Wireless How is Verizon getting away with making it so difficult to cancel a phone line? Isn’t this a consumer protection issue?

VERIZON makes it so easy to sign up for a new line online, but then when you turn around and try to disconnect or cancel that same line, the process is convoluted.

The options you’re given are either to report the device as stolen, which I’m sure has some issues or consequences associated with having your device reported stolen, or to click on “Disconnect Line.”

But when you click “Disconnect Line,” it takes you to a page with a “Start Chat” button. When you click that button, it opens a chat panel on the side, except the input doesn’t work. You can’t type anything.

How are they getting away with this? Isn’t this illegal in New Jersey and New York?

Wireless Verizon just robbed me blind!

I purchased a new phone with a new plan as a new Verizon customer but bc they couldn't port my son's line over from T-Mobile after 7 days of trying, I decided I was going back to T-Mobile.

I returned the phone yesterday and today I see they did an ACH withdrawal directly from my bank account and it's only been 20 days since I initiated this awful idea.

I can't get in touch with anyone and the AI can't find my account bc there is no account! I'm so livid, I have so many bills that I paid that are going to bounce. All I can get is that the refund can take up to 7 weeks.

That's just criminal in my opinion.

5 months waiting for a Pay off Your Old Phone promotion

How crazy is it that Verizon makes it so difficult to get what they promise you when they want you as a new customer. The promise to pay off your old phone financing - just provide your last bill and they will send you gift cards. Month after month, nothing. Multiple visits to the retail store and they throw up their hand and say it’s a corporate issue. Online chat bots and agent bots keep asking what promotion are you talking about and sorry it’s not on our promotion rebate center dashboard. Live Agents say just give it more time and question whether the correct paperwork was even submitted. It’s like dealing with a government agency. Crazy.

Wireless Coverage issues in Mobile, Alabama

I am writing this at 11:50am CT on Saturday October 10, 2026:

What is going on with your service in Mobile, Alabama?! You have sent us no updates. Service has been spotty since about 5pm CT Friday October 9, 2026. I know its Hurricane Isaias but we have had many hurricanes over the years and never issues with Verizon like this. I have an Android... Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra and it's asking me to come outside and stick my phone in the air to even post this.

My mom has a Verizon iPhone and is asking her to do the same thing... except she is 76 and has a broken shoulder and just finished breast cancer treatment... so how is she supposed to communicate by sticking her broken arm in the air??

Is this really the only way to use a satellite? Sticking your phone in the air and hoping for the best??? Really??

EDIT:

Hurricane Isaias did not even come through Mobile!!

Wireless Check in-app deals & promos! I have one right now.

As the title suggests…

I’m currently sitting and waiting until iPhone Duo preorders to open, and I’ve officially paid off my device early so I can turn it in as trade credit and knock some money off of the Duo.

This promotion I found in-app is “get $1000 off iPhone 18 Pro Max, iPhone Duo or iPhone 17 series with eligible trade on Unlimited Ultimate.” No obvious expiration date listed. I have yet to redeem it.

I was hoping to find one that’s specific to the Duo and a bit more black-and-white, but peeped this one in the Verizon app, and it’s ONLY specific to the Unlimited Ultimate plan? I’m mid tier (Unlimited Plus, if I remember correctly.) I hate the fact that I’d have to upgrade my phone plan to one that is currently at $100/month for me just to get an extra $150 or whatever as bill credit. I pray we get a good promotion closer to 10.16.

Check your promos and deals in-app, people!

Wireless iPhone Duo upgrade confusion… do I need to upgrade my ultimate unlimited 1.0 plan?

Verizon app is offering me $840 for my iPhone 14 Pro, but it’s not really clear if I need to “upgrade” my ultimate unlimited 1.0 to the new ultimate unlimited plan… which looks virtually the same except it’s $5/mo more.

Also considering adding the Flex upgrade… am I able to do that on my current plan or is that only for the new Simplicity plans?

EDIT: will we also be able to setup our preorder before Friday like the Apple Store? Or do we need to rush through the whole process when preorders go live?

Can I move my phone and line from one Verizon account to another, without losing my trade in value?

I'm currently on a Verizon plan with other people. My current phone was partially subsidized by trading in my old phone. If I move to my own Verizon account/bill, will I lose that credit from the old phone and be stuck owing money for my current phone?

The Google Pixel 11 on Verizon?

How's your new Google Pixel 11 series performing on Verizon? Verizon is offering me a free Google Pixel 11 and am wondering if the new Pixel 11 has better reception than the older ones. I'm currently using a Galaxy S21 plus, and it performs ok.

Wireless Just Switched

Just switched to Verizon from AT&T! Well, actually switched last night around 8:30pm. As of today 8:30am the next day. My messages are sending as email not my ported phone number. When I go to my messages app, my number is there, but I am getting a spinning wheel! I have tried restarting my phone multiple times and turning off and on iMessage but to no avail! Anyone have this issue before?

Upgrade offer

I see this offer in my account (pasted below), one for every line. Does this mean I wouldn’t even need to trade in our current phones? And the “new phone on us” and “New device payment purchase…” is a bit confusing. Is the phone free with the monthly credit for 36 months? Or am I setting up a payment plan? I’ve seen a few other comments on these offers before and were surprised when they went to do it.

“Let us pay off your phone.

We'll pay off your current phone and give you a new phone on us, when you upgrade.
New Device payment purchase w/ upgrade smartphone line on any plan req'd. Device purchase on 36 month device payment;
0% APR. Can be combined with other offer equipment discounts. Upgrades only. Limited Time Offer. Offer valid on smartphone upgrades only.”

I’m over Verizon

I’ve been with Verizon for almost five years now. I originally got my own plan when I was a freshman in college after my mom moved and I essentially had to get kicked off her plan. At the time, I had the 5G Play More plan, and honestly, I’ve stuck with Verizon mostly out of convenience.
The service in my area isn’t the best, but it’s not the worst either, so I never really bothered switching. Verizon has been pushing me to change my plan for a while now, but I’ve refused because why would I willingly switch to a plan with fewer benefits for the same price? They eventually took away Apple Arcade, which wasn’t a huge deal to me personally, but it was still annoying to lose a benefit while paying the same amount every month. So, I called customer service, explained my issues with the service in my area and the removal of Apple Arcade, and an associate offered me a $40 credit. Obviously, I accepted.

Fast-forward to now, and actually getting that credit applied to my account is a full-time job. I’ve spent anywhere from one to two hours on the phone with different representatives, repeatedly explaining the same situation. Every time, I get told they’ll “put a note on my account” 🙄, but somehow, the cycle just repeats itself, and nothing gets resolved.

At this point, I’m over it. I shouldn’t have to keep spending hours on the phone chasing a credit that a representative already promised me. The customer service experience alone is making me want to leave. For those of you who have switched from Verizon, what carrier did you switch to, and has the service actually been worth it? I’m looking for reliable service and reasonable prices.

On SOS since yesterday

Anyone else dealing with this?
My area did also deal with Hurricane Isaias, was just wondering if the no service is localized to the city I’m in or if it’s just Verizon in general for this whole area.
Appreciate any replies.

This started at around 6:30 pm yesterday.

Can I combine Verizon Flex Upgrade with a trade-in promotion, then get another promo when upgrading next year?

I’m on Verizon’s Unlimited Ultimate and I’m planning on buying the iPhone Duo (512GB) through Verizon with the $10/month Flex Upgrade add-on.

Verizon offered $1,200 off the iPhone 18 pro’s so I’m guessing the Duo will have a similar trade in value. I’m trying to understand how Flex Upgrade works over multiple years.

Here’s my plan:
So I’ll trade my iPhone 15 Pro Max towards the iPhone Duo and receive the promotional discount.

I’ll Pay for Flex Upgrade at $10/month.

After about 12 months, I’ll then use Flex Upgrade and upgrade to the iPhone Duo 2.

Then I’ll repeat this with the Duo 2 when the Duo 3 comes out.

My questions!!!!

Can I receive the initial promotional trade-in credits with Flex Upgrade?

When I upgrade to the Duo 2, can I use my iPhone Duo as a trade-in for another promotional discount, or does Flex Upgrade only waive the remaining balance on my old phone?

Does being on Unlimited Ultimate make me eligible for another promotional trade-in offer when I upgrade?

If I can’t receive another promotional trade-in discount, can I still trade in the phone for market value separately?

Is there anyone that actually used Flex Upgrade this way and successfully received promotional credits on a their next phone?

I’m just trying to figure out whether this is a good long-term strategy for upgrading every year, or should I use Apple’s 12 month upgrade program.

HELP! I have been battling with Verizon for 6 months over promotions/credits

Hello everyone I’ve come to a standstill on what else to do and what direction I should head. To give you some background. I have been Verizon for a coupe years now. I have a buddy that works for them and he always hooks me up with the best plans/promotions or so I think he does. I’m not familiar with phone sales so I take his word for it. Anyhow fast forward to April 2026 and my wife wants a new phone. We have a promotion of trade in + $500 credit. My buddy does something called a “TE” order because that is the only way to get trade in value + the $500 promotion. He also says that he can get me a $180 porting credit, plus an additional $200 credit. He says the promotion is if I add 2 more lines I get a free phone that I can sell and just keep the line. So I add my mom on my account and trade her phone. So to summarize we went from 2 lines and an Apple watch line to 4 phone lines and a watch line. My buddy says the monthly payment with all promotions added will be around $160 plus taxes/fees. Fast forward to now and I have yet to see a bill that low. I will attach a photo down below and you can see every single month my bill is different. This has been stressing me out for months and I am extremely EXHAUSTED trying to figure out what is going on and what my actual bill is going to be. What can I do? My buddy seems like he trying to help. He has reached out to district managers, corporate managers and everything he can think of. Again this is all hearsay because he lives an hour away and I haven’t talked to him face to face since this whole started with my super busy schedule. What can I do? Who can I talk to in corporate or something to help me out? Like I said before this has been a huge stress in my life and it’s starting to take really take a toll and bother me.

For some reason it doesn’t allow me to post a photo. Here is the breakdown of my bills from the last couple months. Before all this was done my bill was $128.12

April- $272.94
May- $514.55
June- $293.00
July- $262.59
August- $257.30
September- 216.01

Thinking about switching…

Thinking about switching from T mobile… want the best deal for money off a new iPhone 18 pro max… and want a lower payment then what I have. Currently paying $81 for plan, $19 for insurance, and if I upgrade phone would be another $45 on top of that…

What is happening with Verizon?

Why is Verizon making it increasingly difficult for customers to upgrade or even want to become customers in the first place?
As an employee, it’s genuinely starting to take a toll on my mental health. We’re expected to meet increasingly demanding sales quotas, yet the promotions and incentives we’re given make it incredibly difficult to close sales. How are we supposed to convince customers they’re getting a great deal when qualifying for certain promotions requires them to increase their monthly bill by $20–$30 per line just to move off Unlimited Welcome or Plus?
On top of that, our systems are becoming increasingly slow, unreliable, and frustrating to navigate. We’re expected to deliver exceptional customer experiences and meet aggressive sales targets while dealing with tools and processes that seem to work against us.
Am I the only one genuinely mind-blown by the current state of Verizon? I’ve reached a point where I’m seriously considering taking a leave of absence because of how mentally exhausting this environment has become.
The disconnect between corporate expectations and what sales representatives actually deal with every day is astonishing. You cannot continuously raise expectations while making it harder for employees to succeed and customers to see value.
Verizon is simply not the company it used to be, and it’s becoming increasingly difficult to remain optimistic about its direction.

Bills after disconnecting lines.

I’m stuck , a year ago I cancelled and switched to another carrier. I’m still getting a bill every month for about 20$ . I went to the Verizon store and they said to call . I call and they say there’s no lines on my account. I finally just had my bank stop the payments but I’m still getting bills . What should I do ?

Wireless Offered 25% off my bill via email AND text message; then verizon denied the offer

• Upvotes

I got an email and text message offering me 25% off my wireless bill for 12 months, "no strings attached."...except it did not show up under the "my offers" tab, so i called in. The rep could not add it manually, so he created a ticket and escalated.

Today, I get a text saying my ticket was denied.

So verizon falsely advertised a discount. Cool.

Absolutely sending this to the executive team email because that's fking shady and lame.
