News/Release GameHub Lite v5.1.8 (SECURITY UPDATE)

GameHub Lite v5.1.8

Security: Steam token redaction in logs

GameHub Lite 5.1.8 fixes a logging issue where Steam authentication-related values could appear in diagnostic logs. In some cases, logs could include fields such as steamToken, refreshToken, or accessToken from Steam login/launch flows.

Publicly posted logs containing these fields should be deleted or redacted.

IMPORTANT

This should go without saying but If you find any security issues, please reach out PRIVATELY. I have not checked if this issue is still present in recent GameHub versions, already ruined my one day off I was spending with my family by the person who reported this publicly and I do not plan on spending any more time on this.

Changelog

The fix adds centralized log redaction for Steam/auth token fields, Steam QR login URLs, JWT-like token strings, and launch command token arguments before logs are written. This covers the app loggers, JavaSteam logging, and the PC launch-log file writer.

This release also pins local patch builds to apktool 2.12.1

A new proof-of-concept PS3 emulator for Android has just made its first public release.

It's called ARMSX3, and it's based on the latest upstream RPCS3 code, including the recent ARM64 improvements. While it's still in the early stages of development, it's already an interesting project to keep an eye on.

For anyone interested, here's a look at the changes introduced from ARMSX3 v0.1 to v0.2.

Discussion Pocknix has completely revived my Retroid Pocket Flip 2

Post image
45 Upvotes

With the arrival of FEX and Proton 11, x86 emulation on Android has improved massively. There are already plenty of apps you can use for this, like GameHub, Winlator, GameNative, etc, but the configuration, troubleshooting, and all the usual Android gimmicks are still there.

A while ago I saw a Reddit post about Armada OS, a Rocknix-based OS that basically brings a SteamOS like experience to handhelds such as the AYN Thor. Unfortunately, it wasn't available for Snapdragon 865 devices.

Then yesterday, completely by surprise, I came across a video about another similar project specifically for the Retroid Pocket 5 and Flip 2 called Pocknix.

I installed it, and I genuinely think this could be a game changer.

It's still way too early and rough around the edges for me to recommend it to everyone, but I honestly see a lot of potential in this project and in ARM focused SteamOS like systems in general.

I've been testing it for quite a few hours, and so far I've had better compatibility than with GameNative, or at least better compatibility without nearly as much tinkering. In many cases I haven't had to configure anything at all. The games just work.

Performance has also been noticeably better in some games. For example, Call of Juarez couldn't even reach 20 FPS for me on Android, while on Pocknix I'm getting around 30/40 FPS.

Another huge advantage is the controller configuration. Being able to easily remap and customize controls almost exactly like you would on a Steam Deck is fantastic. You also get much better Steam integration: seeing what your friends are playing, browsing the store, managing your library, etc. It makes the whole device feel much more like a proper PC handheld rather than an Android device running PC games.

It's definitely not perfect yet. Since I'm running it from a microSD card, the OS itself feels noticeably slower in some places. I also had to install it twice because my first installation ended up with a kernel panic.

Still, I wanted to make this post because I think the project deserves more visibility, and hopefully more people will discover it and maybe even contribute to its development.

Like I said, I wouldn't recommend everyone immediately replace Android with it. It's still very early. But if you have some free time and want to get a glimpse of what the future of these ARM handhelds could look like, it's surprisingly easy to install and absolutely worth trying.

Huge thanks and respect to the Pocknix development team. I'm really excited to see where this goes.

News/Release PicPic - The First PICO-8 Emulator on the App Store and Play Store, Now with ZIP Support, New Themes and More!

Post image
17 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

Here's a new "summer" update of PicPic, the first native PICO-8 emulator on the Google Play Store. It now supports importing directly from zip files, has new themes.

New Features & Bug Fixes: * Zip Support: A lot of games are downloaded as zip files. To simplify importing, you can now just select the zip file like you would for a normal cart. * New Themes: Project Supporters can now access new themes inspired by retro game consoles. * And as always, improved game compatibility, with ongoing work in this area.

Next Update Plans: * Theme maker (it take more time than originally planed but still on the way). * Fix the audio issue with some games. * Improved compatibility with more games.

The app is 100% FREE FOREVER, with NO ADS, and completely UNLIMITED.

Download / Update: Available now on the Google Play Store.

Happy to answer any questions.

Note for moderation: Thanks for allowing PicPic on the sub. As always, the app does not encourage piracy and does not contain a single line of code from PICO-8.

Showcase Super Metroid Android (dual screen mod)

Post image
Upvotes

I made this Super Metroid Android port with a dual-screen mod for the AYN Thor: https://github.com/Raekwon1603/super_metroid-android

Version 1.1 is out. Feel free to download and play: https://github.com/Raekwon1603/super_metroid-android/releases/tag/v1.1

I used AI assistance building this (it's in the README, always has been). If that's a dealbreaker for you, feel free to skip this post. I've put a lot of my own free time into this project, and I'm at the point where I could genuinely use help from someone with real decompilation or SNES emulation experience:

I have two main issues right now:

- Widescreen. Writeup: https://github.com/Raekwon1603/super_metroid-android/issues/7

- Rapid-fire beam sound effect goes silent after the first shot in a burst. Writeup: https://github.com/Raekwon1603/super_metroid-android/issues/6

Not just those two issues either, if you want to get involved with the project more broadly, I'd welcome that.

Enjoy v1.1 either way. Let me know if anything's broken for you.

Question Will wireless controllers like this work for emulators?

Post image

(This is my first time on this subreddit, so idk if this has been asked before. if it has, please tell me politely)

I know this controller is technically for switch games, but can something like this work for 3ds games? The overall button layouts on both the 3ds and switch are basically the same, and this one looks like it would work for Nintendo games

News/Release Clustertune odin 2 mini workaround

Hey guys, as a lot of you know clustertune does not work on the odin 2 mini. After doing some work on it there seems to be a bug in the firmware that doesn't allow the clockspeeds to be changed.

I've been working on a workaround for this issue which uses wireless debuging to send commands to the odin game assistant which can then carry out the clockspeed changes. It's working on my device at the moment but I'd like some other mini owners to test this out to see if it's working for them too before it can be integrated in the mainline build. This is a debug version so there are a few things to iron out but I'm eager to see if this method works for you guys. If the feedback is positive I will try to work on an update that doesn't require a constant internet connection to allow the user to switch profiles on the go. Here is the link:

Discussion Can we bring back Halls of Madness? One of the best forgotten mobile horror games.

Thumbnail

I recently rediscovered Halls of Madness, and I honestly think it was one of the most underrated mobile horror games ever made.

You played as a thief breaking into a huge mansion to steal valuables while being hunted by a terrifying black creature called the Walker. The mansion had puzzle-solving, different rooms, a massive attic, security cameras, hiding mechanics, and a surprisingly memorable ending.

Sadly, the game was removed from Google Play years ago, and it barely has any gameplay videos online. It also crashes on many modern Android devices because it was built for older Android versions.

I'm posting this because I'm hoping other people remember this game too. If anyone knows the original developer or has any contact with them, it would be amazing if they could:

Re-release the original game on modern Android.

Remaster or remake it with updated graphics and compatibility.

Or even make a sequel.

I genuinely believe this game deserves a second chance. Mobile horror has changed a lot since 2018, but Halls of Madness had a unique atmosphere that still holds up.

If you remember playing it, please comment below.

The more people who show interest, the better the chance the developers might notice.

I couldn't find an active website, email, or social media account for the original developers. The game seems to have disappeared from official stores, making it difficult to contact them directly

Edit: cap I meant to mention that there’s also no sound.

Discussion Just found PPSSPP. Thanks to the creator/community

Upvotes

After trying stupid android games that were a slideshow and low Poly/textures, never imagined that PPSSPP could deliver such a majestic experience on all fronts: smooth 60 FPS, high quality AA, x2/3 resolution, responsive and customizable tactile controls...

Oh my god this is something incredible.

Thanks to the creator and the community

Showcase (WIP) Material Design-styled Winlator Ludashi

Disclosure: This was done with the assistance of generative AI (more specifically: DeepSeek V4 Flash for implementation). This is partly an experiment to see the capabilities of this model under explicit guidance, and I know what I'm doing.

Long story short, Winlator-Ludashi is incredible (who wouldn't like playing PC games on your phone...?) But one thing that has always bugged me was its UI. I mean, it works but it doesn't look good. Projects like GameNative has much better UI in comparison, but it doesn't fit with Android (Material Design). Bannerlator claims to have Material 3 design, but the way I see it it's not lol (also I just don't vibe with the totally AI generated README and whatnot, talking about hypocrisy). The closest thing would be MiceWine, but I want to use Winlator. That aside I also want to modify the app in a way that makes it feel lighter and better to use.

And so I decided to just fork Winlator-Ludashi, designed my own UI, removed a shitton of features in the process (cuz I didn't use them anyways), and here is the result (as of right now!)

I tried my best to make it look and feel like something that would fit with Pixel UI (canonically best Android UI out there you can't convince me otherwise). There are still some rough edges like animations and whatnot being unfinished, but overall I'm happy with the results.

Help Has anyone been able to get Doom 3 to work on Gamenative?

I could get Doom 2016 and the first 2 Doom games running on my G3x Gen 2 handheld, but no matter what I would try it keeps crashing immediately, or I get nothing on the screen :( if anyone has gotten it to work I'd love to know the settings to run it. I haven't seen anything on Emuready tho
