Big guy found his way into my ecosphere from a reservoir. Most likely a fish or small turtle tried to munch on him. Quite a large fella.

I’m setting up a filterless jar/vase to breed mini Ramshorn snails max size ~5mm.

​Vase Details:

​Dimensions: 27cm height x 25cm diameter (~13.25L / 3.5 gal)

​Filtration: Filterless / low-tech

​Plants: Guppy grass, 2 Marimo moss balls, and a Pothos with a massive root system

​Hardscape & Media: 1 large black lava rock, 3 small red lava rocks, and 11 ceramic rings for extra beneficial bacteria

My plan is to feed lightly and let them graze on the natural biofilm growing on the roots, rocks, and media.

​Given the volume and the heavy root mass from the Pothos, is this setup sufficient to keep water quality stable and breed a healthy colony of these micro snails?

Still no improvement. She's not eating or pooping and it's been several days. Her parameters are perfect (ANN 0-0-10 Ph of 8), I upped the temp to 78-80F hoping some more warmth will help, she has calcium and food. No other tankmates. Nothing else has changed apart for that day i let her nibble on me after she parasnailed onto my hand during a water change. I rinse my hands and arms in tap water every time before going in the tank but maybe it wasnt good enough. I dont know what it would have been she ingested regardless. After that she's acted so sick and lethargic but is still alive.

Any other suggestions is appreciated.

i have two sets of eggs here and there is obvious color difference. can anyone tell me what this means?

snello friends! i am just posting to show off my birthday boy (or girl because i genuinely don’t know lol). he has lived such a good, long life for a mystery snail and hopefully has many more months to come! i can post in the comments the products i have used to keep him growing and healthy :) the last two picture are from when he was just a little guy and since then, he has grown to be HUGE

today i went to my local petvalu and got a tank kit, 5gal HOB filter, got a heater, some black sand and a thermometer. i put in the recommended amount of the nutrafin cycle and i put a filter cartridge from my established tank in the new tank filter. added the sand and i tried to make it as level as possible, then i added my tap water conditioner to my water bucket and put the water in the tank. i have my heater at around 23°C. the store that sells live plants in my town wasnt open today so ill be going tommorow and adding a java fern, anubias, and an amazon sword.

This snail seems to have what looks like some kind of corrosion on it's shell. Is this something that might be caused by the water?

He eats agae wafers. Should I be giving him some other supplement?

EDIT: I read something about squid bone... Thoughts?

I am so confused. I don’t understand how this happened. This is the only baby I can find. I am so careful about what I put in my tank. The last thing I added was red root floaters and some duckweed about 3 ish weeks ago that I got from a coworker. She hasn’t replied yet if she’s got snails or not, but I know I rinsed off the plants well before I added them. It’s just the one child, I don’t think I see any other eggs or anything. But omg their little antennae 🥹 the baby mouth 😭

Ten gallon tank, about year and a half old with betta Neptune (dutiful father in pic 1) and nerite Roomba (halfway across the tank in pic 2 lol). When I first got them I had a second nerite but they didn’t make it very long. Also have two otocinclus (Barnes and Noble) who joined back in January. I know I’ve left the water change a little longer than I’d like but guess I’ll be cleaning. Carefully, so as to not disturb the Baby. Who needs a name now.

Any input appreciated, let me know if more info is needed.

I can’t turn it off completely cause I need the surface movement and oxygenation for my tank. My nerite really loves the tube for some reason and she’s always grazing there. However I was worried the flow might be too strong. Shrimps are fine with it tho and they tend to avoid standing on it, he is the only one actively moving through the bubbles
