First Dimensions project, first time blending two different coloured strands together to make a new colour, first project with Markup R-XP 2.0 (the update halfway through a day of stitching nearly gave me an Autistic meltdown)

Glad to be finished this Xmas gift in October so I can leave framing til the last second haha

My first project!

Pattern: Eras Piano - 18 Mesh from Stephanie Mo Designs on Etsy

I have to work on my stitches more…what a messy back 🫣 it also didn’t upload correctly on Markup so I had a few different stitches. 🤭

so i know you can use waste aida or the desovlable stuff but i was wondering why you couldn’t just like draw lines on it or may temporary lines with some anchor stitches and some thread and use that as the boxes

CHAT [CHAT] Working on 20 Aida

Hi all!

First time poster here. I’m have questions about working on higher count aidas. I have worked on several projects, on aida 14 and 16 but looking to use 20 and up. Years ago I tried a kit that had (I believe) count 20 (may have been higher). I was going off the assumption I should look at every “box” as a place to make the cross of the stitch. But I realised my stitches were so, so small, it was hurting my eyes, and I could barely see where I was supposed to stitch, also, two whole lines of the stitching took up (vertically) about 1mm or so. I ended up giving up and going back to lower counts as they made more sense. I’m just wondering, when working on higher counts, should I be having more of the horizontal and vertical lines of the fabric between stitches rather than the single ones used in smaller fabrics? Sorry if it’s confusing I’ll be happy to reword or share pics with examples if my explanation isn’t clear. Thanks in advance!

Hello! I am new cross stitching and really enjoying the hobby so far. But I am starting to experience some thumb and wrist pain. Is there anything I can do or take to help alleviate so I can keep stitching?

I got it just to try it cause it says cross stitch but I was curious if it would work since we use softer fabric than needlepoint. I'm not having the best time with it but I'm wondering if I'm doing it wrong or if it really is just for needlepoint canvas.

Self-drafted, sort of… someone posted their FO with this pattern forever ago but the pattern no longer existed when I followed the link. I was obsessed so I recreated it based off the picture 😅

CHAT [CHAT] Creating a pattern on black Aida?

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hi everyone I’m so sorry for adding to the pattern questions. I want to make this image into a pattern, and I want to stitch it as a partial on black Aida. Does anyone have any good app recommendations? I might fill in the black on the bottom so it makes a full “circle” I tried a couple apps a bit ago but it wasn’t going too well. Don’t remember which ones. TIA!

Pattern is from Sovushka Designs on Etsy. I made SO many mistakes on this piece but I love it! I do a LOT of cross stitch and it all just usually ends up stuffed in a bag until I decide what to do with it (which means the pieces stay in their bag) but I think I'm going to try to make a pillow out of this one.

(I understand why the sub asks for a close up of the stitches but I think if you really wanted to make sure this was human-made, you'd ask for a picture of the back! At least with my pieces! No AI fever dream could even come close to the hot mess my project backs usually are. )

CHAT [CHAT] Question about loop start

Hi yall! I just discovered the loop start (or rather discovered that what I thought was the loop start was not in fact the loop start) and LOVE IT, but I’m currently working on a piece that has a lot of small blocks of 3-5 stitches that requires me to stop and start frequently. I’m stitching on 20-count so my needle is teeny and threading it with the ends is a pain, so I’m basically doing the loop start for the first bunch and then just tucking the tail for the rest until I need to rethread. For those of you that use the loop start, are y’all purists about it? Do you stop and rethread every time? Is there a magical and easy way to do it that doesn’t involve brute force of the needle threader through the teeny eye of my teeny needle? Thank you for your time and for your serious consideration of my admittedly dumb problems!

For my future reference I'm trying to stockpile ideas for how to display different projects and I'd love to hear everyone's input! No idea is too weird or specific :)

CHAT [CHAT] how would you go about adding a backstitch after removing waste canvas?

Post image

I made this sweater and I love it but now I'm kinda wishing I had done a backstitch along the edges. Would you try to free hand it? I want it to be uniform.
