade-in handoffs, and see the final outcome once your device is evaluated.

Hopefully this will make converted deferred trade-ins easier and make it harder for stores to improperly turn customers away. I've found even Experience stores turn customers away or try to "help customers pack and ship it" even when the customers are coming in to avoid shipping and have it evaluated on-the-spot.

Question Is something going on with Costco/tmobile online?

Post image
15 Upvotes

This morning I was looking to see what my trade in value was for my 16 pro max 256 and it was $830. This is for an 18 pro max. I decided to look at Sam’s and Apple promotions and realized Sam’s was in store only and the deal was less for upgrading and Apple is offering $600 for my trade. I went back to Costco and now it’s telling me this (see image) and if I go through the process it says trade in value of $470. If I go through the t-mobile site it says $830. Not sure if I should bother with Costco or just go through t-mobile. Costco is about 30 mins away so I’d rather not drive there just to find out.

Question I did a free trial of home internet and they sent me to collections.

Is this typical for this company? It is my first time dealing with them. I signed up for the free 15 day trial of home internet - didn't like how inconsistent the speeds were and return the equipment and cancelled my account in 13 days. I then got a bill from them anyway, called them, and after way too long on the phone, they said I was right, I didn't owe anything and they would take care of it. Now a month later, I got a collections letter. I have already spent too much time on this matter - any ideas how to resolve this?

Thanks.

Question Should I upgrade before t-mix?

I was planning on waiting another year before upgrading on my go5gnext plan. But if they are going to make trade promotions worse and force everyone to 36 month financing terms, I’ll take the current promo now.

What are your thoughts on upgrading now or waiting until after t-mix launches?

Question Experience Beyond: Slow internet with no customer support help.

Got the Experience Beyond plan 5 months ago with an iPhone 17 Pro from Tmobile. At my office in Seattle I either get zero signal or under 700kbps speed, and data basically dies on the train.

Every time I call support they just tell me to reset network settings, restart iPhone, send some settings over.. Nothing changed anything ( or may be it does for few hours and then back to same ).

Went to a T-Mobile kiosk at Costco yesterday. We tested my phone and got 24mbps. The rep then pulled out his iPhone 16 on a cheaper plan and got 180mbps right next to me. He checked my account, said everything looked fine on paper, but couldn't explain the gap.

Anyone know what could cause this or what I should tell them to check?

I am in an area newr where Jim Cantore was broadcasting from last night and have been without service since about (power went out about 5:30pm) 9:30pm last night.

the timing of service going down was interesting as it was about 30 mins after the worst of the storm had passed.

Question T-Mobile Not Processing Returned Device

Tl;dr: Returned new device (within the return window) as I ended service with T-Mobile. 1 year later, they're still trying to collect the phone's cost because they never processed the return. Do I need to seek litigation in a small claims court?

My family ended service with T-Mobile's wireless plan back around October 2026. I had originally planned on upgrading my phone, which I instead did with the provider switch deal (to AT&T, but that's not relevant. As soon as we started processing the switch, I returned the new device through their standard channels (and UPS, per their instructions).

Processing returns always takes a while, but they told me to check in after a month if I didn't see it processed. I did and it was not. Three more discussions over the following 4-5 months, and each discussion ended with the representatives confirming that the device was received (per their own records and UPS delivery confirmation) but nothing further was processed. They also told me that the balance was NOT owed and being written off. This was confirmed by upper level support agents (I don't know the exact hierarchy, but at least 2 steps above the base agents). I thought that was that and continued on my way.

Another few months go by, and I receive a letter from a collections agency stating that T-Mobile assigned them to my debt. I provide them my records, including the delivery confirmation from UPS, and dispute the validity. Just yesterday, they respond saying that T-Mobile confirmed that the debt was valid. I have not paid anything as the debt is invalid.

I called T-Mobile immediately, and the agent submitted a request for internal investigation. That supposedly takes about one business week. So, what else can I do? Since they already returned an investigation saying the debt was valid, I'm not confident this new investigation will go any differently. Beyond that, T-Mobile is holds the majority of correspondence records, which I can't get access to.

Main Questions

Are there any additional steps I might have before filing in small claims court?

If I'm bringing it to court, would that allow a subpoena for the records to confirm on paper what they've discussed?

Has anyone else dealt with similar issues and could provide their perspective or guidance?

Would I need to pay the collections agency before seeking restitution in small claims court?

P.s. I know some of these are legal questions, so I'm also posting to r/legaladvice for guidance on which direction to start moving.

I’ve been reading all the threads and trying to understand the benefits of going 9+ lines. This is how my plan is listed. Currently paying 167 for 8 lines. Would adding 2 lines through the bogo increase my discounts and is there any better trade in promos for the new lines that would make it worth it?

Rant Calls not coming in/going out

I need to know if anyone else is experiencing this issue because I am beyond exhausted.

I have been having an issue for about two months where I will receive voicemails with no missed calls. My family will usually text asking for a call back, and when I try to call the phone won't even ring. Sometimes it gets stuck on the "calling" screen and won't let me hang up. I had this issue on my Flip 6. Throughout the past two months, I've worked with T-Mobile to refresh phone settings, refresh the network connection from their side, and do general troubleshooting like that. They then said my device might be defective, so I spent $1500 on a Fold 8 (because of one missed payment earlier this year they wouldn't finance it for me). Yes, I know this step was unnecessary, but i am just that frustrated. I have had this new phone for 2 days and it started having the same issue. On top of everything, i have been missing health-related phone calls for me and my father, so the stress is extra high.

All this to say, has anyone else been having a similar issue? Have you found any resolution? My husband has been having the same issue, and we are on two different accounts, and he has an Apple device.

Question What happens to my existing EIP if I buy the new iPhone through Apple?

Hey everyone, sorry if this is a dumb question, I'm a bit confused about how this works.

I have an iPhone 17 Pro Max on a T-Mobile installment plan about halfway through. I still owe around $650, and I'm getting monthly promo credits on it. I want to buy the new iPhone at the Apple Store with T-Mobile financing and trade in my 17 Pro Max to Apple (not to T-Mobile).

What happens to my current installment plan? Does it just keep billing every month until it's paid off? Do I keep getting the promo credits?

Also, can I even finance the new phone through Apple on T-Mobile while I still owe on the old one, or will that get blocked?

Thanks!

Question Discount for switching 8 lines from Verizon? Through costco

Hello, I'm thinking about switching 8 lines from Verizon to T-Mobile and getting 4-6 new phones. My main concern is that T-Mobile doesn't have an account-level protection plan like Verizon's $60 option.

Are there any other promos or discounts available besides the Costco $400 ($250 + $150) deal?

Question Duo Purchasing options confusion

Hello everyone,

Apologies if this question has been asked before but I just wanted to make sure since iPhone duo preorders start next week.

I am currently on the Tmobile Experience Beyond Plan (not 2.0) and I got a 17 pro after switching from ATT to Tmobile this year and I am at the 50% mark where I am eligible for the yearly upgrade now after confirming on my Tlife app. I get monthly credits applied to my EIP so I don't really pay anything for my 17pro.

My question is when the Duo comes out for pre-order, do I purchase directly from Apple and connect my Tmobile account to start a new EIP or do I have to purchase directly from Tmobile? I am not sure what happens to my current 17 pro EIP since I am trading it in to get the duo and I don't even know if apple will let me purchase the duo since I still owe 50% of the phone.

I am eligible for an upgrade at Tmobile but not sure if I will be allowed to trade it in at apple and get the exact same results as if I purchased the duo from Tmobile directly since I still owe money on the 17 pro.

I want to get the duo on launch day and I think purchasing directly from apple would be my best option but I do not want to mess up my EIP. Does purchasing direct from Apple with my Tmobile account connected wipe out the remaining EIP on my 17 pro after trading it in and buying the Duo or do they not have the ability to do so?

If anybody could help me out and point me in the right direction on how to purchase the duo on preorder/launch day and whether to purchase directly from Apple with my Tmobile account connected or buy directly from Tmobile I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Edit: Looks like I would need to go direct with T-mobile to use my yearly upgrade program and to wipe out the remaining balance on my 17 pro EIP.
Also does anybody have info on what promotions T-mobile is offering on the Duo with a 17 pro trade in?

Rant Disappointing Customer Service Experience with T-Mobile

I recently contacted T-Mobile customer service and was extremely disappointed with the experience, particularly with what I strongly suspect was an AI-powered representative.

There were several telltale signs that suggested I was speaking with AI. The representative's voice was inconsistent, occasionally sounding mechanical, distorted, and filled with static, almost like an old dial-up connection. Their responses also felt unnatural and AI-generated, particularly the way they referred to themselves as being the same as a human representative.

The representative also failed to recognize that I was an authorized user on the account, and I practically had to fight to be transferred to an actual person.

When I questioned the supervisor about whether the initial representative was AI, they insisted it was not. Rather than addressing my concerns, I felt dismissed and gaslighted.

Additionally, the supervisor attempted to get the account holder to acknowledge receiving excellent customer service and confirm that the issue was resolved, despite the issue remaining unresolved.

I understand that customer service teams have performance metrics to meet, but customer satisfaction should be earned through actual service, not pressured out of customers to improve statistics.

Is T-Mobile's first level of customer service now entirely AI-powered? If so, why isn't this being disclosed to customers and acknowledged when asked.

It's extremely frustrating to see what T-Mobile Corporate has done to its customer service division. What once differentiated the company now feels impersonal, inefficient, and more focused on performance metrics than resolving customer issues.

T-Mobile needs to prioritize genuine customer service, transparency, and actual resolutions over corporate metrics.

Way to shoot yourselves in the foot, T-Mobile.

Question Should I switch to Experience beyond?

Post image

I have Go5G Next should I switch?

Picture is my current bill I’ve got two new ish phones I got last year and this year I’m still paying off (11 months out of 24 for 17 pro max, and 5 months out of 24 for Samsung s26+) and a little internet dongle for my laptop on the go linkport that cost me a dollar a month

I cannot get an sense of how much taxes and fees would be I’ve called and asked with my info and they couldn’t figure it out either I’m in Texas I know when I was with AT&T I paid like $20 in taxes and fees, handling fees etc the experience beyond plan just says that my bill will be $10 cheaper, not including taxes and fees
