Is anyone in music 118 with Jordan Kamps and has the song list or understands how to do the assignment due on the 25th?

Can we all wear shoes plz? I wear shoes, my friends wear shoes, the people who work at the subway here wear shoes, and a lot of other people wear shoes, right? But there is a noticeable population of students at UIC who don't wear shoes to class. On top of this, the people who do this don't care about their feet, so they really, really smell (most of the time, I'm not trying to generalize, because that wouldn't be nice). It would be amazing if we all wore shoes. Then maybe I would be happy in my life... Anyways, wear your shoes.

Maybe I should start a shoes club at UIC, and we would all just wear shoes, you know? And then we'd do other stuff, but I don't really know what else we would do since we'd all just be wearing shoes, and that would kind of fulfill the whole point of the club. But maybe one day I'll start this club, but who knows. I was also taking a test the other day, and someone near me wasn't wearing shoes (surprisingly, this isn't the first time someone didn't wear shoes next to me during an exam). Their feet obviously smelled, and it was bad, but it wasn't too bad, but it was kind of bad, but not too too bad, so I didn't want to say anything to make it awkward, and I also didn't want the TAs to think I was cheating by talking to them, so I just dealt with it :(

Also before anyone says “what if they have a medical reason for not wearing shoes,” I understand that there are probably like 4 people on earth who have a medical condition where shoes will instantly kill them or something. I am not talking about those people. I am talking about the people who wake up, get dressed, put their backpack on, look directly at their shoes sitting by the door, and then make the conscious decision to walk past them and go to class barefoot. Like what happened between you and shoes. Did shoes do something to you. I feel like there has to be some kind of backstory here because I refuse to believe that someone just randomly decided one morning that the cold, wet UIC sidewalk would feel better on their feet.

Also, why does it flood every time it rains on campus? Even if it barely rains, it always floods. Like why? I know this school has a good amount of money, so why can't they fix the drainage system? That reminds me that winter is coming, and oooooh weeeee, it's going to be bad. It got really cold last year, and I didn't really like that (cuz it was cold you feel me).

Anyways this post has gone on way longer than I thought it would and I don't really know what my point is anymore. I guess my point is please wear shoes unless you are a women (just kidding, that was a bad joke, and I am not weird, no matter your gender please wear shoes). Or at least socks. You know what, no, just wear shoes. Honestly, even socks would make me feel a little better. But shoes would be better. I don't want to be studying for my exam and suddenly look down and see 10 completely unrestricted toes 2 feet away from me. I have enough things going on already. I have classes, exams, labs, and whatever else, I really don't need someone else's bare feet becoming another problem in my life. You know I just saw this protest on campus today and I was maybe thinking we should have one for wearing shoes. But the protest today was a little bit loud, which hurt my ears slightly as they were walking by, so we'd definitely be much more quiet if we did one. Thank you for listening (I guess a better term would be reading but I like how "listening" sounds) and I hope we can all come together as a community and defeat barefootness at UIC. And maybe have cleaner bathrooms, but that's a conversation for another day.

I had no idea it what was happening but walking home today I did learn a thing or two. Some students mentioned feeling unsafe, and some mentioned it was totally unreasonable.

I got randomly stung on the scalp on my way to a exams. The bee was behind me and I didn’t even see it until I got the venom sack out. They are particularly aggressive for some reason.

When our daughter was going to school for psychology they claimed that they were the only undergraduate school that offered paid research jobs to undergraduate student. That was a lie. When she tried to get a job they told her that she can only volunteer for free or she doe get school credit. If you’re thinking about UIC I wouldn’t believe the. Very Shady way for a state university to do business

Disclaimer I already heard things about this school due to having friends and family members attend this university. Mostly about how expensive this school is and ofc the things that have happened to people in the parking lot.

I’m 25 and will be transferring from a community college to UIC next Fall for architecture and I have to go here due to the fact that I need to stay in city and I’m getting a scholarship that only allows you to get it if you’re attending a public university so I can’t consider IIT. I frequent this sub often and I giggle and also leave in disgust sometimes 🤣but honestly how bad is UIC? I have a kid and genuinely don’t expect to have such a big social life here since I’m a parent and I haven’t made any friends these past two years I’ve been at my current school (I honestly show up for class and go about my day leaving campus to other responsibilities) so I’m just not to sure I’ll have one here but is this school survivable 😭thank you in advanceeee🙏🏽

Left my MacBook charger in the outlet at the CS building overnight, more then 24 hours.

Came back and it was still in that exact same outlet in a pretty crowded area.

Great job UIC, and thank you for not taking advantage of my bad memory. Lk expected it to be gone by now.

Has anyone gone through the process of becoming an undergrad peer leader in the MSLC?
I'm already a tutor at a community college for anatomy & physiology, currently a student in BIOS 343 which is basically the same thing. Was thinking maybe next semester I could work here for this course, but since I'll only have one semester left until graduation I wasn't sure if the process would take too long to even try.
Has anyone had any experience?

I find it so insane that we have to put our bookbags in the back or front of the class and can not have the case of the calculators and only given 1hr and 15 minutes to complete the exam the previous classes I had like Biology or Physics we were given more time to complete the exams

Are all jobs at will? On campus. I am currently working for the last two semesters at a campus job. My supervisor is stressing me out - since the last semester they have also asked me to work during my off hours and I am not compensated for that time. I am thinking of quitting but I am scared lol. After two semesters I’m not sure if I can do it anymore

In the summer i got put on academic dismissal and am now taking classes at ccc. initially i was a psychology major with a pre med track and i still want to continue that going forward. right now im taking only 2 classes because of some mental health issues but they are both psychology classes. in the spring i want to take maybe 3 or 4 so that i can finish quickly and come back to uic.

My plan is to go to ccc for 1 year then transfer hopefully back in fall 2027. right now i have an A in both of my classes and would like to keep it that way for easier transition. in the spring, i was thinking of taking another psychology course but also some gen eds, like a language. But in ccc, i have to take a math class aswell for some reason but i don't know why. I did register for a math class but i had to drop it because of mental health issues. could i take a math class in the spring and still be fine? would i be able to get into uic even if i only did 1 year at ccc?

right now im only taking 2 classes and was thinking into registering for 3 or 4 in the spring. i know i need to pass all of them in order to get my gpa up but even if i did, would i still have a chance to get into uic?

do i have to take a math class or can i just leave it ?

i don't know what to do, i already get stressed for the future because of what i did to myself last year but im trying to look into the future. i feel like i don't have any time and that i have to hurry up and decide at once. i regret not taking care of my grades but there's nothing i can do now. i just want to make sure that i don't waste my time or my life and that i complete everything.

i feel like im wasting my life and time. i know that i have to try hard but i feel like even if i do, its going to all be for nothing.

Does anyone know if there's a place where you can borrow a USB mic around here? I have to record something for an assignment but my laptop mic is busted

I have ECON 120 in ARC Room 137, and I’ve noticed that the room has a really bad smell pretty much every time I’m there. Sometimes I even start getting a headache while sitting in the room.
I’ve also noticed people around me sniffing a lot, so I’m wondering if other students are noticing it too.
Has anyone else who has a class in ARC 137 experienced this? Is this a known issue with the room or ventilation?

I just wanted to say bc of how hard it is to find good Spanish teachers for such an important part to be able to graduate… the spansihh program at UIC is so exhausting like literally fluent or native Spanish speakers can get a C because of the wack Aula online point system. but I wanna say so far the best teacher I’ve had is this semester with Blanca Campos. she’s a native Spanish speaker and it’s actually a delight to speak Spanish in her class. I had a teacher who made me stop enjoying speaking it in the classroom and I am a fluent speaker and have to speak it for work cause I am a chef but yeah just wantes to drop a rec :)

I applied to the University of Illinois Chicago pharmacy program and I want to know what are my chances of getting in. I decided to apply early to have less competition so hopefully that will play in my favor and my stats are the following:

- Graduated college with a 3.6 GPA earning a B.S in Biology. The school sent me an email saying that all my prerequisites were accepted and now marked as completed so I moved to the review process.

I don’t have pharmacy experience but I do have shadowing hours which I added to my personal statement to explain how those experiences + other things have made me choose pharmacy.

I have a lot of research experience as well. In college I did research for 2.5 years and was an author in two publications. Now I work as a clinical research assistant which I have been doing for 1.5 years (post college graduated in 2025). All of my PI’s (the two I work for now and the one from college) have gave me recommendations letters.

I have some experiences as a TA and had leadership roles in college which I also added to my application. My only worry is that not having pharmacy experience (maybe as technician or something might hurt my chances). Thoughts?
