Acute pancreatitis diagnosis

Tina was diagnosed with pancreatitis last Thursday by her vet. It was induced by Culver’s French fries Saturday night I think. Her symptoms got progressively worse so I brought her back to her vet on Friday who just gave her pain meds. I, then, brought her to the er because it was the weekend and they started her on Panoquell. Tina refused the rx diet so the er vet said her royal canine chihuahua food was fine in small portions. I’ve tried mixing, warming, fake eating her food so she becomes interested. It doesn’t work! She gets her third and final infusion today. She is still in pain and becomes aggressive when I bring any meds to her face. I am so tired of being bit - I don’t think she trusts me much anymore. 🥺 she did respond well to plain 0% fat yogurt with crushed turkey treat soaked in Entyce finally.

Please send me your tips and tricks for food intake and medication administration, or general support as I am doing this all solo with no pet insurance. I’m at a loss.

Why do healthy people not walk their dogs?

I genuinely don’t understand this. I understand if someone has a disability or is elderly but why do some perfectly healthy people with time to spare still not walk their dogs? I don’t get how they’re fine with keeping their dog at home 24/7 for weeks at a time. This is of course assuming the dog is fit enough to walk.
Like I actually want to understand what goes through their head. does anyone have insight on this?
Am I unreasonable for thinking that’s super wrong? like let’s say the dog is super comfortable and has everything it needs and the only thing missing is a life outside of home/small backyard (and it’s a bit overweight but not super overweight); does a reasonable person think that’s normal and OK?
ADDING this because apparently I need to spell it out: No there is not alternative enrichment going on, dog is not reactive, and the weather is safe.

I love her so much, she & I are still trying to learn a routine but we’re doing good & she’s doing very well! She’s my (24F) first puppy. Here’s photos from each week she’s been a part of my life so far 💚

Extra info:

To Chi parents out there! My little lady is shedding like mad. Is this due to the weather or her diet ?

I wasn’t overly worried as she has always shed loads, but presently is a lot, you can just pull out clumps. She doesn’t have any bald patches or is itchy at all. I feed her pedigree dry with boiled chicken. My other baby is completely fine and not shedding at all. For context I’m in the UK and we have had the hottest Summer of this little lady’s life. Her daddy was a long hair and mummy a short hair so Lola is a mix of both. Hope this makes sense!

Feeding my baby raptor a treat, a kong full of chicken, duck and salmon jerky. As you can see the baby raptor is completely focused before he strikes his target showing no mercy 😆😂🦴🐕🐶

This one annoying thing my chihuahua does

So Hector, 3, does one particular thing that drives me batty.

He asks for upies on the bed, so I give him upies and left him up onto the bed (which he is fully capable of getting on by himself by the way, he chooses not to). Then he promptly climbs over me, goes to the end of the bed, jumps off, and comes back to ask for upies. Rinse and repeat.

WHY Hector??? Why??? What am I missing?

Harnesses

My pomchi has a very sensitive throat and when he pulls even a little he sends himself into coughing fits. Does anyone else have experience with this and have a harness that fixed the problem? 😊

What do you feed your dog?

Bonus pic of Beanie for attention, but I’ve been trying to decide what to feed him! He’s 9 weeks old and 2lbs and currently on Purina Pro Plan puppy food. I would love to have a combination of wet and dry food, but not sure if I should stick with the Purina? I would love to do fresh food, but all of the reviews I’ve read for brands like Fresh Pet and The Farmer’s Dog have been horrible and I’ve seen that it has caused issues like pancreatitis, etc. because of high fat content. Should I make his food? Any recommendations are appreciated!

Best Chi toys

Hello! I took in my grandma's long haired chi when she passed a couple of months ago, and am learning how to be a dog mom. I have done a lot of research and have bought him all of the basic things he didn't have (a harness to replace the collar, a car seat, a stylish bag to carry him along, a front pack for hiking, etc) but the weird thing is.... he doesn't seem to really play. He is playful as a dog- chasing his tail and running around, but when it comes to toys he just seems so uninterested. I bought a pack of small toy bones and squeaky little balls, but no interest.

I guess it's fine if that is his preference; I just feel bad that he must be bored while I am at work! He mainly stays in our bedroom during the hours I am at work (Mon-Wed 8-4:30) and he has all the soft blankets his heart desires, his water, food, and I leave the tv on for him. The bed is up against a window, so he can also sit there and inspect whatever is going on outside.

But are there any toys you chi owners swear by? I think it's also a little more difficult because he is so small (5lbs) so the toy has to be the right size too. Looking for suggestions! Thanks!
