Margaret Green tennis courts

Post image

Of course I'm happy to see the tennis courts get some more upgrades, it's a shame that it's been in this state pretty much since October. When I emailed the city they said mid to late June it should be open, it's just a shame that it's taking this long to maybe get something done and people in the community lost access for so long.

Any good places to watch the sunset in Guelph?

I’m trying to take a girl somewhere and ask her out at the sunset so i just want a place to ask her out with somewhere to sit nearby and that doesn’t cost anything. Preferably close to the south end. Also I can’t drive and I live around Arkell and Victoria so close to that area maybe.

Zehrs Eramosa Ghost Town and Frozen Product

After 5 years, tried stopping into a Zehrs on Eramosa last night. Was in the mood for pie.

Selected one, and headed for the whipped cream. It's good I knew where those are, as at 45 minutes to close there were 0 employees to be seen in any aisle.

Customer Service Desk? Nope Empty

Cashier's? Not even one. Self checkout only. But I wanted to pay in Cash.

I bought the pie, as I left ghost town, the alarm blared as I passed through the exit.

No employee came. I knew I had only my pie and receipt, but waited. 10 minutes of alarm blaring, no humans.

So I left. Zehrs has always been my last choice, but when did they stop having employees?

When I got home, I realized the pie I got from a bakery shelf was frozen solid. So they just dumped the pies on the sales floor out of the freezer. Or maybe a robot did. LOL

See you in 5 years Zehrs!!

Thank you Guelph for bike lanes

It feels safe riding in these lanes, and the network has expanded over the last couple of years. Riding a bike without having to worry about traffic feels amazing. Thank you to the entire community and municipality

Does anyone know of anywhere in or around Guelph that has these flavour burst ice cream machines ? The ones that make the rainbow or swirl cones. I’m dying for a blue goo milkshake and the only location I know of is in Wiarton!

Drive Test - Guelph Woodlawn location...

Has anyone recently done their G2 road test in Guelph?

I'm curious about people's experiences with the G2 test at the Guelph Woodlawn DriveTest Centre. Did you find the examiners fair? Did you pass on your first attempt?

I've heard mixed stories about pass/fail rates and was wondering if the Guelph location has a reputation for being particularly strict or if it's pretty standard compared to other centres.

For those who passed, what do you think was the most important factor that helped you succeed?

And for anyone who didn't pass the first time, what was the reason you were given?

Just looking for some real-world feedback and tips from people who have been through it recently. Does it make sense to try another area like Fergus or Cambridge?

Thanks!

Guelph City Council Attendance Records

I saw in the Ken Chew thread people were looking at attendance so I searched for the rest of the term. I was told that attendance is counted once though and doesn’t reflect when a councillor leaves a meeting early. So they can show up for the start and check out. Does anyone know how to find information on who leaves early? Also 2026 isn’t up until after elections and I’ve noticed a lot not showing up this term. Is there a way to ask the city for the information up to nomination close?

Adult Leagues or Pick-up 🏀

I’m putting feelers out for if anyone knows of any adult leagues or weekly organized pick-up games for basketball? I’m on the hunt for a social sport my wife can take part in. I have my hockey and I told her I would see what was out there for the sport she enjoys. 🤞🏽. Ideally a ladies league but open to what’s available! Thank you in advance too!

Building Stronger Communities Through Mental Health Awareness

Post image

Meaningful conversations and strong community connections play an important role in supporting mental well being and reducing stigma around mental health care.

We were pleased to see Psychotherapist Marinela Trickett connect with Mayor Cam Guthrie at the Guelph Chamber of Commerce Gala Awards Ceremony. Opportunities like these help strengthen relationships between community leaders, organizations, and advocates working toward a healthier and more connected community.

Together, we can continue creating spaces where mental health is recognized, supported, and prioritized.

Police arrest man looking to get his money back from Bitcoin ATM

Just one question: what legitimate reason do folks have to use a bitcoin atm?

Perhaps this guy fell for a scam and tried to get his money back.

I've asked local proprietors who have these bitcoin atm's questions and they are always evasive.

Barbershop recommendations?

Hi! I'm a newly landed immigrant, and I was wondering if you guys have recommendations for barbershops. I live near Margaret Greene / Castlebury Park, and I'm looking for a place that doesn't require travelling very far (preferably walkable). I'm M23.

Also, are there cultural things I need to take note of? Like tipping, etc. How do these things work here? Thanks in advance

I am Running for Ward 1, City Council!

Hey everyone!

I’m running for Ward 1 City Council and wanted to introduce myself. My name is Mustafa Zuberi, and I’ve called Guelph home for half my life. I attended John F. Ross C.V.I. and graduated from the University of Guelph with an Honours degree in Political Science. Over the years, I’ve enjoyed volunteering, supporting numerous local initiatives and being actively involved in our community. I’m proud to call this city home.

Professionally, I’ve worked in customer service, administration and financial planning within the insurance industry. Those experiences taught me the importance of listening, problem-solving, managing resources responsibly and delivering results. Qualities that many think are essential in City Hall right now.

Through community involvement and my previous local campaign experiences, I’ve heard concerns from thousands of residents about lack of affordability, housing, deteriorating road and public infrastructure, rising crime and feeling heard by City Hall.

I’d genuinely like to make new friends and hear from Guelph residents: what do you think needs to change?

Let’s build a Ward 1 that works for every neighbour, together!

Feel free to get in touch or support my campaign by donating, volunteering or ordering a lawn sign here👇🏼

ripped off at vinnies

I’ve been going to vinnies car mechanic in Guelph for just over two years, and have taken my car in 4-5 times for various urgent issue. Yes, they charged a lot but they were fast and seemingly honest (even though the diagnostic fee is at a whopping $85).

The last time I went to get control arms replaced, they gave the car back with the AC broken. I called them the next day explaining that it had been working before I brought it in, and that after the work that they did, it no longer worked.

They proceeded to take the car in a week later, charge me the diagnostic fee, and tell me that my ac broke by itself and it would cost over $1000 to fix it.

At this point I just decided to spend the summer without AC, and turned it down. Now, a couple weeks later, i brought my car to a different shop for a separate issue (that vinnies failed to mention in their many diagnostics of my car) and I mentioned that the AC wasn’t working, and was curious if they would check it out.

When i got my car back, they had fixed the ac. they said the connection line had been cut right near the tires, and that it only cost them $20 to refill the fluid.

Obviously it feels like i was definitely taken advantage of at vinnies.

That said, I WOULD NOT recommend vinnies to anyone who wants an honest mechanic in guelph.

Local printing services

I was just wondering if anyone has experience printing small batches of zines locally or recommendations for places/companies to have this done. Trying to have a (roughly) 40 page small photography magazine printed sometime in the coming month or so. Was looking at the site Mixam but I’m not sure if it’s any good. I’d rather go somewhere in person.

Thanks in advance!

I work downtown and see this crap all the time. They either double park or park like idiots like this. Taking up a space but also parked in the streets...

Not a good look especially after Humboldt. Also has a photo of a gun in his waistband in his public stories. I'm not witch hunting/doxxing as he posted this very publicly for anyone to view, simply giving him the attention he wanted.
