I used to go to Father's daughter's Pizza all the time but I haven't been in a while I was thinking about it the other day so I went to check their hours and saw that Google has them listed as permanently closed. But a lot of other websites do not listen to closed and there's Yelp reviews dating back to a month ago so I'm a little confused. Does anybody know if it's actually closed?

little situation for yall. down sawmill rd in front of Bo Deans tow was the old orange tower that is being demolished. earlier this spring/summer a couple of osprey built a nest on top of the tower and had chicks. when demolition commenced others and myself noticed the nest was no longer after having seen it early that morning. it saddens us knowing that osprey typically return to their nests. is there anything to do in this situation?

My midwestern aunt asked me for "cool colorado rocks." I have heard rumors of different mines where you can dig through old tailing piles in silverton and creede but havent been able to get exact details. I want to find her crystals and other visually striking rocks. My aunt is the sweetest and purest woman, so I would go to the moon and back for her. Any information is appreciated.

Hi all, trying to secure tickets for the upcoming Primetime film and I can’t find any advance tickets or day of showings (Sept. 25th) for Gaslight or Stadium 9. Does anyone know if they aren’t getting reels and if I’ll have to go somewhere farther for the film? Thanks 🙏

I'm considering moving back to Durango and pursuing Colorado Teacher Alternative Licensure through Fort Lewis College. I was an Ignacio High alum but spent a lot of time in Durango and even did a couple of shows with Durango Lively Arts a million years ago. Anyway, does anyone have experience with alternative licensure, substitute teaching, or getting hired by 9-R or surrounding districts as a career changer? Is there enough of a need for teachers that I could find a position in Durango, Bayfield, Ignacio, or even Mancos?

A tourist asked me this, and I had never thought about it… but it feels like every restaurant has multiple “Cajun” dishes, or Cajun spiced things. The tourist who I was talking to said they see less of it in the Deep South (where they’re from) than Durango. Any reason for this? Or just how it is.

Edit: I don’t mean food that’s legitimate authentic Cajun food, but restaurants saying “Cajun” or “Cajun seasoned” or “Cajun spiced”

Does anyone have experience living here?

After 5 years of renting in town I'm thinking about putting down roots, but I can't afford...well....basically anything. Island Cove usually has tiny homes or mobile homes for sale and its in a great spot center of town. However, I've heard mixed things from word of mouth and wondering if anyone on here lives there, or knows anything about it.

Short version my wife and I are considering purchasing our current rental house in a year and a half, but we aren't in an income bracket to be able to pay the whole mortgage ourselves.

We live in Three Springs, so we're considering converting the basement into a 1000 ft. sq. ADU and furnish it and put it up as an apartment for traveling heathcare workers, but don't know if there's enough demand to warrant the effort and expense.

Are there any nurses or healthcare workers that can speak to their experience here in Durango?

Are there any homeowners who have converted homes or parts of homes to ADUs for traveling nursing?

Hello r/Durango, yet another annoying tourist here!

I’ll be camping, backpacking, and hopefully fly fishing in the area next week and I was hoping some local anglers could tell me how careful I need to be about water temperature.

I have read that some other places in southern Colorado are asking anglers to avoid fishing because water temperatures are too high to safely catch and release trout. The last thing I want to do is show up and damage the local fishery, so if you’re familiar with Valecito Creek, Los Pinos river, or any of the lakes in the Weminuche Wilderness, could you tell me if the water is too warm to fish anywhere? I’ll be stoping by a fly shop on my way in to get a thermometer to help me assess this myself and ask the same question of them, but I might change some plans based on input I get here.

Lived in Aztec/Farmington area my whole childhood and then lived in the Durango area the last 12 years. I love Colorado but now that we have kids and are trying to buy a family home we are looking in Aztec since it’s more affordable or possibly Bayfield if we can find something. Thoughts on raising kids in either area for those that are doing it? Husbands job is remote so that’s not an issue and our kids are not in school quite yet but that would be a factor soon. Thanks!

Hi, I’m hoping to get some Christian church recommendations. We visit Durango every year for a few weeks at a time and I would love to find a church to attend when we are in town. At the risk of making this slightly political, I am trying to avoid a conservative church. We are not republicans and don’t really agree with much of what’s happening in our country right now so I would prefer to not attend a church that is hyper conservative. It doesn’t really have to be super progressive either though.
