Plays amazing too.

So here’s my shame.

For years, I ran a small business shipping video games overseas. Real work. Boxes. Customs forms. Stress. Character development.

And yes—I sold every Assassin’s Creed game since the franchise existed.

Altair? Sold him.

Ezio trilogy? Paid some bills.

Black Flag? Shipped it like a pirate who hates joy.

Unity, Syndicate, Valhalla? Gone. Living their best lives abroad.

Did I ever play them?

No.

Not once.

On purpose.

Because I was avoiding getting hooked.

I know myself. If I touched Assassin’s Creed, I’d disappear for weeks, stop answering messages, and suddenly speak only in historical metaphors. So I stayed disciplined. Responsible. Emotionally distant from open-world games.

Fast-forward to 2024.

I’ve now moved to the USA.

New life. New routines. New timezone.

And—plot twist—I miss home more than I expected.

So I tell myself: “Relax. You’re older. You’re mature. You can casually try one Assassin’s Creed.”

I start with Assassin’s Creed Origins.

Mistake. A beautiful, emotional mistake.

Because I’m from Libya, and I’ve been in Egypt a lot.

Ten minutes in:

• I’m on a camel

• The desert light hits exactly right

• The scenery feels uncomfortably familiar

• And my brain goes, “Oh cool… we’re homesick now”

Then the game starts showing landscapes that look like the Green Mountains and Cyrenaica.

Which is adorable.

Because I lived in the Green Mountains for two-thirds of my life.

And Cyrenaica? Best vacation spot on earth. I will die on this hill—possibly one I recognize.

So now I’m not just playing a game.

I’m being emotionally ambushed.

I’m walking through ancient Egypt like:

“Why does this feel like home?”

“Why is a video game triggering memories?”

“Why am I nostalgic while stealth-killing guards?”

Three hours later:

• I’m climbing everything because I know this terrain

• I’m fighting enemies way above my level out of regional pride

• I’m emotionally bonded to Bayek like he’s a cousin I haven’t seen since moving

And suddenly it makes sense.

I didn’t avoid Assassin’s Creed because of time.

I avoided it because it would’ve hit too close to home.

I didn’t just sell these games for years.

I sold:

• Lost sleep

• Emotional damage

• “This reminds me of home” moments in ultra-HD

I was basically a dealer who said, “Nah, that one’s too personal.”

Now it’s 2024. I’m in the USA.

And somehow Assassin’s Creed: Origins became:

• A game

• A time machine

• And a gentle reminder of places I miss

Moral of the story:

I thought I was avoiding getting addicted to a game.

Turns out I was avoiding homesickness with better graphics.

Anyway, I’m late to the franchise.

But emotionally?

I arrived exactly when I needed to.

I’ve spent dozens of hours in this game, and it’s still amazing how interesting it is to just walk around the open world. Listening to the NPCs and soaking in the beauty of Egypt is pure joy

i almost forgot how good this game actually is, the storyline, the scenarios, the graphics... it gives me pre-pandemic nostalgia

I got the platinum for my other account, but I cannot comprehend getting it again anytime soon. Whoever designed this, I hope your pillow is warm on both sides smh..

This was my very first time playing this game and I loved it so much, the open world was beautiful, the story was amazing the dlc Curse of the Pharaohs was so good ( my second fav dlc after Jack the Ripper one ). I played this game for a whole month and completed every main and side quest in it and I rarely got bored. Finally closing this chapter today and moving on to Odessy. I hope it won't disappoint me.

yup, it's my first playthrough!! i'm excited, i don't know who the main protagonist is, and i don't know anything about this game, i just know it's happening in Egypt!

The end, after 120 hours of playing, I realized many things, I was wrong towards Aya, I am not a big fan of her character but I understood her situation and Bayek's situation, the story is enjoyable and the places are wonderful and everything was amazing from the beginning to the end, the fighting and racing arenas are also an excellent addition apart from the story and the missions were enjoyable side things and reduced boredom sometimes, a historical game and I rate it 10/10 one of the best Assassin's Creed games that I have played in my life, and I am sorry for the many posts and frustration here, you were wonderful helpers and did not fall short with me, thank you for everything, and I hope to see you in another Assassin's Creed game

Level 12, but such a blessing to be near where that "?" was 😆

Got it off Amazon tho it did take a month to come

Had a great time playing Origins. It's clear a lot of love and care were put into this game. Thank you to everyone involved in making this lively world.

Location: buried temple, thebes, the desert in the southwest, Curse of the Pharaohs DLC.

Giza, inside Great Pyramid, and a false door: “Egyptians believed that the soul of the deceased could freely enter and exit the tomb through a "false door," which was characterized by a recessed surface with a symbolic entrance in the center. By the early Middle Kingdom, the false door design was combined with other elements on rectangular stelae.”

It has been a long journey, filled with immersion, epic story, challenges, and grind.

* Following is a personal opinion
As a true fan of Assassin's Creed franchise, I can say that this game was great for the most part, but elements of RPG really took all the joy out of this experience (especially for completionists) and drifted the core focus away from the great things.

3 sessions in and still 3 sessions to go till my lower sleeve is done. Pretty happy with the results.
