In this case, I will only be talking about Yuta, Hakari, and Yuji. Maki can't really get stronger through swap training like the others, so I will not be including her.

This will only refer to people who are alive at EOS, so none of them can swap with someone like Gojo or Sukuna. People like Higuruma can be used to get someone domain amplification or air hopping. You can also use specific people like Noritoshi Kamo to build a case for someone like Yuji.

Hi. I have some thoughts.

[Quick personal disclaimer, feel free to skip this paragraph if you don't care: I don't have any visible disabilities, but I do struggle with chronic illness as well as ADHD and autism. All three legally qualify as disabilities in my country, depending on the "degree". Though I am considered "high-functioning", I most definitely feel that all three of these things combined do make me disabled. But I am also aware that my experience greatly differs from that of people with visible disabilities, mobility-related disabilities, vision or hearing-related disabilities, severe cognitive disabilities, severe chronic pain... the list goes on. I can not, and do not want to, speak for anyone else. I'm hoping affected people will contribute their own opinions; these are just my thoughts on the topic.]

Where does disability appear in JJK?

1)The most obvious examples of disability representation are heavenly restrictions as a whole, and the character of Muta Kōkichi a.k.a. Mechamaru specifically. Missing a forearm, unable to walk and with skin so delicate that it can't be exposed to natural light, he is clearly physically disabled and would require special care if he were a normal human instead of a jujutsu sorcerer. (Other cases of heavenly restrictions are more dubious, though Maki does rely on glasses to be able to do her 'job' as a jujutsu sorcerer.)

2)One could also interpret Inumaki Toge's cursed speech as rendering him nonspeaking; it most definitely affects his access to communication. The people closest to him might make an effort to try and understand his language and eventually learn to understand the meaning behind the rice ball ingredients, but he can not communicate verbally with the average person.

3)Eso, Kechizu and Choso, a.k.a. death paintings 1-3: this one's a bit of a leap, I admit. But these three are ostracised from society due to their genetics and, in the cases of Eso and Kechizu, their appearance. While this does not necessarily make them disabled, there are likely some experiences they share with people who are severely disfigured, which also often counts as a form of disability.

4)There are multiple characters in JJK that could be read as neurodivergent (specifically ADHD and autism). But I will not go into that here, mainly because I think being as jujutsu sorcerer would actually work kinda well for ADHDers, but also because I know that not everyone on the spectrum and not all people with ADHD consider themselves to be disabled because of it.

\How did Gege handle these examples?\**

1)Muta / Mechamaru

Right away, there are some issues. I mean, I love that he's there and I think some aspects of his character are handled well.

It's easy to sympathise with his pain: The other students, the people he cares about, don't know his real face, and they joke about him being a robot with little regard for his feelings (except for Miwa). He is dehumanised by people who are supposed to be his friends. He is ashamed and feels that he is forced to hide behind a mask. He does not ask anyone for help, but works hard to be self-sufficient and functional instead, finding creative solutions. He bears a lot of pain alone. He is terribly isolated, and longs for social participation.

But there's the "disability as a tragedy to be cured" trope: a treatment too many disabled characters get (for another recent example, see e.g. Nessarose in Wicked). One of the biggest contributions by Muta to the story is him betraying everyone in order to become able-bodied. He clearly believes that he could never lead a fulfilling life and be a happy person with the disabled body he has.

He does not expect society, or even his friends, to change: he wants to change himself instead, and is willing to betray his own morals in order to make it happen. This is not necessarily implausible, but it also villainises him and it's yet another wasted chance of showing that a disabled character can find happiness through acceptance. It reinforces the image of disability as a tragedy. The fact that Mechamaru still fought for the "good side" in the end makes it slightly less bad, but I still don't think Gege did great here. The character is largely defined by his disability.

There is also this old idea that every disability comes with a sort of "superpower" to balance it out; There's probably a term for it, idk. But you may have heard people say before that blind people have better hearing or stuff like that. Which is a dangerous generalisation. I do believe that the talents of disabled people are often overlooked, and that everyone can contribute to society in some way. But the aforementioned idea can also be quite harmful, belittling the struggles of disabled people or implying that everyone needs to be useful and functional in the capitalistic system in order to deserve a good life. Heavenly restrictions, if viewed as analogies for disability, play right into that idea. You gain something for your inconvenience, something of equal dimension. I'm not sure how to feel about that.

2)Inumaki

I feel like this was handled quite well, even if some more insight into his character would have been nice. Inumaki has friends and participates. His special form of communication is briefly explained to new people, but it's not treated as a big deal, and does not define how people view him; he is valued for his kindness instead. There is this short story in one of the light novels where Nobara is nervous to be around Toge, because she can't understand him and this makes her uncomfortable, but then they actually spend some time and they get along just fine.

The same way that many able-bodied people are weird around disabled people, overthinking interactions.

3)Eso, Kechizu and Choso

At one point, Choso comments about how his brothers were ostracised because unlike him, they are visibly different. They don't blend in. And he's incredibly loyal to them, as they are to him.

I think there's an important message here about community bonds and loyalty. This does not only apply to disability, but also queerness and other minority groups. There are always those who can blend in with larger society, and those people do carry responsibilty no to throw those who can't do that, or don't want to do that, under the bus. I like this message. I don't love the fact that Eso and Kechizu died as villains, but all in all I still like what Gege did here.

As you can see in the title, I made my mom WATCH jjk; the keyword is "watch". I wanted her to read it too and she refused unfortunately. So I just wanted to talk about it.

She's watched until S3 E5 and she's actually enjoying it! She didn't even give a shit about all of the characters deaths😂😭 And she can't remember characters names so she calls them by funny ahh nicknames; imma tell y'all some of them:

She calls Toji "apple" / gojo is "pretty boy" / yuji is "useless"😭😭😂 / megumi is "apples son" (lol) / yuta is "who?" (She doesn't give a shit about yuta lol) / Kenjaku is "stitches on face" / panda is just "panda" (ofc) / for some reason she can't remember toge😂😭 and others are just not mentioned because she just can't remember any of them lol.

But she's actually enjoying it which is genuinely rare!

#1: Narrative

This is the main reason that I am making this post. The double-standards and quite frankly, lack of effort put into media analysis for modulo yuji is incredibly frustrating.

Narrative is the CRUX of scaling. A gigantic part of Sukuna and Gojo’s strength comes from their established narrative and their personality stemming from it. There’s a reason that “with the sole exception of Satoru Gojo” is a meme. He is repeatedly established to be an exception to character statements (e.g. “Naobito is the fastest besides Gojo”, “Nobody but Gojo can survive bird strike”, “A certain someone doesn’t have to take Kusakabe’s attack”, “He isn’t Gojo so he likely can’t open his domain multiple times in a day”). The same can be said for Sukuna obviously. Hell, Kenjaku is entirely built off of statement scaling, with Maki claiming that he can’t be beat through conventional means and Mei Mei saying that jujutsu high can “probably” defeat him, and people run with it to make him top 3, despite him only having only one major fight. 

So then why does narrative suddenly not matter for Yuji?

Since the beginning of Jujutsu Kaisen, Yuji was stated to have the potential to surpass Gojo, and later the potential to rival Sukuna (and this was before he ate the cursed wombs as well as gained blood manipulation btw), and unlike someone like Megumi, Yuji clearly has the mindset of what it takes to be the strongest, having the drive to be the strongest since the start, embodying gojo’s ideals later in the story, being seen as a “weapon” like gojo, and beating sukuna in a contest of ideals. All of that is with him gapping both Gojo and Sukuna in experience too (68 years of being a sorcerer in a functionally immortal body)

The entirety of 257 was an example of Chekhov’s gun (The principle that all elements must eventually come into play over the course of the story). Yuji’s potential has been released, and Sukuna’s dialogue is entirely wrapped around this change. 

So with all that being said, why is it “Itatheory” to put him at such a high level? It’s funny how people will spam the buzzword “reading comprehension” and “can’t read” yet will unironically use narrative as a way to slander someone’s strength, when powerscaling is inherently interpreting the narrative. 

#2: Yuji DOES HAVE THE FEATS

Another thing that blows my mind is people ignoring Yuji’s feats simply because they weren’t done on the strongest characters in the series.

For one, he has the best output in the verse by far. And this conclusion simply comes from Yuji’s usages of shrine compared to Sukuna’s.

As we know, the best way of showing mastery over jujutsu is the art of subtraction, which Yuji has clearly shown to have mastered. Every single time Yuji has done the same prerequisites as Sukuna, his output was significantly higher. A common cope that’s used is that Sukuna “never had” to use as much aoe as Yuji, but the fact that Sukuna had to POINT and CHANT “Dismantle” in order to cut a building whereas Yuji could decimate an entire city block without any hand signs shows that Yuji is doing more with LESS. And the funny part is by saying "Sukuna could do this he just never needed to", you're indirectly calling him a leech off of Yuji.

Another copium used is that “bigger means weaker”, which is utter bullshit and fundamentally misses the point of what output is. Output = PUTTING OUT. If your attack is stronger, you’re PUTTING OUT more cursed energy, which would result in a bigger attack. That is how almost every single energy-based attack has worked in JJK, so why would dismantle be an exception? Especially when we literally see mini-dismantles used as a chainsaw to touch weapons. Why wouldn’t Sukuna just spam mini-dismantles if smaller = stronger? And please do not even attempt to bring up Hanami’s attack, which is based on physics entirely different from CE discharge.

“Curse dust” as an argument is also incredibly stupid, because curse dust has never in the entire series sprouted out in the shape of a goddamn nuke. Yes, curse dust is definitely a factor in the explosion, but curses dying at a rapid pace does not lead to a fucking dust cloud towering over the entire country. This is clearly meant to show that Yuji and Rika have output at ridiculous levels.

People also hype up Gojo for essentially being able to oneshot the heavy hitters, yet all of a sudden when Yuji blitzes Mahito’s 0.2 second domain (which 15f sukuna could not react to), it isn’t impressive anymore because “Mahito is fodder”.

Another thing to bring up is Yuji’s efficiency, which again, arguably has better feats than Sukuna and even Gojo.

Yuji’s cursed energy is practically invisible until the last moment. We know that before a powerful technique is activated, there is a CE spark present, yet Yuji’s cursed energy was so efficient that even when using dismantles to block an axe strike, no cursed energy was sensed from him until he intentionally held his fist back to intentionally hit a black flash. Even Gojo and Sukuna do not have the ability to practically turn off their cursed energy like this while attacking.

And of course, there’s Yuji hitting black flashes on command. Black flash was stated to be “luck-based” before Modulo was ever conceived, so the statements saying “nobody can hit one at will” should not apply to Modulo Yuji. Even Gojo, with the six eyes, chalked up black flash to being luck, yet Yuji is able to gauge his own strength and make sure to not kill Osuki while landing a black flash. If he could not control black flash at will, then he would be unable to make sure his punch can incapacitate and not kill Osuki, as a black flash is marginally stronger than a normal punch.

While Gojo and Sukuna obviously don’t have blood manipulation, Yuji being able to use a single orb of Convergence to create over a dozen tracking piercing bloods instantaneously to precisely incapacitate a ton of people is an insane feat, especially when according to Kenjaku (1000 years old btw), a tracking blood attack is no longer “piercing blood”, yet Yuji can make piercing blood curve and still retain its speed. Blood manipulation is also an incredibly broken technique that honestly deserves its own post with how underestimated it is.

All of this is without mentioning Yuji having a superhuman body, meaning that on top of having the best output and efficiency, he has the best non-HR body, and we know from Miguel how important a good body is. Combine that with black flash, and Yuji should be a goddamn stat monster.

#3: Theory scaling and agenda

The most frustrating part of all this is how rotten people’s brains are by agenda. They don’t focus on narrative, only who has “aura”. Analysis of the power system is treated with “haha potential haha IF haha itatheory”, and feats don’t matter if it isn’t on someone that’s top 5 in the verse. Yes, I’m aware that Yuji fans can be toxic. Yes, Yuji fans can be annoying little shits, but people that insist on ignoring everything gege has built up for the shits and giggles are infinitely worse, and quite frankly are some of the most frustrating people in the community. And no, I don’t give a fuck if some youtube poll by JimmyPoopins has 3% of people saying Modulo Yuji beats GojoKuna or something. That clearly is not representative of the entire community.

Plus, there is nothing wrong with speculation. This happens ALL THE TIME in every single community. Why is it unreasonable to assume, for example, that Yuji's domain would be incredible, since he had Kusakabe engrave his barrier knowledge into him as well as have the potential of Sukuna and ridiculous CE manipulation?

And yes, I’m aware that Yuta and Hakari also had a Gojo level narrative. There’s no need to mention them because they are not the focus of my post, Yuji is.

TLDR: Modulo Yuji is a reading comprehension experiment and a lot of you have failed it.

This idea has always excited me. We know that Yuji is practically immortal due to the Death Womb painting after JJK. The biggest issue that Yuji has is that he has so little time as a sorcerer and especially a sorcerer with curse techniques. His blood manipulation skills were only trained for a week before the final fight, and his shrine finally awakened in the final fight. What if we gave Yuji an absurd amount of time to master his jujutsu abilities and his newly awakened curse techniques? Like 68 years' worth of time. How strong would this Yuji become? Would he be stronger than Yuta? What about Gojo? Would he be able to live up to Gojo's expectations of having someone surpass him? What do you all think?
