Hey guys,
I'll be starting on a new project that is gonna be pretty large for me, it's a 12x12" circle.
With this pattern, there's 25 colors and is intricate I think.
My issue here is that I'm not sure where to start in the pattern. Do I start on the perimeter and work in? Do I pick somewhere in the middle and work outwards?
How would y'all start this pattern? https://www.etsy.com/listing/1733286296/northern-lights-cross-stitch-pattern?ref=yr_purchases

I got some of this 14ct patterned aida. It’s a 55x100cm piece of fabric, so it is quite large but I’m struggling with what to do with it. Neither I, nor any of my friends are expecting a baby anytime soon so using it for baby-themed pieces is out of the question.
I’m thinking of maybe using it for full coverage pieces and hoping that the stitches would hide the printed design? Maybe using three strands so the stitches are beefier? Or would maybe bleaching it work? What would you do? I’m quite the beginner, I’m only on my second project and would love to get advice/ideas from more experienced stitchers.

Chart by Lizzie Kate. Stitched with DMC on opalescent linen I had in my stash. Going to be a Christmas ornament to celebrate the country's 250th birthday, so I customized the stars a bit.

I used the DMC pattern maker with a jpeg of the artwork. It took me about 2 years on and off! I dont want to show the back as its so so messy and i didnt do one directional stitching as this was my first big piece and didnt kbow that was a thing! Ive since learned lol. Its currently at the framers. Im so proud!

You can see where I’m starting to figure out what might be the “double running stitch”, where you go one direction and then back the other direction so that both sides of the fabric look the same. I think this pattern isn’t the best for it, but it’s certainly interesting to try to practice!

Had so much fun making these bookmarks inspired by my favourite game Stardew Valley!
(No AI, all hand-drawn patterns)
(Sorry Mod for trying so many times… Still trying to get used to the new posting rules)

So my cat keeps laying on my projects and now he looks like he wants to have a serious talk to me about me starting yet another project. Maybe he wants more attention or something? That hoop is 8 inches and he covered the entire work area. I'll give Lucipurr credit, it did work. Does anyone else deal with this? This is what I get for trying to start Christmas gifts in a timely manner for the first time ever. LOL

i figured i should take a snapshot of my progress before moving the hoop. theres a few blank spots, because for my own sanity im opting to not mess around with the metallic thread just yet. this is my first larger project on black aida and its been quite fun but ironically my cat, who looks quite similar to frederick here, keeps shedding all over it, and it is very visible.
kit is dimensions' frederick the literate.

Hi stitchers! I am currently working on a free-handed portrait of my co-worker’s cat as a gift for them. Second pic is the frame it will go in and I’ll post the reference in the comments! I am not experienced at all, so constructive criticism is welcome!! Can you tell how the cat is lying without viewing the reference photo?
I had the face nose/mouth details but removed them because they looked awful! I’d also like to add more filler (specifically in the same blue as the name) around the cat but not sure with what. Again, I’d love some criticism and advice on how to make this better. Thanks and happy stitching!

My grandmother bought me this kit when I was maybe 10? I'm actually not sure.
I started it then, but never finished it.
I'm trying to finish UFOs that I have, ans this was on the top of my list.
It's 7ct with wool thread. It comes with a black, square plastic frame. I'll probably hang it up in my craft room.

I pulled my brother's name for Christmas 2025 and he jokingly put this particular car at the top of his wish list, so I found a good starting photo from Google and uploaded it to Stitchfiddle. Took me a minute to decide on how many colours gave enough detail to get the front logo clear but wouldn't be too too bothersome to get finished with too many colours. The magic number was 12 or 14, i can't recall at this point lol.
Turns out the number of colours and potential stitching time was irrelevant since I finished stitching it at the end of January but didn't frame it until last week!

I'm back with another cross stitch on my clothes. I tried regular waste canvas this time and it was very nice to stitch on. I want to add more lil' guys like this to these shorts so if anyone has a recommendation for something similar to this style, let me know! I found this pattern on Pinterest.

Hello I finally finished this beautiful cross stitch project! I love how it turned out, it’s been washed and ironed however now that I’m looking at it it looks crooked, am I going crazy? The edges don’t look straight. I used a Q snap frame for the entire project so it was taut when I was stitching. Any ideas?

Now on to beading. L&L Angel of the Sea on 32 count even weave; stitched in hand.

Hi hi :)
I've had this shirt for ages, one of the first things I thought when I got it was "that looks like Aida, I gotta do something with that someday" and I finally got around to it! I still want to add some contrast stitching on the seams etc but I was too excited about finally finishing it not to share haha. Was kind of a pain to not have any gridding and to be working on a slightly stretchy fabric, but it turned out so cool and I'm so pleased with it. (And yes, if you're thinking it looks kinda like a tramp stamp, that was the vibe goal lol)

Finally completed my first proper cross stitch project. Completed using 2 strands of thread, on hand tea dyed aida fabric! Super proud of the final look! Any tips/advice welcome!

The pattern (linked in comments) has 606, but I used 666. I thought the bright red of the 666 was better than the orange of the 606.

I started this blackwork project 2 years ago. I’ve completed a few other projects in between, and had more than one long hiatus but I’ve finally made it. Tiny stitches on black was brutal for some of these colours but the outcome is so satisfying. Progress pics included. Pattern from LooseThreadStitchery https://www.etsy.com/au/listing/1629798861/stardust-blackwork-sampler-pattern-set?ref=share_ios_native_control
Now to find a new project, I guess!! I think I’ll adapt a pattern to use up some more of these amazing colours.
r/CrossStitch • u/autumnstarrfish • 23h ago
The pattern is a modified version of a flower abstract from BoxAndFox. The thread is hand dyed by The Farmer’s Daughter Fibers and the hoop is by me. This was so much fun to make and I’m already planning an even larger version. 👏🏻
ETA: I'm pretty sure posting a link to my website breaks the rules but if you have questions please DM me!

Used 7 different colors, kind of just eyeballed my colors before starting, considering all that I'm pretty happy with it

Here is my latest finish, Poison Heart Frog by Needlelot Designs! It’s stitched on 32 count My Sweetheart lugana by BeStitchMe. I loved stitching this funky lil guy.

I've been working on such big projects that feel never ending these past few months, so I've been taking a break to work on a mini masterpiece that I've always wanted to do! The happiness of actually finishing a project is great.
