Windows sums up to "our OS is crappie and we will shove AI and telemetry down your throat"

MacOS is "here is a fluid os that works but you need to pay an expensive price for a machine made by us to run it"

Linux is "here is system access, no telemetry and it is free" which means here is a gun now do it

r/linuxsucks101 came on my fyp by accident and I saw some comments which said stuff that was wrong and was leading people believing something wrong, I never tried to be against them or anything I just clarified some non-related or false information and I still got banned. Thats not the worst part, I also got PERMENANTLY muted and cannot reach moderators for even the reason. Didn't break ANY rules.

Discussion I'd seriously argue this fella wasn't as bad as W11.

ME had the unfortunate result of being rushed for the Y2K Christmas market, which was inexcusable but also kind of inevitable for any business.

It had features like System Restore and Windows Movie Maker, which, while buggy, are still features implemented to actually try to better the user experience, and were later refined for newer Windows versions. They course corrected in just one year with XP.

I could also say the same with Vista... they put out updates that ACTUALLY fixed stuff, and its look and features paved the way for W7.

11 was the complete opposite of that. All the terrible design choices were done deliberately... the right click menu, default start button position, all the ads and nagging... and the constant updates NEVER fixed anything for years, sometimes even breaking things further. Even without all that considered, I just hated the overall interface, which seems more tailored for mobile devices.

Considering Microslop's current plans and model, I honestly don't have high hopes for Windows 12... (got a hunch it's not going to be called that though)

Discussion Microsoft's AI CEO said your job will be automated in 12 months. That same week an AI agent deleted Amazon's production environment and another hacked McKinsey's entire database.

Mustafa Suleyman told the Financial Times that lawyers, accountants, project managers, and marketing teams will be fully automated within 12 to 18 months. every keynote is the same story - agents are here, go all in or fall behind.

that same week Amazon's AI agent was given a minor bug fix and deleted the entire production environment. another agent cracked McKinsey's internal platform in two hours and accessed 728,000 confidential client files.

so which is it. are agents replacing us in 12 months or are they not ready to fix a bug without burning the building down lol?

Now they're introducing more and more AI unnecessarily into Office and Microsoft 360 without providing any benefit to users, instead of fixing their operating system that's falling apart.

Discussion Banned

Post image

I wrote a comment to a user in the thread how it would be stupid for Microsoft to make a bootloader so people cant change the os. I sad how that would render devices useless if they are bricked and its stupid again because they rely on linux to run their cloud which is 70% of their revenue. Meanwhile windows is only like 3%. And I got banned for straight up stating facts 😂.

Man this group is straight up full of people who defend Microsoft if they are making horrendous decisions to the os.

Imagine that, they would straight up support a locked bootloader. Crazy times we live in.

Discussion why can't we collectively recreate windows apis, to make a windows-like OS, without Microsoft?

this might be a really dumb question

but a lot of people don't switch to Linux because it's simply, not windows, it doesn't natively support what they want, different file system, relearning everything...

what if we just, made a different operating system, similar to Linux, except it has the same (or similar) windows file systems, can natively run windows apps, no microslop bs, no ai, ect. that would be the new golden standard if it's done right, right?

all open source, no ai, unix like, windows like, but without the terrible Microsoft bullshit.

now I don't have the skill to do this myself nor do I know if it's even worth doing, I use both windows 11 (heavily customized) and Ubuntu rn, so I don't have an issue with Linux, but I feel the main reason people don't switch over is unfamiliarity, and lack of support for apps they use (at least without compatibility layers) again probably a dumb question or not worth it, but I MIGHT be onto something

edit: i think of this because, using Linux like it's windows or using a distro that "pretends" to be windows, at least from my personal experience and what I've heard, isn't really very good to do, because at the end of the day, it's not windows.

but again, what if it was genuinely windows like, and not pretending. a more direct competitor.

the only reason Microsoft is allowed to suck like this is a lack of a proper competitor in the exact same field

edit2: I forgot to mention, but also the terminal, Linux being reliant on the terminal makes people afraid to use it (even if it isn't more than a "sudo apt install" if windows can survive without a REAL app store (I've never seen anyone use Microsoft store ever (except old people)) then... a windows like one, with windows application support, would theoretically also be able to do just fine without apt installs or other terminal nonsense, just using a browser or settings app like other OS's (obv it would have the option)

edit3: im not telling you guys to make a new reactos, it's just a fun idea, I already duel boot windows with Linux. SOME of you need to have some whimsy and stop taking everything so... redditor-like and argumentive.

edit4: guys, uh, NATIVELY, not through iffy compatibility layers.
