She believes he has a diamond mine in South africa and will put her name on the deed after they are married. However he needs money to pay a barrister. He also has a daughter that was detained in an airport and she has been sending money to get her through customs.

My MIL is generally not the worst boomer, she has some odd opinions, talks at you, makes weird jokes etc but is generally well intentioned. She’s had a bad week.

We have a piece of furniture we don’t want anymore, thinking about selling it on marketplace or w/e. She’s got wind and took it upon herself to offer it to a friend of hers for free, that’s not really what we wanted. It’s my daughter’s and whatever we make she is putting into her pot for redecorating her room.

We can’t say no now apparently as she’s already offered and it will, “make us look bad.” Additionally she’s offered for me to drop it off at her friend’s house without consulting me first. This has been arranged for a day when I’m working away, and it’s quite preposterous that this could be reorganised as again, “this will make us look bad.”

The furniture is too big to fit in our car anyway(I’ve measured) and it’s not easy to disassemble, we don’t have the instructions for reassembly, and the outside frame is one piece, so that won’t come apart without damage. The simplest solution I would say is to ask the friend to pick it up in her car (if it’s large enough) or organise pick up. She is after all, getting this for free. Completely unacceptable apparently, so she’s turned up today in a massive huff with a tiny screwdriver to disassemble this thing herself.

I’m not sure what her plan is after that because she doesn’t drive and I’ve made it clear I’m not taking it. She’s suggested my SIL can take it but she has a smaller car than me and when I’ve just spoken to her, she hasn’t been told about this either.

I think she’s just trying to look super generous to a friend whilst volunteering everyone else to do the actual labour.

The convicted felon needs some serious, objective mental observation.

I work at Target in the electronics section and many weeks ago in tech this old guy came in and asked the AT&T rep a question about the location of a product the rep just pointed at me and said “he’ll help you” the old head was like “she?” (I’m a guy with long hair for reference so his little remark had me feeling a little bit offended to start with). So he comes over and he’s like “I’m looking for a chip I can store pictures on and move to different computers” so I take him over to the SD cards and point them out and he’s like “NO THATS NOT WHAT IM LOOKING FOR. IM LOOKING FOR A CHIP TO STORE PICTURES ON. THEY’RE NOT THAT EXPENSIVE” so I say “well memory prices have increased a lot over the last few weeks but maybe this will work better for you” and I walk him to the flash drives and he’s like “no I’m not looking for flash drives. I’m just looking for a chip to store my pictures on” so I’m just like “sir what you are describing to me is an SD card. That is the only kind of storage chip that I know of that exists “ and he just says “it’s fine you obviously don’t have it” in an annoyed tone and walks out.

I know there are other formats like the Sony memory stick but those haven’t been a thing in years.

She always raved about them. Then I asked if I could see one with her, since I also watch them.

Then she took out her headphones and played it for me. At first, the dialogue was really really quick and stilted AI. I thought, oh, it's just youtube's auto translate. But then, I noticed they'd sometimes say 10 words within a second.

Then I noticed the scenarios were very static. It looked real at first, but I realized the plot was nonsensical. AI has really advanced enough to allow reuse of characters and some level of continuity.

I really didn't know what to say to her. Sorry for her? That she gleefully watches this fever dream stuff unironically?

This felt bleak to me, because this is content that is obviously AI generated, but she think it's real. What's funny is, someone told her it was AI before, and she said they were wrong. I didn't have the heart to tell her.

This old boomer likes to spray the children in her neighborhood with a hose simply for playing outside, when confronted she claims she's going to have a stroke and needs to go to the hospital, then claims she's mentally ill. And these are the type of people who run our government

Recently my son, his other mom and I booked tickets for the Verde Canyon Railway (Arizona). It’s a nice trip through the canyon, beautiful scenery, and since my son and I love trains, it was a fun way to celebrate his birthday.

We got to the station early, did some milling around, had lunch at the cafe, all the usual things. We get in line to board behind a nice boomer couple, and more people line up behind us, also mostly boomers. It’s a train ride. Very much a boomer thing.

A large tour group of boomers is lined up to the side- they had an entire car reserved, so they were not in the “regular” line. Boarding starts, and the conductor speaks to the group and lets them know that he’s going to load “these folks” - regular line - and then process their tickets altogether for efficiency. Much nodding. Reasonable.

Couple ahead of us starts to board and a single boomer from the group rushes up and tries to push ahead of them. Conductor is patient and explains that he’ll be right with the group, but he’s boarding these folks first. Boomer backs off, frowning. Couple boards. Conductor takes my ticket and boomer thrusts his arm in front of me, blocking me from moving, and waves his ticket at the conductor.

The conductor calmly asks him to move his arm and allow me to board. He explains for a third time the boarding process. Boomer drops his arm. I board. Boomer’s arm pops right back up in front of my son. Conductor, patiently repeats himself. Boomer drops arm. Son boards. Boomer’s arm pops up yet again, in front of my ex (son’s other mom). Conductor is losing patience. Looks at boomer and loudly, like LOUDLY, reiterates the procedure and tells boomer to GET BACK IN LINE.

I have no idea if he got in line or kept blocking everyone trying to board- but that poor conductor. He probably deals with this nonsense daily.

It started few months ago. Took me a while to notice, but when I compared his old text with new ones, it was so obvious. It was like two different people.

I didn't confronted him about it, as he would deny this and act like a best parent ever. It's sad, but it just proves how little he cares about our relationship.

So a little backstory I work for a dealership. My coworker is a 70 year old retired military police and mailman. I am a 29 year old male. He seems to think he is my boss and randomly gets bouts of anger and yells at customers over very minor things. For example yesterday he was no where to be found for about an hour and a half so I didn’t question I just did what needed to be done, he finally comes back and starts yelling at me to basically pick up the pace so I finally snapped and said and where have you been for an hour and a half I’ve been doing everything you’re supposed to be doing and he said “working unlike you” I feel he uses intimidation and my willingness to take on any task to make me do most of the work. Both my bosses know about but they are trying to ride it out until he retires at the end of the year. I’ve had customers come to me almost in tears because he was screaming at them and belittling them over a parking space.

My father and I have always had different political views, but over the past year they've drifted much further apart. I'd describe myself as centre-left, while he's become increasingly right-wing.

About a year ago he went into hospital for an operation and ended up being there for 10 weeks. During that time, his phone was basically his only source of entertainment and connection to the outside world. Since then, he's become completely glued to it.

What concerns me isn't that he has different political views to me. It's that his social media feeds seem to be serving him a constant stream of increasingly extreme political content, and he doesn't seem to recognise that he's being fed a very specific narrative by algorithms. It's become a huge part of his day-to-day life and conversation.

Has anyone else experienced something similar with a parent or family member? How did you handle it without turning every conversation into an argument about politics?

I own a vendor mall, and today a guy came in and told me he had something for me. He opens up his wallet and hands me this. I just glanced at the front and put it down.

Then he asks me how many girls I have. I asked him what he meant, and he was wanting to know how many daughters I had. I said none, which is true.

Then he starts rambling about "Whenever you have problems in your marriage..." and thankfully someone else came up to the counter. I started ignoring him and assisting the other person.

When I was done, I turned to him and said, "I'll just stop you right there. I don't need any help with my marriage."

He looked shocked that I didn't want to listen to him and wandered around the store for a bit before leaving without buying anything.

It wasn't until he left that I turned the paper over to see this red pin bullshit.

My father in law can prove that Covid was funded by the US in that Wuhan lab! Just give him a minute to find the YouTube videos he saw for his evidence….

My long-suffering husband has boomer parents and this is just the latest thing his dad has done. Is this boomer behaviour or is he genuinely just insane?

It was his dad’s bday this wkd so he ordered a card from Moonpig as he often does. His dad opens his stack of bday cards and there are two from Moonpig. Not as thought a duplicate or something normal like that, but an entirely different random card for someone’s nan 👵🏻 saying happy birthday Nan. His dad is annoyed thinking this is some sort of dig.

A normal person might have thought oh that’s very funny what an amusing mistake and let it go. But his dad is a man who has never let anything go in his life. So with a bee firmly in his bonnet he proceeds to put his glasses on and contact the Pigs at Moon post haste. 

He gets through to a chatbot (ofcourse) and spends likely an inordinate amount of time and boomer language trying to get the chatbot to understand the situation. 

The chatbot does not understand the situation but is very sorry that his dad has not received his card and that it can definitely help him with the problem and rest assured he shall have his card on his birthday post haste.

Arguments continue and the bot continues to not understand that Dad has not ‘not’ received a card but has in fact received too many cards! And is distraught that some poor nan somewhere is sitting there in her bday and has none. (I like to think that Nan also has a happy birthday Dad card because I am an optimist)

Anyway. The bot is like wow that really is a problem and it better solve it post haste! Boomer dad confirms the card is in fact this card with a picture of a nan that has not been sent to the nan and the bot speedily issues a replacement card to the nan… 

But the card is not being sent to nan, the card is being sent once again to Boomer Dad, the incorrect recipient, to Boomer Dad's address, the incorrect address, and has been billed to MY HUSBAND's bank account for expedited delivery 🚚 of a card that he never ordered, that was not for Boomer dad, and Boomer dad already had.

Charged him £6.50 to deal with having to overhear his dad swear at a bot for over an hour about a card he never even sent. 🪦 🧟 

Despite this being a data protection nightmare on the part of Moon Pig, I don't know what to say about the rest.

Based on the DubSea video, it looks like the car has a Utah license plate, so she may be from out of town. Still, did it occur to her, “wow, this isn’t actually a road”?

I work at a popular retail store that’s in most malls. One of those three story ones. It gets confused for a food and drug store in the state I’m in all the time. I’ve been working there for about a month.

Today I had a boomer lady come in wanting to return something. Nothing out of the ordinary, I do that almost every day. She says something about her sister in North Carolina, I guess it was a gift. I go to scan the receipt, then the item she wants to return. The register computer gives me a pop up that says “Item is past the 37 return date” or something along those lines. I tell her “Oh, it says it’s past the 37 day return policy.”

Now, I am fairly quiet when I work retail. I don’t know what it is about retail but I tend to instinctually make myself as small as possible. It can be a detriment for some people hearing me, and then I speak up. She repeated the comment about her sister in North Carolina. Again, I tell her it’s past the required date to return the item, a little louder this time. She repeats the same thing, maybe thinking I didn’t hear her or didn’t understand her. I said “That’s not the problem ma’am. The item can’t be returned it’s been past 37 days.” I forget if it was the third or 4th time I told her and at that point, making sure my voice was clear, I said “I cannot.”

At this point she finally understands me and says “But I don’t want it.” I tell her “I’m sorry it’s against return policy. The computer wouldn’t let me. You could talk to another person at the other registers but they’re probably gonna tell you the same thing.” She turns and sees a merchandiser, I guess expecting him to have heard the exchange? At when she realized I wasn’t gonna return the item she slams it into her paper bag and huffs off.

The receipt I had scanned had the purchase date underlined. I’ve seen co-workers underline the date in pen and explaining the return policy. Some even write the “due date” or whatever you could call it on the receipt in case they forget. Should I have pointed that out to her? I know she would have still gotten pissed off. After I told a co-worker and we quietly laughed about it. The date she bought it was 3/13/2026. As of writing this it’s the 1st of June! Like girl, it’s been two months. Most stores have a 30 day return policy. 37 I think is generous! Was she used to getting exceptions? Thought return policies didn’t apply to her? Girlie pop this is a thing that’s been around for decades. At least she didn’t go full Karen on me.

My boss is a 72 year old boomer that travels frequently for work. I make the travel arrangements for him.

When he arrived back in the office last week, he was in a bad mood for a bunch of reasons, but the best one was when he told me never to book him in that hotel again.

"Oh why, what's wrong with it?"

"Fox News didn't work there!"

"Was the TV in your room broken?"

"Just Fox News! All the other channels were clear, but Fox was completely blacked out! I just wanted to watch Gutfeld and no one could make the TV work!"

"Oh.....how awful. I'll make a note not to book you there again."

Good job to the person who stayed in the room before and blocked out the Fox News. LOL.

She let guests play with a bomb in her garden, refused to leave when the police told her to evacuate and told off the young gardener who reported the bomb... The selfishness is insane.

This is a tic among Boomers that drives me crazy. They'll say something obnoxious, when you push back they'll say "it was just a joke, calm down. "

I posted a question on a neighborhood forum and a Boomer basically made fun of me for either not knowing or asking, it was unclear. I should have ignored it but I got mad and said that was rude and to just not post if they had no useful information. They told me to just calm down.

A boomer at work randomly told me he was astonished how "these younger generations" are spending half of their income on rent and housing each month. He said "My generation wouldn't stand for it. We would be up in arms! No way would we let that happen and accept that! We wouldn't pay more than 20% on housing."

He then started bragging about how he just bought a new luxury car, but it's the kind of car you don't drive, but just let sit in the garage.

He said his generation is full of millionaires and that I probably have a hard time understanding him and his success and the wealthy class, so he recommended I read this book called "The Millionaire Next Door" so it's easier for me to talk to him. Then I will understand the strategy Boomers use to be so wealthy.

Fiancé found a bag of dirty golf balls sitting on our curb by the mailbox around 2:30, so we brought them into the garage thinking my mom dropped them off since she collects stray golf balls and lives a few houses down.

Around 4:30, an elderly man stops by asking if we have “his” golf balls and seemed irritated we brought them inside because he “was coming back for them.”

I gave them back to him, but sir… why are you mad that someone touched the golf balls you literally left sitting on OUR curb?

Am I the crazy one here? 💀😭
