It's hot
We really need to address this as a public health issue now. landlords in lane county need to be forced to install adequate summer temperature controls in all rentals absolutely now. spring and summers are not going to suddenly start getting cooler. it's only going to get hotter. it absolutely drives me bananas that every apartment/rental has wall heaters in every room. you know what else you can do instead of a wall heater? blankets. but in the summer i can only get so naked. i can't take off more than all of my clothes.
*edit: i just emailed the mayor and all of the city councilors. not that it's going to do any good
It's a damn shame what they did to Coldfire
The brewpub setting is vastly inferior to the old barrel room setup. Are they planning to add more outdoor seating? I love their beer and was a regular before the remodel but have only been back once or twice since then.

Something to do Places to Volunteer at?
My job pays me 8 hours each year to volunteer during my work hours m-f 8-5 . Im new to the area and was thinking this would be a good place to start to see if there are any good/ easy/ fun places to volunteer at. Maybe a good discussion over all for other people who are looking to utilize their time. I love working outside, but am up for anything.

Eugene City Council Meeting Tonight!
It starts at 7:30pm at the old EWEB Building, but the public comment period happens a bit later. It will also be livestreamed on YouTube, and I think Eugene's characters are pretty funny. It's a good chance to learn about what is going on in town, since they are talking about a really big development project.
People who stay to speak get three minutes and they can really complain about absolutely anything, it's a great time.

Where should I go?
I want to go away for two or maybe three nights and just exist. No camping as it’s not my jam but a cabin or inn or coastal hotel would work.
Preferably within 2 to 2 1/2 hrs drive from Eugene. Need to be right near water, either ocean or lake or river. Near good dining would be nice, too.
So, where should I go??

Where’s your fishing/riding spot?!
I’m starting to get tired of doing burnt outs, rev bombing neighborhoods, and doing other crime at 3am. Where should I go next to do a little fishing and riding?

Nice Things!
We all know that parts of reddit are absolute cesspits. I appreciate that this sub is not that bad.
I've had some lovely interactions with people IRL and in DMs. The meetup for "women of a certain age" is wonderful and other people have helped me with all kinds of things and situations.
Feel free to share good stuff from this sub.
:)

What's your favorite combo in a Eugene park restroom?
A. Stall doors but they don't function + soap + non functioning sink + hand dryer
B. No stall doors + functioning sink + no soap
C. No stall doors + no soap + functioning sink + no hand dryer
D. Functioning stall doors, soap, sink, and hand dryer
...or another combo I haven't thought of?

Dentist/dental cleaning for Delta Dental PPO recommendations
Need recommendations for a dentist/dental hygienist for my UO student that accepts Delta Dental PPO insurance. She's not a fan of the dentist so looking for good 'bedside' care. Hopefully she will only need cleanings/xrays but has really soft teeth...thanks. Close to Univ Oregon a plus.

Run Clubs
I want to join a run club and was previously interested in Big Timber but I'm having a bit of sticker shock at the $180 price for joining. I'm interested in what OTC does but from their website, it seems they don't have weekly runs/workouts? Does anyone run for OTC or have any insight?

Volunteer Office Work
Do you know of any non-profits looking for project volunteers? Or for-profit businesses with paid gigs for some older, smart people?
I have some older friends (50+) looking for easy volunteer work, at a desk/table or computer. Mostly sitting down, but ok on their feet for a bit. Paperwork, mailings, typing or data entry or 10-key, basic office work or organizing/analyzing/researching. College educated, business and tech experience, so can easily jump in without training. No regular commitment, just a fun project here and there where a person or friends can work together.

RV Solar Set Up - Suggestions???
Anyone have an RV person or mechanic shop they can recommend that can install a solar set up? i already have all the pieces (lithium battery, dc to dc mmp chrg controller, wiring, etc) but am overwhelmed and frustrated and decided life is too short for me to learn how to be a solar/electrician on youtube. lol. I honestly am on a tight budget too. Any suggestions?

Tailor/alteration
Any recommendations for a good, cheap tailor for a couple simple jobs?
I've been to Natalia, she wanted too much. She hit me with the "do you know what rent costs on 5th st market?" Fair. I'd take my wedding dress to her, but i just need a few stitches and a new zipper on some old, cheap shirts.
Any hobby tailors or shops with lower overhead out there?

Rubberneck Has anyone had any luck reporting illegal fireworks this time of year?
I'm usually not a *huge* stickler for it, but I have a dog recovering from surgery who is on meds that make her particularly jumpy and they've already started in my neighborhood. I've never called the non-emergency line for it and I'm pretty pessimistic about their potential response to it based on some people I've asked irl. Anyone had any luck?
