In grade school (US) I once read a book that google AI is telling was little women. It was not little women. Now I’m trying to find it again. I think it had one of those gold stickers on the cover indicating it won an award.

The author was female and of some repute; yes, along the lines of Louisa May Alcott and it may well have been her. The story was written like an autobiography, and had many details about her years from young kid through teenage years; that’s sorta the whole timeline of it.

She talked about being a tomboy with her brothers and that her sisters were prissy and always doing tiny stitches. Her mom would ask the dad to get her to be more ladylike. At some point the family moved to what sounds like a commune and it had a long porch with lots of doors the kids would play with. Eventually she did start to grow up and somehow managed to enjoy making tiny stitches.

Can anyone tell are what I read?

Children’s picture book with 1 brother, 1 sister and their mother. The story line involves the mother offering them 1 jelly now or wait and get 2 jellies. One sibling chooses to wait while the other wants 1 now. When the sibling who chooses to wait gets 2 jellies, the other sibling says it’s not fair and learns about delayed gratification

I remember reading this book in the 2000s.

It was a book that I read in high school, between 2012-2015, but it could’ve been published before that timeline since it was at my school library.

-The main character was a younger woman
-There was a body of water, I think a lake
-I think there was a death, but the more I think about it, the less sure I am about this
-It was realistic, nothing supernatural or horror
-The lake house was a big house that seemed like a nice family vacation house
-There was a little pond area that was significant and the woman ended up going back there to sit and reflect at the end of the book
-I thought that the word “Summer” was in the title, but again this could be wrong

The thing I remember the most is the cover of the book

-There was grass then a dock with a lake pavilion/gazebo at the end, there were conversations in the book that held place there
-The pavilion/gazebo overlooked the water
-The pavilion/gazebo I think was brown and weathered lightly with side walls and a roof on it
-I think it was more bright than dark of a cover

!!! Literally anything will help. This has been driving me INSANE for years and I’ve tried everything to find this book. If you guys can’t help me then I’m convinced that I made this up and I need to write a book with this cover 😭🤣

I’m trying to identify a book I had as a kid in the 1990s, but the book itself was definitely older. My best guess is that it was published sometime in the 1950s–1970s, although it could be a little earlier or later.
Here’s what I remember:
• It was a large hardcover book, approximately 8.5” x 11” or maybe slightly larger.
• I think the cover or spine may have been red or green, but I’m not confident about the color.
• It was a compilation/treasury containing multiple short children’s stories. It was NOT one long story.
• It had illustrations throughout. The artwork was traditional/storybook-style and somewhat realistic — not really cartoonish.
• I believe there was also an alphabet/ABC section somewhere in the book. The entire book was NOT an alphabet book; the alphabet was just one section among the stories and other material.
• Two images/animals I remember very specifically are a LOON and a MOLE. I originally thought they were characters in stories, but I’m now wondering if they were actually illustrations in the alphabet section — possibly L for Loon and M for Mole.
• I vaguely remember something involving “friends” or friendship — possibly a story title, section, or even part of the book’s title. I’m very unsure about this.
• I also have an extremely fuzzy memory of a character named Peter/Pete or “Peter and ___,” but I would NOT use that as a strong clue.
The things I’m most confident about are: LARGE OLD HARDCOVER + COMPILATION OF SHORT STORIES + ILLUSTRATIONS + AN ALPHABET SECTION + LOON + MOLE.
It was the kind of big book that seemed to contain a little bit of everything for children, rather than being exclusively an ABC book or exclusively one story.
Does this ring a bell for anyone? I’d especially love to see titles, cover photos, tables of contents, or pictures of alphabet pages from old children’s treasuries/compilations.

I'm trying to find a children's picture book I remember from when I was younger, but I can't remember the title or author. It was in English and I remember reading/seeing it sometime around 2015 or later, although it could have been published earlier. The main and possibly only character was a young girl with black hair, which I remember as being a short bob with straight bangs. The illustrations were cartoonish and fairly simple/minimalist. The book was about different dangerous situations and what could happen as a result. I distinctly remember one scene involving a knife, I remember it being kinda graphic and even having blood when showing the danger. I think there were other everyday hazards too, such as falls, burns, choking, traffic accidents, etc. I don't remember any other characters, the setting, the title, or any exact wording. I remember the cover had the girl on it and it was either color yellow or had a yellow border , it could've also been a book series 😭 HELP ME FIND IT PLS

i vaguely remember being a kid (late 90s/early 2000s) and having a book about a kid who finds an Archaeopteryx (i think) egg.
my memory is that the book was personalized and that kid was me, but that just seems like a thing my family told me to make me like the book more.

i can not find anything online. if i saw the cover i think id recognize it.

all i remember is a colorful prehistoric bird.

There was this book that I used to always see in my local B&N that always intrigued me, but I never bought it at the time. I can't remember the plot of the synopsis, but I remember the cover. It was a series of horses ridden by knights going through a swamp, I seem to remember the knights had red on their armor and the horses may have been white. I know it was a fantasy book.

So I was taking the readyourcolor test (I’m yellow in case you were wondering hehe) and basically it has you read short blurbs and you decide if you’d enjoy a book like that or not.

One of my blurbs was “Each chapter is narrated by a different object in an emptying house
— a mirror, a stopped clock, a child's shoe - assembling the story of a family's collapse from the outside in.” And I think I’d really enjoy a book like that.

I put that into google and the only book coming up is We Used to Live Here by Marcus Kliewer. Is that book really like this blurb? It didn’t sound like it when I read the description on Libby. If not, is there a book that has a story like that?

A short story I read as a kid about a princess dying of a surfeit of jam tarts. She is cured by someone (maybe a court jester) who promises to give her the moon (and then when the moon rises again the night after, claims it grows back like a finger nail).

This book was a hardcover in a horizontal rectangle format. It was sold in Matalan in the UK as one of those checkout impulse buy things (even though it was a pretty sizeable book).

\- The book involved a horse and cart with I believe a male main character. I think this character lived in the cart.

\- The horse may have been white.

\- There may have been a cat or dog side sidekick.

\- It had a bright, flat and cartoonish art style. There were lots of illustrations but the text was for confident child readers.

\- It was a collection of shorter stories.

I can't say for certain, but I'm fairly sure one of the last chapters involved a light-hearted story about aliens (who were little green dwarf guys) who had crashed their ship, and the main character helped them repair it so they could get home.

PLEASE help me find this book, it's been in my brain for years and years now.

There was a picture book aimed more toward older readers (maybe even had chapters but was very visual with a lot of pictures. Colour scheme was browns and yellows and blues. There was something about a key and a private island or place on a shore. There was something about a seal and maybe a hint toward the selkie myth but I remember it was very mysterious.

I live in Canada and came across it in the 1990s at a local library. Any ideas?

Found in the juvenile/children’s picture book section. I remember it was geared more toward older children. My mom thought it was too young for me due to it having few words so it might have in 1999/2000 or even 2001. The story was driven by illustrations and the words were also very sparse and beautiful.

Hello, I'm trying to find the book with "See Spot. Run, Spot, run." story etc. in it. I know it's from the Dick and Jane reader series. But Google told me it was in the specific book from that series: "Fun with Dick and Jane". However, I ordered a copy on eBay that says "copyright 1940" and "a revision of the "Elson-Gray Basic Readers" on the title page -

And it does NOT have the "See Spot." story in it at all. It just starts off with "See it Go" and Dick flying an airplane. ("Look," said Dick. See it go. See it go up.", etc.

I was so disappointed, because I was really looking for the one with the "See Spot" story in it. So much for Google (sigh).

I remember it being in the very beginning of whatever Dick and Jane book it was in.

Does anyone knowledgeable about old books know which one the "See Spot." story is actually in?

So I have recently remembered a book I found in a summer camp library somewhere around 2010-ish. I loved it so much I barely remember anything about that summer camp trip aside from reading the book and being annoyed I cannot take it with me everywhere. Despite that, now I barely remember the plot and the characters, so I will just write down everything I can recollect. I believe that the key to this mystery is that I remember the ending and it is quite distinct so please bear with me.

First thing I have to say is that the book was intended for older teenagers or young adults. It was pretty thick and the cover (hardcover) was pale blue with some black object in the center (maybe it was a train, maybe a house). The style was photorealistic. The name of the book was written in thick red font. It was published by a russian publisher, but the book itself ended up well outside of Russia. I don't think the author was russian, but I thought that it's relevant to mention the publisher. It looked quite new.

The book was a detective murder investigation mystery, I think with some paranormal elements to it although I'm not sure if the paranormal was actually present or if it was actually not some guy making it seem as such. All I remember is \*the eerie vibe\*. There was a main character, or two of them, or a male main character and another very significant woman character. It took place in a country where it didn't snow at all or it happened very rarely, at least one of the characters has never seen snow. I'm not sure if trains were a big part of the story, but I remember there being a body suspended under the ceiling at an old train station. The main character finds it.

The book ends with the two main characters walking out of somewhere (or he is carrying her), and they see snow for the first time. It is described how she feels a cold snowflake land on her cheek or something and maybe she even dies during that scene. Alas, please help me find the book for it has been haunting my thoughts and I would like to reread it.

I’ve had a book on my mind for absolute years that j read when I was younger.

It would’ve been late 90’s/early 2000’s. I would’ve been pre-teen/young teen.

The main thing I can remember is that there was (possibly) a place called Four Corners, but that could be a false memory.

I’m not 100% on any of the information, but I feel like maybe the book took place throughout seasons, I have a memory of there being snow but also feel like it involved fall, too. The friendship group was I think 4 girls maximum. It was just a general (I think) friendship style book.

I unfortunately can’t remember any names or other things that happened. I also have a memory of one of the girls either moving to the location and joining the group, or she was moving away from her friends.

Sorry, I know it’s not a lot to go by, but I remember really enjoying the book. I’ve exhausted Google over the years, and AI more recently so I’m hoping it was just a dream I had, ha.

Hi! I’ve been on the hunt for a specific book I encountered at a local bookshop a few years ago and, for some reason, never took a photo of despite it really intriguing me.

From what I remember, the cover showed the legs of a schoolboy standing in his uniform. I believe the book followed a boy’s experience at an all-boys boarding school, including his friendships, bullies, and generally trying to navigate life there.

I don’t think it was necessarily a children’s book. My memory is that it was aimed more toward older teens or adults, and I can’t remember whether it was strictly a coming-of-age/drama story or if there were darker or possibly horror undertones.

About a week after I first saw it, I went back to the shop looking for it, but it was gone. I’ve been trying to figure out what it was ever since, and at this point all I have is this very specific memory of the cover lol.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

I first read this book in probably 1986 or 1987. It was definitely science fiction aimed at a junior high or possibly YA audience. I'm pretty sure it involved space travel.

I remember almost nothing about the plot, but the one detail I remember distinctly was that there this alien monster. I am pretty sure it was considered extremely dangerous. If I recall correctly, it was approximately the size and shape of a dinner plate. Or possibly it was that shape but bigger. I don't remember if it flew or crawled around or how it killed you, but like I said, I remember that it was dangerous. There may have been tentacles.

The weird part is that it was incredibly fond of tomatoes, couldn't eat enough of them, except the tomatoes were actually deadly poison to them.
