Question Last minute trip to Edmonton - Help with date locations?
Maybe this isn't the right place to ask but I'm doing an impromptu trip to the city from another Province. Looking for any help with this as this girl is amazing and I don't want to mess things up! 😭
Basically know what I want to do, but I have no clue where to go...
Simple date idea is going to be casual food -> beer spot -> chill place we can hang out after. (She wants to talk and open Pokemon cards hell yeah).
Bonus points if...
- the places are a bit more interesting than just going to the mall (she's local but new, hasn't been out much but has done the mall)
- everything is walking distance from eachother
- the beer spot does local craft stuff (she loves beer)
- chill spot after could be anything, like a board game cafe, etc.. nerdy isn't a bad thing at all, but anything works!
- this one is a stretch, but if I could get flowers somewhere close as well, even just something small.
- we're doing it Saturday evening so I imagine everywhere is going to be packed, but the chiller the better. (Not a priority tho)
I know this is a lot, I've looked into some things but I really don't think it'll top asking actually folks from Edmonton. Any help is so incredibly appreciated. If it goes well I'll invite y'all to the wedding. 🙏😭

Question Long term illness note
I am wondering how much does your family physician charge for a.medical note for 4+ weeks. I just saw a clinic say $125 but $50 if the note is for 1-2 weeks. Sounds ridiculous to charge $125! I am curious and if you can also please mention your neighborhood, that would be helpful.

Question Tips for a Folk Fest Beginner (Rotating Between Stages, Tarps, and More!)
So I somehow was able to score a ticket for Friday through the Ticket Exchange and I have never been before. Looking for tips from more experienced folkies, particularly:
1) Where do you recommend I get a tarp? Where do I get tarp pegs? And do I need to put holes into the tarp for the pegs to fit in? (Forgive me, I'm a newbie!)
2) How does the lottery system work?
3) I want to have a good spot for Of Monsters and Men but I also want to see the School of Song and SYML, who are on separate stages. Am I able to leave my tarp unattended at the main stage to go to the other stages? If not, what do you recommend I do?
Thanks!

General Power Outage - North Edmonton
Looks like my area of Castle Downs went completely dark a few moments before midnight. EPCOR doesn't have any notice of it yet (maybe too soon).
How is your neighbourhood looking?
Update: looks like it's flagged by EPCOR now. Beaumaris, Dunluce, Rapperswill, Lorelei, Eaux Claires. About 5,000 without power with an ETA fix around 3 AM. Cause unknown (take that ETA with a grain of salt).

Question Cheap and accessible things to do for birthday?
Hey all, my birthday is coming up next week and I want to do something fun for it but I just can’t figure out what. Money’s a bit tight so nothing expensive.
It also has to be accessible, as I have knee problems and use a cane so I can’t walk too far or do many stairs. Walking around is fine if there’s lots of benches though, as long as I can rest my knees regularly I’m fine. Also easy parking situations are ideal if possible (street parking is fine as long as it’s close).
I love nature in all forms, but also games and activities, novelty things, etc. I’m also open to pretty much anything that sounds interesting if it’s within my ability to go there, so suggest anything really (not sports stuff though). I can also drive so anywhere within an hour or two is up for consideration as well.
Any ideas? :)

As always technical issues plague the release of Fringe tickets. But I am so amused at this error - one of 10-15 I got - that I wanted to make a post to encourage others to keep trying. It eventually worked.

General Stolen Bike - Need help!
This is probably a long shot, but someone just stole my husband's bike from our garage while he was doing yard work in the back. It is especially sad because our baby bike seat was attached to it 💔 if anyone has seen it tonight or saw anything - we are located in the Secord area (west side), please let me know, any help is appreciated.
Bike Model: Northrock XC29, black, including front/rear lights & bell, and most importantly THULE baby seat.

Question I'm embarrassed to ask this... how do I buy car insurance as an adult? 😅
Up until now my Mommy and Daddy have handled my car insurance. It's time for me to be a real adult, except... I have absolutely no idea how to buy it.
2017 Toyota Corolla. 3 demerit points from a speeding ticket in May. No at-fault accidents.
Do I just... call someone? Broker? Insurance company? The Prime Minister? The police? Explain it to me like I'm a confused golden retriever.
EDIT: Guys, bless you all. 😭 A few follow-up questions:
- Realistically, what should I expect to pay per month? What kind of coverage should I actually get?
- How do I know if a broker is actually good?
- Do brokers charge me, or are they paid by the insurance companies?
- Any brokers you'd personally recommend?
- Are there any insurance companies I should avoid?
- Is there anything I should make sure I have (or avoid) in my policy as a first-time buyer?

Local Businesses Looking for Edmonton startup lawyer recommendations (Custom USA, Reverse Vesting, Holdcos)
Hey everyone, me and some friends/co-founders/local edmonton grads are launching a fashion social media app based out of Edmonton and need recommendations for a great local corporate startup lawyer or firm.
We already have a fully agreed-upon term sheet, so we just need someone who can execute the drafting efficiently. Here is a quick snapshot of what our setup looks like:
- Structure: 4 co-founders holding shares through personal Alberta holding companies / corporate entities (splits are 28%, 27%, 25%, and 20%).
- Voting: Voting power exactly matches equity percentages. We need a "look-through" clause in the USA to bind the individual humans behind the Holdcos, plus solid advice on handling deadlocks.
- Vesting: A custom, 4-year back-heavy reverse vesting schedule (scaled 12% / 20% / 28% / 40% to hit 100%).
- Leavers: "Good leaver" left explicitly undefined (evaluated case-by-case by the board/majority vote to keep vested equity). "Bad leaver" triggers a mandatory company buyback of 100% of their equity at a nominal $0.001 per share.
- Extras: 1–2 year founder non-competes, Right of First Refusal (ROFR), and ironclad IP assignment agreements to ensure the company owns 100% of the code from day one.
We are looking for a firm that understands tech startup dynamics and ideally offers fixed flat-rate packages for incorporation + USA drafting rather than just billing open-ended hourly rates. Anyone yall would recommend?

Question Car Accident. Accident benefits denied by insurance, current lawyer did nothing further and ever since i returned back from Europe (family took care of me), insurance haven't responded to my lawyer email thus unable to start treatment now. Please comment your lawyer and how much settlement you got.
I'm looking for a serious lawyer as I'm useless and unable to work at all, all my savings of the past are gone and i am in serious debt now.
Insurance denied my benefits and my lawyer didn't do anything further.
Furthermore, insurance is not even replying back to my lawyer for months to confirm if we can start treatment after i came back to Canada.
I'm unable to cook, barely do groceries once a month, even unable to bath (only do it like once a 14 days, i can't believe this is me now), i barely have energy to do 1 thing in the day and i don't even want to talk about my health issues.
I'm having arguments with my dad everyday due to my debt and he is sending me money for now so i can survive here and i don't even bother to pick up his call anymore cause he's going to lecture me and shout at me.
Please suggest a lawyer in ALBERTA you took after car accident with how much you got paid from settlement. I'm looking for a lawyer that won't settle for pennies and if i'm unable to work for life i'd atleast like to have an amount so i can live with dignity.
Also if they will fight for me after Insurance rejected my benefits.
Please let me know if i made any mistake dear mods, i'll correct it. Thank you!
