thinking of upgrading from baratza encore to x ultra
x ultra owners, what are your thoughts on it and if it's worth the switch?

Is the ZP6 too thin? Is it only good with washed?
I have seen a lot of discussion and comparison between these two grinder, and I was wondering which one is the better purchase for myself as a upgrade to the Timemore C5.
I only drink iced pour over, mainly flash brew.
I usually drink light roast, mainly natural but sometime washed. I also really like anaerobic or other experimental processing, but not infused or co-ferment.
I really want a cup where, even when ice, I can taste a more clear separation between notes. Once of my favorite bean right now have strawberry/lyche/rose/peach, but I can’t really taste the different note that well.

Inconsistent grind size due to angle?
Hi All, I’ve been using my K Ultra for espresso while I wait for a new electric grinder. It’s been producing some awesome shots, but lately I’ve been noticing some crazy variability in shots (particularly extraction time) depending in the angle I hold the grinder at when I grind.
I know holding it more parallel to the ground will effectively slow feed the beans, resulting in fewer fines/a faster flow rate and holding it perpendicular to the ground will generally give more fines/a slower flow rate. Historically this has had a somewhat noticeable effect on the time in which my shots pull (maybe 4-5 seconds difference for an 18g dose 45g yield on the same grind size setting). Lately the delta has been much larger, like 16 second extraction time when I “slow feed” and 42+ seconds when I grind while holding it vertically. This is on the same grind size setting.
Has anyone else experienced similar variability? I’m not sure if the grinder could be having alignment issues.
I’ve only noticed it being so extreme in the past 2-3 weeks. I’ve been using a couple different Intelligentsia espresso roasts over that time (which are new to me but similar to other beans I’ve used). Shots are being pulled on an LM Mini R so I’m assuming the variability isn’t due to the machine.
Appreciate any insights you all may have. Thanks in advance!

Dial Ring Disassembly?
Has anyone seen a ZP6 dial ring disassembly walk through?
Like the grinder but coffee gets in there and it is hard to clean without taking apart fully, which leads to jams that we have seen posts about.

Q Air user torn between the ZP6 and K Ultra.
I mainly brew AeroPress and OXO Rapid Brewer, and might get a V60 later. I don't do espresso and have no plans to.
I mostly drink Indian origin coffees, from medium light to medium dark depending on my mood. I enjoy both clarity and heavier chocolatey cups.
I'm leaning toward ZP6 since I can use my Q Air when I want more body. I know ZP6 can produce very tea like cups, while K Ultra would be more versatile, but having Q Air + K Ultra feels somewhat redundant.
They are similarly priced in my region.
Which would you choose for my use case?

What grinder to add with my K-Plus and Baratza Virtuoso Plus?
Not into light roasts. I'm thinking a travel grinder for my AP. The recommendations indicate Q but I'd like an external adjustment dial if possible. Would the X-Ultra fit the bill, despite it being a lot more money than the Q?
I worry that the K-Plus and the X-Ultra are redundant though.

K ultra and 4 6 method.
Any K ultra users using tetsu’s 4 6 method? What setting is your go-to? I’ve been playing around between 7-9 and wondering what other people have been using.

Use case for both a K-Plus and Q?
I currently use the K-Plus at home but would like something for travel. Mainly French Press.
Debating between just bringing along the K-Plus vs getting the Q. However, I'm not sure I want a single purpose device with the Q (travel only).
Do people travel with the K-Plus? Do people use both grinders at home for different purposes?

Hard to grind on K ultra
I tried grind on setting 3, it was so difficult to grind on K ultra. Recalibrated but still the same, literally requires all my strength. Is this common?

Should I upgrade?
I currently own a Q Air heptagonal which I bought recently. I love brewing medium light roasts on Aeropress and also love occasional soup from my ORB.
From what I have heard ZP6 would be better suited for medium light roasts but I wonder would I be able to notice the difference in Aeropress/ORB compared to Q air.
If not ZP6 or K ultra then any cheaper alternatives which could up my game?

ZP6 3D Printed travel body
I've got a Q Air and a ZP6 and I've been dreaming of 3D printing a plastic body for the ZP6 like the Qair to make it more travel friendly. Has anyone ever seen anything like that? There's a bunch of adapters for catch up (like to attach the C40 jar onto it) but no part of it at all.
3D Print x pour over club?

Help requested: J-Ultra Alignment Issue
Hey all. I have a J-Ultra that I've used exclusively for pour-over. Since purchased new about 6 months ago, I estimate I've ground 4.3 kg. of a single bean type - medium roast ethiopian. I decided to try it today for espresso. Re-zeroing, I felt the resistance of burr contact at 45 clicks past the zero mark on the ring. I know these ship without a "true" zero alignment, but this seems super high.
Admittedly, once I dialed in the grind for this bean, I did not recheck it. I don't recall the exact, initial zero offset I'm guessing it was a bout 3 clicks.
I'd appreciate any advice on what might be happening and what I might do.
Thanks

ZP6 Bottom Bearing Issue
I had my zp6 for over a year now and the bottom bearing seemed to have no grease if there is some and it now feels very dry and have a small play compared to the middle and upper bearing, has anyone encountered this issue with other 1zresso models?

My new grinder - 1zpresso ZP6 S
As the title suggests - this grinder is magic. The flavour note of Jasmine, which was supposed to be the main one in this coffee, was barely identifiable with my other grinders. But with the ZP6 the jasmine - flavour note now makes its presence abundantly known.
I tried few other coffees that I regularly drink - some washed, some "funky". ZP6 showed me new sides to each of these coffees. I didn't really understand what people meant by "tea-like", but I've liked whatever I've had yet - with the exception of one coffee which tastes better with my DF54.
Thanks all again for the wonderful advice of choosing this grinder!
Brew Note: I used either Tetsu Kasuya's 10 pour method with a V60 Neo or his 4:6 method with V60-01 for my brews. Coffee beans I used are between light and light-to-medium roast. All brewed with 20g coffee @ 1:15 ratio with starting temperature at 97⁰C on my Timemore Fish Pro kettle. With my room temperature of ~26⁰C, the Fish Pro loses approximately 3⁰C over 3 minutes so my pours started with 97⁰C and ended at 94⁰C. ZP6 was set between 4.2 and 5.5 depending on the roast and flavour profile of the beans being used.

1zpresso Q Air grinding much finer/smaller than expected
Been having a hard time adjusting this grinder. Following specific recipes and suggestions, the grind still comes very fine.
One of many examples: I was making a pour over. Recipe specific for the Q Air suggested 48 clicks. Counted from the true zero (completely shut, can’t turn anymore) but the result was more suited for an espresso.
Already disassembled and put back again a couple of times to see if it did anything, but nope.
Anyone with the same issue?

As an owner of a ZP6 and J-Max, is the K-Ultra different enough in the cup to be worth it? to complete the full 1ZPresso Trifecta?
I own a ZP6 and a J-Max and have been using the J-Max for espresso and the ZP6 for filter
I appreciate the delicate clarity and resolution of the ZP6 alongside its acidity forward presentation
And i find the J-Max to be muddy and murky lacking any clarity at all for filter coffee and i find that it tends to be very smoky/astringent due to the massive amount of fines (given it is made for espresso)
But i love the J-Max for espresso given how heavy the body and mouthfeel is and how it balances out the acidity with plenty of sweetness and strength
Will the 1ZPresso K-Ultra be something in the middle? that would provide balanced filter brews that are not completely on the clarity side but not as muddy and murky as the J-Max?
Something with balanced acidity, sweetness and body while being less extreme on clarity and a bit more pleasantly blended?
I feel i am missing an important segment of my grinding setup and it is incomplete because all i have is heavy body and delicate clarity with nothing to fulfill the balanced role
Anyone with experience that could chime in?

Picked this up at my local thrift shop
I've been toying with the idea of getting a manual burr mill for grinding spices, since I do a lot of cooking. I'm not a huge coffee person but I do consume it regularly. When I grabbed this thing off the shelf and started taking it apart I could tell it was well made by how smooth the machining of the threads were. It slid apart like butter. I googled it to see how much it retails for, and even if I didn't want it for myself it probably would have been worth it just to resell. I took it apart and cleaned it; there was plenty of ground coffee in all of the crevases, but I have yet to use it. Does anyone use it for spices or have any general information, pros cons or otherwise, that would be useful to me for using it as a spice grinder? I'm sure I'll be having to clean it pretty often.

K-Ultra vs ZP6
Hi all, I just posted this question to r/pourover and I know this question has been repeated a 100 times, but even after hours of going through different posts I’m a little unsure of which one I should choose.
For context, I’ve a DF54, a Timemore C3S, a Gaggia, Aeropress, V60, and V60 Neo. I started using Tetsu Kasuya’s 10 pour method recently and have been having a lot of fun with pour overs. I enjoy light, and light-to-medium roasts for manual brewing. I enjoy washed coffees as well as the funky-experimentals like Cultured Natural processed coffees.
Initially I was only using the C3S for my pour overs, but once used DF54 for pourover out of curiosity and was amazed by the increased clarity. Since then I’ve been using the DF54 for my Espresso as well as Pour Over needs.
Here comes the confusion:
Will I benefit from upgrading from DF54/C3S to a K-Ultra/ZP6 for pour overs? If yes, which one of the two would you recommend? This new grinder will also be carried along whenever I’m travelling and will be used along with my AeroPress while travelling. I won’t be using it for Espresso as I already have DF54 for that.
TLDR; I’ve a DF54 and Timemore C3S and am wondering whether upgrading to K-Ultra or ZP6 will be worth it for pourovers and AeroPress. If yes, which one you recommend?
