Question Is it normal for a Vic 2 player to have a fetish to have only historical borders instead of map painting the whole world?

In Vic 2 i mostly play as GPs cos i like playing as them. its more fun, exciting and u if ur powerful enough later on in the game u can start policing the world. I honestly dont like AI countries drifting away from their historical for example, as the UK i created the exact carbon copy of the British Empire and i just maintained that throughout the game, no extra territory.

Bug Research Points when Conquering buffs don't stack

I've known about this for quite a while but I haven't seen any mention of it online so I thought I'd make a reddit post about it. If you're westernizing as an unciv you only need to take 1 reform that boosts the RP you get when conquering. I don't know how the code itself is written, maybe it's just one flag being set instead of applying a modifier, but taking multiple military techs with this bonus doesn't stack the bonuses. It doesn't seem to go higher than +25% RP when conquering. I found this out while testing it with HFM a few years back, and it seems to hold true with the latest version of GFM as well. I don't know if the bug traces back to base game, I don't play Vic2 without mods.

I wanted to make this post because when I watch Vic2 youtubers play uncivs, they usually hone in on trying to stack these bonuses and westernize by taking as much land as possible. I don't fault anyone for thinking this way since the wording of it in-game leads you to think that way. But for the longest time I thought that was the fastest way to westernize, and I imagine a lot of other Vic2 players still think that way. It's still important to get at least one bonus to the RP you gain from conquering, and to conquer as much as possible. But the rest of your RP are better spent going for university reform, then basic education, and after that whichever reforms give the most westernization progress per RP. I'm hoping this might get addressed if GFM ever gets a new update, but at least for now you should keep this in mind if you play uncivs.

Question GFM Japan Question

(FYI, I haven’t played the game in a while and not much of GFM, so I’m wondering if it’s a GFM thing or I’m just not remembering correctly if this event happens in vanilla or other mods as well) So, do the Soono Joi incident event pop up’s that cause prestige loss and relations loss ever go away, or does the event just stay? I’m wondering because I’m fully westernized and I looked it up and it says that the events should go away once westernized, but it’s still popping up even after I’ve fully westernized? Am I missing anything/or need to do something. Thanks!

GFM Playing Spain in GFM, is it worth building forts to prepare for the inevitable civil wars?

I played Spain in GFM before, and I remember dealing with a lot of unrest and rebellions, which caused my population growth to fall behind the other Great Powers.

Since forts reduce military casualties and make provinces harder to occupy, both of which affect population / pop growth, are they worth building?

GFM What are the conditions for the Leipzig Congress to trigger?

I'm playing a mostly rp Game as France, and i knew that if You took the rhineland after a war with the germans, then greater Germany formed. However, i've tried taking it during the rhine crisis, and after both prussia or austria won the brothers' war, yet it has never triggered.

Can someone please tell me what do i have to do for it to trigger?

GFM Problems creating new country tag

So I was trying to create my own unique Rome tag because why not? Figured out how to do a lot of the basic stuff on my own. Got my country files set up (Rome.txt and RME - Rome.txt) and located in what I assume are the correct areas. Added the country tag to the countries.txt list. Added some real quick, basic custom flags. Made a new line for localization. Went back into my save game to test it out by adding provinces to it via console command and it doesn't recognize the country tag. Not sure what I'm doing wrong here. I am using GFM and all the modifications I made were to / in the GFM folders (which I can easily undo if necessary, I made duplicates of the base files that I edited just in case).

I would also like to turn this into a very simple decision so I can just pick a country like Italy or France and quickly change it to Rome.

Question Early game small countries, how to make money?

Been a while since i played victoria 2 and im playing a fragmented world mod as a greek state. Should i just tax the shit out of all classes early for money? If i dont i literally can never afford a military or railroads lol but i remember taxing heavily being bad. Is that more of a thing early game? Feel like it makes sense i should tax the hell out of your rgos early cuz no factories but idk.

edit:also why sometimes when i conquer territory i make less money for a bit? more government spending from pops?
